The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

When Shawn poked her stomach, Jewel couldn't resist but yelp and stuck her tongue out at him. Sometimes she had her moments of being playful, and tonight was one of them. She sipped her drink slowly as she listened to him. He had a point. Jewel realized she was still kind of thinking about the place as a normal school where people study then graduate. Apparently for many people it was also a safe haven and a home. People who were not as fortunate as her, and people who might have been more fortunate than she thought. Like Shawn.
"Hopefully by the time you're allowed to leave you wont want to."
She smiled and nodded. "I wouldn't mind staying. I feel like there are a lot of things here that are more important than running a business. And then there are all the nice people too." she added with a wink.
"Come on let's go somewhere else. Unless you want to stay here for a little longer."
She set down the empty glass on the bar, and stood. "Well, after seeing this club I'm curious what other places you know" she chuckled "What do you have in mind?"

"I guess we'll have to see how you feel about staying whenever your time's up." Streak smiled at Lily. He was glad that she was liking the mansion so far. He would hate to think the even though she was forced to live there she resented it. There was something to be said for her great attitude about the whole situation she was pushed into. "Well it is a nice night. We could always take a stroll in the park or something." Streak suggested. "I really didn't have any other place to show you. This was pretty much it. I was just planning on making it up as I go."
Streak stood up to go and paid the bartender. "We can always decide once we get outside." He then took her hand once again and started heading towards the exit of the building. They went down the flight of steps an past the bouncers. Once they were in the cool night air Streak asked, "So any place in particular you want to go?"
"And I was planning on going along with whatever you planned." Jewel grinned at him as they walked downstairs "I don't know New York City all that much. But I guess we always can come back here if we are out of ideas. C'mon." When they left the club, she took a deep breath of the cool air and smiled. She liked walking at night, especially when it was still warm enough to do so even in a dress like the one she was wearing right now. "That's one thing I like about the North" she continued her train of thought aloud "You can be outside in the summer and not breathe hot water like in Louisiana." Holding her handbag in one hand, she linked her arm into his as they walked. She did it out of habit, she didn't really need the balance. She looked towards the park at the end of the street. When she spoke again, she sounded cheerful: "A stroll it is. Let's see what else New York holds for us tonight."

Streak nodded in agreement. He continued listening to her talk. He'd never been to Louisiana but from what she'd said it sounded a bit like where he'd grown up. Lily looped her arm through his and he they began their stroll. They left his car there. Parked outside the club. He was feeling pretty confident right now. Streak had had a drink and he was out with a very pretty girl. What could possibly go wrong? "Yes let's." He agreed. The stroll was pleasant. The night air seemed to be just cool enough but also warm enough to not make them to cold to be outside.
There were plenty of alleyways dark streets around that could have turned this into a much different night. Streak couldn't help but let his paranoia slip out as he glanced down every alley and street to see if there were thugs that might want to jump them. However, Streak couldn't possibly see how someone would want to harm a girl that looked this great. Then again he could imagine it because it usually meant she was rich. Which in this case was true. He didn't start any conversation because he thought that Lily, with all her grace classes, would be better at finding something to talk about.
(OOC:feel free to get us jumped or something now if you want. or we can do it later)
(OOC: Five words, Streak: You were asking for it.)
Instead of finding something to talk about, Lily poked Shawn in the ribs. "Quietly enjoying the night or falling asleep here?" she laughed at him. Strange, said a small voice in the back of her mind, if you were alone out here you wouldn't be this confident. But hey, you're with an X-man, whatever that is. So... "Okay, fine, here's another question..." Whatever that question was, it got lost in the sudden noise of a car's engine roaring up and then the car itself as it passed them, speeding towards the end of the street. It took a left without ever slowing down, disappeared round the corner, and there was the loud screech of breaks as it came to a halt there. Apparently. For some unknown reason. And that rasied a whole new question to keep the conversation going. "...um, wasn't that your car?..."

Lily poked Streak in the stomach just the same as he did to her earlier in the bar. "Enjoying the night, definitely." He replied to her. They continued walking as he waited for her to ask her question that was brewing in her mind. Unfortunately both of their thoughts were distracted by a car zooming and screeching down towards them. The car zoomed past them and around the corner. Nice car. He thought. Then Lily made him realize why he thought it was such a nice car.
...um, wasn't that your car?..."
"No don't be silly. My cars back..." He turned to look. Wait his car should be right there. Streak stopped walking for a second. "Son of a bitch." He exclaimed before he started to walk at a much faster pace. Streak turned the corner where his car had turned. Luckily they hadn't gone to far. They were at the end of the block and actually standing around the car gawking at it. "Man these guys ain't that great at jacking cars." The two that were there were talking loudly about it. Bragging if you will. Streak would make sure that they don't do it again. Especially not around a mutant club. One of the car jackers saw them coming up and called the attention to his accomplice.
"What do you two want." One of them said. "Oh. does your girlfriend want some of this?" The other said. Both thugs then began making crude gestures and other things that you expect someone with low education to do when they're trying to act tough. "Look yall I just want my car back." Streak told them as he continued to walk closer. "If you don't want to give it back then I'll have to beat yall up in front of the lady and take my car back by force. Got it?" Streak said. There was a brief pause when the thugs realized that they weren't facing someone that was going to back down in a fight. Even if it was two on one. "Eh are you stupid or something man? There's two of us and it's just you. Unless you expect your chica to do some fighting. In which case we may have to take some other liberties with there." Streak chuckled. That was all it took to get a confused look from the two. What was his deal? They wondered. Although they started to move closer to Streak for a little intimidation.
"There aren't even enough of yall here to make me break a sweat beating you." Streak answered. "And if you think you're even going to touch her you're dead wrong." Streak replied to the two thugs. Unexpectedly, or rather expectedly, the two car jackers bum rushed Streak. Classic rookie mistake. Shawn thought a lesson is in order for these two. The silver eyed mutant simply side stepped them and sent a kick at the closest thugs stomach. The guy dropped to his knees trying to catch his breath while the second changed his missed direction to attack Streak for hitting his buddy. Throwing a few punches was the way the guy decided that he should go after the mutant. Shawn easily evaded and blocked the punches. He also threw in a few jabs of his own every once in a while, which would always make the guy angrier and angrier. Once again another easily place kick and the guy dropped. The first guy was starting to get up and Streak went right at him by putting a foot across his face. He would be out for a few hours. Then the mutant focused his attention back on the second opponent. The same type of kick seemed to do the trick for him also. The fight was now over and he was ready to continue his stroll. Streak turned to Jewel and said like nothing had happened, "So... Where were we? Oh ya you was going to ask me something."
(OOC: I'll come up with something better after a little bit.)
Somewhere deep down Jewel wasn't at all surprised at this turn of events; being out here at this time, they were almost asking for it. Shawn reacted as any guy would have when he sees his car jacked. Jewel kept up with him, turning the corner at almost the same time; seeing the thugs, her bracelets tightened around her wrist as a sign of her alarm... "Oh. does your girlfriend want some of this?" ... and her anger. She was smarter than saying anything back to them though; she only went as far as a very nasty look. Anyway, Streak seemed to be handling the situation just fine. Another rule for ladies: let the gents do the hard work. "And if you think you're even going to touch her you're dead wrong." She couldn't help but smirk. And theeere goes the knight in shining armor. Quite literally. The fight with all its impressiveness was over in less than a minute; all she had to do was stay out of the way. Another first in this week's events: her first time seeing a fight. She surprised herself by feeling more curiosity than anything else. She didn't have time to start worrying. Once Shawn the only one standing, she walked over to him, gracefully stepping over one of the thugs. "Wow." she raised an eyebrow, looking down at them "Now I feel safe." chuckling, she turned back to him "Wha.... oh. I wanted to ask you what it's like being an X-man. But I'll take this as part of the answer. Let's take this car out of here before someone else takes a fancy."

"That sounds like a good idea." Streak agreed. He started walking towards his car. He could only hope that the two idiots didn't do any damage to his car while they were breaking into it. From what he could tell they hadn't. "Let's drive to the park." Streak suggested. He definitely wasn't going to leave his car in that spot. There must've been a reason for them to park his car there. And he didn't even want to think about what that reason might have been. Once they were on their way to the park again he answered her question.
"Well being part of the X-Men actually includes a lot more fighting than you might expect. There's always missions, protecting humans from mutants and mutants from humans. Protecting the kids at the mansion, and trying to promote equality too. The equality thing is the hardest thing to accomplish. The battles are good, the missions are challenging but the one that takes the longest is trying to get humans so see us as equals and not freaks that need to be quarantined from the rest of the public." Streak's last comment had just the edge of bitterness to it. Because he knew that that was the entire purpose of the registration act and there was still resentment in both humans and mutants alike. One that might not even disappear in their lifetime. But one could always try.
She sighed a she listened to him. Most of what he said was what she'd already expected. "I hear you." she frowned "Equality is something people have been having problems with for centuries... I remember how much it cost to my parents to cover up in court that I was a mutant. Otherwise, I definitely wouldn't be out here. And it still makes me feel miserable that we had to do that." She was silent for a while as they drove towards the park. "... You know, the hard part is that even mutants can't seem to agree on most things. Hard to promote equality when some of us are attacking humans..." thinking back on her first adventure with that kind of situations, she sighed again "You know, I met her again the other day. The teenage girl with the aura who attacked the jewelry shop. You wouldn't believe it but she acted like we were friends. Apparently when she is not on some sacred mission for mutantkind, she's just a very confused girl out in the city. Freaked the hell out of me." Looking at Shawn, she smiled a bit. "That's what it's all about huh. We are still humans, no matter how strong our powers are. We dance, we drink, and we take a stroll in the park."

"Exactly." Streak agreed. "We may be different but we all still the same." Streak said. Their evening had turned into a serious one. He needed to think of something that would lighten the mood back up. Streak parked the car once they reached the park and got out. The place seemed empty enough to make it almost romantic. Streak started to hope his car wouldn't get jacked again while they were on their walk through the park. The water was calm and there were very few animals swimming on the water, but most were sleeping at this time. He waited for Jewel to get out of the car. He once again took her hand and started to walk away from his car. Streak paused for a second to make sure that he locked his car before they got to far away from it.
After making sure that his car was locked he started walking towards the sidewalk that surrounded the pond. It was peaceful out but Streak couldn't help but remember the time when a mutant lost control and threatened the scerenity and safety of this area. Thankfully they were able to subdue him before any real damage to people and property occurred. After thinking about that briefly he brought his attention back to Lily. "I hope thatittle fight didn't ruin your evening." He said trying to get the conversation going again and to avoid any of the awkward silences that might have happened if he didn't say somehing.
Lily got out of the car, and looked around; her smile returned - the evening wasn't at all ruined after all. She waited while Shawn made sure he locked the car, and let him take her hand as they walked. There was silence for a while, but not the kind people usually are afraid of. To tell the truth, Jewel rarely felt the pauses between conversations awkward. Maybe it was her education, or the time she spent at social events, or some natural talent that made her comfortable with not talking and still being in someone's company. Paying attention to how they walk, or move, or look. As they wandered away from the car and into the park, she felt the thrill of a night out without being watched or expected home by curfew. The feeling made her smile again; it also contained the faint sweet taste of tempting fate, after what happened earlier. When Shawn talked, she raised an eyebrow and looked up at him. "Little fight, huh." That's typically something a guy would say. It amused her. "Why, I thought that was part of the X definition of a night out. Is it not?..." She kept the serious face for a couple of seconds before laughing at him. "No, my evening is just fine. Don't worry about it... does this kind of stuff happen a lot to you?"

Streak thought she was serious for a second. That is until she started laughing. Then he thought of his reply. “Well ya know how it is…Ya go to a bar, have a few drinks, beat up a couple of low lifes, and kiss the girl.” Streak smiled at her as they walked closer to the park. “It sure does seem to happen a lot… But not always. I’m just glad that you’re still enjoying everything.” He’d know that she wanted to be part of the X-Men and one of the things that happened to be it was that you had to fight sometimes. Well to be quite honest you had to fight more than anyone would probably like to. But it was Darwinism at it’s finest. Survival of the fittest. “A lot of times it’s like you’re the runt in a litter full of other dogs and you keep getting picked on. The best way to stop it is to rise to the top and beat them all. Unfortunately that just seems to be how things work. Maybe once humans think of mutants as equals we won’t have to fight as much.
“You never told me how your training with Sam went the other day.” Streak said to her, the thought just jumping into his brain and out his mouth. He actually hadn’t gotten a chance to ask her yet and he wanted to know how much she’d learned from him with just one lesson. Streak would definitely like the opportunity to see what she can do; besides… based on his experience, fighting usually leads to getting stronger and more able with ones powers. And that was always a good thing.
"Kiss the girl, huh." she grinned at him, then nodded as he talked bout fighting "Yeah, I think I know what you mean." When he asked about her training with Sam, she chuckled. "Well, it was... very interesting. After I got hit in the stomach by a virtual fencing partner, he decided I was definitely a defense person, and came up with an idea for using my powers so. Look." Putting her palms together, her silver bracelets melted into each other, coating one hand in metal. She opened and closed her fist, holding it up. "Kind of copying what you do..." she smirked "Sam made me block his hits. Three out of six, and some blue and green coloring here and there." she summarized the training, rubbing her stomach. "It was not as bad as I thought it would be. Definitely a first as far as getting hit goes, but not hopeless. I'm looking forward to learning more." Melting her bracelets back into form, she looked up at him, tilting her head as she waited for his comments.

(OOC: Sorry for the delay. life's been rough)
Streak listened to her answering his questions. He laughed a little as he remembered some of his experiences in the training room that didn't always seem to go so well for him or for the other people that might have been in there with him. When she mentioned being a defensive person Streak put on a pretend shocked face. He obviously wasn't surprised but he did think that that fit her personality and history of fighting much more than some of the other people he'd trained with. Shawn looked at her as she demonstrated what she'd accomplished with her powers through just one training session with Sam. Finally he spoke up. "Very impressive. I like it. But then again I can do that with my entire body so it would only make sense that I like it."
He nodded as she continued to talk. "Three out of six isn't bad. And I'm sure you'll get better with the more you practice." Streak encouraged her. Although he couldn't help but think again of what she'd be able to do if she were able touch him while he was covered in silver. As they continued to walk Streak thought he heard some extra footsteps besides the two of them. However, every time he'd look back behind him he didn't see anyone. Street lights seemed to be vanishing as they continued their walk in the night air and everything seemed to be getting darker all around them. Maybe it was his paranoia again or maybe he was just not paying attention to anything else around them because he was enjoying his time with Lily. Either way there was something nagging at the back of his mind. Although now he thought about it how often was it that it really was paranoia and not something that he heard coming to surprise them. "And you shall be my Mini Me. Mwahahaha." Streak said making that small joke even though he still heard the footsteps behind them every now and then.
"Very impressive. I like it. But then again I can do that with my entire body so it would only make sense that I like it."
Jewel smiled proudly. She knew that what she did probably didn't seem so impressive for Streak, but it was still a huge step forward for her. "Good for you. I can only cover that much if I start carrying a jewelry store around with me. That would be a fashion scandal." she added with a grin as they walked on. Shawn's attention seemed to wander; she did understand that, after what happened earlier. She could imagine he felt himself responsible for her safety. Not to mention being cautious was probably his second nature after all he'd been through. And he was still cool enough to make a joke. "Keep dreaming, silver mine." she poked him in the ribs, chuckling "If anyone's becoming a sidekick here, that's you." And then she heard the footsteps. Her hand found Streak's once again as she glanced around. Her powers reached out; a tiny, shiny point - not bigger than some tiny fragment of silver in some bling or gadget - showed up on her radar, moving slowly among the shadows, but she lost track of it after a few seconds. Streak's silver glowed like a full moon next to her, making it difficult to sense anything else. She shook her head. Was it just her, or was it really getting darker out here? "Did you hear footsteps too?" she looked up at him "Um, I guess we are not the only couple that likes a stroll in the park." she added with a tiny smile. She didn't believe what she said.
