The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Daria's eyes, if it's even possible, glazed over with tears and created a sorrowful look of joy. It had been a bit over a year, but there they were again, Mike floating them above the campus, Daria's arms wrapped tightly around his neck. She should've been used to flying by now but she wasn't.
"You may have saved this school." Daria laughed, thinking back to when sheh ad first come here on a mission from the labs. "Meeting you really changed my mind about my job."
"I'd like to think that you would've come around even without me," Mike smiled slightly. "But I know what you mean. You changed my life. I can't imagine myself without you." He looked into her eyes, brushing the stray tears away. "And I don't ever want to."

Daria smiled brightly and kissed him again.
"You know, I NEVER get tired of hearing you say that. You don't have to ever bee without me Mike, I never go anywhere...you're the one who passes out for months straight." she teased.
Mike smirked. "Well, you get kidnapped sometimes, so I don't know if that counts," he said, winking. "And I'm glad you don't want to go anywhere... because I never want you to." It probably wouldn't have occurred to Daria that they'd passed right by their bedroom window a couple times while he was circling the school... after all, she'd forgotten the reason that that room would be significant. And she probably still wouldn't remember that reason as Mike let go of her so she was standing in midair, and knelt in the air next to her, the small box that had flown out the window behind him in his hand. He smiled up at her as he opened it. "Daria... will you stay with me forever?" he asked, his eyes glowing gold.

It was a good thing Mike was holding her up because Daria felt like she should've been falling.
Her emerald eyes glimmered with tears that had been stinging and fighting to emerge, and they fell, tiny sparkling orbs on her brown cheeks, glowing with moonlight. She could barely see the ring through her tears and she cocked her head gently to the side, her ears flattening softly against her head and her tail swaying anxiously.
She dropped to her knees too and threw her arms around Mike's knees, not feeling that he should be on a lower level at the moment.
"YES, MIKE! Yes, I will stay with you forever!" she barely said it before she began sobbing and pulled back a little so Mike could put the ring on her shaking finger.
Mike slid the ring on her finger, then pulled her tightly into his arms, his calm demeanor breaking as they spun in the air a few times, happy tears glowing as they dripped away from his glowing eyes. "God, I love you," he whispered into her ear.

I love you too Daria said in her mind because she was sobbing too hard to speak and because she felt it was much more intimate.
The first time she'd really gotten close to Mike was in the lunchroom the day they were searching for Tricity and he'd accidentally let her have some of his violent and personal memories when he was getting some of hers. So she knew from experience exactly how powerful recieving emotions were.
So she sent him the exact fear she felt when she had to watch his torture, the guilt she felt when she left him and the exact, soul shattering helplessness she felt when he was in a coma and she couldn't do anything about it. So maybe, even though Mike was always and always would be in her head, maybe he would understand what she sent next.
An account, ever since the first time, of each time he told her her ears and tail were fine, cute or sexy. She sent an account of her reccollection of all of his 'I love you's" his reassuring hugs and kisses, in order to make him understand how special he made her feel. She sent a vision of what she sincerely felt her visit home would've been like if he hadn't come with her to Washington D.C, she sent an account of what she felt like when they were together, when he looked her in the eyes, when he did little things like go on picnics, or telling one of the younger boys to give her a flower, complimenting her on her art work, every bit of encouragement to show Mike not only why exactly she said yes but why it literally tore at her heart whenever he said anything negative about himself when she just didn't think any of it mattered.
Her eyes stayed on him through all of this. "Mike?" she asked in a very small voice, her face glowing with tears.
And right back into her head, she received the way she made him feel... whether she was curling up with him at night, or holding him when he was at his worst, telling him that everything would be ok. How it made his heart leap whenever she told him she loved him, the electrifying feeling he got whenever she kissed him. The unimaginable contentment he felt knowing she had escaped Fusionist, and the desperate longing for her that had led him back across the Astral plane to his body to find her.
He smiled slightly, pressing a finger to her lips. "No need for words right now, baby," he whispered, before pressing his lips against hers.
And she could shake all she wanted... Mike had her, and wasn't letting go. They drifted quickly and gently downward, until they were right outside their window. Mike gave it a mental flick open, and they floated gently inside... where everything for a while was inexplicably very, very black. ((FTB))
