The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I mean, we're dropping through a tree. And one that's rather-" Mike was cut off briefly as their feet touched down on a very thick branch that supported their weight without bending. "-sturdy."

Daria instinctivly uncurled her tail from around her leg for balance and backed up against the tree trunk. she looked down at the grounds and the few people who passed below she wondered if they could see between the branches. In the day, Daria had been able to see through, but it was night now. Not that the two times were different for her because she could see perfectly in the dark.
"mmhmm, a secluded tree? My dear Micheal, I do believe you want to feed that rumor mill." she said smiling.
"Well, since no one can see us up here, I figure we're safer here from prying eyes. Besides..." His eyes never strayed from her as he grinned, "I love the view up here."
Mike shrugged. "After a while, anything we do could just fade into the realm of 'business as usual' to them, and they'll lose interest. Unless, of course, we keep upping our antics, in which case we'll gain a cult following... which could be interesting in itself, of course," he said, a thoughtful look on his face.
He smiled and kissed her before speaking again. "I'm not going to wake up in the morning to find out that I've been dreaming all of this in the infirmary, am I?"
"I sure hope not, because if you're dreaming then I'm dreaming too." she shrugged. "I don't know, you tend to surprise me. I know I won't be initiating these antics but I'm not so sure about you." she laughed slightly as a breeze blew through the branches making the dry leaves rattle in a scattered symphony.
Mike smiled at her reply. He was still nervous, but it was because he was afraid of moving things too quickly and scaring her off. They'd both been through a lot, but the things he'd been through, along with his basic nature, made him reach out to find someone to connect to, while she'd admitted that being open with people tended to frighten her. Still, things seemed to go well so far.
"So we just see where things go, then?" he asked, brushing her cheek with his hand.

Daria thought for a moment. 'Seeing where things went ' was an open-ended situation. She, like any other female wanted commitment but Mike had the right idea. The word "relationship" was just so constricting to Daria that she probably would've panicked had the issue came up. She didn't have issues with faithfulness, she had issues with demands. Daria could see that she and Mike were already very close and a part of her was still afraid of that closeness.
Michael nodded as he felt a surge of emotions and fragments of thoughts that seemed to confirm what he'd been suspecting. He considered his next words carefully, but decided that keeping things out on the table was the best idea at the moment.
"I don't want to scare you," he said, very seriously, "You've already told me about the problems you have, I'm not ignoring them. I don't expect anything, I'm not planning for anything. We can be as much or as little as you want. I'm not going to push you into anything you're not comfortable with." He kissed her lightly, "I want you to trust me and be comfortable with me, and no, I don't expect that to completely happen quickly, or even easily."
Mike rolled his eyes. "You say this now when I'm evened out. I'm in a good mood, so I'm on top of things. Just wait until there are bad things happening, I'll be a wreck."
Mike shrugged. "Well, we didn't really get badly hurt for all of it, so while it was hard and dangerous, nothing bad happened. It was close, though... every time I'm in a situation like that, it feels like I'm just on the verge of losing it, just snapping and going ballistic. It's like it starts building in my chest, whatever it is that's going on, that I'm feeling and everyone else is feeling... anger, rage, fear, sadness... then it starts feeding on itself and growing..." He shook his head. "As long as I stay happy, or at least calm, I'm fine... anything else, though, and I start feeling like a time bomb."

"Wow" Daria said nodding. Mike had a very complex power and she didn't know exactly how to respond to that information. On one hand it was a scary thought; but Daria had her own 'blind rage issues' so she couldnt really talk. On the other hand, the following was true.
"It takes a very powerful person to be able to handle your ability, Mike." She began. "I mean, anyone can be physically strong, but to be as mentally fit and emotionally fit-even if you dont think you always are-thats a real feat. I mean, so many people would crack under that kind of pressure and responsibilty. You know you think about it all time; hearing people's thoughts could drive you crazy, but feeling their emtions could do worse."
"Well, I already told you, it did drive me crazy for a while... at least a little bit. And I've slipped up more than I've kept myself reigned in." He stared at his feet as pictures of all the people he'd hurt, particularly the one he crippled, flashed through his mind before he pushed them out. "I still have to learn to keep myself grounded, so I can hang on when I just want to go nuts." He looked up at her and smiled weakly, "For what it's worth, I don't completely lose my mind. I wouldn't hurt any of my friends, I just get... out of control, out for blood and way too capable of getting it."
