The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Mike just grinned. "No... maybe not, but that was the plan. Be a power-lawyer, shoot for high offices, have a family that looks good in campaignes, make lots of money." He thought for a moment, "Honestly, it wasn't MY plan, but it's the one I was going by."

"Well," Daria began choosing her words carefully "Life happened right? So you gotta change plans. I mean weren't you passionate about anything? Like maybe you wanted to skip the whole wife and kids thing and travel?"
"I didn't really have a chance to be, really. Maybe that's why this all happened to me... at least this way, I have a chance to be passionate about something... ANYTHING."

Daria blushed deeply once more as Mike entered her mind. She licked her lips. Meeting his gaze she answered. "Well...you look like a cat person to me."

Daria surprised herself and, probably, Mike, by not moving away when he got closer. She couldn't really go anyplace. She smiled back and glanced at his mouth before replying
"Well, no, but cats are much more passionate." she purred.
Since it really wasn't necessary for him to hold her up, as both of them were supported with his mind, Mike, pulled her closer until she was 'standing' in front of him, kissing her passionately as they turned slowly in the air, high above the mansion.

Daria closed her eyes and relaxed-though she thought she was going to tense up again. But her tension with Mike never lasted very long, she realized as she "stood" and wrapped her arms around his neck pressing her body against his.
The thought flashed through her head that she had never kissed a guy whom she had only known a day and with whom she had never gone out on a formal date. The thought was jumpy because she couldn't-and didnt really want to- concentrate on anything else. But Daria was an analytical creature by nature and Daria wasnt satisfied till she had convinced herself that all through which she and Mike had been through would have been the equivalent of like a month had she been in normal circumstances.
To Mike, this seemed natural. True, they'd met the day before, but he'd spent the entire day in her mind. She knew more about him than anyone else, and he knew the same of her. His only concern was her reaction, and she didn't seem to have any reservations either.
Worries would come later. At the moment, all that mattered was the girl in his arms.

Finally, when the moment seemed right, Daria pulled away. She looked up at Mike and smiled before laying her head on his shoulders. The moment had been perfect, and still was.
Mike just held her there, his eyes closed, a hand brushing through her braids. Floating in the air, far from anything making any noise whatsoever, it was easy to believe that there wasn't anyone else, wasn't anything else in the world... It was even easy to believe that there WASN'T a world, there was just them.
Finally, after a long, comfortable silence, Mike's smile got its usual teasing smirk again, but not quite as much as it normally would. "I suppose you wouldn't believe me if I said I hadn't hoped this would happen up here?" he said quietly.
