The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Living and working in New York certainly had its perks. Like the occasional movie shoot or celebrity sighting. There was an infinite stream of interesting clientele who came to visit Vega at work and even more interesting people who passed by the large plate glass windows.
Of course it had it's downsides too. Like protesters. Mutant. Protesters. As if they could really protest the existence of a group of people who already existed. Besides, the Government had already decided that they existed. And that they had rights? Or something? Ghost hadn't really looked at the exact wording of the laws, but at least they weren't in camps anymore.
It didn't seem dangerous necessarily, they weren't allowed to hurt anyone physically anyway. But it really wasn't her favorite when they started throwing things. It was like the PETA people had gotten bored and decided to hate someone else. People blinded by hate didn't seem very original. So now the red paint was to tag a mutie rather than to represent blood? Or was it all the human blood mutants had spilled? Or that human blood was good and red and mutant blood was also red and that meant everyone should sing kumbayah together...? Excepting that someone was just hypothetically doused in red paint, the last option was what Ghost was hoping for.
The Full Circle Book Store wasn't very far from Central Park, which was a favorite destination for all kinds of political statements. Vega was grateful that white hair wasn't enough to get her doused in red on her short walk from the bus stop to the revolving door of the Full Circle. But now she was inside the store, mid-shift, and feeling guilty.
The store was mostly empty as was normal per this time of day, but it felt strange with all the people so close outside. There was a sort of pressure to the air that had nothing to do with the elemental. At times when a customer left or entered the store, Ghost was able to hear snippets of conversation, chanted themes about social change, or shrieks that could only mean someone had gotten painted. It was stupid. If they were readily identifiable as a mutant, why did they need to be doused in paint?
It was a kind of torture to only hear those snippets when the revolving door brought in fresh sounds, but no where near as bad as what would happen if they doused the wrong mutant.
Here, at the bookstore, Ghost was Vega. A human. Though by now the other employees had at least guessed that Vega had some vested interest in mutants, they probably hadn't guessed what she could do. She'd been careful to hide herself in plain site.
Vega wobbled a bit on the sliding ladder near the emergency exit. The walls were lined with books floor to ceiling near the entrance and had a romantic sliding ladder that allowed employees to access the upper echelons of book selling... or something. The rest of the store was normal but it made for a great show for the street display. In reality they mostly kept their display copies, expensive rarities, and extra copies out of easy reach so the ladder was mostly for show. Except when something ran out.
She was grabbing a few too many copies of Chemistry For Dummies for her own good.
Rena stood a ways from the protesters, growling slightly. Humans again showing their true colors once again. Running a hand through her long slightly unkempt hair she forced herself to calm down as much as she could. She would have loved to jump in and start laying humans low, but their were a lot of them and as she had proven the other night, her powers were not quite developed enough to simply begin killing indiscriminately. She looked up at where they were goatherd and took note of the book store.
She did like books and so swallowing her pride she pushed through the crowd, mentally making sure her Aura did not kick in from the jostling she received as she made her way through, not for the first time, she considered beheading a few of them but again she forced herself to remain calm, making the door she slipped in and breathed a few long sighs of relief, she was glad their was so few people in the store.
Walking around the book store unsure of it's layout she looked up at the woman not for what she was doing, but Aura's eyes traveled over the womans body considering her, she was pretty, Aura ducked down one of the isles as she did not want to draw to much attention to what she had been doing. She did her best to browse books but she let out a sigh as she heard another scream from outside. "Humans" SHe mutterd to herself.
Now this was the exact reason why humans and mutants could never co-exist with one another. If anyone thought that there was even a tiny bit of a chance of coexistence between the two races, 'cause that's what they might as well have been, was an utter fool. There may have been some kind of tenuous civility, but it was complete rubbish. Just a state of being brought on by some federal law that said they couldn't act up. Given half the chance she wouldn't have been surprised if the gangs went further than dousing people in paint. This was no longer a case of co-existence. Maybe at one time... but no. This was survival of the fittest. And who exactly was the fittest then in that case? Well, Megan certainly had her opinion on the matter. After all, which group were the evolved ones? She wasn't on any particular side of the disagreement though, don't get it wrong. Rather, she preferred to be the neutral observer than one of the excruciatingly outspoken speakers of either side of the argument. If Megan had a more aggressive form then maybe she would have bothered confronting these bullies and proving that so what if they can't get along well together. That meant nothing at all to be honest. Someone needed to be the bigger man and realise that something needs to be sorted or else things were just going to expand into a full scale war.
Living through any number of wars, having spent time in the bodies of soldiers, she had seen how different groups react to each other. It was human nature to pray on 'perceived weakness' in fact if she were being honest it was animal nature to do so. They were evolving. This was the point. The end result could be nothing more than the weaker group losing and the strong passing on their genes to the next generation. She had read Darwin, oh sure it was a good few decades a go now but it all made perfect sense. This was a turning point in history. Only time would tell. Something she could not stand however was this pointless bullying and humiliation. If they were going to be aggressive then why didn't they just get on with it rather and messing around like a bunch of pansies. It irritated her every time she saw this childish behaviour. If they were afraid then fair play to them, but this redirection of emotion was appalling.
A quick glance brought the existence of the Full Circle book store to her attention. Now there was something that would calm her down. A good book. Mr. Eaton had taught the value of a young man being educated, reading all the important books by all the important essayists and authors. She had never let that nugget of information go. It was as important to her now as when her father had said it all those many years a go. Back when she still had her original body, back when she wasn't exactly 'she'. It was complicated and books weren't. That was the attraction really. You could use your mind. Make up your own ideas about the subject material. Better than life? Well, not really, but at least with a book you didn't need to have anyone forcing their stupid ideals down your throat.
A smile passed across her face as she stepped through the door. A number of people turned there heads to look at her, but then again when you were currently sporting shocking hot pink hair and had a number of visible piercings. It was quite attention grabbing, something that would make a normal person the target of prejudice. Of course, when you were a 5'3” Asian woman there was a certain allowance one got on things. It just made her cute. It had played on her mind for the years she had been in control of this body. Whether people wanted to admit it or not gender did play a part in the judgement of others. After a short second or too most of the people turned away again. In a way Megan enjoyed the attention. As long as it was warranted that is.
One of the more interesting people in the store was a white haired shop girl struggling up a ladder with a pile of books perhaps a bit too large for her, but then again this was her job and she knew what she could handle no doubt. Megan began browsing.
"Damn right" she muttered to no one in particular at hearing an off handed comment about humans from one of the patrons of this little shop.
It was one of those day the Cailyn had beter stayed indoors. She explored new york city again and found lots of screaming people that gathered. She was curious why they where all screaming and yelling. Was it dinner time in the asylum was one of the thoughts that pondered through her head. As she came closer it wasn't dinner at the asylum for sure. All cailyn picked up was hatefull thoughts and angry ones. It made her scared and gave her head aches. She had to get out of there. She hid her head in her jacket and she moved inside the first door she could find.
She seemed to have stumbled upon a bookstore or atleast something with books. Cailyn didn't grasp the full meaning of stores yet and she didn't know much about money either but she could stay here for a while and hide from the angry mob. She slowly slipted through the bookcases not know what was in store for her. It was another adventure for her seeing as all the bookcases where like a maze to her. as she moved through the bookcases all she picked up was nice calm thoughts. If she needed to relax her mind this was the place to be. One person though seemed to dislike something particular. She didn't need to pick that up with her mind at all seeing as she muttered it. She poked her head around the corner of a bookcase to see a girl standing there. She looked at her but picked up nothing. the voices where silent about her. She raised a brow and softly said to herself: "Am i broken." She looked around the other corner to see another person browsing through the bookcases. Whispers started slipping through her mind again about the person. "Guess not." She softly said to herself again and she looked at the girl again. Nothing as if there would be a tumbleweed passing by. She returned to the other persons and her powers worked again. She repeated this process a couple of time and it freaked her out a bit. She turned with her back to the edge of the bookcase and let herself slide down so she could sit down and ponder what was going on.
Every time Vega heard the bell trigger by the pressure mat inside the rotating door, Vega was compelled to say "Welcome to the Full Circle." And it seemed that a nice, quiet bookstore seemed the perfect refuge from the growing storm outside so she was compelled to say it... what? At least three times before she even started back down the ladder.
An overweight, middle aged man with a silver name tag that read Benny walked around the floor while Vega was fetching the books for him. He was technically stocker today, but his weight made the ladder too precarious and Vega never minded. Usually it wasn't that big a deal, but apparently dummies needed a lot of help because those books were big!
The sudden influx of custom made her feel the need to hurry, however, and that was just a disaster waiting to happen. A few books spilled out the sides of her arms and under her elbows as she started to make her way down the wobbly ladder. At least it was secured to the rail at the top of the wall because Vega miss stepped and missed the third from last rung of the ladder. She tumbled back on her butt into the window display area.
That would have been fine, but nerves were making Ghost leak a little. Her impact wasn't as solid as it should be, her form blurred slightly as if for a moment she was a bit too see through. Even that shouldn't have been a problem except that today anything anomalous was getting doused in red paint and Ghost had just gone a little Ghosty in the Front window of the Full Circle Book Store where all the protestors could see.
There was a moment where the world seemed to stop and breathe a sharp intake of breath.
Ghost chose to take that moment to turn wide-eyed toward the open-mouthed group standing the legal limit from the front of the store. Yeah. They saw. And now that the brief pause for shock was gone they were coming.
OOC: Feel free to have Benny greet you. He's only an NPC employee. Just play him friendly. Also, feel free to wreak havoc on my store by bringing in some angry NPCs if you so desire. XD I brought this upon myself after all.
Aura browsed though the Inuyasha manga something she had collected almost all off, before she ran away from home and joined up with Miracles rag tag group. Still she stole a few Glances at Ghost, until an Asian girl walked in, though she was cute and certainly drew the eye, she was not quite Aura's type. For one she dislike peirceings other then the ears, finding them just ugly to look at, she usually tried to look away from such things if she could. Looking back down to her book she was again distracted by another girl. This one kept looking at her then moving to the other isle. She was wrongly interpreting this to be attention from another girl who liked the look of her. her heart fluttered a bit at the thought. The plop of several books on the floor, however drew her attention almost right away, she had learned to take notice of loud noises around her. They She saw Ghost's begin to fall and moves to help her though she was a bit to Late, she smiled when she saw the woman was a mutant, but looking past her the crowd had become riled up by the site of the incident.
Only seconds passed before a large rock shattered one of the display Windows, a second was aimed for Ghost, but Rena leapt past, and cut the rock in half diverting it, as pink blade appeared patrudeing from her wrist, the girl was bathed in pink see through light, She was smiling, she enjoyed combat like some girls enjoyed shopping, This only got the Humans more riled, up and a wooden sign bounced off of, her shield. The growled unable to see the coward who had tossed the object. She backed a way a bit torn, suddenly, she felt she had to guard the mutant she knew was in the store and yet she really wanted to impale someone. To reach out and showed she cared about the envirment.
A brave human or, just one who had not seen her display, Attempted to push past her, reflexively, Aura swung, cutting very deeply into the human males side. The Blade emerged from his back spaying blood off to her side, he fell to the ground with a loud thud, the semi wide cut, stretched several inches past his side, right where a kidney should be, a puddle of blood quickly gathered around him, and Aura could feel it, as drops leaked through the bottoms of her well work tennis shoes. "Human Filth!" She yelled, her blade Pointed at the crowd, but despite, the hail of rocks now aimed at her, Aura stayed strong, forming a second sword with her other wrist to deflect some of the rocks from true impact, she was quite glad non of these morons had brought a gun.She glanced Back at ghost, it hardly ocurring to her it had only been a few moments from the time she had left the store thought the now open window, she wanted to make sure ghost was ok.
The white haired young beauty who had been struggling with her load of books, fell from the ladder and into the front window display, turning partially transparent in the process. So the girl was a mutant, big deal. There had to be one close by aside from herself, they weren't that much of a minority when you counted up numbers. The media liked to put their own 'more interesting' spin on the story. Always had throughout history, and always would. It may not have been a big deal to Megan but the human mob outside the store front had other ideas. It was mere moments between the shop girl falling and two rocks sailing through the window and a split second after that, that one of the shop goers leaped forward and sliced and deflected both rocks in a flurry of pink knife fury. It didn't even take long for her to jump out of the window and attempt to prove to the crowd that they had nothing to gain from attack the 'ghost girl'.
Of course they didn't listen. They wouldn't be human otherwise.
It only took a moment for Megan to fly into a rage. She had never been a strong supporter of either side, but this was simply cruel. The girl wasn't even that old, she had her whole life ahead of her. What on Earth gave these idiots the right to attempt to take that away from anyone. Even if they weren't killers at heart, singling people out was far worse. Having to live your life in the shadows because you couldn't 'afford' another slip up was hell. Megan knew that all too well. Thank goodness she had a way out. Or used to.. The pink haired girl was about to join the other mutant outside when a third rock came sailing through the closed door and pass her head, crashing into a book shelf and splintering a number of book spines. The rock was followed by a mad grinning young man, clearly blinded by anger. Luckily no one was foolish enough to follow his lead.
Coolly facing the man Megan smiled a sweet smile, “Well hi there” She said cutely, putting her hands in her pockets, she had a plan, unknown to others. Her grin was almost too eerie. “I'm here for the freak, not you, why would I want to hurt someone like you?” He replied, panting as if the gang had been roaming around for a while in the quest to prove that humans where better than mutants. ”Well, probably, 'cause if you don't you might regret it” She said in exactly the same voice. There was no need getting overly angry as it would just fuel the rage. “What's that supposed to mean, you airhead?!” He said, getting even more riled up. Perfect. “Oh well...” She feigned turning away, before turning back and pulling her hand from her pocket. Slowly but surely a bizarrely large knife was pulled from the small, shallow pocket on Megan's jacket. The physics were entirely impossible. That knife could not have been sitting in that pocket. And yet here it was. “Do you like it? Its pretty huh?”
The man backed off, clearly he was worried for her sanity but even more so, “You're one of those freaks too.” Pulling the door open violently, more glass shattering from the frame. “Oi! Guys! There's a whole load of them in here!”
Through this all, the shop assistant, Benny, was attempting to save a load of books that had particular importance to himself and the store. Not that they had been damaged... but 'yet' was the key word. He wasn't taking any chances. He was obviously a kind man, who hated to see violence, let alone in the book shop he worked at. Poor fella.
Cailyn sat there thinking things through until suddenly people started throwing rocks. Windows went down, people get hurt and gotten angry but Cailyn only got scared. She sat there in her corner screaming out of scaredom with her hands protecting her head. She was scared mostly because of all the hatefull thoughts running through her head. Nobody their had a peacefull thought lingering anywhere and it made her insane.... well more insane if that is possible. This was a very stressfull situation on her little mind and she could not take it. All she could do was what she normally did in any of these situations: Try to hide and try not to get hurt. Mostly in the asylum she failed at it seeing as the guards mostly just hit her for no reason at all. But now that she was out of there it was worth a shot seeing as she had more playing field
She started to cry and shouted: "Leave me alone." She thought all the people hated her and technicly they did since she was a mutant. "I don't wanna get hurt." She shouted some more. People went to the streets in a attempt to fight it out. She just remained there in her corner being scared as rocks flew trough the air and people where fighting. She could not take any type of violence, a specially violence against mutants. She wanted to do something but she was to scared and she sniffed in her corner doing everything to protect herself from the people fighting outside.

OOC: Hey girls. Hope you don't mind me joining.
Alex was driving slowly down one of New York's many streets. Traffic was touch and go as a massive protest blocked part of the street. Alex sighed and leaned on the window of his car. Couldn't they have announced their protest on the radio, told people they would be blocking the road? No, of course not. Alex let out an explosive sigh.
Someone in the crowd shouted and hurled a rock at one of the stores on the side of the street ahead of Alex. Alex recognized the store, having bought some textbooks from there several weeks ago. The crowd surged towards the store and Alex got a good look at one of the signs.
"DOWN WITH THE MUTANT MENACE!"
Alex grit his teeth and swerved over, cutting off another car that was inching forward. The car's horn blared, but Alex ignored it, riding up on the side walk as he pushed into an open spot. He quickly exited his car, ran around and shoved a couple of quarters from his pockets into the meter. HE then turned and ran towards the crowd. He would be damned before he let someone lynch one of his fellow mutants.
Alex ran up and grabbed a guy from the back of the crowd, sliding his glasses into a case as he did so. "What is going on? What is with the riot?"
"One of those mutant freaks was trying to hide in the book store. We're going teach her a lesson."
"So, you're attacking a girl as well as a mutant." Alex let his powers activate, and lightning danced and sparked from his eyes. The protestor paled. "Shame on you."
A bolt of lightning shot from his eyes and impacted the man's sternum. The man flew back and knocked over several more people, as the crowd noted that they were under attack from the rear.
Alex slid his glasses into pocket, and stuck out his left hand. Lightning danced around the parking meter he was standing by, and ripped it from the concrete. It slid into his hands and he gripped it tightly, letting lightning dance around and spark from it. Intimidation was always nice in a battle.
It was such a small thing. Just a rock sailing through the air. Strange how such a small thing could start so much. Ghost should have stopped it. She should have deflected it. She should have closed her mouth before that little rock shattered the glass.
And then everything was going too fast. Somewhere along the way she had turned away. When she turned back there was a girl bathed in pink light with a pink sword. Talk about girl power. She deflected several more thrown objects and Ghost tried to reach out to her ally, her fellow mutant. Glass fell like rain from her body as she moved to touch the girl's ankle.
"Don't hurt anyone, pl-" A shoe collided with her chin hard enough to turn her head and distract her momentarily. She looked at it shocked. Someone would walk home missing a shoe because hitting her was worth more than retaining ownership of the shoe. Ghost wasn't scared until now. She hadn't seen this kind of pure, unadulterated hate since... well, since the camps.
Ghost looked up to the girl in pink. "Please." But it seemed too late as someone was charging them. The sound of more breaking glass made her turn away and see that more enraged people had entered the store and not all of them through the revolving door. She saw a girl that was already inside the store pull a... well it was huge and sharp and there was no way it should have fit in her pocket.
"Please don't hurt them, just get them out of the store. Benny! Call the police. We need backup. Human. Backup." Her tone was normal, but the volume was as loud as if she were speaking a PA system. All she needed was to see the huge blades her fellow femmes were wielding to shake her out of her stupor. These people were too angry to be thinking straight. Not everyone had the moral qualms with pain and death that Ghost did. As was obvious by the hot and sticky liquid pooling under her leg where she sat.
She didn't have to look down to know that it was blood. The man that had rushed them... she hadn't imagined that the pink girl would be so quick to... She didn't want to think about what she had to do to get that much blood. Ghost took her time standing. The wise guy with the shoe felt the need to throw the other, but Ghost fielded this one sending it harmlessly to the side with a sharp blast of wind.
These people were stupid with their hate, blinded by it even. They were like a zombie hoard, their only strength was in numbers. One on one the mutants were too much stronger. The police would just have to understand that she was working in the best interest of all involved when she did what she did. The more space between them and the bloodthirsty, the better.
She inhaled, calming herself before letting out a steady breath. The breath grew and she raised her arms to aid her focus in sustaining the strong buffeting winds. She expanded the are between the store front and the crowd of people with a grand push and then focused on expanding her flimsy barrier to cover the entire store front. Now they were protected from projectiles and anyone wanting into the store would have to push through the strong winds she was sustaining. Ghost couldn't hold it forever, bust she just hoped that the police would show up in a timely manor.
Aura knocked several people aside as they tried to pass, her the issue was simply that their were so many. She had to wonder if she was just that weak. Aura, could feel objects striking her aura barrier contently, most barely regiustirred but a few made her stagger however as larger rocks sometimes broke through her blades and struck her directly, in the chest or shoulder. Ghost's please were muffeled under her anger and the sounds of screaming all around her. Aura's blades began to flow again this time the swords instead turned into saw like blades, each blade spinning rapidly, the blades went through her fist with each spin, though really, the aura was simply passing around her. She blocked a swing from a metal pipe, it hurt, but Aura, already sliced into the man, her stroke, was sloppy, but the man was cut, from his thigh to his shoulder, the blade had sunk, deep. He fell back, the blow would almost certainly be fetal, as it was point black. Her fury, anger and rage could be felt as a great wave of anguish to those who could pence it. They were getting past her, her eyes looked side to side, as she backed up, against the shattered remains of the window. She glimpsed back trying desperately to make sure, none of them would die. She would not allow it again. And then the objects stopped their hail, many of them blown aside by by a veil of wind. She nodded with a smile of thanks, as she sat down, glass crunching under her aura as she sat an inch off the actual windowsill. The girl in the back seemed able to take care of things thare.
"Thank you my friend, the animals are in force today!" She said, it was clear she was used to fighting and enjoyed it. She Wiped some of the blood off, her blade by scraping it against the wall. She had no idea weather Ghost actually agreed with her or not. "I would have struck harder, but i did not know weather you could defend yourself or not, however i fear the Human's hounds are already on the way" She said going on, hatred flaring across her face and eyes when she said the word human. She had not noticed Brainstorm, if she had she would have asked, Ghost to part the barrier for her.
She had not grasped the idea ghost had prolbely used the barrier to protect them from her as well. She had no hesitation to strike, to her it was simply life, you fought and survived, or you were killed. Looking Down, she gave a sigh shaking her head slightly. She could feel the adrenneline begin to recede within her. She pushed some hair from her face.
"You have that handled back there?" She called to the girl with the impressive sized blade. She wanted to make sure, she needed no aid while barrier held. She was Unsure how well bullets would fare against the wind, but she knew she could take a few, but she could not deflect or cut them like the rocks, they were just to quick.

Alex grunted as he was slammed into the wall. Apparently, one of the men in the crowd was not afraid to take a blow. Alex had knocked a couple of men to the ground, bleeding, when one of his would-be victims had grabbed the meter and used it to hurl him into the wall.
Alex glared at the man. He was built like a bear and was grinning as he hefted the stolen meter. "Fine. You take my club. You are my club."
A bolt of energy leapt from his eyes and inveloped the man, who looked shocked as he tried to swing the club. Grinning, Alex spun him away, dropping him in front of the door way, crushing a couple of the guys swarming towards the door. Unfortunately, that seemed to draw the crowd's attention to Alex. Alex winced. "Right, time to duck out." Alex slammed into the crowd, blasting the guys in front of him to the side, then side-stepped through the broken window of the store.
Alex's sparking eyes widened as he met a gale of wind. He paused for a moment, struggling against the wind, before being blown back into the crowd. A pair of guys grabbed his arms, and Alex glanced at them.
"Hey boys. Sorry but I can't hold your hands right now." Both were cast off by a surge of lightning. Alex winced. He always got burns when he channeled through his arms.
These lot in the shop would have to go and be a bunch of pacifists wouldn't they. There was the hysterical girl hiding in the corner shouting something about not wanting to be hurt. Honestly, if she wanted to stay alive she should have just kept her big mouth shut. Maybe it was lucky for her that she wasn't a mutant, the crowds wouldn't go after her surely... right? The girl was cute, in fact very much so, but she was definitely the neurotic type, not some one she would have ever thought about talking to for that reason alone. She just seemed to be too much hassle. Megan wasn't a fan of handling the crazies. It tired her out. And she didn't like that. Maybe she would comfort her later, lord knows the girl needed someone to tell her that it would be okay. Megan wasn't a complete bitch, she would be kind enough to her if she needed it.
Megan would have sighed if she had the time to, it would blow her 'veil of eerie' if she did. What was it with people who were happy to protect themselves but then refused to fight? 'Transparent windy girl' was the biggest culprit here. Currently, instead of thanking the girl with the pink knives, she was shouting something along the lines of everyone needed to stop fighting. Megan would have chuckled. Yeah, like that was going to happen. These humans where far too blinded to just stop at the request of a mutant. In fact that was the last thing they were going to do, judging by trends. And if she didn't like the mutants inside the shop fighting then she was asking for them to lay down their 'weapons' and get hurt. This was self-defence. That held up in court now days right? Anyway, Megan could hide the evidence, pending the width of said objects, if she needed to. And no one would be any wiser. Perhaps. Ah well, she'd been running for so many decades now, it wasn't like it would be any different from usual.
“That was kind of the point sweety” She muttered in annoyance. She would thank the girl for blowing her plans out of the water later. Now it would be harder to get this idiots out of the store. Now they knew they would be adamant that they had to stay. Hopefully they hadn't noticed. Cue a wise crack from one of them, “But I just want to find a good book to read on holiday” It would have made sense.... If they weren't in the middle of frickin' riot and he wasn't carrying a frickin' crowbar! Megan was waiting for them to get out the torches and pitchforks. Seriously...
Oh and Benny just had to go and call the cops didn't he. Brilliant. How were they suggesting that pink knife girl get out of this one then huh? She'd already cut someone up pretty badly, whether in self-defence or not none of them were in a good position to argue with a system that seemed to hate their type.
“You have that handled back there?”
In any case, the people entering the shop near her seemed to be to afraid of the 'creepy Asian freak' to attack. Megan was thankful it was a stalemate. She could hold her own in a fight with no problem but then again she wasn't the strongest for people in this body, and the humans had the advantage of numbers. If they didn't do anything stupid then she would be able to hold them off until the police arrived. But then again she was the one holding the blade and the one whose finger prints were all over the weapon. It didn't matter. She could charm her way out of the situation surely. She'd just cry and act terrified, they wouldn't know what to do with themselves. That was certainly a down fall of the male of the species. Put them in a room with a hysterically crying cute young woman and they'd be stumbling all over the place.
In her sweet tones she spoke to the thugs once more, “Don't pull any funny business and I won't be forced to use my little friend here” She giggled adding to the effect and smiled, adding “Sound like a deal?” Many of the men seemed to agree, and thanks to the wind girls barrier no one else could get close. Not even one lightning user battling outside. The last one was quite amusing actually. It was the expression on his face that made her laugh perhaps a bit to sadisticly as he was thrown back into the mob. He could handle himself surely.
People stormed in the store to see if they could vandilized or to look for other mutants. It didn't matter seeing as Cailyn was in the store and they where going to find her one way or the other. She was still snivling in the corner worried about the people. One of the people that stormed into the shop found her and took hold of her by the shoulders. He shook her and shouted: "Are you one of !." Cailyn was still scared and cried and she said: "leave me alone, please don't hurt me." The person who shook her took that as a yes and stood up and shouted: "Got another one right here." Other people quickly followed him and now 5 of them stood infront of cailyn. She was amazed and scared and they looked at them with big eyes.
The people started to ponder what to do and Cailyn picked up some of their thoughts. They weren't any good to begin with. One of them spoke up: "Look at her we have done enough i'm getting out of here." And he ran away. Cailyn looked at the remaining 4 and hoped they followed her example. They didn't and one of them pulled out a knife. "let's do this for the cause." He said and he wanted to stab Cailyn. She shouted at the top of her lungs as a soft tune doomed through the shop and the surrounding area. It was a soft hymn and the person who wanted to stab her stopped out of curiousity what was going on. Suddenly the man dropped his knife and started screaming. "It burns , HELP!." And he ran out the store through the mobs of people. The other 3 soon followed his example as they saw the same as their friend. Cailyn stood up and rubbed the tears out of her eyes. She slowly levitated as her Hymn grew stronger and deeper. She moved to the front door where seemingly other people where located keeping the mobs out of the store,
It didn't make her happy to see that the humans outside were testing her barrier. Some threw bigger and bigger things that only made her cringe when they were flung back into the crowd. How many injuries would come of this stupidity today? Ghost looked at the two very still bodies at her feet as the pink girl was thanking her for keeping the animals at bay. Ghost swallowed and pushed harder at the crowd. For their own good they had to stay away.
"...I fear the Human's hounds are already on the way."
"They won't listen to us." Ghost's voice sounded sad though she hadn't thought to specify that she was thinking of the crowd of people rather than the fact that the police might not believe that they were the victims. "Perhaps the humans can tame their own." It was hard to look like the victim when they were the only ones who had killed. Something warm was trickling down onto her face and she wasn't even sure the blood was hers. Of all things, Ghost never would have imagined a situation like this. What a great way to start a new year of human-mutant relations.
She also wasn't suspecting someone to try and actually push their way through her barrier. Ghost turned away from the pink girl as she was wiping blood off of her weapon to see... the Oak Street Book Store employee. What was his name? And why was he... zapping people? Oh. He probably wanted inside the safety of the store. The crowd didn't seem all that pleased to have him flung back into their midst.
Ghost didn't drop her barrier, rather she changed it. She changed the rotation so that there were two sections of air and at the point of their convergence... was suction. "Incoming." Ghost warned her pink companion just as the suction grabbed hold of something.
Soft and firm air whipped at Alex and one of the people next to him. They were both caught and flung backwards suddenly through the barrier, dumped at Ghost's feet. It was too hard to control the specifics and keep the strength of wind necessary to keep the "animals," as the pink one had called them, at bay. She quickly changed the barrier again to get rid of the point of suction though not before someone had tried to rush after Alex and his ... uh... friend.
Ghost cringed again when that someone was hefted upward and backwards into the crowd. He was heavy. and if they kept testing her... she just wasn't feeling so confident anymore. "H-hey, Oak Street." If he wanted more of a greeting than that he would need to wait until after the world had finished erupting all around them. She couldn't even spare a glance to see if the pink hair-ed one had finished slicing and dicing yet.
