The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The blind fold was really just a visual aid, pun intended. Had she wanted to, that bit of cloth wouldn't have hindered her sight any more than a sheet of paper could stop a bullet. Although Streak wouldn't have known one way or the other, Neena did indeed enter the maze totally blind; eyes closed and no enhanced sights used.
She followed his directions exactly, setting off with an purposeful, but not hurried, stride. Her heritage showed itself a bit in the way she held her staff; upright and used like a walking stick, griped at shoulder height, to swing the tip quickly forward like a spear into her other hand at the first sign of a threat.
Interestingly enough, though she was very agile anyway, her balance improved a bit more with the lack on one sense.
"Whoa!"
Neena halted immediately and took up a defensive stance, not realizing Streak had simply lost his balance atop the maze wall. She waited for him to resume directions before moving. She thought she heard a whoosh of air overhead, and tilted her head slightly toward the sound. But she remained sightless, and thus unseeing of Streak's flighted presence.

(ooc: I'm not so sure how complicated this maze is supposed to be. so I figured that it would just be long but not confusing.)
Streak continued to fly above Neena, the Minotaur, and the rest of the maze. "Keep going straight." He waited until she was at the next turn that she needed to take. "Now, go right." There was a slight pause. "Ok. umm, lets see, umm... go right, now left." He watched as Neena did exactly what Streak said without hesitation.
She seemed to have no issues with balance. He noticed that she held her staff a little differently than him and other people did. It looked like she knew what she was doing with that staff. "Turn left again... straight." As he said these last instructions Streak noticed that the Minotaur had turned around and was heading straight at Neena. There was no way she could get around him and still make it to the finish. "Pick up the pace a bit. The Minotaur's heading your way. You'll meet him about twenty paces after you make the next turn." Once Neena reached the turn he said, "Turn right and get your staff ready. I don't know what this things going to do. Just be ready to jump."
(ooc:go ahead and mess with the Minotaur if you want.)
(OOC: Consider the maze fairly simply. Not overly so, but not one of those really complicated ones, where its hard to tell the dead end until you reach it, lol)
"Pick up the pace a bit. The Minotaur's heading your way. You'll meet him about twenty paces after you make the next turn."
Neena nodded and began counting mentally, and picked up her speed a bit.
"Turn right and get your staff ready. I don't know what this things going to do. Just be ready to jump."
Nodding, she swung the staff forward. Holding it straight in front of her, she pushed it to one side, until it impacted with the wall. Then she pushed the other way, again until impact. Having gauged her space, she shifted her grip yet again, settling into holding it defensively like a spear.
Several corridors away, the Minotaur heard the taps on the wall, and turned toward them. As Neena exited from one corridor into the next, the monster lumbered in from another corridor exit a ways down. Neena turned right, away from the Minotaur. Seeing its prey, it began lumbering down the hall toward her. She heard it coming, but waited for instructions first.

Streak watched, feeling helpless, from above everything. He watched Neena as she got a sense of how much space she had between the walls. He also watched the Minotaur react to Neena's taps on the wall and start heading towards her. "Here he comes. He's coming up behind you. You could try to out run him but I don't think that will work for very long. Keep walking forward." Streak said to her. He noticed that she had stopped moving. As he circled above both Neena and the Minotaur his mind raced with the possibilities that he was faced with on how to get Neena out of this particular situation. After a little bit
"Ok, listen up. Here's what were going to do. When I tell you to. Jump up high, and backwards." She continued walking away from the Minotaur and closer towards the next turn that she needed to take. The Minotaur was coming up on her fast, having its prey in its sights, it decided to move in for the attack. The thumping of the Minotaur was getting louder behind Neena and only feet before the Minotaur would have collided with her Streak said, "JUMP!" She did. Neena jumped high, just as the Minotaur ran below her. "Now, swing your staff down. Hard." She followed his instructions without hesitation. She swung the staff down and hit the Minotaur in the head.
She landed behind the Minotaur, which was now frozen from the hit on the head. "It's now or never. Step to your left and start walking." Again there was no hesitation from Neena with Streaks commands. After a little bit he told her, "Turn right and keep going straight."
"Ok, listen up. Here's what were going to do. When I tell you to. Jump up high, and backwards."
Neena paused and bent her legs. As she resumed walking, she began to bob from one foot to the other. In her mind's eye she gauged the Minotaur's general height, from what she remembered. She wouldn't be able to jump straight up and back, so she tried for another maneuver.
When the order came, she jumped, first sideways, to push off of the side wall, which propelled her backwards and diagonal. A smile tugged at her lips when she felt a satisfying THWACK!! buzz through her arms as her staff connected.
The instant she got new directions she started moving, faster this time. After the first hit, and each successive one, the Minotaur would become more aggressive, so she needed to pick up the speed.
She was only two corridors further on when the bullheaded monster again came to life. It roared in anger, and once more began pursuit.

Streak couldn't help but smile as Neena successfully pulled off the maneuver, if not a bit differently than Streak had said. He wasn't upset with her at all by that fact, because she knows her powers and abilities better than he ever could. After she began taking his directions again she started walking faster.
Neena had only traveled a little ways from where the Minotaur had been stunned. The thirty seconds seemed to go by very fast because Neena hadn't traveled to far. "It seemed like at the beginning it took longer for it to start moving." Streak said into the ear piece. "Ok, in all seriousness. Your gonna take a left...right...about...Now." She continued taking left after left and right after rights flawlessly. If Neena's staff made any noise Streak couldn't hear it from the height he was coasting at.
The Minotaur continued looking for Neena. Fortunately, the Minotaur didn't have anyone giving him directions on where Neena was. It started taking a few of the same turns that Neena was. For a while Streak though it knew where she was, but then it took a turn and started going the opposite way Neena was. "Go right." There was a slight pause then Streak continued, "turn left. and go straight." He was so busy giving directions he almost missed the Minotaur. Somehow it had doubled back and gotten around much closer to Neena. It was going to barrel into her. "STOP!" Streak yelled. Neena was just about to pass threw an intersection. The Minotaur barreled through the intersection, coming inches from Neena. "Go Now. Hurry before it turns around." Streak said with a little urgency in his voice.
Neena hit the brakes as fast as possible. She felt the wind trail as the giant bull-man barely missed her. In her mind, she thought it would be a perfect time to strike, but since she hadn't received that order, she didn't.
"Go Now. Hurry before it turns around." She hit the gas again, speeding up to a brisk jog.
Meanwhile, the Minotaur realized it had just passed its prey. Rather than backtrack, however, it began looking for the nearest opening. It began moving parallel to Neena, several corridors over, and a bit faster. Finally it turned toward her. Neena could hear the monster on the other side of the wall, looking for the next opening to cut her off.

(ooc: if it's ok with you, I thought we'd have one more go with the minotaur then reach the finish at the next post or so.)
Streak watched her as she took off. He spotted the Minotaur moving along from corridor to corridor, looking for the best place to cut Neena off. He kept giving her directions of ways to go. She listened and reacted perfectly to what the silver man was saying. Streak directed with ease, all the while keeping his eyes split between Neena and the Minotaur.
The Minotaur still hadn't figured out a place to cut Neena off, but it was getting close. "The bull-man's moved ahead of you. It looks like he'll get to the turn and the corridor before you do...Turn right." Streak told her. "And here comes the Minotaur. He's making the turn into your corridor. He's right in front of you and coming fast." The silver man warned her. The minotaur continued to attack Neena by getting charging her like a bull, horns lowered and arms out to the side.
"He's lowered his head for you; unfortunately he's trying to skewer you. It should be an easy hit. 'Cause your staff gives you father reach than his horns give him. Get your staff ready." The Minotaur closed in as well as Neena. "Get ready...Wait for it...aaannnd Now." Neena swung her staff at the Minotaur and hit him squarely between the horns. The Minotaur froze in mid-charge. "Keep going. Turn right. Go straight down the corridor. It looks like a few more turns and you should reach the finish." Streak told her.
”Get your staff ready. Get ready...Wait for it...aaannnd Now."
Again Neena’s arms tingled from the hard blow. This time, she couldn’t help but peek out from being the blindfold, to see how close the monster had gotten. Idly she guessed that, if she could feel fear, her adrenaline level would be skyrocketing at the moment.
"Keep going.”
That was the second hit. Once it unfroze, the Minotaur would be on a rampage. She realized she hadn’t told Streak one tiny, little detail. After it came to life this time, the Minotaur would start barreling straight through walls, and making its own doors. It couldn’t see her through the walls, but that wouldn’t stop it from trying.
She picked up her speed once more, this time to a full run. While that kept her ahead of the bull-man, it also cut down on the time Streak had to give her directions before she ran into walls.
”It looks like a few more turns and you should reach the finish."
Just as he finished speaking, Mr. Minotaur came back to life, and bellowed his full fury across the course. A second later a crash shook the maze, then another.
A small smile played on Neena’s lips. ”Glad this isn’t a china shop.”

(ooc: Not sure if Streak can hear you through your earpiece or if it's a one way thing. If I get this wrong let me know and I'll fix it.)
Streak smiled as Neena started taking off at a full out run. He was staying directly over her, maybe ten to fifteen feet above the maze. Streak heard the Minotaur give a loud and angry bellow. "Oh by I think its safe to say we have officially pissed it off." He smiled at his comment but stayed focused on Neena so that she didn't hit any walls. He heard Neena's voice through the ear piece. ”Glad this isn’t a china shop.”
"You forgot to mention it'll start barreling through walls...Turn right. Now left." He wasn't sure that he could keep his eyes on both of them now so he gained a few more feet in the air to get a bigger picture and have a better peripheral view of anything coming after Neena through the walls. "I'm sure glad I'm not standing on top of the maze anymore." The silver man said.
After giving more directions to Neena, Streak once again saw the Minotaur in his peripherals crashing through walls at Neena. It was getting closer with each wall that it crashed through and it seemed like Neena couldn't make the turns to the finish fast enough to get away. He was giving directions as fast as he could to her. "Go left. Now straight on and through the finish." He said smiling once more that this part was almost over. "Here come the Minotaur." It crashed through the wall just behind where Neena had been only seconds before. "It's going to be a photo finish." He said feeling like a commentator at a race. "And it Neena up in front. Neena with the lead by just a few feet. But the Minotaur's coming up behind her. He's really putting on the heat this time. He definitely does not want her to get away. The Minotaur's closing the gap between them. He's feet from Neena. But Neena's not giving up very easily. No. She's giving it her all. There in a all out race. One want to hurt the other while one just wants to finish." Streak was commentating the entire straightaway while Neena was running towards the finish, getting closer and closer with each step she took.
Ignoring all the humor and irony in watching the little race that was going on Streak started commenting more naturally. If not sounding a bit hurried and nervous. "Safe!" Streak yelled. Neena had crossed the finish. Just as she did, the Minotaur froze, dead in it's tracks, with the ending of the simulation. Streak circled around the maze and looked at all the destruction that the Minotaur had caused trying to get to Neena before she reached the end of the maze. "You can take your blind fold off now, Neena. Look how close that was." Streak said. He landed beside her, but left the wings where they were so she could see how he was flying at the moment.
If she didn't need her full breath to run, Neena would be cracking up right then. 'Camptown Races' popped into her brain; that was going to be stuck for the rest of the day....
When Streak declared her 'Safe', she put on the brakes, shifting her weight backwards and skidding to a halt. Once most of the momentum faded, she let herself plop onto the ground and lean back, arms behind her to support her upper body.
"You can take your blind fold off now, Neena. Look how close that was."
She reached up to lift one side of the blindfold, revealing a single, squinting, near-white orb. The frozen Minotaur had both hands in front of him, as if to grab something, less than six inches from the finish. A look of frenzied wrath adorned his face, no doubt from his prey being so close.
"Nice." She gave Streak a thumb's up.
Her breath quickly slowed, and she hopped back to her feet with a soft grunt. She stretched, and yawned hugely. A happy grin lit her face as she extended one hand.
"Nice job Streak. That was some good running. Not bad at all. End scenario."
Machinery whirred softly as the Minotaur and his Maze disappeared into the floors and walls. Neena motioned for Streak to follow her up to the Observation Room.
"You did excellent, m'friend. There are a few things that need work, but they're mainly going to be fine tuning. Everything we did today has been recorded, here." She pointed to appropriate panel. "You can go over it anytime, and also record any future sessions. You already know, but the Danger Room is open anytime you want to practice. There will be a meeting later, so you'll get a chance to meet the rest of your teammates."
She sat down on one of the chairs. "I'm hoping we won't have need of your more combative skills, but not totally expecting to be right. So-" she shrugged. "Keep up the practice. 'kay?"
Her smile returned, and she stretched again. "Well, I think we can call it a day, and a successful one at that. Any questions you have about anything? Any of this, or the other Xmen? Why the sky isn't pink?" Naturally that last one was a tease.

"Nice job Streak. That was some good running. Not bad at all. End scenario." Neena said to him. He smiled let the wings retract back into his arms and followed her up towards the Observation Room.
"Thanks. That was a lot of fun." Streak told her.

Streak listened to Neena explain the way things worked around here in the Danger Room. He'd only been here once before and it didn't end very well. "Cool. I can't wait to see who else is in the Xmen. Ya, something tells me if the Xmen go anywhere it wont be very peaceful, especially since the camps. Ok, I'll come in here and practice some more. "
Her smile returned, and she stretched again. "Well, I think we can call it a day, and a successful one at that. Any questions you have about anything? Any of this, or the other Xmen? Why the sky isn't pink?"
The silver man could do nothing but agree with Neena. It had been a very successful and eventful day. "Just a couple questions. How many Xmen are there? And are y'all planning anything some time soon or waiting for things to settle? I don't think anyone can answer the question about 'why the sky isn't pink?'." He smiled at Neena about the same pink sky.
"Just a couple questions. How many Xmen are there? And are y'all planning anything some time soon or waiting for things to settle? I don't think anyone can answer the question about 'why the sky isn't pink?'."
Neena chuckled. "In order asked, there are about eleven of us currently, including you. I think...." She added that because, no matter how many times she went over it in her mind, she missed someone. One of these days she needed to make a solid list, so she could remember. "And right now, we're just concentrating on getting things settled again. I hoping, stress on 'hoping', that nothing major will happen that we have to get directly involved in."

"We'll see though."
"As for the sky.... Hmmm....."
Streak smiled at Neena's humor. "I'd say you should make a list but then ya always run the risk of losing it. Or worse case scenario, someone breaks in and steals it." He said he was just being practical and like always was thinking of all the possibilities.
"Alright. Well. If that's it. It was fun." Streak was about to excuse himself, turn around and walk out when he remembered something important. "How do y'all communticate and call meeting? Is there like a flier that someone puts up? word of mouth? Or what? I mean I know that the rumors fly around about the X-Men being here, but somehow it doesn't seem like y'all'd go around advertising it." Streak was really curious on how it all worked. He didn't want to leave anything unasked and miss an important meeting.

Neena laughed. "No worries, I'll get a communicator to ya before our next meeting. Or if anything untoward happens, I'll send up a flare or something to get your attention." Anyone else saying that might have been joking, but with Neena, you never knew.
She smiled and waved at him. "No worries, kiddo. Take a break and get some grub. Gotta keep up your energy, ya know. If you need t'know anything else, you know where to find me."
