The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

(ooc: the thermal imaging sounds good. but unless you're talking about the orbs heat the knives don't carry a heat signature)
Streak noticed more orbs coming at him after he took out the first one. He moved around the corner and was surprised to find more tentacles there waiting for him. He looked back to see where he was and how far away the other tentacles were. They were quickly gaining ground on him. If he didn't do something he was going to bogged down. No. This is to soon. I can't get stopped now. He thought for a second. Mainly because that was about as much time as he had. He put his hands together and created a sword that looked more like a machete than a fighting sword.
He started going at the tentacles. Hacking them out of his way. Just then the tentacles behind him caught up with him, wrapped around his ankles and dragged him down. He lost his focus on his shield. It disappeared. He brought both hands to the sword and created an exact copy of the first sword. The tentacles were surrounding him. The first and second set of tentacles merged together and began covering his entire body. He started swinging the swords wildly, at first, then he started swinging with a purpose. The tentacles started backing away and let him up.
Streak jumped up with both swords in his hands. He looked like a ninja, jumping up with both swords. Streak turned around and saw that there were three more orbs on a direct flight path for him. He spun the swords in his hands once and went after them. He took one of them out with a quick slice that went clean through it. The other two orbs were faster and moved out of the way and Streak missed them completely. They circled around and ended up flanking him. He threw one sword. Missed. The orbs had learned from his last trick.
The silver man recreated the shield he had before and tried to use it in some way against them. The orb closest to the shield came at full speed, hitting his shield and knocking him back a little. With that hit the orb backed off and prepared for another. The timing was perfect Streak brought the shield close to his chest and waved the sword over it so that no one or nothing could see what he was doing. Spikes appeared on the shield. He swung the shield around so that just as the orb was about to hit his shield again it ran into the spikes. The other orb was moving in at the same time. It hit him hard. With no shield to protect his other side the orb slammed directly into his ribs. "Ahhh!" Streak cried. As the orb was backing up to get another shot at his ribs Streak brought the sword down and sliced it in just like he did the other one.
He clutched his side and retracted the spikes on his shield. The orb that had embedded itself on the spikes fell to the floor with a clang. The tentacles were coming back. He rounded the corner of the next part of the course. Streak felt his ribs as he walked around the corner. They felt broken but that wouldn't stop him from finishing the course. He held his shield around in front of him feeling his ribs. As Streak walked around the corner a holographic laser shot at him and hit the shield. All he saw was a flash of light then the shield was hit. He held the shield where it was, thinking that there was would only be one of those lasers, he was wrong. Once again he was fighting the tentacles. Man these things don't give up. Streak thought as he hacked the tentacles into smaller pieces. The tentacles backed off again, probably to reground.
Streak stopped swing the sword at the tentacles and continued walking down the course. He began to favor his right side from the pain. The silver man looked around and didn't see any more orbs heading his way. All of the sudden he began getting bombarded with holographic laser fire. He started to run, keeping his right arm over his ribs. He couldn't duck or dodge them all. He used his shield to block many of the ones that were comming from in front and to his left. About every four shots or so he would get hit. He didn't stop moving, keeping his right arm at his side most of the time. Then, there it was the end of the course. He made a break for it. There was nothing he could do to stop the lasers from shooting at him. Streak was getting better at dodging the lasers, especially the ones on his right side.
Streak was only feet from the finish. He saw the laser powering up. He dove towards the finish. It fired and Streak spun to block it with his shield. He blocked it, barely. He got up and hit the ground with his wounded side first. His face contorted in pain as he hit the ground. Streak slide the rest of the way to the finish. He slowly stood up and clutched his side. "Man that hurt." He said more to himself, though he knew Neena would have heard it.
(OOC: Yeah, it's residual heat, from being held in Streak's head. Faint and fades fast, but still there. )
Once Streak turned a corner, Neena decided to change positions. She put on a cloaking cuff, designed to bend light around her body, effectively hiding her from normal sight. The obstacle course was focused on Streak, and she didn't want to give it another target to attack.
She watched from a much closer vantage point, side-stepping tentacles and dodging orbs, as they intensified their attack on the silver-clad youth.
The versatility of Streak's silver impressed her, as did his ingenuity. He had great control of his mutation, and used it to his advantage quite well. She did see and hear him take a physical hit from the orbs. She frowned slightly, wondering if she had set the difficulty of the eye-balls harder than intended; they weren't supposed to ram like that.
Once the lasers kicked in, he went on the defensive, heading for the end of the course as fast as possible, and taking multiple hits along the way. Neena attributed that to pain, since he seemed to be favoring the spot where he'd been hit. Finally he slid to the end like a baseball player sliding into Home.
"Man that hurt."
"I can imagine," she remarked aloud, deactivating the cloaking band and appearing in front of him. "I think I may have set the difficulty on those things a tad too high. Let' me see." She motioned for him to lift his arm, so she could check for any serious injury. "Do you need to see the Doc? Or will you heal on your own?"
She held out her hand, so she could one of the cuffs for it's damage report. The bar was a little over three-fourths red; cutting it a bit close, but not bad with him having sustained actual damage.

Once the simulation had ended Neena suddenly appeared in front of him. He was pretty surprised and it showed on his face before the pain took over his surprise.
"I can imagine, I think I may have set the difficulty on those things a tad too high. Let' me see."
"Oh, don't worry about the difficulty They just got the jump on me once. And as you saw that was the only chance they got." He lifted his arm above his head so that she could look at his ribs.
"Do you need to see the Doc? Or will you heal on your own?"
"I'll be fine." He put his hand back over his ribs and without anything visible he bandaged up his ribs with silver. "I just need a little time to heal. Then I'll be as good as new." Streak said slowly moving his hand back so that it hung naturally at his side. He still kept that side of his body as still as possible, but every once in a while he would move it a little. "So, how'd I do?" Streak asked curious on how he did against the lasers and trying to be careful with the injury.
"Oh, don't worry about the difficulty They just got the jump on me once. And as you saw that was the only chance they got." Neena nodded slightly, acknowledging that fact. "I'll be fine. I just need a little time to heal. Then I'll be as good as new."
She stared at him for a moment, searching his eyes for any sign he might not be telling the truth. All she could really see was desire to continue.
”All right then.”
"So, how'd I do?"
”Well, you cut it a little close with the laser-fire,” she replied, and straightened up. ”But from the looks of it, the majority hit your shield, so it comes down to how strong your shield is against lasers. Any ideas if it is?”
She held out her hand while he answered, for him to give her the cuffs. She checked them quickly to confirm what she’d seen a moment ago, then deactivated them.
”Alright, let’s move on to a bit of old-fashioned sparring.”
She moved back to the mini-display on the side of the room, and called up a basic sparring program. A door slid open in the wall, revealing a robot with a holoprojector. As it walked to the center of the room, its appearance changed to a man clothed in sweats and holding a bo staff.
”I’d test you out myself,” she told him with a grin, ”but my sparring skills are..... well, let’s say ‘less than spectacular’. Instead, Robbie here will take my place.”
She waved Streak over to stand beside her, in front of the bot. ”Again, Robbie is an AI program, so he’ll learn from your moves like the eye-balls did. Rules are similar to a martial arts competition. No hits below the belt, and all that. But” and she held up on finger to emphasize her point, ”just because the hits don’t count, don’t assume Robbie here won’t fight dirty.”
“Now, you can use your mutation in moderate amounts, but the focus here is on weapons and tactics. Any questions?”

"I don't know how strong it is against lasers 'cause frankly I've never been shot at by lasers. Ya know, aside from the danger room." Streak said "However, I do know that they're strong enough to stop bullets and an attacking human or werewolf." He took off the cuffs and handed them to her. Truth be told Streak was a little glad to be rid of them. Not because they recorded his progress but because they felt like jewelry and Streak was not a fan of jewelry.
”Alright, let’s move on to a bit of old-fashioned sparring.”
Streak moved to her side as she stood in front of "Robbie" who was holding a bow staff. He looked over the robot with hologram covering him. He doesn't look that tough. But then again he is a robot. Streak though to himself.
”Again, Robbie is an AI program, so he’ll learn from your moves like the eye-balls did. Rules are similar to a martial arts competition. No hits below the belt, and all that. But” and she held up on finger to emphasize her point, ”just because the hits don’t count, don’t assume Robbie here won’t fight dirty. Now, you can use your mutation in moderate amounts, but the focus here is on weapons and tactics. Any questions?”
Again Streak put his hands together and slowly moved them apart. In between there formed a long staff about Streak's height. Despite the injury, which was healing quite nicely but not fully healed yet, Streak was ready to rock. Streak looked at her a little comedically disappointed when she said 'no hits below the belt". The silver man wasn't planning on it, but he couldn't rule it out as an accident.
"No, it seems pretty cut and dry. Is there a time limit to this or how do I know when it's done?" Everything else was pretty self explanatory and he was ready to go. Streak held his staff to his side and waited for it to start.

Streak looked at Neena as she explained how to win. He prepared himself for what was going to come. "First one to ten points wins." Neena nodded. "Ready then? Fight!" He looked at her as she said this and as she disappeared from sight.
He braced himself for an attack. Robbie came to life and held his bow staff in both hands. Streak did the same. Let's dance. Streak thought. He took a step to his right and both started to walk around in a circle. Suddenly, they both charged each other. The movement was so fast it was hard to see, until they were already fighting. Both their staffs were moving pretty fast. It looked almost choreographed, blocking move for move and matching each other step for step. After a while Robbie started to give some ground, then he got it back. Then Streak gave some ground, then got it back. It was like they were dancing with each other and weren't sure who was leading.
After a while they locked bow staffs together, pushing back and forth. Then Streak tricked the robot. He faked high and when Robbie moved to block it Streak went back and struck him in the side. He broke away from Robbie and held his staff behind him and over his shoulder. He then brought his staff around to his front and as Robbie charged him moving in to get Streak back for the hit. The silver man threw his staff like a javelin. Robbie blocked it and Streaks was left without a weapon. Robbie brought his stick down towards Streak's head. He grabbed Robbie's staff and threw Robbie over his body.
Robbie's stick flew away out of his hands. Now they were both weaponless, and it was a fight now. Despite how well Streak performed using the bow staff he was much better at hand to hand combat than weaponry. Streak attacked Robbie, after the robot got up, and they started really sparring. Streak blocked and countered most of what the robot was doing. There was one kick-fake, however, that Streak fell for. The kick hit him directly in the chest, and he flew back a few feet. "Ooff." Streak said involuntarily. It definitely wasn't a pleasant feeling. Streak wasn't about to let that happen again, if he could help it. It's definitely time to step it up a notch. Streak thought to himself as he moved back in closer to the robot. He thought back to his sparring straining with the different styles that he had studied before he arrived at the mansion. He also thought back to a more recent event before the break out when he was teaching the inmates how to defend themselves.
When Robbie threw a punch at Streak he did what he'd told the other campers. He quickly grabbed the arm and turned it into a throw. Instead of throwing the robot across the room the silver man held on to him and took him straight down to the ground, landing him directly on his back. Streak then brought down his elbow into the holograms stomach and gave a hard blow to his neck. He then backed off of Robbie and waited for it to get back up off the ground.
Neena noted that Streak did not retrieve his weapon when he had the chance, opting for hand-to-hand instead. As she watched, it became clear that he had been trained in such. Given his mutation, he could make a weapon whenever needed. So she made a mental note not that he would be in the 'lightly armed' category of missions, unless circumstances required something else.
On a purely personal level, she was not a fan of weaponry, except as an extreme last resort, and found herself liking this kid more and more for not resorting to them.
Standing very close to the fight, to observe closely, she had to sidestep several times as first Streak, then Robbie, were tossed around by their opponents. Finally Streak stepped back, waiting for Robbie to get to 'his' feet.
<"Three to zip. Not bad," Neena thought to herself. Even though Streak had the current lead, she wondered how long it would be for the AI to start hitting 'below the belt', as the expression went.

(ooc: I'm not sure how you're scoring it, if the weapon hits count or not, but I count 3 to 1)
Robbie got up after a just a little pause. It was just long enough for Streak to gain his composure and to contemplate what moves he could use against this robot before things started getting ugly. Robbie got up and they began circling each other again. After studying their opponents for a about a minute of circling they Robbie rushed Streak. Streak evaded the kicks that the robot was throwing without tire. All the while, Streak was studying the robot for any weaknesses or openings that the robot created whenever he was kicking. Eventually he found the pattern and exploited it.
Robbie was stuck on a linear path of fighting. He was moving straight ahead. Streak avoided the kicks, blocking some and evading others. He moved to the robot's right side, jumped, spun around, and kicked Robbie directly in the head. The robot stopped kicking and bent in half. The hit wasn't enough to knock him over, but it was enough for him to stop kicking and think twice. Unfortunately for Streak, that hard hit in the head only angered the robot. Immediately the robot moved back after the silver man. The robot decided that it was time to do what it had to to win.
It came after him and tackled him like a linebacker in a football game. While the hologram was on top of him the robot began beating Streak as much as he could. He couldn't stop many of the hits. Finally Streak managed to trap the robots arms and turned the tides on him. He positioned himself so that his feet had some traction on the floor. When he was ready and he had Robbie's arms pinned, Streak rolled them both over until Streak was on top of Robbie. Then the beatings continued, only this time Streak was the one delivering the hits. The man of silver had taken about four hits and managed to block the rest. The robot was doing about the same. Streak managed to land five well placed punches when the robot brought his legs up to Streak's chest and pushed him off. Streak was pushed up and away freeing the robot of him.
Streak nimbly rolled on to his feet and was standing only seconds after Robbie stood back up. This time Streak was the one who was giving off lots of kicks. He actually landed a couple of them before he stopped kicking. The AI returned the same kicks with just as much energy as when Streak was kicking at him. It was a very good fight and a well matched one also. The robot had definitely had enough of Streaks unending bag of tricks. The went after Streak again and once again faked the silver man so land a hit on the inside of Streak's leg. That hit brought Streak down to one knee. He clutched his leg and Robbie came back after him. Streak rolled but not soon enough to avoid another hit in the leg. Now both his legs hurt really bad.
Silver climbed back up onto both feet. and they began circling around Robbie again. With his legs weakened he waited for the opportunity that suddenly arose. Robbie charged again and Streak braced himself for the attack. He looked like a hockey player the way Silver bent himself in half and just as Robbie hit him Streak stood up sending the robot flying, or at least that's what he hoped would happen. However, the robot had learned. As Streak stood up the robot wrapped his arms around Streak as best he could. Since Robbie did that, they both went for a roll. Streaks legs were weak and he couldn't hold himself against the momentum that Robbie was carrying with him as he wet over Streak's back.
Robbie was carrying even too much momentum for him to hold onto Streak, the sweat from Streak didn't make holding onto him any easier. Streak rolled away from Robbie and as soon as he had a footing pushed off again, rolled, and as he rolled over Streak straightened out his leg and drove it into the robots sternum, if it was any normal person it would have knocked the wind out of him. Streak got up and backed off again waiting for the robot to get up. He stood there for a while catching his breath, and the robot laid there motionless. "Is that it? Did I win?" Streak asked Neena. He didn't see her but he knew she was there, somewhere.
(OOC: I think I missed the weapon hit somewhere. I'm getting a final of 10/6, minus below-the-belt hits. Let me know if that's right.)
Watching the fight reminded Neena of watching a pendulum. Advantage passed constantly between Streak and the robot, as did the scoring lead. She tried to get as close as possible to see and judge the hits for herself. However, once the rolling around and throwing began in earnest, being nearby became a dancing lesson, so she opted to retreat and resort to telescopic vision.
Her phone buzzed at her hip alerting her to a new arrival at the gates; she must have forgotten to turn it off when she entered. She twisted to turn it off. One of the other teachers would respond, she wasn't worried about that. As she turned back, a rush of wind ruffled her hair. A rolling tangle of human and robot bodies passed within inches of her face.
She blinked and tilted her head to follow where they landed. "Hm." She walked over to where Streak had pushed to one knee, then fully upright. Robbie lay nearby, motionless.
"Is that it? Did I win?"
"Yep!" Neena replied cheerfully, reappearing directly next to him. "Last count I had put you at eight to six. I didn't catch those last few hits, but you must have reached ten first, or he'd still be after ya. I see you prefer unarmed to armed combat. Interesting. Interesting. How much experience do you have in martial arts, kiddo?"
She returned yet again to the side display panel, and tapped a few keys. Robbie disappeared into the floor, while she began setting up the last exercise.

Streak was, once again surprised when Neena appeared out of thin air at his side. "Geez. You gotta stop doing that. You'll give me a heart attack." Streak smiled as he said this, let a small laugh escape his mouth and clutched his chest. All this happened at about the same time.
I see you prefer unarmed to armed combat. Interesting. Interesting. How much experience do you have in martial arts, kiddo?"
"Ya, it just comes easier to me. It turns into into a chess match of sorts with hand to hand combat than with armed combat." Streak said. After that he thought about her question as he watched her walk back over to the control panel. The robot disappeared and the floor was bare metal once again.
"I spent a few years studying taekwando, then I moved on to studying different styles of fighting. There was Jujitsu and some Judo. All in all I've had lots of training I just never reached black belt in any of them due to certain circumstances." He told her finally. He wondered if he was done with the training of if there was still some more excersies that he needed to do. The silver man breathed deep to relax himself and to get a some of his strength back from the fight.
"Geez. You gotta stop doing that. You'll give me a heart attack."
Neena grinned mischievously at him. "I've heard that before. Wonder if that's really possible.... Hmm."
"Ya, it just comes easier to me. It turns into into a chess match of sorts with hand to hand combat than with armed combat."
"Ah! A strategy enthusiast, are we? You know, not too many people care for chess anymore. It's a dying art. Sort of like Mancala, really...."
He seemed to give her other question a bit more thought before answering. "I spent a few years studying taekwando, then I moved on to studying different styles of fighting. There was Jujitsu and some Judo. All in all I've had lots of training I just never reached black belt in any of them due to certain circumstances."
She glanced back at him. Something in his tone indicated that those 'circumstances' were less than ideal. She'd have to see if he was up to sharing later.
For now though.....
"All right, last exercise," she announced, and shut down the display. The room begin to shift for a final time. She motioned for him to come to her side. Once he did, the area beneath their feet began to rise slowly, elevating them off of the ground. The rest of the area formed itself into a maze.
"This is a take off of the Minotaur's Maze," she explained. From her pocket she extracted two earbuds. She handed him one, and placed the other in her own ear. "Except in this case, you won't be running the maze. Not exactly. I will be. And you will be running me."
She smiled at him, and gauged his reaction. "This is both a logic and a kind of trust exercise. I'll be blindfolded, and your job is to guide me safely through the maze and past the obstacles. Whatever you tell me to do, I'll do. I have three 'lives', so you'll get three chances to get it right."
Below them, the maze completed its formation. At the center of the maze was a stone statue of the mythical half-bull, half-man beast.
"You'll get a ten second headstart before the Minotaur comes to life. The maze will keep track of time and lives lost, but there is no countdown. Just Mr. Bullhead to deal with."

Streak walked over towards where Neena had motioned for him to stand. He watched the ground rise up and start to take the shape of huge maze. He took the ear piece out of Neena's hand and put it securely in his ear. Streak was exhausted from the last fight and was glad that he wouldn't be fighting, in a manner of speaking. He listened to Neena explain the object of this task.
"This is a take off of the Minotaur's Maze,"
"Except in this case, you won't be running the maze. Not exactly. I will be. And you will be running me."
Streak looked very puzzled at that last comment. He wasn't sure how he was going to be 'running' her in the maze. Until she explained a little more.
"This is both a logic and a kind of trust exercise. I'll be blindfolded, and your job is to guide me safely through the maze and past the obstacles. Whatever you tell me to do, I'll do. I have three 'lives', so you'll get three chances to get it right."
"You'll get a ten second headstart before the Minotaur comes to life. The maze will keep track of time and lives lost, but there is no countdown. Just Mr. Bullhead to deal with."
"Questions?"
"So, what? I've got to keep you from getting skewered by the bull, and out of the maze or what? And the Minotaur is the only obstacle right?" Streak wanted to make extra sure that he had all the information he needed. He was perfectly fine risking his life and doing crazy stuff but when it came to other peoples lives, even in a simulation, he was always a little wary. "Can the Minotaur be fought or should you just keep away from him?" He was already thinking of ways to fight the Minotaur, no matter how unlikely it might be. His mind always seemed to be strategically thinking now a days, and how to beat people or what to expect from an enemy as far as surprise attacks and such.
"So, what? I've got to keep you from getting skewered by the bull, and out of the maze or what? And the Minotaur is the only obstacle right? Can the Minotaur be fought or should you just keep away from him?"
"The Minotaur can be fought and stunned if I can hit him in the back or head with my staff only. He'll stop moving for thirty seconds, then come back to life. No, he can't be destroyed, so the only way to win the maze is get out before he gets me. Since this is just a tester maze, he's the only obstacle."
She walked to the edge of the platform and looked down. "Like I said, I'll do whatever you tell me to do. Just keep in mind that my specialty is agility, not combat." She turned and smiled, then backflipped off of the platform. She landed in a crouch, then straightened up. A long staff appeared at the base of the platform, which she took in hand and twirled.
"Anything else?" she called up.

(ooc: ok I'll do that. Just jump in whenever)
Streak listened to Neena as she answered his questions. He kept the way to stun the Minotaur fresh in his mind so that he could use it later, if need be. He watched Neena do a back flip into the maze. Streak was impressed. She definitely was agile. Streak thought.
"Alright. Lets do this." Streak said into his ear piece. He waited until she put the blindfold on and then he began. "Go ahead and start walking straight." Streak began dictating to her how to maneuver through the maze. "Turn left. Now and continue walking straight." After a little pause of Streak watch Neena walk directly in the direction that he was saying without hesitation.
As she started to get farther and farther away from him, he began walking along the top of the maze so that he could keep her in sight. "Whoa!" Streak exclaimed. He almost fell into the maze himself. He stopped moving and decided to make some wings to stay above the maze and not worry about falling in. He formed the wings quickly so that he didn't lose track of Neena.
She was still walking straight, and almost into a wall. "Turn right. Now left." He said. He then saw the Minotaur start moving. She hadn't gone very far, but luckily the Minotaur wasn't moving fast, yet. The Minotaur was still far from Neena and actually moving in the opposite direction.
