The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

They were out dancing. Tarin was calling her cute. She was blushing. Alot.
And Lee wasn't telling Tarin to stop.
That wasn't it, though. Tarin kept going. And while the blush didn't get worse, it also didn't go away. Lee's eyes dropped, looking at the shoulder her hand wasn't resting on. If she just stared there, since she couldn't feel anyone else, maybe she could convince herself that she was alone. At least for long enough to get this blushing business taken care of.
The first three things that Tarin said after 'cute' were fine. Lee knew she was those. Though she wouldn't call herself smart, she also wouldn't normally deny it or be embarrassed by it.
Lee was still looking at Tarin's shoulder when he said those last two words, and without her consent, her eyes moved back up to Tarin's face. To see him looking straight down into her eyes. "Painfully gorgeous?" she asked.

The idea had been to not take things too far, but it appeared that Lee couldn’t even look at him now. Tarin kept right on smiling.
Lee had to have known when she’d put on that dress, when she’d spent all of that time on her hair and makeup, when she had looked at him that way when she’d come out of her room, exactly what she was doing. He’d even said it earlier, before they’d even left the apartment.
It didn’t take too terribly long for Lee to bring her eyes back to his though and Tarin looked back at her, much more serious than he had been a few moments before, ”Yep.” he said.
The song was winding down again and Tarin kept looking steadily down, ”One more?” he said.

At least the blush had been mostly gone by the time Lee had looked back up at Tarin. Though with the way he was looking at her, even if it was a more serious look, it was hard to keep from blushing again.
He also didn't share any insight or explanation about how he thought that she was painfully gorgeous. Just a simple ‘yep’.
As Tarin said that one word, the song was starting to trail off. And Tarin was asking about another dance.
If someone had asked Lee four hours earlier that she would have been happily dancing, she would have been surprised. Even more so as she considered Tarin's request for another.
Lee knew that she could easily say no, that she was good, didn't want to dance any more and that Tarin would easily and without situation accept that.
But being here, in Tarin's arms like this, even though it was dancing, was actual nice.
”Alright,” Lee said as she moved her hand up from Tarin's shoulder to his cheek and stretched up to give him a quick kiss. ” One more.”

Lee stretched up that little bit to kiss him and Tarin smiled, leaning slightly into her hand before the next song started to play. Lee had been so apprehensive about the dancing at first, but everything had worked out better than anticipated.
Working out better than anticipated had been a bit of a thing lately. First, making dinner the other night, talking to Kevin, and now this. Maybe they really did have a chance at this whole normal thing.
And so they danced. They didn’t really talk this time, but that was okay because the silence was comfortable and the music was enough.
They’d apparently been early dancers though, because there really were a lot more people out there than there had been for the first song. It wasn’t necessarily getting harder to avoid other people, but as the song started to wind down, Tarin realized that it probably was time to be done with the dancing if he wanted to be able to pay more attention to his date than the people around them.
So Tarin kept Lee’s hand and started to make their way back to the table.
”So. I have to be honest, this is about where all my plans for the night run out. Anything else you want to do?”

As the next song started, Lee moved her hand back down onto Tarin's shoulder as they started to dance again. And this time they were pretty quiet, but it was still nice. Which would have been surprising to Lee if the last two songs hadn't actually been nice too.
But as the song ended, and with the hand that he was still holding, Tarin led her back to the table. And she smiled up at Tarin as she heard his admission. "Well, it has been a pretty good plan," Lee told him with a smile. "Even the dancing was not all that bad.
"Maybe," Lee continued, her voice a little more playful. "You might be able to convince me to dance again next time we're here." Not that the chances of that were actually as long as Lee was making it sound. All Tarin would have to do the next time they were here would be to ask her to dance. And hopefully there wouldn't be an adapted around, so Lee would be able to siphon and feel that much more comfortable.
Was there anything else that she wanted to do that night. Lee shrugged slightly as she sat down once more. "Some dessert might be nice," Lee mused as she looked across the table at Tarin. "Can't really think of anything else, though at the same time, I'm not eager to rush home."

It had been a pretty good plan, Tarin thought. Planning something like this had been well outside his realm of experience and comfort and he’d been so nervous to start everything off. The more that things had gone right though, the more confident he had felt.
It had been a tiny misstep to not even consider that Lee might not like to dance, but that had ended up being okay, even to the point that she was saying that next time he’d probably be able to convince her to dance again.
Lee also didn’t seem to mind too terribly that at this point all of his planning was done. Dessert did sound good, and if it was anywhere near as good as the rest of the food had been they’d really be in for a treat.
”I’m in no hurry to get back either.” he said, smiling at how this was a far cry from the first time they’d gone out to the bar when Lee had insisted they wouldn’t be out late.
The dessert menus just so happened to be on the table when they returned, and Tarin picked it up to look, eyes scanning the list before he looked up at Lee. ”How does this place keep getting better?” he asked, because there were not one, but two different kinds of pie on the menu. Interesting fare for a fine dining establishment, but totally okay in Tarin’s book.

Lee smiled as Tarin said he wasn't in a rush to get home that night either. That meant that they just needed to figure out what they were going to do with the time before they finally went back.
Picking up the dessert menu that was sitting in front of her, Lee looked it over. Though Lee wasn't entirely sure what specifically about the dessert menu had Tarin thinking that this restaurant had gotten even better, Lee had to agree. They had cheesecake as well as a couple other things that looked rather tempting.
"I'm not sure how, but it does," Lee said as she set her menu down. She already knew what she was going to order. This was definitely a very good decision for Tarin to choose this restaurant for their date. "What are you thinking?" Lee asked, glancing at the menu Tarin was still holding.

Okay, so maybe sheer dumb luck had played a part in the night going well, but Tarin had had his share of bad luck in his life, so he was willing to take what he could get when he could get it.
Tarin had thought the restaurant looked cool and the reviews on the food had been good, but things had ended up better than he could have possibly hoped.
Lee asked what he was thinking, and Tarin grinned.
”Pie.” he said, ”They’ve got two kinds. They do have blueberry, but I can have that any time, right?” he said, ”So, I guess I’m gonna have to get peach.” Sure there were other, fancier things on the dessert menu, but Tarin was not going to turn down pie.

Lee smiled when Tarin answered her. It was so cute that he got so excited for pie. "I'm not sure about anytime," Lee told him. "But I can try making it for you again soon. So the peach is probably the better idea because then you won't have to lie when you tell me that my pie is better." Lee was somewhat? Mostly? Joking about that.
Tarin turned the question around, but before Lee was able to reply, the waiter had returned and was asking for their dessert order.
"I'll have the cheesecake please," Lee said before turning to look at Tarin. Lee could only hope that the cheesecake, especially since the menu had proudly claimed it to be New York style was as good as the other food had been.

”Mmmm, I don’t now that it would be a lie.” he said, shrugging slightly, ”I’m not just flattering when I say that I’d have a real hard time finding one I liked better.” Even if Lee sounded like she was joking, it was worth saying. That pie had been great.
Lee was getting cheesecake, he should have known. The few times they’d talked about things like favorite desserts, cheesecake was always really high on Lee’s list. Tarin had seen the one on this menu, but he hadn’t been interested enough in it to order.
”Peach pie.” he said when it was his turn.
Once the waiter had left the table, Tarin looked over at Lee, ”So, any ideas about what we should do next? I could stay here all night, but I bet they’re going to want to flip the table sometime soon.”. If how fast the waiter had been there to get their orders was any indication, Tarin was right.

Lee had been surprised that the second blueberry pie she had made had turned out good. Very good. It had been good enough for even Kevin to comment on how it had tasted. Even Lee could admit that she had made a good pie.
But the fact that Tarin thought it would be hard for him to find a pie he liked better? That was a little more than Lee could believe. "I'm sure there are loads of better pies out there," she said softly.
After Tarin had ordered his peach pie and the waiter had left their tableside, Tarin asked if she had any ideas yet about what they could do. "Hmm," Lee said as she turned to loook out at the view again. It was fully dark now and while the cityscape laid out before them now looked very different from when they had first gotten to the restaurant, it was still an amazing view.
A smile spread across Lee's face as an idea came to her and she turned back to Tarin. "We could go for a walk in the park," she suggested. "I know we're there almost every day, but it really does look different at night, and I know a few places that are just gorgeous in the dark."

Tarin just shrugged when Lee said that she was sure that there were loads of better pies out there. Maybe there were. Tarin hadn’t said that there weren’t better pies. Tarin had said that he didn’t think that there were any out there that he would like better.
It was important that Lee had gone to all that effort for him. Nobody had really ever gone to any effort for him, and it just mattered. It didn’t really matter if the pie was legitimately the best pie, it was still his favorite.
Lee was looking out over the city, and Tarin followed her gaze. Now that it was fully dark and the buildings had turned on their lights, it was different. The sheer volume of buildings was still a bit surprising to Tarin, even after having lived in the city for most of his life, especially since he didn’t see it from this high up all that often.
Lee had a suggestion for what they could do next. The park? Tarin smiled and nodded. They were in the park almost every day. They ran in the park, they walked in the park.
They weren’t ever in the park at night though. Things looked different in the night and Lee knew places that were particularly nice.

Train simply shrugged when she had said that there had to be better pies. Especially since she had only successfully done it once. Though it was probably a good thing he hadn't said more; if he had, he probably would have gotten Lee to start blushing again.
And Tarin thought that walking in the park was a good idea. Lee's smile widened. "It'll probably be more crowded than I'm used to," Lee explained. "But it is dark enough that there will still be nice views. And definitely empty enough that I don't have to worry about how much energy I'm getting."

Lee explained that the park was going to be more crowded than when she was usually there and as she spoke, Tarin got more excited about the prospect of that walk in the park. Lee went on her nighttime runs alone owing to the fact that he had to sleep and Lee had gone on those runs alone for years.
Lee definitely knew the park, and would be more comfortable there too, because she could turn her siphoning back on.
”I can’t wait.” Tarin said, and as confirmation to his thoughts about the waiter wanting to turn the table, a server arrived with his piece of pie and Lee’s cheesecake.
It definitely looked good. Picking up his fork, Tarin cut a piece and ate it, chewing thoughtfully for a few moments before he looked over at Lee and shrugged,
”It’s real good, but I think I like blueberry better.”

Tarin seemed rather eager and excited to go on this walk. Lee hadn't really thought about purposely showing Tarin places in the park at night before, but the more excited that Tarin was getting about it, the more that Lee was wanting to show him. And Lee sat there for a moment while their desserts were set down in front of them thinking about which places she should show Tarin.
The cheesecake was now sitting in front of her, and Lee did not hesitate or wait for Tarin to try his first. Picking up her fork, Lee cut off the tip of the slice and put it in her mouth.
It wasn't the best cheesecake that Lee had had in her entire life, but it was by far the best that Lee had tasted in well over a decade.
And Tarin liked his pie as well. Though apparently he liked blueberry more. Lee smiled as her eyes dropped to her dessert. "This is really good, too."
