The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Aoi had picked up a large amount of things from the hardware store, they had questioned the amounts she requested but had sold it to her none the less. However her shopping had become to heavy for her to carry alone and she began to question if this had been a good idea at all. Outside the final store she had gotten an idea and bought several baskets. Unpacking the chain and using the tape measure app on her phone she looped the chain through the baskets and loaded them up with the rest of the chain, some locks, mood crystals, a chalk board and chalk, fish except one and several thick text books for subjects the mansion did not offer. The logic part of her brain told her this was a bad idea but the confidence in her won out. She had been practicing her powers and she had gotten better at control once she was a where of it all. Almost forgetting she put the chalk board around her neck very loose.
She struggled to an alley and behind a dumpster stripped down naked and put those in one of the baskets to. She felt the changes pulse through her being. The power the confidence and the strength. She doubled in height and had to bend down to keep from exposing herself until the fur began covering her body starting from her shortening hair and racing down her back and stomach until she was a bright white. Then came the claws capable of so much damage if needed and death if she failed to control the bear, it was a big reason this was risky. The chains tightened and Aoi mentally praised herself fir measuring it right, by spearing the fish still on the ground and bit it in half, quickly devouring it and eating the second half just as quickly. Her stomach appeased she did her best to make sure her things were secure and then a 1,200 pound Polar bear at 8pm walked casually out of the alleyway, it's back supporting packages chained around it's massive frame.
Aoi casually began the walk back to the mansion, if she could control the bear this way then she knew she had won against it. It took mere minutes for Aoi to realize how idiotic this idea has been. A casual wave to those waiting to cross a street, caused people to scatter and run, some discarding their things or tossing them at her. One man stood glued to his phone, glanced up. "Quite down Yogi, i'm on the phone" and then went back to talking on his phone. Aoi shrugged and moved past him, speeding up her walk as people started taking pictures, even as other started to run.
Aoi took the chalk board from her neck and turned it and used the chalk to write "Mutant, Not bear" quickly, people took more pictures and Aoi decided to start running before the bear decided it wanted more privacy by ending a few people. She was half way through the road when she heard the car horn blare and saw the car, shrieking break's and all heading for her. The bear wanted to charge the strange metal creature, Aoi forced the bear to leap, barely making it over the hood of the car and leaving deep scratches across the hood wear her claws dragged, she could not help but let out a cry of joy which the bear helping roared.

Sometimes, you expected a quiet night out, a stroll, enjoying the evening air and the buzz of a city that never slept. And then again, what you expected was very, very rarely what you actually got, which most certainly seemed like the case tonight. It had started with a street performer doing fire tricks in a park. That in and of itself was fine, but dressed as the tin man from Wizard of Oz? Now that had been unexpected. Then had been the argument some older gentleman was having with his elderly Pomeranian, both sitting on a bench. Much to Pen's surprise, with the timing of the barks the dog was making, it genuinely did look like an actual argument, which, frankly, was really, really funny to watch for a moment before she made her way out of the park and down the street.
Then, things had taken a turn for the more unusual, as well as more exciting. People running in the opposite direction. That was how it had started, and how it usually started when something bigger was afoot. This usually either involved some villain or other, a hero dealing with something or said villain, or in rarer cases, a straight up super brawl. Either way, Pen was both curious and a little worried, and thus headed towards whatever people was running from. Then came the yells and shouts about a polar bear, and honestly, this only got Pen more curious. The hell was a polar bear during on the streets of the Big Apple? Escaped a zoo? some villain's newest invention? laser shooting Polar bear maybe? Regardless, Pen continued onwards, looking around with curiosity, scouting for the Polar bear causing all the fuss.
And that was when she saw it, a actual freaking polar bear, with all sorts of items chained to it, for whatever reason, crossing a road. And then there was the car, because of course. Pen cursed to herself as she hurried towards the soon to be car crash, cursing the fact she didn't have her suit with her. However, what happened next, wasn't just incredible and lucky, it looked cool as fuck. Pen's eyes widened as the Polar bear made it across the car, and as it roared she cheered as well. "God damn that was SO cool!" she yelled, grinning before noticing the sign around the polar bear's neck, approaching the animal with curiosity to read it. Oh. ooooh. Oooooooooh that made more sense.
A mutant, of course it was a mutant. That explained both the surprising agility, as well as all the stuff chained to the ursine form. Pen approached, raising a hand to wave in greeting. "Uhm, hey, is everyone okay? You doing okay there?" she asked, looking first to the car and bear, before turning her attention to the Polar bear in particular, visually checking if it had gotten hurt, which didn't see to be the case at least. Thankfully, Pen had no idea how she'd help a freaking Polar bear if it was hurt anyway. Mutant. mutant polar bear? Whatever, this was not how she had expected her night to pan out, but honestly, she didn't mind at all, this was so cool.

Her ears flickered even as she glanced at the car who decided it might be better not to try and get a polar bears license and registration and from the rather Terrified look on the drivers face maybe her roar of joy had been to much, the screeching tires hurt her ears a bit and she did not think the driver even tried to read the sign, a waste, and a bit disappointing to her. She would have raised the sign but she became awhere of someone approaching and as she turned the woman was reading her sign. If Polar bears could smile she would have from her excitement that her idea was working, as it was she had to do all she could to prevent herself from showing to much excitement for fear of scaring her new acquaintance off.
She grabbed the chalkboard, almost prancing in excitement. and with her paw quickly erased the chalk that was there and delicately grabbed the chalk piece in her teeth and began writing. "I am all right, it is very nice to meet you Miss....? My name is Aoi. Was shopping for supply's for my room. You do not fear? She asked her writing was a bit stilted as she turned the board back around to show the women.
As she did she accidentally bite down on the chalk and her teeth went through the chalk like a butchers knife knife through warm butter. She spit out a mangled chalk piece coated in drool, she carefully tried to extract another piece from the back of the board, but found it was hard to try and attach to the string holder on it. She could hear people talking about her from what they thought was safe distances, some even wondered about the girl seemingly within devouring range. It smoke to the numbness of the city no one had tried to call the police yet, or maybe the cops were just to use to the strangeness now, or more likely in her mind they recalled who she was.
She glanced around anyway looking like she was smoking a long cigar with the brown chalk piece in her teeth, the ocastionel white puff of the former piece somewhat added to the effect. She glanced around again and watched as people turned their gaze as if not looking at her would make them less threatening, no, to the bear it just meant they looked like prey but the bear was fed so it did not offer much more then acknowledgement from it's instincts.
There is some things you don't really think about, things you don't realize you didn't think you'd ever see, until you see them and is simultaneously proven wrong, as you are in fact seeing it right before your eyes. And for Pen, watching a polar bear grab a piece of chalk and delicately write on a chalkboard with it was definitely on that list. Yet here we were as Aoi presented herself, impressing Pen with both how much delicate and dexterous work she was capable of doing as a freaking polar bear as well as the task itself of communicating through writing.
Pen then read the message, shaking her head some as she smiled. "Nah, I ain't afraid, you don't seem the harmful type. I mean, you're talking with me through a chalkboard at the moment, that doesn't exactly scream bloodthirsty monster I don't think. I'm Pen, nice to meet you." She greeted with a broad smile. "I'd shake your hand but, well, paw, you know." she chuckled, scratching the back of her head before looking around, as well as checking up on the people in the car near them. Thankfully no one was hurt, and so, her attention returned to Aoi as she smiled again. "So, you need some help carrying some of this back to your room or something? People might chill a bit when they see us walking together...maybe." Pen suggested, shrugging a little as she looked at the Polar bear in front of her, a somewhat excited expression on her face. This all was still so really, really cool.

She was relieved she had found someone who was willing to run away screaming. This was progress and already made this lady seem more intelligent then the others to Aoi. Her excitement calmed Aoi's nervousness a bit and she quieted the bear instincts that simply wondered if she was food, they had fish. She would have smiled if it were at all possible for her.
It was very true a handshake was impossible and with the baskets as they were she did not want to try and stand, as someone might try and save this nice lady from the wild Polar Bear. Each of her feet were almost a foot wide and each armed with claws that could punch through ice and rip apart a Seal.
She tilted her head considering the offer and considered writing that she could carry it all herself in this form. Instead she wiped off the board and wrote. "All right Ms. Pen, Do you Like fish?" she asked and assuming she did, she would with a few tries lower the basket whom even with the basket lid on, smelled of the salmon within. She had grown rather fond of the fish once she had become a Bear as Seals were not really considered something you ate and did not show up in food stalls. Otherwise she would lower the one with the locks and thirty foot of extra chain within, as well as her clothing which was just thrown on top of the other stuff in the basket.
She looked up at the street sign a moment to make sure was still going the right way. "I had hoped the sign might work better, still since you stopped and talked it does work. Have you been to Xavoirs Mansion? It is about a thirty minute walk from here. " She wrote not wanting the girl to volunteer for something longer then she wanted to. She stretched her back and let out a grunt as she straightened back up, ignoring the flash of a camera in a passing car. "I can cook for some of the fish for you when we get there In thanks" she wrote happy to seemly have if not a new friend then having met a very kind girl
