The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She was fully aware of the armed nature of the last two and didn't want to leave with more holes in her than she came in with... so she lingered behind. The fight was over pretty quick, so Megan headed in as soon as the weapons were no longer an issue. When Xavier gave her the all clear, she was standing silently behind him.
The man in his grasp, Neil, was wondering a lot of things as she struggled in vain in Xavier's grip. Who had narced? Why was the beefy boy from the news stories the one who showed up? Who the hell was he giving the all-clear too?
Megan stepped out from behind her tall classmate with a pleased smile on her lips and her eye half-lidded. Well, her human eyes that is.
"Neil." She greeted, almost like an old friend of hers. Megan stepped around with her hands out and, with help, securely bound him. "You really should have hired better underlings."
Now bound and un-muffled, Neil was sweating and looking back and forth between both teens. "And just who the hell are you supposed to be? I recognize One In a Million over there, but I haven't ever seen your face before."
Oh, but he probably had. If her information was correct he had seen and worked with an older version of her. Different face and all.
"I wouldn't want to sully my own name by hearing you speak it, so if we can skip that bit that would be great." She knelt so that she was at the same level as him and dug the picture out of her purse.
"Have you ever seen this person before?"
Neil took a moment to absorb what she had said and how she had said it, and some of the surprises fell off his face. Anger and slime remained.
"And what if I have? What's a gorgeous girl like you going to give me in exchange, hmm?" Also, could he use this to get himself out of the current situation?
He leaned in as much as the web allowed him to, purely so that he could try and get a whiff of her. Both to satisfy his natural curiosity and to try and spook her. It was always satisfying watching new fear blossom in the eyes of girls like her.
Megan didn't move. Her expression didn't change, either. She watched him calmly as he drew near enough that she could feel his breath on her.
The spider on Xavier's head was tapping out a steady tune in the drum-beat of 'all is well.
"Let's say I have seen 'er. If I tell you what I know, I want my lawyer down here asap and leniency." Neil wasn't an unattractive man. He knew he had naturally rugged looks and had used them to his advantage before. He whispered a slew of the more lewd, suggestive things he could think of at her.
He didn't notice her hand lifting, aiming to sink into his hair and grip it tightly, until he did and was caught mildly by surprise. Megan was smiling at him placidly, and every eye on her head was focused directly on him.
"You have a very filthy mouth."
She jerked his head to the side, exposing his neck, and leaned forward quickly to sink the fangs in her mouth deep into his flesh.
Neil screamed. The scream of a man who thought he had an edge and instead found out he didn't have a leg to stand on.
She pulled away a second later with a wet smacking sound, his blood dripping from her lips, and released his hair.
"Neil... do you know what large doses of Brown Recluse spider venom does to the human body?" She managed to keep her tone pleasant, all things considered.
Megan was already here. She was... right behind him. Ohhh, boy. That was. Wait, was it mean to say that was creepy? He didn't want to be mean. Was it mean to think it?
He helped bind the man, unable to avoid the sinking feeling he felt like something bad was about to happen. Stepping back, he folded his arms and tried not to plume in silent pride as the villain actually recognised him! That was the first time! Megan retorted with a line straight out of the noble age of heroes. He realized he was in a cut scene.
Dramatic speech started to play out. She showed him her picture. He started to act very rude. Xavier frowned and crossed his arms, looking as intimidating as possible through the tension in the room. He felt the spider tapping him, and shifted a bit uncomfortably. Was everything okay? It didn't seem okay. He leaned in a bit when the man started whispering to her. Was it a confession? No, it seemed more-
She bit him!
"Megan!"
He'd taken a step forward, but stopped as he looked at the man. She said something about venom. Brown recluse? His eyes widened as he recalled his scouts training; their bites were nasty. Had she? On his neck!
"Megan, you promised-" The spider on his head was still tapping out the all is well signal. He halted mid step toward them, clenching his jaw. How could all be well? Unless.
Was she bluffing? He watched with a concerned look on his face. He couldn't let anyone die around him, bad or not. Still... She was his friend. He could trust her to do the right thing... Right?
He leaned as far away as possible, curling into the side of his neck she had bitten.
"Oh my, what a change. You were all full of sweet nothings a moment ago." She lifted the picture in her other hand again. "You should know that venom I just injected into your system is necrotic in nature, and, if your tiny little monkey brain doesn't understand what that means, it means that very soon it will start dissolving you from the inside out."
The pain radiating from his wound would be enough to tell him something had definitely happened, and the fangs that retreated back into her mouth sure seemed like more than enough proof.
"If you don't tell me what I need to know, you are going to die a very painful, slow death as your insides liquefy. But, if you do tell me what you know, I have a way to nullify the effects. An Antivenom if you will."
Neil had run out of cuss words and was listening finally, which was good. He also seemed to believe her, which was also good.
"You promise?! Promise!"
"I promise that you will die if you do not do as I asked."
Neild swore under his breath, sweating profusely, and took a breath in.
"Okay, fine! Her name's Charlotte. She worked freelance with us for a bit like, a year ago providing-" He paused, gears turning in his head. "....silk. Wait a minute-"
"Times ticking Neil. Do you feel your lungs breaking down yet?"
"W-wait! She sold us silk in bulk, for personal protective equipment and stuff- but we haven't heard from her in a year! B@#$% didn't even drop off the last shipment she owed us! That's it, I swear!"
"I believe you." She folded up the photo again and tucked it away.
"Okay, Mr. Million. We can go now." She stood and turned to face Xavier.
It was honestly super hard to sit and watch this not knowing for sure if someone was going to die near him. His fists clenched and he had to put the sension into his thighs so he didn't shake. He visibly relaxed when she said she had an antivenom. He wasn't a fan of interrogations involving torture, but at least she wasn't going to leave him for dead.
He wasn't exactly an expert, but it became evident pretty quickly that this guy was going to break. There it was. Huh... Megan sold them silk? Like, for armor. Spider silk was supposed to be super strong, right? He looked to Megan. What was she thinking? How did she react to finding out her role in things.
She suddenly turned away, and said they could go. Xavier's eyes widened, and he pointed to the man. "M-Megan, you can't leave him like this!"
Also, they had to call the police, and send them this way to discover the printing press and the stamps. These people needed to go to prison for their crime, so they could be rehabilitated!
She paused mid-turn, and the swung back to look at Xavier.
And then she smiled and giggled.
"Oh, don't be silly. I never put any venom in him in the first place. He's only got minor puncture marks."
Neil looked... shocked? Pale and sweaty and suddenly very quiet. Her smile widened a bit more exclusively for him. "I just figured that since you spouted all of that fantasy at me, I'd share a bit of my own."
The spider on X's head patted him, but... almost in symathy.
"Now is a great time for us to call the police in. I have all of the information I need."
She left him there, heading outside to stand on the sidewalk and wait.
She... had things to think about anyway.
When Xavier came out she was still there. With one arm tucked loosely behind her back and the other angled so that she could tap at her chin in thought.
She didn't wait for him to speak and just headed down the sidewalk toward the building where her shoes were.
"Do you think..." She started, still sort-of lost in her own thoughts, "That I would be able to start up silk production again and... give it to the school?"
She turned and looked at him again, honest curiosity on her features.
Xavier's face redenned as she turned to him and stated as if it were obvious that she was buffing. He was ashamed. How could he not have trusted her? "You are... the scariest nice person I have ever met."
He followed her out after pulling out his phone to make the call to the local police. It was a quick conversation, he'd heard gunshots nearby and someone screaming for help inside. That would get a squad car and an ambulance there pretty quickly this late.
Walking behind her as they headed to retrieve her shoes, he looked up in thought as she mentioned making silk for the X-Men... "Well, you'd have to talk to Shin, or Mirror about it, I guess... But I think it sounds like a cool idea!" He was happy. This had gone well. Criminals defeated, past unlocked, and possibly a positive resource from the mansion came of it.
"Remember, you don't owe me or anything. Friends help friends."
She ignored his comment about owing him. Really, that was to her decide... wasn't it?
"I will run it by someone. Would you be interested in testing out some applications of the idea with me? I am interested in this... personal protection idea. I wonder what applications it might have."
The walk didn't take long to get back to the warehouse where she could collect her shoes and parasol. She was also able to finally give him back his cape.
"Can you imagine A whole set of less destructible clothes for the training rooms?" Silk was an expensive fabric, and spider silk certainly had some unique qualities. A lot of this matched up with what she had seen in 'her' old apartment.
Once she was dressed and they were on their way back out to the street, she used her phone to order rideshare.
"...Thank you." She meant it, too. "This went a lot smoother than I had anticipated thanks to you."
The wee little spider was still on him, occasionally tapping away its own nervous little patter as they walked.
"May I admit something?"
Eyes started to absorb back into her skin and before long were gone entirely. The parts on her palms and the legs on her back followed after, though the legs too longer.
"I didn't trust you at all when I first met you. You come across as too polished- to perfect, to be genuine... in a lot of ways." Megan offered a sympathetic smile, "I'm glad you proved me wrong. It's refreshing to be friends with you."
And, just because she didn't want to end the night on too positive of a note, "Even if I do get urges occasionally to take a bite of you." She twirled her parasol gently.
"Oh, for sure! Who wouldn't want soft, ultra tough, and lightweight armor?" He'd heard about people making spider silk armor prototypes in the past; it just hadn't been practical. With the volume of silk she could make it would suddenly become a workable idea.
He smiled. "Thanks, Megan, I can't wait to see how that turns out!" He would do anything he would give her an arm to lean on while she got her shoes on, and then follow her to the street.
She thanked him, and he scratched the back of his head. "Heh, I'm glad it went well! It was probably one of the coolest things I've done so far! The Trickster really was a great hero; I followed all of his guides on separating and taking out henchmen, and it went just like his book said it would!"
He felt a tap on his head again, and looked up a bit, as if he would somehow see it. His eyes were drawn back down to her bright blues as she asked him a retorical question. "Mm?"
His expression shifted a couple of times, to confusion when she said she didn't trust him, to a shy smile when she said boing friend with him was refreshing, and finally, eyes widened as she admitted wanting to bite him.
"...But you wouldn't, right Megan?" No reply. "Right?.... Megan?"
