The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She smiled, a little secretive curl of her lips. "I have access to student files, as well as the Danger Room training archives. I have seen and read a lot of things."
Including about Xavier, but there was no reason to let secrets spill without a need and he was probably the most boring x-men trainee's she had ever read about.
Ah... there was that friend's thing again. It was... endearing? She'd only even teased him and given him a slight cold shoulder so it was a tad bit confusing where it had apparently started.
"One can only hope so. Apparently, I've eaten people before. I can't imagine much worse than that."
The driver swerved a little and she smiled at his confused face in the rearview mirror, as four bright blue principle arachnid eyes gradually appeared on her forehead like decorative gems.
The rest of the ride went smoothly, if a bit tense, as the driver was trying to figure out if that had been a weird joke by two kids. They arrived at the destination, which was a block away from where their target was supposed to be arriving, and Megan climbed out.
"Cab drivers must have some very interesting stories from customers in this city."
She headed off in the direction of her chosen stakeout, which was a smaller abandoned building just down from the warehouse where the operation was run. They were close enough to the docks that water could be heard slapping on the wooden pillars, and you could smell salt in the air.
It was cold, considering it was winter, and though goosebumps popped up on the exposed parts of her she didn't outwardly react to the chill.
"Uhm... Isn't that a violation of student confidentiality?" Xavier stared with a raised eyebrow at her confession. Just who did they give his information out to at the mansion? Did people know where his father lived?
His jaw dropped again as she mentioned eating people. "Oh... wow... Wait, is that why, uhm, with the raw meat?"
Was it intrusive to ask? Wait, wasn't it intrusive to look at his file? Oh, but two wrongs didn't make a right! He looked to Megan to ask if it was alright for him to pry, and froze when he noticed her... extra eyes?
What is the woooooorld? They were dropped off where she requested, and he followed, still looking at her oddly. "Uhm... yeah..."
Clipping off his cape ,he draped it over her shoulders as they walked. He could tell she was cold, and he always ran warm. "So... we are waiting for him to arrive? Or leave?
She nodded slightly and kept a loose smile on. "Yes. At some point, apparently, my mutation must have messed with something else in my DNA. I can't eat processed foods, or vegetables, or bread. Just... meat." It was only fair to be as honest with him as she could, she was in a position to know things she rightly shouldn't after all.
"The last time I was this age a mutation hadn't even shown itself, so... I am still adjusting. Honestly, the predatory urges are probably the worst out of everything."
The cape was appreciated, and she didn't bother arguing. Two back, fuzzy spider legs crept out from where they had been hidden in the lace of her dress to hold the cape down onto her shoulders.
She didn't bother turning her face toward him as the eyes on her forehead were busy watching him instead.
"We are waiting for him to arrive. Once he is there I can send in scouts to get an idea of how many people are in there, and what we might be up against. If, for example, the odds don't seem to be in our favor, I will call it off. I don't wish for you, or I, to die after all."
She pointed at the building they would be walking toward with one hand while reaching out to snag his closest hand with her other.
"...on our left." She whispered, and then giggled loudly as he had just told her a joke.
There were two men in the shadows off to the side, smoking fiddling with their phones, but watching them as well.
"You weren't wrong, it is lovely down here at this time of the day. Spooky, just like I like it."
A silent order was given, and a small shower of black fuzzy spiders fell from the depths of her skits, hitting the ground on gossamer lines and skittering off in different directions.
One scuttled over from her hand onto his, and then made its way up to his arm.
"I will need you to keep me from walking into anything if you can, I am going to check things out now."
Her normal eyes grew distant and she stared straight forward and a little bit down, effectively blind as she switched her sight from one spider to the next and so on.
Xavier's expression softened a bit as she explained the affect her mutation had on her. "I couldn't imagine... I'm sorry that's happening, Megan." It was a little unnerving, the extra eyes. It made him wonder, however... Was... that how she seemed to be aware of everything? if she could do that, she could literally have eyes on the back of her head!
"Ah, okay... Wait, Scouts?" The mysteries were coming to light in rapid succession. Scouts. Her spiders? Wait, could they communicate with her?! Oh, wait! Did she see through their eyes? Woooah cool! She grabbed his hand suddenly. "Wh-" She whispered, and then started randomly laughing?
"Uhm... Megan? What are you... laughing at?" His brow furrowed as he wiggled his hand out as a spider started up his arm. "What the- Megan, didn't we talk about this? You said you weren't attracted to me, and, honestly, I see you as a friend-"
Wait... Oh- OOHHHH... Oh... "Heh heh, um. Nevermind." He blinked and hesitantly grabbed her by the shoulders to steer her. He was... dressed as a super hero. It wasn't like he could be in any way inconspicuous. "Well, young lady, if your home is really this way, we'll certainly have to tell your parents about your behavior! Underage drinking, You can hardly stand straight!"
See? He could think of convincing fibs, too! His brain was about to explode, and his eye was twitching, but he was fibbing, for sure!
She was focused on flitting between different spiders as they skittered into position and fighting off the headache she knew would coming along soon. Preemptive painkillers helped, but the sheer number of them she had to take to get any effect generally made them a last resort.
Xavier proved right off the bat that she had made some very clear mistakes in how deeply she trusted him, as he got the wrong idea lodged in his head immediately and potentially spoiled her whole act with just the worst improvisation.
"Xavier..." She kept her voice low, "I want you to know that I still respect you. It must be hard going through life as you do with that pea-sized brain bouncing around in your skull errantly."
She cut the connection with her spiders temporarily so that she could come back to herself long enough to see. "And also that I am not sorry." And then she stomped on his foot, hard, and took off running.
"Whatever dude! Stop being such a prude!"
She vanished around a corner directly up ahead with a giggle, and then stopped, waiting while twirling her parasol. There was a door right next to her, their entrance to the abandoned building. Once Xavier showed up they could enter and lurk for a bit while she spied from afar.
Situation saved as threadbare as possible, Xavier felt proud of himself even as the two men sent suspicious glances their way.
And then Megan said to him something that was easily in the top ten of the meanest things that had ever been said to him. "Oh... Oh wow."
She then stomped on his foot and ran off. It didn't hurt at all; she weighed practically nothing compared to him, and didn't appear to know how to fight in the least. The steel-toed boots helped there as well. Frowning, he chased after her, trying to shake off the harsh words. She needed help, after all.
"G- Get back here!" He gave chase, turning around the corner and stopping when he spotted her... Eyes glanced toward the ground as he found an interesting pebble on the ground and toed at it.
He rounded the corner and.... oh, good lord, was he pouting?
"Don't mope, it's unbecoming."
Pushing the door open, she stepped inside the pitch-black building. As soon as she could put a hand out for a wall to feel her way inside, she shifted her vision back to that of her spiders, checking in on where they were.
"He's there."
She froze just outside of the light filtering in through a window, eyes wide and distant, and absorbed all she could.
Three men in the first room, where the target was.
Two had small-caliber guns, visible. The target was either unarmed or had his hidden.
In a different room, she spotted another man toiling away at an active press, and in yet another room she spotted two more; A man and a woman, both well-armed with rifles.
"Small and large-caliber weapons. Six.. seven.. nine, no, ten people in total. Eight inside, two outside."
She was spitting out everything she saw calmly, adding, and editing as she went. "Two floors. We can enter from the top maybe."
"Moping? Who's moping? Not me. I'm- I'm fine. Was just... cleaning the floor over here. The ground. Cleaning the ground." He sighed and followed her into the building, keeping a wary eye out before turning as she annouced she'd found him.
He paused for a second, stepping up to wave a hand in front of her eyes. Sure enough, blind as a bat. She was in the eyes of her spiders. Amazing. That made a lot of things make sense. A lot of things. He stepped away, listening to her description of what she saw.
People with guns It could get dangerous quick. Ideally, he was able to take out several of them before anyone was alerted... Still, he shifted uncomfortably. "And you'll... what, keep me informed while I'm in there? How? You didn't plan to come in, did you?"
"While that is something I am capable of on a limited capacity, no. I will not be sending you in there alone."
She blinked, letting her eyes readjust to being inside her own head again, and looked up at him. "Even with your obvious lack of awareness and improvisational skills, I still feel that you are fully capable of keeping me safe enough to venture inside as well."
She was going to have to leave the decorative parasol behind though, as it went against the 'no killing' rule in its intent. She leaned it up against the wall and fished her taser out so she could have it dangling from around her wrist.
"This is where I transfer the lead of this mission to you. I will follow directions as you give them and offer up help if needed. I can still see where each of those people are and have limited knowledge of what they are saying."
So, she was coming with. Dressed like that? Well, he supposed people dressed like that in the comic books... All power to her, if she could fight in heels.
She insulted him again, and his face turned a bit red as she looked away. "Right."
The mission was his now. He sighed, and took a deep breath, before turning to her. "Find any entry points to the top level on the outside... A fire escape, anything like that. If not, we can get up there other ways, I'd just prefer less effort if we can save the energy. We need to find entry points for as many of the rooms on the top floor as we can. If we can clear them out one by one, and retreat to the roof each time, we will be harder to pin down when they realize what is going on."
He stepped away from the exit, pulling out some chalk from his utility fanny pack. "Can you draw out a diagram of the floors? Mark entry points, pathways. We go for the most isolated first. Then we work from there. If we can get rid of his support, having a talk with him will be much easier."
If she knew anything about any of this stuff, she would know this was as by the book as things like this got. It was literally taken from the hero manuals, hostage situation and breeching guides. In his mind, that was the best approach. By the book, above the table.
Megan dove back in, giving out silent commands for all of her spiders on the top floor to do a quick sweep of the rooms they were in.
"Two entrances from the top. One doorway directly on the roof, one on the second floor, seaside, that leads to a fire escape."
Blinking at him as she came back, she took the piece of chalk and nodded. "Smart. A great first step. This will... take a bit." Crouching in heels wasn't the most comfortable, so she unzipped them and set them off to the side by her parasol. Short black socks over her stockings kept her toes from getting cold.
She settled with chalk in hand, knees folded under her carefully as she breathed in and prepared herself. Hopping about through her spiders long enough to get a good grip on the whole outline of the building was possible, but she was worried it would push her to her limits.
...Well, only one way to find out, right?
Gradually she started sketching out the schematics of various rooms with all of the important bits. Doors, windows, which way door swung open, ect. It took an agonizingly long time for her and by the time she had a rough, but an accurate diagram of both floors traced on the floor, her head was pounding and there was a steady trickly of blood coming from one nostril.
"Done." Megan stood, a bit shakily, and handed what was left of the chalk back. Then she fished her phone out to take a quick picture of her own sketch so that they would have it with them.
"The small circles are representations of where each person is, currently, and the ones with circles X'ed through are the two who have large guns."
Xavier's brow furrowed as she called his actions smart. Which was it, then? And why did it bother him so much? He knew he was intelligent. It didn't matter what she thought about how he thought.
He nodded to himself, leaning down to look at her representation of the map. Quickly, what they were dealing with came into lucidity, and the young blonde stood, hand resting on his chin as he stared down at the map. Okay. Okay, they could do this. A drop of blood fell onto the map. He looked up to her to see her nose bleeding. "Woah, are you okay?" What that from using her powers? "Don't... don't push yourself too much, okay?"
He did the same as she did, pulling out his loaner trainee communicator and snapping a photo. "Are.. you okay to call out as they move rooms? I don't want to kill you doing this." He paused, and looked back to her.
"I, um... If you get on my back, we can get to the roof pretty quick." She was shaky from the use of her power; it would be a nice break for her if he took care of their ascent to the roof. He took back his chalk and carefully tucked it away in his hip pouch.
He shifted in place, before turning, and crouching down to invite her onto his back. He could run with her weight quite easily, he was sure, and the jump wouldn't be too much of a problem when they were close.
"I'm...fine." She wiped the trail away on the back of her lace gloved and soon enough it dried up. "It happens when I look too long... but I took about 30 aspirin before coming to collect you so it shouldn't get much worse."
To be honest, his concern over this particular symptom of her power wasn't unwarranted. She truly didn't know how far she could push herself before it became worse than a nose bleed and a migraine. Could she kill herself? It wasn't off the table. "I should be fine so long as I take a break when it isn't needed. My spiders can alert me in other ways if they are on the move, or heading out way."
Without complaint, she carefully climbed on and settled as comfortably as she could without jabbing him or digging in unnessesarily. He might be surprised to find out that contrary to what her sedentary lifestyle would lead one to believe, she was not squishy. Megan was made of firm, unused muscle from a diet of basically pure protein.
"The spider on you. One tap means all clear, two taps is caution, in case anything happens to me and I am unable to translate for them."
To show him, the small black, blue-eyed spider scuttled out onto his chest and used slightly larger than normal frontlets to tap out a little drumbeat on him in a whimsical fashion.
"If one bites you, that will mean immediate danger and that you need to get out." She chuckled after a moment to let that sink in. "Don't worry though, I shrank their poison glands so it won't hurt much."
The pause before fine wasn't convincing him, but he relented just the same. The mentioning of downing a bunch of aspirin was a little concerning. "Are you sure that's healthy?" Weren't you only supposed to do that if you were about to have a heart attack?
She dismissed his fears, but gave him an alternative in the way of tappy spider. He didn't seem to react too much to having a spider crawl up him. Simply put, he wasn't afraid of spiders in the least. "Hello there, little friend! Thank you! You may want to try and find a safe spot on me, though... It's going to get dangerous!"
She let out one last bit on instruction, and he stared at her for a long moment afterward. "Wait, so you can... manipulate thier biology?! Woah... you're like... A litte mad scientist!" He grinned at that. She really was; she even acted like it half of the time.
He noticed her inexplicably slightly toned body. He'd never seen her exert herself in anything more than the bare minimum requirement in gym, so he was a little thrown off by it, but he lifted her easily enough. "Hold on tight."
He started moving. Quickly. It might surprise her just how fast he was when he wanted to be. They zipped through the shadows, pausing only to make sure the two men out front weren't looking their way. In one smooth motion he applied his power to the ground as they neared the side of the building. They were in the air moments later, soaring just enough to get to roof level. It was a testament to the control he had over his power, that he got the height and angle just right for them to land mid step and keep running until they were central to the roof by the entrance.
He set her down gently. "Okay... So... What are we looking like now? Paint a picture." He pulled out his phone to look at his album once more to see the layout. Once she confirmed all was well, he could get moving.
"Not healthy for normal people, maybe, but it's the only dosage for me that works even slightly. Something about my body not absorbing them properly."
The small spider seemed to understand him to a degree, and after a silent prompt from Megan it saluted and scurried up to hide in his blonde hair. It would pop out and slap him gently on the forehead if it was needed.
"I can, or at least as far as I know that is what I am doing. I make them, and when I'm creating them I can pick and choose from various traits I want them to have. I only have a select few varieties, so I assume I must not have access to the whole arachnid family tree. I... still have a lot to figure out."
Hold on tight she did. She wasn't at all surprised at how fast he was seeing as she had witnessed it remotely a few times. Feeling it first hand was a bit startling so she did have to readjust her grip after he took off.
Once she was set down she smoothed out her skirt and took his prompt to hop back into remote viewing. Flipping through various sets of eyes like one might flip through channels, and focusing just a bit on the few people who were talking.
"...The guards by the front are chatting about us. Apparently, they've come to the conclusion that it was some kind of weird role play and we must be off in one of the buildings together. They..." She paused, brows scrunching slightly, "...are considering going and checking it out."
She shifted toward the pair inside which the big guns. "The two with the rifles haven't moved. They are talking about... horse races, I think."
Switching over to the trio inside, she noticed that one was gone. "One is missing from the two with our main target. I'm searching-"
One spider scuttling down a short hall stopped above a closed door with a light on inside. There was a bathroom sign beside it. It only took a moment for her to guide the spider down and inside under the door where she found the last man sitting on the toilet and scrolling through his phone.
"...Bathroom, second floor. Currently, he is the only one on the second floor."
She came back and, while squinting through blurry vision, pointed out the bathroom on the picture on his phone. "He has one small gun that I could see. If you can incapacitate him, I can gag and bind him."
She peeled off her gloves, tucking them away into her little purse, and exposed the spinnerets centered in each palm.
