The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The late hour exercise was by design. To a person who grew up training alone in the woods, or with only the closest of family members it felt.. odd to have complete strangers doing their thing with no affiliation able to watch and oogle. Himari didn't mind the occasional appreciative ogling, in fact it rather boosted ones confidence quite nicely. Without her skirts, stocking, and other clothes she felt rather exposed in her camisole and boxing shorts. Mostly do to her lack of pronounced feminine characteristic. In her opinion huge endowments would just get in the way of her training anyway, but it would be nice to have a little something.. more.
With that little bit of typical teen awkwardness she found herself coming to the gym in late hours when people were busy doing other things like sleeping, studying or eating. Leaving the gym to herself on most nights and able to concentrate on what she was doing without any undue self awareness. There was one person.. a teacher that seemed to share the same schedule on occasion, but was thankfully impersonal. Their presence simply there, but unobtrusive and she had grown used to the teacher somewhat. A strange mutual respect f two people striving to be their best without any words needed.
Tonight she held some heavy hand weights in her hand and was slowly going through her sword exercises to keep the muscles worked. It wasn't perfect, but unless she wanted to give away the possession of her sword it was the next best thing. The door opened and her fellow night exerciser entered. Sparing a moments concentration to at least acknowledge the woman's arrival with a amethyst eyed look and a polite small head nod before returning to moving the weights about in the air glacially slow. Willpower overriding simple fatigue with the iron discipline of it having to be perfectly done.
The trouble with things being so bloody freezing outside this time of year was that outside exercise was less fun. Serena still went for regular runs around the mansion grounds even when there was frost around because it was simply good for her, but when she was at the mansion late at night after patrolling, or finishing up after a long day of classes or any other number of things Serena got up to. She liked to exercise. She wouldn't hog the danger room tonight though, she'd just do some exercises in the gym.
It felt like she was spending more and more time at the mansion instead of her apartment, she basically just slept and did edits in there these days. With a sigh she pushed the gym door open, some soft rock music playing in tightly tucked in wireless headphones for working out.
A teenager was also using the space, again. Serena recognised her from late night exercises previous to this one, but also from classes. She was pretty sure the girl was a 'problem' student. Which Serena didn't really like the idea of, it wasn't so much that the mansion labelled or mislabelled people in any certain way. It wasn't an official thing as far as she was aware, and she was sure the girl was probably struggling or just bored.
But there was a certain way that some students, particularly socially awkward or shy ones tended to be perceived when they didn't engage with work, either by peers or teachers. She was familiar. She smiled at the teen and searched for the name in her memory. So many kids...
Serena got out some exercise mats and began going through some basic warm ups, gently pulling out her earphones and waving at the girl. Hiyori? No. that wasn't right, was it Himari? Godess, she hoped so. "Hi there, it's Himari correct? Up late again?"

There was something to be said for people from a near tropical climate moving to what she would consider an Artic one. Awful. First she was limited in what she wore, much to her sister's delight, and second it meant exercising indoors. With all its associated foibles. The warmer weather couldn't come soon enough and she wouldn't feel like a prisoner trapped within walls.
Despite her problem child status she wasn't much of an active terror. Sure she would get in the occasional fight with a bully or slept in class, but she never crossed the line into actual nuisance. If she wasn't going to actively participate she wasn't about to disrespect the teachers so blatantly as that. Even if some of them didn't feel that way for her napping. It wasn't like she was distracting kids with her phone after all. There was just no pleasing some people.
She was concentrating on extending the heavy weight one handed horizontally away from her when she heard the teacher speak again. Unwilling to break her concentration to go any faster she made the teacher wait a few short moments to finish the defined path in her mind before setting the weight down, shaking a bit. "Hai Rivers-Sensei. The weather will not keep me from my training and.. it is difficult to sleep without exercising like I am used too. Yourself?" It was all stated very politely and without a trace of irritation. More dry amusement at the fact they were conversing at all.
It was undoubtedly the most she had ever said in the woman's or probably even another teacher's presence. Himari figured that was because none of them bothered to ask questions she cared about. The irony that her sister was a cat and the sociable one was never lost on her. Who said there wasn't a such thing as divine humor?
She took a moment to towel off her sweaty face, before settling into a stretching routine to ease her sore arms. The purpled darkness of her usually pink hair indicating she had already been at it for some time or indulging in some strenuous exercises. Her purple eyes watching the teacher politely now that they were having a conversation.. at least she thought they might be. What if they weren't? Akward..
