The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Yellow lights lit up the mansion hallway, moving in time with the young woman sporting a matching yellow mohawk. Currently, she was wearing a sleeveless shirt that just showed off her opal naval piercing, topped off by a pair of short black shorts and just her slippers--she'd learned the hard way that it wasn't really a good idea to run around the mansion barefoot. She didn't plan on going outside, so she dressed comfortably. However...as the rainbow-haired mutant neared her destination, she realized she might have been a bit too comfortable than Emily was used to seeing.
Her hair turned a smidgen purple as she realized that there was really no turning back now. Besides...this outfit made it easy to do what she planned on doing, anyway. She took a deep breath as she knocked on the door, waited a few seconds or for an order to hang on a second, and then opened the door, stepping inside and shutting it behind it.
"Hey Em! You wait for me long?" she asked with a smile as her hair turned that pink that had become synonymous with their time together. A light blush tinted her cheeks, overwhelmed with emotions. Happiness, excitement, passion, nervousness....and that was just the surface emotions.

The December-January period had been pretty relaxed for Emily, mostly spending some time with her girlfriend and catching up on work here and there, but as February approached the work heavy parts of her life picked up again. A whole new semester of topics and modules for her to cover was a slight system shock. She'd worked over the holidays, around the mansion mostly. But getting back into the College mindset was a lot more difficult than she'd expected it to be. As a result she'd not spent as much time with Skye as she maybe would have liked.
She knew that her and Skye were hanging out today, but she'd gotten side tracked on making notes and working on a new assignment. She bounced up when she felt the signature mix of intense emotions that could only be Skye approaching her door way and glanced down at what she was wearing. It could charitably be a lazy day. She was practically still in pajamas. Time had gotten away from her, oopsie.
She quickly closed down the stuff she was working on and had just about finished what she was doing when Skye opened the door and stepped inside, turning her head to smile Emily blinked. "I appear to be very under dressed." Comfortable lounging bottoms and a long sleeved top didn't really compare to Skye's wardrobe. They weren't planning on going anywhere as far as she was aware, but she supposed she could always change if Skye wanted to go out and do something. She'd be up for that.
Crossing the room towards her girlfriend Emily shook her head. "I got absorbed in something and lost track of time. I am however very excited to see you~" She reached out and gently grasped her girlfriend's fingers, letting the mixture of intensity wash over her from the close proximity, like a cat basking near a radiator.
"Nah, I just like to dress cute unless I'm asleep," she said with a shrug, implying that her hoodies qualified as 'cute.' She smiled as Emily took her hand, and she leaned in and gave her girlfriend a gentle, loving kiss on the lips. "It's fine. You get anything done or have you just spent the entire day thinking about me?" she teased after the kiss broke, sticking out her tongue as her other hand sort of toyed with the hem of her pink shirt, fingers lightly brushing against the piercing.
"I'm happy to see you too, but you knew that already," she replied with a sheepish smile. She understood that Em was busy, and though that somewhat brought back old feelings of dread, she had faith that Emily wasn't going to kick her to the curb as soon as things got hard. "Honestly, I thought I might have been a little...under dressed myself," she admitted with a small blush as her hair flitted purple again. "But I'm glad you approve," she teased, hair and lights going back to pink as Skye's confidence returned. She used to be much less self-conscious, but...since she became the type to commit, she found herself hoping her girlfriend approved of...just about everything she did.

"You don't need to dress to be the cutest." She teased, smiling widely, blushing a little as Skye leaned in and gave her a kiss. She still wasn't wholly down with the physical intimacy thing, or contact in general. But she was getting there. She didn't even need alcohol to kiss her girlfriend, repeatedly. "Would it make you happy to say yes?" She actually hadn't, it was usually when she got distracted that she thought about Skye, and ahem. Kissing.
Emily's fingers moved across Skye's waist, gently wrapping around it. She did this a lot, either looping over the waist or shoulders, she just didn't usually touch this much bare skin. "I did." She smiled more and gave Skye another little kiss. "Skye, I approve of you no matter what you are, or are not wearing. Haven't you worked that out yet?" She raised an eyebrow and rested her head on Skye's shoulder.
"I know I don't need to, but I have a reputation to uphold, Hun~" she teased lightly, adding on a wink for good measure. "I mean, I'd like you to be productive, but if I occupy your thoughts in my spare time, then...that's fine by me." She shuddered as Emily wrapped her arms around her waist, her hair very solidly pink now. She was used to this, but this was the first time Emily's fingers had found skin, and it sent little tingles up and down her spine.
"Oh, I have," she murmured, leaning her head against Emily's as her own hands wrapped around the other girl's waist. "I just like hearing you say it~" She teased, closing her eyes for a moment. Her eyes opened and the lights flashed purple as the words 'are or are not wearing' sunk in. She shook those thoughts aside for now, nuzzling against Emily as her eyes drifted back closed.

Emily was pretty glad that Skye couldn't read her emotions most of the time. Whenever she was with Skye she felt like she was going to say or do the wrong thing, reveal too much of herself and not be able to close that book once Skye had a peek. She was well aware she still had some issues to work through, and she didn't want to A: scare Skye off, or B: ruin their dynamic, because she loved it.
"Usually I do day dream of your cuteness, yes." She admitted, blushing as she did. Emily's fingers gently tapped on the bare waist. This was about as far as she was willing to go physically with another human being right now, she hoped Skye didn't hate her for it, somewhere deep down. For being so slow.
Emily's cheeks flushed further as she timidly replied. "Well in that case, unless it wasn't obvious you look beautiful today." She slid her cheek in next to Skye's and transitioned the embrace into more of a hug, and it totally wasn't partially because it let Emily hide her blush from her girlfriend, not at all.
Deep down, Skye was still broken from the failed relationship. She was worried she'd somehow manage to lose Emily too, or that Emily would one day decide she didn't want to be around Skye as much anymore; hey, something like that had already happened once. But...something about the embrace, the way the two of them made contact, Emily's skin against hers...something about all of that made the negativity melt away. She was in a good place. In Emily's arms, she was safe. And she didn't have to worry.
"Good. Because I daydream about you too," she murmured with a soft smile. Honestly, Skye was okay with them going as slow as they were. It was sweet, and she had no problem taking things at Emily's speed. Besides, after what happened with Mari, Skye was deep down, a little afraid of taking that next step.
"Thanks, Em," she whispered, kissing her cheek, just lost in the embrace.

Gah. Just about everything that Skye said to Emily made her blush. How had it gotten worse since they'd gotten into a relationship? Emily had been all confident when she asked Skye out, but now all of it seemed to just be melting away and only leaving a sheepishness behind.
Emily leaned against Skye, drifting a little sleepily as she often did when they were cuddling, and thought about what they could do. She didn't just want to do movies and bed. That sounded lame. Maybe some games or something? Perhaps Skye had something in mind. She didn't feel like she'd done something fun for a bit, and Skye was very conductive to fun.
She was the one to break the hug, but one hand remained on Skye's exposed waist, she liked the contact. "So what were you thinking we could do-" She glanced down. Was that a belly piercing? Had she always had that? Emily's gaze was quite clearly on that area.
Skye almost didn't want the hug to break. It was just so sweet, and she loved the contact. Emily made her giddy, happy, and just a little bit sheepish. God, that hand on her back made her shiver. It just felt so....warm and welcoming.
"Oh, yeah! I wanted to show you something," she said, and then noticed where Em was staring. Skye giggled, then adopted a teasing "My eyes are up here, Hun~" After a moment, she let a hand run through Emily's purple hair. "I've had that for awhile, but I just realized you've never actually seen it because I've normally dressed more....modest around you." she blushed lightly, then slightly pulled away from the grasp.
"So...I did something the other day. I think you might like it."
Her hands moved to the hem of her shirt, and began pulling it up, but then she turned around to finish pulling the hem of the shirt up, showing the tattoo on her shoulder blade: a rainbow in the shape of a heart, with the word 'Prism' in the center in black letters.

How had Emily never noticed that before? She guessed she'd never pulled up Skye's shirt or anything, but they spent so much time cuddling, it was a slight surprise that she'd not felt it before. She was still looking when Skye was speaking, and unconsciously reached out and gently touched it, before realising what she was doing and backing off.
Emily looked back up, closing her eyes and shivering pleasantly when Skye ran fingers through her hair. It was something she really liked, it was an affectionate and totally innocent gesture. "you should dress however you feel comfortable around me. I don't want to you to feel like you need to change things around me." She admitted, she'd been concerned about Skye going into another relationship when she was barely over one.
"Oh reall-" Emily froze. W-why was she peeling off her shirt? Emily's heartbeat practically doubled and she took a shaky step backwards.
She was so not ready for this. When Skye had all but peeled the top off Emily was about 4 paces back, her hands bracing her against the bed. Kinda frozen.
She smiled as Emily subconsciously reached out and touched the piercing; it was nice. "I know, it was part of my whole style change, honestly," she said with a shrug. "Though I might bring it back occasionally."
But after she showed the tattoo...the mood changed, and it wasn't for the better. Skye could tell something might've been wrong when she didn't hear any sort of reaction or comment. She turned around to see Emily against the bed, looking...well...freaked out. She pulled the shirt back down, turning to Emily as her hair and lights turned blue.
"I'm sorry. I thought you'd like the tattoo is all," she stammered, not knowing what to do. "Did I cross the line? Is it not a good look? Something else?" she asked, just standing there awkwardly. Should she go toward her girlfriend? Should she leave? What should she do?
So, she just stood frozen, her eyes dropping to the floor. "I'm sorry...I...should I go?"

Emily had spent months to years avoiding physical contact with people after her last relationship, and she'd settled into it comfortably. The only real exception had been hugging her dad, but that was very different for obvious reasons. And now here Skye was after what Emily had thought to be such a slow and nice start to a relationship pulling off her clothes in front of her. Emily wasn't even drunk. She'd figured if and when they got intimate, she'd need booze.
She picked up on the sadness and immediately felt worse than she had in a long time. She hated that her own problems and hangups could effect Skye.
"T-tattoo?" She dimly recalled a flash of colour on the shoulder, but everything had kind of started spinning and spiraling when Skye had made that motion. "I- Skye-" Was she hyper ventilating? Oh dear god, she must have looked like such a freak.
Emily sort of fell against the bed into a sitting position. "N-no, I'm sorry. Show me again. Please don't go." She pleaded mentally for Skye to stay. As awkward as this was, she didn't want her girlfriend to ever leave her feeling sad.
Skye felt her heart sinking as it raced a million miles a minute. She felt stupid; like she possibly just threw away what had been the greatest thing to happen to her in a long time.
"Yeah...I got a tattoo the other day," she said sheepishly. "I thought...." she sighed, wiping away a stray tear. "I thought you'd like it. I didn't mean..." Her eyes stayed glued to the floor, not making eye contact.
After a moment, she did look up at Emily, the blue light still pulsing from her hands. Slowly, she moved to sit next to Emily and gave her a quick peck on the cheek, nuzzling her. Then, she turned her back to Emily, pulling the shirt up again to show the tattoo.
"See? I really didn't mean anything by it. I just...don't have many other ways to show you," she said as she looked over her shoulder at her girlfriend.

How could she have been so stupid? Skye had been nothing but considerate about her timidness so far, why would she suddenly jump into something far ahead without asking Emily about it first? She was lame, and a moron, and stupid.
"I-" She paused, catching her very rapid breaths and slowing them down as best she could. "It's my fault." She murmured.
Emily was quite firmly grasping the bed sheets and looking quite determinedly at the floor when Skye sat next to her, the little kiss on her cheek did sent a flutter of elation through her. She didn't really look at Skye as Skye rolled up her shirt again and took a moment, and a steadying breath. "I'm so stupid." She murmured before turning to look at Skye's exposed back and shoulder.
A few shaky moments of quiet past and Emily smiled and softly reached out touch the image, running her fingers very gently across it. "I'm so sorry Skye. It's beautiful. It suits you." she paused before gently turning Skye's head and leaning in. "You are beautiful. Of course I approve." She planted a shaky, but eager kiss on her girlfriend.
"No, it's not. Just a misunderstanding, is all," she said softly. "I-it's fine. It's fine." Honestly she didn't know if it was fine or not, so she was talking to herself just as much as she was her girlfriend.
And then, she was there, again in front of Emily with her back turned and her shirt pulled up, and there was silence. Again. In front of her, the lights on her hands turned purple, and then pink as she felt fingers gently tracing along her shoulder, sending a shiver down her spine. "It's okay, Hun. And thanks," she said with a smile, turning her head at Emily's direction, leaning into her hand. "You're really too sweet," she murmured, then gasped a little as her girlfriend kissed her.
Skye's body twisted and moved so that she could fully face her girlfriend and be more comfortable in the kiss, her arms wrapping around her. In that moment, she forgot that her shirt had been rolled up, but she didn't think breaking the kiss to fix that would be such a good idea.
