The only thing Jude knew about karma was that it was supposed to be not nice, and a she.
”Fair game, huh?” There were some nose hairs Jude could see that he thought all of Chirpr and Speedigraph might also enjoy… instead he went for the verbal jab and got a lovely little reaction.
”I’ve never read a manga so I’ll have to take your word for it.” But now he was interested. Especially since Erik had. ”It’s not the first time I’ve seen a guy fall out of a tree, just the most entertaining instance.” Jude beamed up with his newfound knowledge. Alcohol was all it took? And then it struck him.
”Oh damn. We are still under age. Huh.” This was exactly the kind of thing Jude tended to forget. He squeaked and jerked away from a cat who suddenly stuck a chilly nose in his ear and decided he’d lounged in Zaid’s lap long enough. Only, getting up was a delicate thing when there was a cat hooked into his shirt who wanted to battle more than it wanted to be dislodged.
”When’s your birthday? Mine’s July. That’s when I’ll finally, actually be legal.” Like getting out of jail, that seemed worth celebrating.

Zaid blushed more. Stars, being teased like that made him every shade of pink he probably could go. ”To be fair, I have not been treed by any dogs since then. I just opted for safety and...failed. Then fell. And the rest is history.” he grinned sheepishly. He couldn’t stay upset because the teasing was actually pretty fun.
He helped Jude get into a seating position again, removing kittens where necessary. There were quite a few hanging around at this point, all wanting attention. Zaid made a note of the birthday and decided they would have to celebrate for sure. ”Mine is December 1st. A bit longer to wait sorry. But I can still definitely help you celebrate!” he decided. Nothing would stop him from being there for THAT.
It had been a long day, and they couldn't just sit on the ground forever. Suddenly faced with nine little hungry animals, Zaid figured it was time to stop joking around, and probably time to be more adult and relocate the little rascals.
Or, you know, open the door and see where they ended up. Eventually kittens found good homes, whether the mansion adults had a say in it or not.
After all, who would blame a bunny?
