Emily chuckled a little nervously. "I'll be honest, I don't really get all of that. Obviously I pick up on a lot of the attraction people feel for one another, but I'm not really attracted to many people myself, so the whole kink thing largely goes over my head." She admitted. Honestly, she thought that being demi made a lot of sense as an empath. When you had insight into what was going on inside people's heads, you were only very selectively attracted.

"Honestly, it was mostly people that knew me and it was largely a shift in the amount of attraction going my way." She shivered. "I suppose I've been in a class with most of them for over a year, and they sort of got used to one style, so when it shifted more of them payed attention to me?"

"Most people are highly superficial, you my dear are just a little more reasonable than most people I suppose." Emily swiped the rum for another quick swig. Now she was feeling the little giddy buzz that came from drinking. She'd gotten so used to just doing it for the numbing purpose, she'd forgotten how fun it could be to have a buzz around friends.

"Well it certainly sounds unique. And I care very little about how others look, as I'm sure you've picked up on by now." She admitted. She did find Alice to be a little cute, but that was probably because she actually liked Alice as a person, not that she'd admit any of that out loud.

"As long as the vibe isn't lame, I'm sure I'll be fine." Bars were a very mixed bag. She didn't like typical 'normal' bars, as they often tended to encourage depression and one night stands, which were not remotely fun to be around.

Huh, apparently enough people had noticed and suddenly had thoughts. Was she the weird one for not really taking it in or was it something to do with her own dealings with hair dying. Having to deal with blue hands and stained sinks kind of took the mystery out of the whole thing. Shrugging in response, "Still look the same to me! Shame it didn't do anything about your personality though," she added with a sarcastic grin.

"Well that's true, at least I was honest about wanting to sleep with you." It was odd to her how many repressed that side of themselves, as if ignoring something made it go away. Startlingly hypocritical of her given how she coped with emotions but that was different. There were no pretty girls in that side of her head. "Which is still on the table, by the way, if you and this mystery friend of yours fancy some fun."

Alice was totally just joking about that though. Kind of. A little. Just a smidge.

"Didn't think you were dear, I just got a shock the first time I was there and talking to a very pretty lady who responded in a deep bass voice. Was really not expecting that." Which was one way to put it. "But trust me the vibe will be great. It's one of those gay-bars where everyone is there to party and have fun."

"Anyway, we should probably head over, before it gets too packed. Hard getting in later on." Some nights at leas, she'd picked one of the quieter days rather than give Emily the full trail by fire that Obelisk could be. Wouldn't want to scare her off just yet.

Emily met Alice’s sarcastic grin with her own. “Oh, I’m sure the many people that actually know me will rejoice when scientists discover the cure for raging bitch.” She paused before adding. “Until then, you’re stuck with me like this.” She chirped, nudging playfully.

Emily quirked an eyebrow. “Were you now? I distinctly recall you only expressing that after I revealed my power to you.” She jabbed back. She was enjoying the sarcastic jibes until Alice made another suggestion. “I-Wha-Alice!” red was a pretty good colour on Emily, it just usually didn’t suit her cheeks.

Doing her best to shake the awkwardness she pressed on. “Ah. I see. That’s not a problem, as long as nobody relentlessly hits on me all night I think I’m good.” She admitted. “You I don’t mind so much, because you’re well aware you’re not getting anywhere.” Emily batted her eyelashes at Alice.

Just because she wasn’t into people in the same way that Alice was, or Skye for that matter, didn’t mean she couldn’t tease a friend that was clearly attracted to her. She was after all, a jerk.

“Yes, let's do that. Lead the way.” As Emily spoke she stepped up and looped an arm through Alice’s free one.

"You and me both dear. Although I will cut anyone who tried to vaccinate me against my bitchiness." Stick her with a needle? No thanks, especially to change who she was.

She had totally revealed being a lesbian right off the bat right? Maybe not how much she had been checking the girl out but it's not like she was hiding who she was. Or not trying to. Before she could dwell on it more she got to she how Emily reacted to something she was not expecting. Snorting out a laugh at how deeply she blushed, "Good to know I still have some tricks I can use. But don't worry I wouldn't want to come between you and your new beau. I do have some standards."

"Well, at least you're honest about my chances. Can't tell you how annoying it can be to get strung along. Again." Some girls like to play games. Alice didn't. Either say you were interested or not so you could move on to someone who might be. Or that you were straight. Because seriously was it so hard to say when another girl was flirting with you!?

It wasn't too fa r for them to get to Obelisk. A bus and a short metro journey dropped them pretty much at the front gates which were about as busy as Alice had expected. Which was to say, not very. There was even a kind of familiar face outside so there clearly wasn't going to be any fuss going in. "OK, so this should be easy. Bob's cool just don't be a prick and he'll let anyone through."

Bob was pretty tall, especially in his boots, which were a bit much for Alice but she had to admit he pulled of the black leather and heels pretty well. He was also in a pretty well fitting cocktail dress. Grinning as she approached and giving him a quick nod, "I see you're in something comfy tonight Bob, not expecting much trouble?"

Emily snorted. "Probably a good thing, your bitchiness makes up more than half of your likeable personality traits." She teased, she was of course joking. She actually loved who Alice was as a person, it was nice to have a friend she didn't need to disguise anything with. Their relationship was... Well it was pretty honest.

"I know you wouldn't." She muttered. It wasn't even like her and Skye had slept together. Well. They slept next to one another, but physical intimacy itself wasn't something that had been on the table yet, they'd barely even made out. That was mostly on Emily. That must have been why she react so strongly. Yup, that was it.

"One of the things about being Demi is it makes it a bit harder to do that. At least, because I'm an Empath. I'm not into people generally, and then knowing when they're into me makes it much easier to let them down easy." She admitted.

Although if she was being totally honest, Alice's chances hadn't been zero. That was, if Emily hadn't already met Skye. She definitely had the right personality to crack through Emily's hard shell.

Emily was glancing around the whole area with a little wonder after they arrived, being led by Alice's arm. She grinned sheepishly at the man in drag at the front door. She supposed he pulled it off well? She wasn't naturally opposed to anything like cross dressing, she did have a soft spot for Rocky horror. "Hi there."

"Awww that's probably the nicest thing you've said to me Em," she joke. It was true, clearly, but of course they were all made in good fun. Very British fun too since it consisted of barbs, bile and acid tongued remarks which was frankly he most fun friendship she had going for the time being.

Responding with a grin she let the matter lie. Best way to keep having fun with that knowledge was to use it sparingly.

"You know, you'd be surprised how damn useful that is, especially around people being interested in you. I wish I could count the number of times I have either missed flirting or been flirting with a girl who was clearly not interested. Or straight." Too many straight girls flirted with in her history, which in her defense wasn't exactly her fault when it was at a gay bar.

"Hey there Darlin's," the man drawled, giving them both a professional once over and nodding when he realised that sure, they were underage but they wouldn't cause trouble and weren't bringing anything dodgy in, "and you know me Downton, always dressed to impress."

Rolling her eyes at the nickname, she glanced past him and saw it was about as busy as she'd expected which meant easy to get drinks. "So I'm guessing it's not heaving given your fetching ensemble, you mind a couple of expats joining you lot?"
