In combat, he has developed a tactic where he projects a series of random emotions at his opponent in order to disorient them. Defensively, he projects intense fear in order to dissuade enemies from attacking. His powers are more effective the closer he is to a target, but had been displayed being able to sense emotions rooms away and can influence a group of twenty.
Weaknesses and Limitations: Franklin’s powers do have some serious drawbacks. If he is not careful, he can become overwhelmed by the emotions he senses and has been known to become commotose in severe cases. Franklin’s powers have absolutely no effect on true sociopaths or people with strong emotional controls. Telepaths have also been shown to be able to resist him.

History Of Your Character
Franklin was born to Irish immigrants in Illinois’ capitol of Springfield. He had a fairly normal upbringing that would only become extraordinary when he turned twelve years old. He would begin feeling overbearing waves of depression at night that eventually drive him to attempt to commit suicide by slitting his wrists. Luckily he had only cut his right wrist before he was discovered by his parents. As he was being wheeled out by paramedics, he would see his neighbor being taken out after having been successful in slitting her wrist. This would convince Franklin that it was her emotions that he was feeling and he was ashamed that he had done nothing to help her.
He would spend the weeks he was in the hospital attempting to hone his new gifts and would become adept at pinpointing where the emotions he sensed were coming from. On the day he returned home, he would cautiously inform his parents of his status as a mutant and would be amazed by the amount of support they showed him. They would spend the next six years helping him hone his powers while ensuring that he felt no different for being gifted while others were not. There support would help him discover that he should dedicate his life to ensuring that his fellow mutants be helped just like his parents helped him. He would go on to graduate from high school at the top of the class before attending the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. It was at this time that he would meet and marry his wife Nicole during his senior year. The two would welcome their first child a month after Franklin graduated with Bachelor Degrees in both Crime Control and Prevention and Criminology.
He would take these degrees to enter the Chicago police department and would work his way up to Sergeant before his mutant status was discovered. This would prompt animosity amongst his fellow officers. This would ultimately come to a head when he become involved in a physical altercation between him and a group of officers to jump him for being a “mutie”. Despite him not starting the fight, his captain would fire him while his attackers received no punishment at all. After months of failed appeals from his lawyer, Franklin would give up on the Chicago PD and instead applied for the NYPD’s Mutant Crime Unit. The Unit would quickly snatch up the veteran officer and he would move his wife and now two kids to New York to begin their new life.

“All points bulletin, be on the lookout for a dangerous looking mutie who just robbed Pop’s. Repeat there is an extremely dangerous freak on the loose.” the call over the radio brought Franklin’s attention from the paperwork in front of him. His fellow officers were being generalized again and now someone was going to be hurt. He would be out there trying to run interference if he wasn’t working late for the third night this week, reviewing every detail of the Organized Crime Division’s investigation of Raymond Scarpacci. Scarpacci would normally be to small to draw their attention but he had recently been attempting to break into the mafia by becoming the city’s supplier of MGH. His captain had assigned them the case out of fear of a bunch of super powered hoods on the street, while completely ignoring the innocent mutants being tortured to extract this drug. The only one who seemed to care was Franklin and he was no closer to being able to rescue his people and he felt he was failing yet again. He subconsciously rubbed the scar on his right wrist when yet another call over the radio drew his attention.
“We have the mutie cornered at the docks, the monster is at the docks. Send SWAT immediately. We need to take this freak down hard!”
Franklin couldn’t let another yet another innocent get executed by his fellow officers because of their genetics. Despite him driving at full speed and with the siren blaring, Franklin arrived after SWAT had arrived. He had to act fast if he was to save lives. He crossed the cordin as the gathered officers shouted such things as “Mutie attracts mutie”, “One freak, two freaks”, and “Going to a family reunion abomination?” Franklin ignored their jeers, and more importantly their negative emotions, as he reached out to sense the fear that emanated from the scared mutant. The fear grew more and more until it was nearly overwhelming as he made his way through the abandoned warehouse. The man’s terror was so thick that Franklin had to shield himself before entering the room.
His presence only scared the reptilian mutant even more and he was forced to duck in order to avoid the tail that came swinging at his head. “Whoa, Whoa. Calm down, I’m not here to hurt you.” Franklin said as he projected calming emotions.
“Your one of the cops of course you are!” shouted the mutant with a wave of anger that threatened to overwhelm Franklin.
It took him a seconds of focusing on calming emotions before Franklin was able to speak again peacefully again. “Yes I am a law enforcement officer, but I am not here to hurt you.” He doubled up on his projection of calming emotions before slowly pulled out his sidearm with two fingers before ejecting the click and moving the slide to empty the chamber. “See, I am just her to talk. There is no need for this to go down this way. We are just two mutants having a chat. My name is Franklin, what’s yours?”
“Ca-Ca-Carlos.” came his response.
Franklin smiled before slowly increased the calming sensations. “Nice to meet you Carlos. Are you a Chicago native?”
“N-N-No. I’m from New York, why does it matter?” a flash of anger came with the reponse.
Franklin hid a wince and soothed his own emotions before speaking. “I just want to get to know you. There aren’t many of us in Chi-town. I’m a transplant myself. What brings you this far west of the Big Apple?”
“I c-c-came here because a man offered to cure me of being a freak.” The truthfulness of his statement through Franklin off. “But instead he stuck me full of needles and drained me like a I was nothing.”
Did I just find one of mutants Scarpacci was using to produce his MGH?, thought Franklin a second before he felt the intense malice that signified an attack coming from the rooftop opposite the window. He acted without thinking and tackled Carlos a millisecond before a bullet flew through the window and into the wall opposite of where they were standing. He felt a wave of unrelenting hatred surrounding the building and realized this had to end now if there was to be no bloodshed.
“Carlos, those men out there want you dead. If you are going to get out of her alive, you are going to have to trust me. Can you do that?”
“I-I-I think so. Do I really have a choice?”
Franklin sighed and attempted to project a reassuring wave at Carlos. “Unfortunately, no. We are going to go downstairs and get into my car. You have my word I will do everything in my power to keep you safe. Together we will got the monster who hurt you.”
Minutes later, both men were walking through the gathered officers. Franklin emitted calming vibes as he physically shielded Carlos from the bigots that surrounded them. “You finally got yourself a date, freak?” “Look, the monsters are multiplying!” “Protecting your fellow abomination, Sergeant Mutie?”
Franklin had Carlos in the car before he rounded on them. “Listen you morons. This man is a victim and you will treat him with respect. If you can’t do that, then go work at the mall where you belong.” With that, he squealed his tires before taking off.
