The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

I’m feeling nervous Trying to be so perfect (Skye)
She blushed a little as she sort of rubbed the back of her head nervously. "Weeeellll.... let's say my arrival was kind of a surprise. It's a little complicated," she answered with a shy giggle.
"Oh, I said there's a good chance. Both parents are mutant, so what I know about genetics and probability state that it's likely. But even if not, that's still my cousin." Sure she wasn't a biologist, but it made sense to her.
She took her ball again, this time it went straight into the gutter. Shrugging, she went back to her seat as Allyssa explained her story.
"No money, or not on good terms....?" she asked, looking somewhat concerned. "If I'm prying too much, let me know."
Allyssa raised an eyebrow at Skye’s comment that her arrival at her aunt and uncle’s house had been a surprise. Well, that explained why Skye was sleeping on a pull out couch in the living room. ”Well, it seems like it went well,” Allyssa said. ”I would have been a nervous wreck doing something like that.”
Allyssa remembered Skye saying that her uncle was a mutant, that had been a large part of the awkwardness that had ensued that night together, but her aunt was a mutant, too? ”I knew there was a genetic or hereditary part of it, but I didn’t realize there would be so many mutants in one family,” Allyssa said slowly. It really was interesting, but biology and genetics weren’t her strength, chemistry was. Still, it was interesting.
And speaking of interesting, Skye’s form as she made her second shot was very interesting to Allyssa. Unfortunately, taking the shot didn’t take very long, though at least Allyssa was able to still watch Skye when she turned around. ”They decided to cut me off after I brought someone home at Thanksgiving. Apparently they are far more closed minded than I thought they were.”
Skye giggled. "Oh, I was...I'm sure Aunt Lee saw the purple light under the door and wondered what was about to happen," she answered, tucking her brown hair behind her ear.
"Well, in my family, Uncle Blaine and I are the only two. I think Aunt Lee's the only one in hers, too. So it's not exactly common, New York just seems to attract us," she joked.
But then the joking was over and Skye's face dropped. Oh...Oh....But I do understand closed mindedness...." she said with a sigh. "My mom," she said the word mom with a hiss, dripping from her voice as if it were a curse, Took to me being bisexual rather well...but she finds out I'm a mutant and loses what mind she had left...So I moved in with my Dad, but he had fallen on hard times...because of me. So, I moved out here to make a life of my own and take some of the pressure off of him, financially."
Allyssa nodded when Skye said that as fair as she knew, her aunt, uncle, and herself were the only ones in both families who were mutants. So it really wasn’t that many people, it just seemed like it was when all three of them lived in the same apartment. ”Well, New York seems to gather all kinds of people,” Allyssa said. And as far as she could tell it was true. There were all kinds of different and interesting people who went to her college, and none of them were the only ones who acted or looked like them. ”It does seem easier to fit in here, at any rate.”
Standing up to get her ball, Allyssa listened as Skye explained that her mother had handled the fact that she was bisexual much better than her being a mutant. ”As much as parents suck, I’m glad you ended up here. Otherwise I never would have gotten to see you in those incredible shorts.”
Shooting Skye a grin and a wink, Allyssa turned to the lane and rolled her ball, knocking down only three pins.

"That is true; I've met all types since coming here, and I haven't been here that long," she murmured. "Though I think it's so easy to fit in here because there's so many damn people," she said with a dry laugh. "Easy to find a group that suits you when every group imaginable is crammed into one city," she added, punctuated by another laugh.
"Well, my dad was great. Still is. He just wasn't sure how to handle my....gift. And my family....never was that good at talking or communication, so...while I knew he still loves me, it was still somewhat odd sometimes." Her face blushed so red it was almost as purple as her hair could be.
"You realize I hate those ****ing shorts," she said once her color returned to normal. "I don't like to show that much skin so soon, after all," she said with a sly grin, watching as only three pins fell.
Allyssa had to agree with Skye’s comment about how there were so many people in the city, so many different types of people, that it made it easy to fit in. At least Allyssa had met a number of people at school that made it feel like she fit in, in a couple different groups. Fit in so much better than she had back home.
And, even though they were still clearly getting to know each other, Allyssa felt like she and Skye were fitting together quite well, getting along wonderfully.
What she heard Skye say about her father, Allyssa was happy. ”My father was quite clear when he told me what he thought,” she said with a frown. Communication had been no problem there.
Allyssa had only knocked three pins down, and was turning to look at Skye again when she heard the woman speak. ”Well, they sure gave me a great view the night that we met,” she said, grinning, as she stepped closer to Skye, waiting for her ball to return. ”And you certainly didn’t seem to mind later.”

Skye nodded, reaching out to take Allyssa's hand in comfort. "That really blows..." she murmured. "You didn't deserve any of that. I may not have known you long, but I know that much. Hell, no one deserves that..."
She giggled softly as the subject changed to the uniform she'd had to wear when they met. "Maybe. But my point still stands. I don't like showing that much skin unless I plan on..." she winked. "Well, you know. At least what happened later was of my own free will, and not because my paycheck depended on it." She gave a sly grin; that was a rather fun evening, overall. She may have even found a videogame buddy in all of this, and that was always a plus.
Feeling Skye’s hand grabbing hers, Allyssa gave it a squeeze. ”Thanks,” she said simply. What else was there really for her to say to that? She hadn’t deserved how her parents had treated her, no one deserved to be treated like that.
Then Allyssa heard Skye’s giggle, and she grinned, giving the woman’s hand another squeeze. ”Well, I hope I get to see that much again, then,” she replied with a wink of her own before making her way to the ball return. They were supposed to be bowling, after all. So Allyssa grabbed her ball, turning to the lane once more. And only knocked down another two pins. Well that one didn’t go so well.
"Anytime," she said softly, releasing the hand after a moment. Then, she winked, a twinkle in her eye. "Play your cards right, and you might," she purred, smirking a little. Oh right. They were bowling, and as such...they needed to bowl.
Allyssa knocked down two pins. Not nearly as good as her first time, but Skye was still knocking some rust off herself. She grabbed her ball and made her way to the lane. She took form like she'd remembered, then released the ball.
It knocked down two. Great. She walked back to wait for her ball, taking the chance to look over her bowling partner with a smile. She really was fun to be around; she was really enjoying this, though she wasn't quite sure what to say. Her ball came back and she took her second shot.
Six fell. Much better. She was getting somewhat better at this, it seemed.
Allyssa smiled when Skye mentioned playing cards right. ”Oh, I think I’m a pretty good card player,” Allyssa said with a smirk over her shoulder. Though, that wasn’t something that she was really worried about. She’d already gotten Skye into bed, and now they were having a rather enjoyable date. No, really the only thing that Allyssa was worried about in that respect was whether they were going to be going back to Skye’s apartment, and risk having her aunt and uncle walk in on them again, or head to her place, where her roomates also lived.
As she stood and watched Skye bowl, Allyssa couldn’t help but notice two things: this frame, she had definitely bowled better, and once again Allyssa noticed Skye’s figure, hidden though it was under the hoodie she was wearing.
Allyssa then made her way over to Skye, near the ball return. ”So, what do you do in your spare time other than play video games?” she asked. They did have that in common, but was there more?

Skye winked. "Yeah, but the house always wins," she said coyly, giving her another wink.
Skye wasn't really a 'dater' but she had to admit, this was rather fun. Playing, talking, flirting, but nothing beyond that. At least not now. And then Allyssa asked her a question, and she thought for a moment. "Well, besides videogames, I like to watch MMA on occasion, but mostly just my Uncle Blaine's fights, and I enjoy reading..."
Her cheeks turned a bright pink at the mention of 'reading,' considering the nature of some of the books she'd read. "I also enjoy taking walks, maybe listening to music, on occasion." She shrugged lightly at the thought; that was pretty much it, for the most part. Though it was possible something else would come up.
Allyssa’s eyebrows rose when she heard Skye’s comment about the house winning. ”I guess I’ll just have to hope I’m lucky, then, won’t I?” Allyssa asked. Though, given how their last night together had gone, she was sure all it would really take was a few kisses and touches.
But that was for later, assuming everything continued to go well. For now, they were bowling and getting to know each other. Reading, walks, music, and of course video games all sounded like good things to Allyssa, those were all things that she enjoyed too. But there was one thing Skye said that she liked doing was quite surprising.
”Wait, you like watching MMA?” Allyssa questioned, truly surprised by that little revelation. She hadn’t pegged Skye for being interested in that. Then another little bit of information digested in her brain. ”Your uncle fights? I thought you said he couldn’t feel anything.”
"Good luck," she teased lightly, then her face twisted into a coy smirk. "Just remember, the house always wins." Oh, she was going to "win" alright. Though if she did, then technically they'd both win, but that wasn't the point.
Skye nodded. "Yeah. Uncle Blaine's mutation is actually what made him want to be a fighter; he told me he thought it'd put some use to his mutation. But he never made it big," she explained. "The night he was supposed to be signed, his opponent put him in a pretty nasty arm-lock. Snapped his arm in two. Uncle Blaine didn't even flinch, and even won the fight less than a minute later. But...well, the officials didn't take too kindly to a mutant fighting." She shrugged.
Skye seemed quite determined about the fact that the house always won. Though, even without that smile the other woman had on her face, Allyssa knew it would be mutually beneficial. And fun, definitely fun.
Allyssa listened as Skye talked about how her uncle’s mutation had caused him to become a fighter, and how it also lost him his big break. ”That’s a little ridiculous,” Allyssa said with a shake of her head. ”He can’t change that any more than I can change what I do to your powers.”
Shaking her head at that, Allyssa turned back to the ball return finally. They were supposed to be bowling. Yet, they kept seeming to be getting caught up talking. Though, Allyssa reasoned as she lifted her ball and got ready to roll it down the aisle, that could be viewed as a good thing. Generally, being able to talk together well on a first date was a good sign.
And then she let her ball go, rolling down the aisle, to knock down five pins. That was better.
Skye nodded in agreement; if not for Allyssa's power, Skye's hair would have been a deep shade of red while thinking about this. "Yeah, but he was a total badass. Still is," she said with a slight smile, giggling just a little. "Maybe I'll show you one of his fights one day. How squeamish are you?" she asked, looking over at her date.
Skye watched very closely as Allyssa took her next shot, though it took her awhile to see how many pins the other girl knocked over. Heh, yeah she wasn't thinking about bowling anymore, but...well this was pretty fun, yeah?
It was actually nice to just be able to have fun and talk to someone. To have a date; one that even though it may lead to the bedroom, didn't revolve around that like most of her romantic encounters tended to. It really gave Skye a lot to think about, to be honest.
