The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Just Me, My Sweetheart, and a Pair of Gloves (Blaine)
He didn't know why she hesitated, but it gave him the edge he needed to land the kick, but she was too quick for the initial takedown. However, as his head was down, he did see two tiny drops of blood hit the mat, and he figured that's what it was. But the blood didn't bother him; not his own, anyway. He was used to bleeding.
Since he was already hunkered down, he pushed his shoulder into her, using his body weight to take her down, and then he assumed a mounted position. Normally, this was where he would strike and end it, but....he paused. He didn't have the heart to hit her while she was down, even if he promised not to hold back. Even if she'd be fine with it. It just...wasn't his style. And to him it was unsportsmanlike, even though he'd used this combo on guys his size. Maybe it was just because she was his girlfriend.
Even still, he refused to let this opportunity go to waste. He hooked her right arm, then slid off of her with the intention of wrapping his legs around her arm, and stretching them across her chest, applying an armbar, though he wouldn't use full strength, just enough to get her to submit, if it worked in the first place. He wasn't used to his target having such small arms...
Lee had managed to keep her balance longer this time, but pushing Blaine’s head and punching him didn’t do anything to help. This would have been much easier against someone else, Lee knew, but then again, that was part of why she had wanted to spar with Blaine, to see what exactly it was she was able to do.
But, despite her strength, Lee didn’t have much weight to her, and especially when she was hopping to keep her balance on a single foot, it didn’t take a whole lot of effort for Blaine, using his shoulder to push her, to knock her over.
This time, however, Lee hit the floor harder this time. Before she was able to move or try to escape, Blaine was on top of her.
And he just sat there for a moment or two looking down at her. Taking advantage of this hesitation, Lee started punching Blaine in the midsection, though that didn’t last long as Blaine grabbed her arm and rolled off of her.
The moment that Lee felt Blaine’s weight coming off of her, Lee started trying to roll, move away from Blaine. But he had ahold of her arm. And then his legs were coming up, wrapping around her arm, across her chest. Not good. Bringing her other arm up, Lee grabbed Blaine’s ankle, holding it, pushing his leg, preventing him from fully closing the hold.
She wasn't done; she kept fighting even as he was attempting to lock on a submission, which given the size and weight difference, would be devastating. But...her determination was one thing he loved about her. That and her patience. After all, without those two qualities, nothing they'd done would have happened.
Though she was fighting the hold, and had her arm in the way, he still did his best to lock it in. So while he had the arm-lock applied, it would have been a little easier for her to escape. Maybe even find a way on top of him. Not that this was the only trick he had up his sleeve. He was enjoying this a lot more than he'd thought he would, and he was having less trouble giving his all.
Then, as he attempted to readjust his hold for a better grip, something clicked, maybe giving her an opportunity to escape, as his readjustment may have briefly loosened the hold a little too much.
Lee was fighting, desperately trying to find a way out of the hold Blaine had her in. And while she had managed to stop Blaine from fully getting her in the hold, Lee was still pretty stuck where she was. But Blaine was trying, fighting, too, trying to finish getting her into the arm lock.
And then he shifted, his grip loosened.
Lee pulled, even though his hands on her arm hurt as she did it, but she was able to pull her arm out of Blaine’s grip. From there, it was simple to get her arm untangled from his legs, and get those legs off her chest. Then Lee was moving, turning, straddling Blaine’s stomach, grabbing one of his wrists in each of her hands and holding them to the mat. Yes, he had mass over her, well, technically under her, but she had strength right then.
Leaning down slightly, Lee grinned at Blaine. ”You going to yield?” she asked quietly, though she thought she knew what the answer was going to be.
She managed to get out of the hold, but that wasn't surprising, considering where his mind went. It distracted him, and distractions were dangerous when in this line of work--even if it was just a friendly spar. And then...she was straddling his stomach asking him if he gave up.
A light smirk crawled across his face as he looked up at her. "Nah...But I've gotta admit...I'm loving the view from down here," he murmured.
Lifting his arms, he wrapped them around her, pulling her down closer to him, and then he rolled over so he was now the one on top, his arms protecting her head as he did so, which he wouldn't have done for anyone else. The maneuver was almost...suggestive. However, once he got to the mounted position, he quickly shifted, attempting to get her right leg in a similar hold.
Looking down at Blaine from where she was sitting, Lee couldn’t help but wonder if Blaine would be able to roll her off. She had the strength to hold his arms down from where her hands were gripping his wrists. But if he was able to move his body, well she really didn’t weigh that much compared to him.
And then Lee heard Blaine speak. Despite the fact that no one else would have been able to hear him, Lee blushed. That was...well, coming from Blaine, that was a very suggestive comment. And much better suited for later.
As she blushed, Lee’s grip on Blaine’s wrists must have slipped, because the next thing Lee knew, Blaine had his arms around her, pulling her down closer to him, before they were rolling and suddenly Lee found herself on her back, Blaine on top. Lee tried to keep the momentum going, to roll all the way back over. But her strength could only do so much in this situation, such a much larger body above her with so little leverage.
Then Blaine was moving again, and Lee tried to scoot away, using her now freed hands to push Blaine, toward her feet, trying to get his weight off of her so she was actually able to move.
What Lee didn't realize was that Blaine was going towards her feet. Well, one of her legs, anyway. So by pushing him, she was unknowingly giving him a little help. Then, he had his legs wrapped around her left one, his hands grabbing her foot as he pulled, cinching in the leg-lock.
He didn't give it full force, that could prove nasty, but he did give what he thought was an adequate amount of pressure. He just hoped that given the size difference, she wouldn't be able to slip out of this hold as easily as she'd been able to dodge the others.
Lee’s eyes widened when she realized what it was that Blaine was trying to do. But by that point, by the time Lee realized that, it was too late for Lee to get away. Not only that, she had helped Blaine get there, to get her into the leg lock.
But that didn’t stop Lee from trying to get away. And she tried to move one way at the exact same time that Blaine got her leg fully in the lock as he put pressure on it. And pulled in the opposite direction.
And Lee gasped as she felt a sharp pain in her ankle. Trying to relax, it at the least going back to the position she had been in before the pain, Lee hoped that would help. It didn't. The pain was still there, sharp and pulling, and Lee didn't know how to get out of this hold, at least not with it being Blaine. ”Ok, ok, I give,” Lee finally said, the pain and defeat colouring her voice.
As soon as she said the first 'okay,' his grip was loosening. Releasing the hold, he hopped to his feet, then walked over to her before leaning down and offering his hand to help her up.
"You okay?" he asked, but then added. "That was a hell of a fight. You did good, Babe," he said with a smile, sincerely acknowledging her skill. And it was the truth, after all. She'd made him alter his style on more than one occasion. And that made him feel that much more strongly about her.
Almost immediately, Blaine’s grip on her leg started to loosen. At least that helped with the pain, but only a bit. And then his weight was off of her, and he was up, turning around. Even after all this, the fight they’d just been through, Lee was surprised at how quick and lightly Blaine was able to move in the ring.
And then Blaine was offering his hand to help her up, and Lee gladly took it. That was a good thing since the moment she put weight on it the pain returned in full. So Lee stood there, her weight on her right foot only, still holding Blaine’s hand as he asked if she was alright. She shrugged slightly, but then blushed when Blaine complimented her on the fight they’d just had, and even more so when she heard him call her ‘babe’.
”My ankle’s hurting a bit, but you’re right, it was a good fight,” Lee said, the blush still on her face.
He smiled when she agreed that it was a good fight. He noticed her blush, and it made him smile even more, still holding onto her hand. "Your ankle should be okay after awhile. I did't hear a snap or anything like that," he murmured. "Still think I may have used a little too much torque on that one, though...sorry about that," he added, looking down at her.
"But...anyway, according to your rule...." He leaned down, wrapping his free arm around her and kissing her softly on the lips for a moment, before pulling back and smiling even more.
Lee shrugged when Blaine took the blame for her able hurting, then shook her head when he apologized, though there was a small smile on her face. ”I was trying to twist out of your grasp at the same time, so it was probably both of us,” Lee told him. ”But thanks.”
Next thing she knew, Blaine was wrapping his arm around her, just the one because the other hand was still holding her hand, and he was leaning down to kiss her. And so Lee wrapped her free arm around Blaine's neck as she returned the kiss. After Blaine pulled back from the kiss, Lee was smiling, too. But that smile faded to be replaced by another blush as she saw people out of the corner of her eyes. Glancing over quickly, Lee's blush deepened as she looked back at Blaine. ”We have an audience…”
He nodded, biting his lip a little as he looked at her. And then, he sort of froze, his face flushing a little as he caught sight of the people, and then he glanced at them briefly before turning back to Lee.
"Well...their show's over," he remarked, stepping out of the ring and holding the ropes so she could go through as well. And then, he grabbed his gym bag and walked back to her. "Well, I'm going to hit the shower, then I'll catch up with you after," he said sweetly before giving her another kiss on the cheek.
Then, he made his way to the locker room, showering and changing into his usual jeans, tight tee shirt, and leather jacket, tying his still damp hair back into a ponytail. Then he made his way to the usual spot to wait on her.
Blaine seemed about as embarrassed about having an audience as she was, judging by the colour that came to his cheeks. Then he went to the edge of the ring and stepped through the ropes before holding them for her. Limping slightly, her ankle still hurting, Lee made her way over to edge of the ring and carefully stepped through, squinting her eyes and wincing when she had all of her weight on her injured foot.
Then Blaine said he was going to go shower before kissing her cheek. ”Sounds good,” Lee said, giving Blaine a smile before he headed off to the change room. And Lee made her own way, much slower, to the womens’ change room. And, though her ankle was slowly feeling better, it still made showering more difficult than normal, and so took longer.
After her shower, Lee was starting to get changed when she realized that wearing heels right then was going to be difficult at the very least. With a frown, she dug into her bag, thankfully finding that she had a pair of sweatpants and her running shoes in there. Quickly changing and putting everything else back into her bag, Lee made her way out of the change room and over to Blaine, still limping slightly. And, though he had never seen her dressed down like this outside of the gym, well, there was always a first time for everything.
Blaine's embarrassment didn't come from the people watching the fight; that he was used to. It was the displays of affection, and that someone may have heard that suggestive comment that got to him. But once they'd went to shower, the people thankfully dispersed. He propped against the wall as he waited, noting she was taking longer than usual; normally, they got done around the same time.
And then, he saw her limping back, more dressed down than he'd ever seen her outside of the house or the gym. His face dropped a little, seeing her limp and figuring that may have been why she had to dress down. "Are you sure you're gonna be okay?" he asked. "You should at least get some ice on that..." his voice trailed off a little; wishing he'd have held back a little more--not that he held back all that much to begin with. She wanted him at his best, and she got it.
