Character
Personality: Will has a gruff exterior and is capable of taking command. He values respect, and his disposition demands it. He’s abrupt and polite, a “do it yourself” kind of guy.
Beneath the surface, he’s actually a bit of a clown-- an amicable guy, if not a bit of a jerk at times. Outside of his professional persona, he comes filter-free, incapable of sugar-coating, and a little crass. He’s an absolute flirt and has an ease with people.
He is very logical, can follow orders, and is relatively conservative… his Catholic upbringing has made him a little mutantist, but he doesn’t condone hate-crimes. (His biases manifest predominantly as micro-aggressions towards obvious mutants, but he actively tries to be better about it.)
Hobbies/ Interests: Cooking, crossstitch, sports, running, triathlons, rock-climbing, camping
Job or Description: Police Officer with NYPD
Fears/ Phobias/ Concerns: Dying on the job is a huge concern-- police mortality is high, particularly in the city, particularly in police-mutant altercations.
Special Talents: Fantastic chef, decent marksman and adept rock-climber. Rides motorcycles (*cough* Harley's are objectively the best. *cough*).
Morality
Neutral-Good: He’s a good guy overall, even if he can sometimes be a jerk. Invested in the greater good, ergo his choice in profession. Does what is right, but what’s right isn’t always what’s lawful.
Mutations
Mutation Description: Human.

Weaknesses and Limitations: N/A.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: Above-average strength, speed, and stamina. Average reflexes and flexibility. Human levels, obviously.
Fighting Style: Standard police-officer martial arts training. Boxing/grappling, aims to incapacitate target. Implement standard-issue tools (taser, gun, etc.) as needed but as a last-ditch effort.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: Can carry his own against untrained individuals, and aims for non-lethal intervention first. He’s not exactly a martial-arts master, however.
History Of Your Character
Will had a fairly standard upbringing. He was the second and youngest child, two years junior to an older sister. His family went to church every Sunday, he started playing sports when he started attending school, and was actively involved in Boy Scouts. They weren’t particularly close to their extended family, nor was he particularly close to his father (his father was verbally and physically abusive, but his mother wouldn’t divorce him).
Aside from frequently attending church, Will’s mom was also very close to a few visibly mutated individuals, so Will was exposed to mutants from a very young age. His father, however, was vehemently anti-mutant. As such, Will has a dual nature of being both accepting of mutants and slightly biased against them.
He’s always idealized public service positions (policemen, firemen, miltary-men), so it’s no surprise that he wound-up a police officer. Given his home’s rocky environment, he often protected his mother from his father (after he was big enough to do so). This may have propelled him to a position where he could protect other at-risk individuals.
In his adolescence, his parents divorced (when he was in 9th Grade), and Will charged through a rebellious phase-- he continued attending church, playing sports, and being involved in Boy Scouts-- but he also snuck-out, partied, drank, and got into all sorts of trouble. By his high school graduation, he straightened-out and managed to earn an A.A. degree at a local junior college before pursuing a career with the NYPD. He has since been involved in the police department as an officer.
He is currently attending college part-time in hopes of obtaining a Bachelors in Criminal Justice, hopefully (ultimately) propelling himself to the role of “detective”.

Sample RP:
Here he was again. Thirty-two years old. On the force for almost ten years. And, just now, walking back into college. Will felt old-- Hell, he looked old. Some of the young ladies that swarmed around him looked old enough to be his kid, if he had any. But here he was.
William Todd Devine, police officer with the NYPD, and part-time college student. Ugh. The doors to a cavernous lecture hall popped open, releasing torrents of students chattering about “how boring the first week of school always was” and “all it is is syllabus after syllabus after syllabus” bla, bla, bla. Will stepped forward, sensing a break in the crowd, but he misjudged the flow of students. A young woman, who was very pink from head-to-toe, walked smack into him. And adhered.
“ ‘scuse me,” he grunted, peeling the pink lady off of him. She was freed easily enough, though she made a wet peeling sound as Will freed her. A frown tugged at his features. It was like peeling bubblegum off of your shoe.
“No problem! Thanks!” the girl chirped. It must’ve happened to her a lot. She trotted away without missing a beat, leaving a very befuddled Will to find his way to his seat. He chose a seat in the front row, the far end, opposite of the door. Will set his bag down and, in the process of doing so, noted the pink stain left behind by the gelatinous young woman. He tugged at the heathered grey material, then groaned. It was one of his favorite shirts-- glumly he wondered if Tide would do the trick.
