The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I guess so," Amber answered. A pause in which she looked distinctly uncomfortable. "Um...sorry, I think." How exactly was one supposed to react when giving the bad news that your alternate universe self was a morose downer? How did one even get into these situations where that was a question that needed to be asked?
Manti's answers should have made her feel better. A cousin or a sister from another world was much more relieving than another her from another world. Having an actual blood relative might actually be pretty cool given that she was adopted in this world and had never known her blood relatives. She couldn't quite eliminate that little voice in the back of her mind, however, that hinted that there might be something more to this. "I've always kind of wanted a sister. I mean, a blood sister. Aura, my adopted sister, is wonderful but she's the only family I have now." Once she'd had an adopted father and a house full of clone uncles but she had no idea where any of them had gone. It still made her sad.
"He could be." She empathized with what he must be feeling at the prospect of another him assuming his life. "It might be possible to go back there. You know, back through the rift and maybe find him." The thought, though definitely fear-inducing, also had a certain amount of intrigue to it. Did she want to go back to that strange place? As much as she wanted to say 'no' a part of her kind of wanted to say 'yes'.

"Eh, no problem," said Manti, not bothered by the apparent personality of his otherworldly counterpart. If there was one extra reality, there could be thousands, and thousands of alternates, they all couldn't be lucky enough to be him. Amber's words made him think though. He and his counterpart... technically they were related by blood, seeing as it was the same blood. In a strange way, that made them... sort of like brothers. True they lacked any bond, but it was no more different then twins meeting after a separation at birth. Even if they didn't have the same personality, they had the same parents... at least it seemed likely, and they likely had some of the same interests or thought processes. So why was he so down? He wanted to meet him, at least to find that out. How different were their lives? Maybe he could help himself out.
Manti thought back at what he knew, was 'Leon' back in his world. Derek had said he had disappeared during camping, while Amber said the rift was in the city. It didn't seem likely given those points that he would have made it all the way over there. So was he just lost in the woods? "Hmmm, I think I'll stick around a little while longer, just in case." he said. If the rift was there, we was confident he could get back, but he did want to take advantage of this.

Amber hadn't thought about the prospect of their being many numerous alternate Ambers existing across numerous multiple realities which was, perhaps, not surprising given that she'd never thought about the prospect of even one other Amber running around an alternate reality. Perhaps one day she'd be able meet the other her and find out just what her life could have been like if things had gone left instead of right. Despite her misgivings about the prospect, it was hard to deny the thread of curiosity. Perhaps, if for no other reason, satisfying her curiosity might be a reason to go back to the other world. Maybe.
"You don't miss home?" she asked, mildly surprised at his decision to remain. "I guess you wouldn't since you've only just found out that this isn't 'home'. Are you enjoying your time here?" Probably a dumb question but she'd never really mastered the art of small talk; probably more accurate to say she barely had a grasp of the basics. Idly, given Manti's rather impressive set of teeth and other natural weapons, she wondered how proficient of a hunter he was. Now hunting, that was a skill she'd mastered.

Manti missed his home of course, but his curiosity and confidence offset the urge to go running home strait away, but he couldn't help but find Ambers question hilarious when she asked how he was enjoying his stay, like this was a vacation. He chuckled loudly, exposing his extra rows of teeth, "Well, room service could be better," he said in a joking tone. It was easy to tell he was the type to find amusement wherever he could, and showed little if any hesitations in himself. Despite his imposing figure, he didn't give off any predatory body signals, rather he seemed just a guy in a really big body. Manti lacked any feral instincts, despite having over his fair share of animal traits. True he could be a force to be reckoned with if you got him angry, but generally this was rare considering his more sociable tendencies. "So what do you do for fun around here?" he asked, wondering if there was anything that he wouldn't find in his own world.

"Room service?" she asked, visibly confused by the reference. Determining what was meant as humour and what was meant to be taken seriously was something she still had a lot of room to improve. Did the Mansion have room service? Or did he live somewhere that did? If the room service was a problem, why didn't he just move somewhere in which it was better. For that matter, was room service something strictly necessary? Manti looked like the type to be well capable of catching his own food, should he desire to do so. Then again, in her experience even mutants with powers that should make hunting easy often chose not to hunt. There were many advantages to consuming human food, after all.
"I'm not really sure my idea of fun matches with what most people call fun." Drinking, dancing and partying all seemed to be favourite past times with an appeal she just didn't get. She'd never even consumed alcohol and wasn't certain they'd let her into a club given her lack of ID. Maybe that was something Gemma could help her with. "I like to hunt and when I'm a dinosaur I like to sunbathe, but that's hard to do in the city." And impossible when she was human. "What do you like to do for fun?"

Manti could see the confused expression at his joke about room service on Amber's face. He was generally good at reading people due to the number of friends he hung around with, including a few with non-human features. Amber seemed the type that had a hard time with humor, which seemed to be confirmed with her comment on hunting. It made sense if she was a feral, that is, a mutant with instincts, he knew a few who had issues with that, and Amber was probably no acception. "Don't worry about, just a joke," he reassured her so she didn't overthink it. "So your a feral then?" he questioned, "I know a few, nice crowd but have a few problems of their own when it comes to instincts. There's a half deer guy who tends to zone out when confronted with headlights." he said. He didn't know if she would see the humor in that, but she could at least emphasize with those sort of issues.
"Me? I'm a bike guy myself, work in a shop fixing engines and doing body work. Built my own bike from scratch," he said proudly. He would gladly brag about his love of vehicles and the work he did. It had been a blow when his shop had seemed to disappear, but at least now he knew it was still waiting for him back home.
