The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Ignacio was having one of those moments where his powers wanted to act up. He had gone into his Tollan form minutes earlier to be a bit of a show off for the group of friends he was in and things had gone wrong.
His day started out as normally as it usually did for Ignacio: A three mile run at sunrise, breakfast at the Mansion, playing soccer on the lawn with a couple of his friends, and playing a couple of hours of video games in the game room. However, instead of playing soccer, his friends and himself decided to mess around with their powers.
"Iggy, should we get someone?" One of his friends asked.
"What? No! I got it under control!" The teenage sun god lied. He opened his hands and a sudden burst of colorful light spewed out causing Iggy to hold his hands back together. The group of friends that had gathered around took a step back.
"I'm getting a teacher," one said before taking off toward the pool where she knew Professor Shinbo was, "before it gets out of hand!"
His burning orange eyes and now black -- literally black skin -- kept on absorbing the solar energy that was being fed to him. If he couldn't get himself back to normal, then this was going to be bad.
The colorful flames that arose from his body only got taller and more bright. Orange, light green, yellow, and red light whipped around him as he fell to his knees.

"Professor Shinbo, professor Shinbo!"
The Asian glanced up from where he was sun-bathing. There weren't any classes at the moment, and he was using his free time to enjoy the sun. Until a female student burst in upon him and jumped around in his vision grid. It was still weird, being called professor. It took him a moment to realize he was the professor in the scenario.
"Hello, yes?" The Asian goggled at the girl as she hopped back and forth on her feet.
"Iggy is ON FIRE," she exclaimed, then after a moment, clarified. "More than usual, even!"
"Well then." Shin said breezily, brushing himself off and getting to his feet. He snagged the towel he'd been bathing on, and started buttoning up his white over shirt. His loud swimming trunks had a pineapple and palm tree theme. "Someone should really douse him with an extinguisher, shouldn't they?"
She frowned at him.
"Well, lead the way," Shin stated.
A few minutes later, they rushed onto the scene. A bucket of water splashed on the fire mutant. How good of the mansion pool for having a bucket for just such occasions. Running with it, he'd lost some due to splashing, but hopefully, he had enough.
Ignacio was trying to figure out a way for him to deal with his power on his own but found that it was harder than expected. He then turned his attention to professor Shinbo who has brought by Laura.
"I told you I could handle i--!" Iggy turned his face away when the professor tossed the bucket of water on him. That did nothing. "Professor!" His head snapped back to look at the X-Man that was to the side of him. Because his form was fueled by solar energy and not fire and or heat, the water had no effect. Ignacio took in deep breaths to try and get himself under control, but that barely worked. The solar flares that radiated off of his blackened body only grew more fierce.
"What do I do?!" Iggy asked the math and Japanese professor with eyes that had tints of fear in them.

The Asian's eyes had no tint of fear in them. They did have nice little triangular pupils, however, that could register the height of the flames, amongst other lil details. They were black.
That hadn't worked. Damn.
"Well, usually i would use my power and cut you off from oxygen, or whatever fuels your flames, but today... today, unfortunately, I don't have that ability." Shin frowned. "So I'll ask you. What fuels your power? Maybe if I know more, we can figure out a solution that doesn't involve accidentally lighting the biology teacher on fire. Kidding, of course. Keep a positive outlook. You'll be fine."
He had been kidding, kind of. But not fully. He was kind of stumped. Xavia would probably be more familiar with this kid and his mutation, or mutations in general, being a science teacher and all that. Unfortunately, she wasn't here, and was also inflammable. And that isn't a good thing to be, while around flames.
"Maybe stand up? Calm down? If emotions tie to powers, maybe showing off had something to do with getting you ignited?" It was a stupid suggestion, really, but hey! He was trying. At least the lawn hadn't caught fire! This could have been a whole lot worse! He'd heard of one fire person, Kate, who'd burned her bedroom down. This was still mainly focused on him.
Iggy's mouth dropped open exposing nothing but orange. The last thing he wanted to do was accidentally set anyone on fire especially someone who was basically a tree. With another breath, he looked up at Professor Shinbo and started to explain where his source of power came from, "E-El Sol!" Ignacio looked up at the Sun, then back down. Unfortunately, there wasn't a cloud in sight. If anything, his was embarrassing to Iggy. Now all of his friends would think that he was unstable and stop hanging out with him.
"O-Okay," He slowly stood up from the ground and tried even harder to get his flares under control. Ignacio closed his eyes and tried to control himself, but it was hard with all the eyes being laid on him. How else was he supposed to do that? "I'm trying!"

El sol. El sol. He didn't really speak Spanish, but a memory of a video game about slaying vampires with the power of the sun reminded him of the fact that sol means sun. That allowed him to connect the dots. Sun meant sol. This man's power was connected to the sun. He was solar-powered.
Dang. How would they shut off the sun?
He was giving off heat. "Maybe if we went inside, and got you out of the sun?" Shin asked. Not into the mansion, not exactly. That was a great way to burn the entire school down. But there was a groundskeeper's shed, and another by the pool. And there was the mansion garage. Though if gas were anywhere in there, that would be less than ideal... The Asian looked to Iggy and his friends. "Let's get him into the groundskeeper's shed. Can you handle walking?" He asked the man himself.
Iggy nodded his head, "y-yeah! I can walk!" The teenager took a couple of steps forward cautiously before he found that he was okay enough to walk forward. After the first couple of feet, Ignacio found himself more comfortable. He was happy that Professor Shinbo was able to help with his little melt down. He still felt embarrassed with the scene he caused in front of his friends. Though, he was relieved when they gave him words of encouragement.
Once they made it to the groundskeeper's shed, Ignacio nervously ushered himself inside. It was a pretty good size so at least Iggy didn't feel claustrophobic. "I-I got it," he took hold of the door and closed it behind him. The shed was lit by the flares that surfaced around Iggy's Tollan form. He closed his eyes and concentrated on turning it off.
"Come on, come on..." Thankfully for Iggy, he could feel himself slowly change back into his "normal" self. This in itself was a relief. After a few more seconds, Ignacio's Tollan form was completely gone, he slowly walked out of the shed. The only thing that remained mutated was his kaleidoscope irises. God, he was so embarrassed. The hug he received from two of his friends made him feel a lot better.
"Thank you, chicas," Ignacio whispered before pulling away and looking at the Professor. "I'm sorry for wasting your time, Professor Shinbo."

It was a long shot. Fighting fire with walking into enclosed flammable places seemed kind of silly to him, in retrospect. At the very least, there would be less air to fuel the flames... but if his power were solar powered, it stood to reason that taking away the sun might resolve issues, at least in theory. Iffy, but Iggy was amenable to the idea. So there they were.
Standing there outside the shed, Shin felt a little out of sorts. Is it irony, a man trying to help a mutant sort out mutation problems when he himself had a history of being unable to resolve his own? Hypocritical, perhaps. Irony is something many people get wrong. Too complicated to hash out here. True irony, he decided, would be him resolving a mutation issue at all. Nobody would really expect that. Though, in his job as a mansion teacher, it kind of came with the title... they'd really been gracious, giving him the chance. That, or desperate.
He glanced at his Mickey Mouse watch. Slowly, the cartoon rodent counted time. Light crept through cracks in the wood. It was a wooden shed, not the corporate corrugated steel of a Home Depot purchase. Someone had gone to a lot of trouble building this shed. What was his name? Shmogan? Logan? Or maybe it had been something Frenchier. Last name, Lebeau? Maybe he was mistaken and making up a story to keep himself from growing bored? Either way, the wood looked hand cut, and maybe a little dry. Good tinder. Heh. He needed to stop second guessing himself.
Slowly, miraculously, the light escaping through gaps in the wood dulled, then died. Shin let out a breath of relief as Iggy stepped out, and hugged his amigos. Or if they were predominately females, amigas. Again, he didn't speak Spanish. All he knew, he got from pop culture and Mexican menus. Muchas gracias for that.
Iggy turned to him, and surprisingly enough, apologized. Had Shin come off that grumpy and professorly sour about his time? Professorly isn't even a word!
"Hey now. Don't go selling yourself short like that. It wasn't a waste. I'm here to help, as much as I am to teach. I'm just glad we figured out a solution that worked. You've got an interesting mutation. I wonder if moon beams work the same as sunbeams. Solar is solar, after all." He stopped himself before he got too methodical and curious. That was always a risk for "professor" Shin. He liked to work out the math behind the variables and dig into the inner depths of how things worked.
"How long have you had this power, if you don't mind me asking?" Shin said.
>> "Hey now. Don't go selling yourself short like that. It wasn't a waste. I'm here to help, as much as I am to teach. I'm just glad we figured out a solution that worked. You've got an interesting mutation. I wonder if moon beams work the same as sunbeams. Solar is solar, after all."
Ignacio smiled some and rubbed the back of his neck in mild embarrassment. "Uh, I think it has to be direct sunlight. I've never tried absorbing energy from the moon." Iggy was about to ask something when a reminder was made. Juliette had mentioned talking to Shinbo about becoming part of the X-Men Trainee, but after his little incident...
>> "How long have you had this power, if you don't mind me asking?"
"...A few years," Iggy answered, "three, actually. You'd think I would have better control over my powers."

Moonbeams were no go. Okay. Further experimentation required?
Shin smiled at the man's comment. "Three years isn't much. I was still learning all sorts of new things six years after my mutation activated." He said.
Then you took in growths and changes, and you trained and got stronger, and eventually, you were flying around.
"I wonder in the danger room can replicate moon beams..." Shin held his chin in thought.
Iggy didn't know if his question about the replication of moon beams via Danger Room was for him to answer so instead he decided to stand there and look pretty. Though, the bit of information about him still figuring out his powers made Ignacio feel a little better about himself. Maybe he should ask him if he could become an X-Men Trainee.
After his friends made sure that Iggy was alright, they left to go back inside to cool off from the heat. The Summer Sun never bothered Iggy much. If anything, it felt like a warm, comforting blanket.
He mustered up enough courage to ask Professor Shinbo the question, "Hm, Juliette -- I want to become an X-Men Trainee and...Juliette suggested that I come to you for that since you're a team leader." Ignacio nervously stood there waiting for a response. The seventeen-year-old hoped that he would allow him to do this. Iggy knew that becoming an X-Men Trainee would cost a lot of his time so anything that he had to get rid of, the teen was willing to do just that.

At first, Shin glanced over his shoulder because he thought Juliette was behind him. Then, he realized that Iggy was just mentioning her, and he felt like a bit of a fool. Iggy was nervous. And, he wanted to be a trainee.
It had been a long while since Shin had brought in a new trainee. It had been a while since he'd taken anyone through a tryout, or a trial in the Danger Room. Not since Koga, really. He had no qualms about it. The guy seemed nice enough. The real question, though, was how well he handled pressure.
Shin wasn't quite sure if there were tryouts involved for trainees, now, or what had changed. He felt like that was really more for X-men. Trainees just needed a sponsor. Though if the man wanted to do a Danger Room scenario... he could fit it into his schedule. Training never hurt.
"Yeah, I can sponsor you." Shin nodded. He smiled at Iggy. "No problem. I could even run you through a Danger Room scenario later, if you were interested. Let you practice your powers even more. I forget if the DR session is part of becoming a trainee... but practice never hurts. I could find some time tonight." Or tomorrow. Whenever.
Perhaps, they could even see if the danger room could replicate the moon?
The silence was killing him, honestly. Nervous Iggy was about to say never mind and walk away when Professor Shinbo responded,
>> "Yeah, I can sponsor you."
He...would? Iggy's smile brightened greatly.
>> "No problem. I could even run you through a Danger Room scenario later, if you were interested. Let you practice your powers even more. I forget if the DR session is part of becoming a trainee... but practice never hurts. I could find some time tonight."
"¡Aye, muchas gracias!, Professor Shinbo! I cannot tell you how much this means to me!" Being an X-Men Trainee would definitely distract himself from the guilt he felt for killing his parents. He felt the need to hug Professor Shinbo and did so. Ignacio happily bounced up and down before letting go. "Sorry, sorry. Tonight would be perfecto!"
After he calmed down a bit, Iggy asked, "what time?"

Shin suggested Iggy meet him by his office around Five, after classes.
They wrapped the conversation up, and Shin went off to get dressed and prepare for some teaching and grading now that the student on fire issue was resolved. He made sure to call his wife and let her know he was staying late to help train a student at the mansion and that she he would bring home food when he came back. Something good. And ice cream.
At five minutes before five o clock, Shin tucked his paperwork away into a desk drawer and checked his Mickey Mouse watch. He waited for Iggy, then took them to the Danger Room downstairs.
It was secluded, an elevator shaft away front the rest of the mansion and separated by a big steel door. The room itself was large, but sterile looking. If one didn't know better, they'd think it was boring and empty. Really, it was a blank slate. Which really is exciting, if you're into potential.
Shin turned with a flourish and presented the Danger Room.
After the meeting with Professor Shinbo, Ignacio was more even more excited about being an X-Men Trainee, then eventually an X-Men. He already had a costume that he wanted to wear. Of course something Aztec centric -- Juliette would most likely approve. Hopefully.
He met his Sponser by his classroom and followed Shinbo into the danger room. Iggy decided that it would be best not to mention is "snowball fight" with Aiden a few days earlier. That might've ruined his high chances of officially becoming an Trainee.
Luckily, he was a pretty good actor.
"Woah..." Iggy awed in false amazement. His kaidescope eyes scanned over the white voidness that was the Danger Room. "So, what do you want me to do, Professor Shinbo? I need direct Sunlight to activate my Tollan form."
