The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It had been the biggest thing on MyFace for weeks, a total supermoon eclipse visible from New York City! An event was thrown together, the “Flatiron Plaza Lunar Eclipse Food Festival.” Thousands had checked they would be attending and the food trucks had come out in force to feed them all. They were serving everything from the Vegetarian Delight Truck’s “Grilled Carrots” in honor of the rabbit who’s making mochi on the moon to assorted cheeses to MoonPies.
Madison Square Park was covered in people who had come out to observe the eclipse. It wasn’t every day, or even every decade you had the chance to see a total lunar eclipse, let alone one of a supermoon!
It should have been a joyous time for the city to come together and bond over their viewing of the rare celestial event. And it was, for a while. After the total eclipse was achieved a series of strong winds blew through the park. Gusting hard enough that people had to lean against it. Eventually a blast of air like from a large airburst explosive buffeted the park. People, carts, dogs, and pedicabs were thrown by the powerful wave-front.
At the epicenter of the blast of wind a hole in the universe shifted as if blown by a light breeze. Sirens circled as emergency responders headed to the scene.
The rip is here!
Characters who are within a block of the rip can be sucked through to the opposite universe. This is true for both MRO and AV universes. If you would like to have a character sent through the rip or show up in the aftermath go ahead and post here! Once you post you can edit the post to link us to the antics that follow in whatever thread you begin as a follow up (Please only one post per character). Maybe you go off and do a solo, maybe you find someone to double dutch with, or maybe you surprise us all and do something even wilder!
We know you’ve been excited for this day to come. Well here it is! We can’t wait to see what shenanery y’all have planned for this moment!
The event was dreadfully common. A bunch of plebian sheep flocking to Madison Square Park to stuff their faces with food as they ooed and awed up at the big crimsoned show in the sky. It was ghastly, all the people scurrying from food truck to food truck while dancing awkwardly to various electronic and folks songs blaring from personal speakers or those overhead.
It would have been a total snore if not for those serfing against the tide, offering bits and pieces that brought new dimensions of light and sensation. They cried at the dancing shadows. They rubbed upon one another with sickening frenzy. They laughed and giggled and laughed when sober friends asked what lunar tide they were riding. Who knew anymore, who cared?
Devon could only stomach their insufferable ignorance for so long. Their willingness to give up to the event was entertaining, but the ongoing willful acceptance of the shifting time distortions and bizarre weather made it all the more maddening. It was hard to sleep, let alone have a good time when reality seemed to be a buzz and shifting. Was the food, the drugs, the party that much of a distraction for them?
That was a sobering thought.
There it was again. Strange breezes that were born from nothing. Black eyes watched them swirl and shift and grow stronger. He urged them to quiet but it was too much, too fast. People struggled against it. Trash cans flew through the air. People laughed and screamed. Lights flickered. Dogs barked and cats rained from balconies overhead. All was insanity and then a popped cork of quiet.
The trash on the ground skittered along as Devon groaned, standing from the courtyard patio garden he found himself in. He heard the sirens calling, but did not answer. Enough was enough. These people would cry now and dance later; whatever it took to get them through the day.
Devon swore again, eager to forget what his annoyance had led to in reflection.
Aura cared little abut space. No she knew a gathering like this, but large numbers of people meant mutants and if something this size turned bad, Aura wanted to help her follow sapient beings. This also meant sacrifices, Aura was bumping into people in the crowd and she felt her skin get goosebumps every time someone brushed her unprotected flesh. She also let loose mumbled Japanese swear words. Mentally she tried to convince herself they were just non visible mutants.
Things seemed calm and Aura was even starting to relax. Then the 9 gods tore the world asunder. Without thought her Aura covered her skin, it weathered the wind blast. Aura however just stood there reciting prayers she left in the graves she had dug so long ago. She smiled and closed her eyes. The Lord of souls was calling her home. She reached out toward the wind just as the air blast went off. Aura felt herself go airborne, she did not resists, instead she let fate take her.
Aura landed and opened her eyes climbing to her feet, she barely recalled her aura was on until a man brushed up against her and made a rather lewd comment. Aura's aura formed a blade at her knee and quickly gutted the man, her elbow separated the man at the neck. Some who saw her screamed but in the panic but the crowd mostly ignored them to caught up in fleeing."Well no T rex anyway" she muttered as she wound her way through the crowd trying to blend in as well as she could shrouded in pink.
Aura heard the sirens and swore, she wanted to stay and protect mutants who might need it in this mess but cops meant metabots and maybe an adapted. Swearing once more Aura made for an alleyway, she needed to make a safe distance where she could help and not be in the direct line of fire.
Aura wondered if a mutant had caused the blast, she had not seen anyone but with the crowd that was no real surprise to her. Taking out her cellphone she made a call. "Pick up Hades" she said impatiently.

Mage
Amber wasn't usually much for celebrations. For one thing, most of them tended to happen during the day and that presented certain challenges due to her sensitive skin. For another, they tended to come with throngs of people which made her uncomfortable in the best of times. Still, this celebration was unique because it took place at night and a lunar eclipse sounded fascinating. Besides, wasn't she trying to reintegrate into human society? Didn't that mean she should try to get used to crowds?
Staying mostly on the outskirts of the crowd, she remained mostly covered by her usual array of veils, mostly hiding the fact that she was a mutant. If asked, tentatively, she might have even said that she was enjoying herself. For once, she wasn't stressing about being a walking corpse and no one seemed interested in harassing her due to her mere presence. There was so much interesting food and, as it turned out, even humans could be interesting to watch when they weren't being troublesome. She even spotted a few other more visible mutants and that was nice to see.
Then everything suddenly went from nice to almost apocalyptic. Winds picked up and objects began flying through the air. All around her, people were screaming and running in panic. She felt something hard strike her arm and she hissed in pain. Maybe changing shapes wasn't the smartest thing to do, given the public nature of the festival and the thousands of humans all in one area, but it was the best and only defense mechanism she had. Ducking behind a nearby bench, she came out a deninonychus. It's enhanced senses did not make the situation seem better.
Almost as soon as she emerged, now fully transformed, a mighty gust of wind picked her up and sent her careening forward. After what seemed like minutes but was probably only seconds in truth, she struck the ground hard. Tenderly, she got back to her feet. Sirens could be heard in the background. In retrospect, maybe being a dinosaur in a sea of panic wasn't the best idea she'd ever had, but there she was. Perhaps it was time to run somewhere and change into something a little less conspicuous.
