The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Well, after a discussion with the mods and some consideration, the idea of a new mutant within the forums has come up. Due to the current storyline, the new group would be able to flow smoothly and make a heck of a lot of sense to the game...
The idea basically is this:
Slightly before the breakout from the camps (which at this point seems inevitable), a guard at the camps named Gwendolyn has concocted an idea that could help mantain peace and order between humans and mutants, and has come into contact with the mutant Glare. Glare actually contacted her about his fiancee Severity, and Gwen promised to help if Glare would help her move along her idea. She plans to form a group of mutants that is basically sponsored by the government and helps along the government's ideals in the coexistance of mutants and humans. So basically, she wants to form a new group that is funded, aided, approved of, and to a degree controlled by, the government.
She uses Glare because she figures he has nothing to lose, something to gain, and seems trustworthy enough. Plus she has convinient contact with him. The truth in the whole matter is that it is not truly run by the government! Gwen herself is the real perpetrator and commander overall of the group, but Glare doesn't know this. He (and everyone else below him) truly believes they are at the government's beck and call... in exchange for pay, resources, acceptance, and recognition.
The bonus of being a part of the organization is that it is very prestigious. Although the real government does know of this group existance, they let it slide because the group seems good enough and is actually helping their cause (it seems Gwen and the governments cause is typically the same). The group will be funded by Sebastian, who was contacted by Gwen about the funding and is anxious to help the cause of this group because it would promote coexistance.
The members of the faction will have ranks within it, and there will be several NPC characters that represent humans within the group. (similiar to the DocProf)
-----
The group will officially be called PACEM, (Peaceful Army for Co-Existence with Mutants) unless someone else came come up with a better title.
If you interested please post here and make suggestion, comments, etc. The group will begin soon, maybe even before the camps are liberated.
You may ask... why would my character want to work for the government? There are plenty of reasons, some of which I mentioned above.
The members are respected by their community, and the world in general, they are actually paid for their services to the government, they are given full authority in all matters relating to coexistance, they are given the oppurtunity to rise in the ranks and gain even more prestige, they will have their own base of operations which will be quite spiffy... etc.
So let me know what you all think, and if you think one of your characters would be interested in joining up.
BTW, Gwen will be played by Calley, who will come up with some of the missions given to PACEM...
In time there is a possibility of the group becoming strong enough to be a signifigant faction within the mutant community, but that is likely a little ways away.
Current PACEM members:[/b]
Gwendolyn - NPC, Undercover, Creator Sebastian - PC, Undercover, Funder Glare - PC, Current Leader
A very interesting idea. I do plan on"eventually" having my character Sara either working with the x-men or going off and making her own discoveries on human and mutant interaction. Right now, i doubt that she would even consider working with the government, based on her past and hitory. However bring asked, or having her learn knolege of the group trying to come together could be interesting in the camps. Some one lead, and as always, I will try to play along in the posts.

I can fully say Kaz would treat any mutant in this group as a traitor to all Mutants....he might take pity on them and possibly see them as beaten dogs.
Sonya would probably trust the government even less than she trusts anybody else right now... besides which, as time goes by she's going to get more and more of the "giving a damn about anybody else" beaten out of her. So that's probably not a fit.
Speed could potentially get into something like that, depending on the nature of the team and its missions. Basically, Speed wants to be part of a comic-book superhero team, and this could be close enough for, you'll pardon the expression, government work. But it will also depend a lot on how things work out with the X-Men, who he's currently obsessing over. Right now, the X-Men don't really exist as a faction, just a bunch of isolated prisoners, and I'm not sure what will happen after the prisoners are freed.
I can see Lee being both slightly interested and completely terrified by the idea of joining this team/faction/whatever. I mean, if they're really interested in 'helping out' the mutants, that'd be a bonus for Lee, and definitely a way she'd be able to gain legal status in the States. However, she's so far managed to stay hidden from the government (both her legality and the fact that she's a mutant), so I highly doubt she'd jump at the chance to make herself known to them. It is an interesting idea, though.

This group won't officially become a faction until after it has gained enough members to support its status as a faction. For now it is just an independent group on the site. If it works out and gains enough support, we'll see about making it into an official "faction" like the X-men, Kabal, and Order.

Indeed... I've cleared that up in my post... sorry for the confusion. The different wording had even me confused for a little, so I've changed the title and the wording in the post to avoid further confusing anybody. Again, sorry for that.
I think it is a good idea to bring another faction into the mix. The thing that gets me is that it not really ran by the government, if it were an official government based group, i think that would make more sense.
As far as my Script goes, I'm not sure if he would be too keen on the idea of having anything to do with the government, after seeing whats going on inside the camps...who know who you can trust now adays.
What is the goal they are ultimately trying to achieve anyways?

Also, FORCE sounds so violent for a group that wants peace between two groups.
Another idea is PACEM (pronounced "Pah-chem"), from the traditional song Dona nobis pacem (trans. "Give us peace"). It would stand for Peace And Co-Existence with Mutants (or Peaceful Army for Co-Existence with Mutants)
Idea 2 is HARMONY (Human And Mutant Regiment of New York), which would work except that the m and r are switched which kind of bugs me.

I love PACEM. I think I'll adapt that one unless someone can come up with a better one. Trying to keep it comicish, with a long acronym that actually spells out a word... kind of like SHIELD or something similiar. I think PACEM should fit the bill.
I can't very well ditch the not really government plot unless the mods agree. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter anyways, because Gwen and the government's plans will coincide... who knows... maybe she really is getting orders from there and just passing them down?

The reasoning behind not having the group work for the government is that it would be too complicated to align the group's goals with the government's goals. Either mods would constantly be having to tell the groups what missions they were receiving from the government, or Glare would end up having to control the government's stance on everything. If they are backed by a private individual it gives the group more freedom to create their own missions.

Right on... I love the independant but dependant side of this. Independant in reality, but dependant in thought. It really makes the group interesting, unique, and will be fun to RP...

Peaceful Co-existance between mutants and humans... with a little force behind it. Unlike the X-Men they will follow (what they believe to be) the government's plan for how this will come about though.
It will create very interesting situations between them and the three factions in the world.
Wow, I like the idea, will give Mandain & Horus some new people to hunt when my plot is over , also my new character that will be coming soon when I hit the 300 won't give PACEM an easy time
