The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The ice clone was hit with a lot of force. It was clear when half of the clone was blown away and the other half was sent spiraling a good twenty feet or so away from them. Sam smirked as Serena had the blood scarf and was on the ground. Sam jumped and was aiming to land on Serena’s chest. He made sure at the last minute to turn it into a landing instead of a kick to crush her ribs. He didn’t want to kill her just help her train and while she was doing great in Sam’s mind there was always room for improvement. Like being on your back in the middle of a fight.
”Start moving!” Sam yelled as the ice clone heard the command as well and started to reform. Once he was whole he too got back into the fight and did another charge at Serena this time sliding instead of trying to tackle.
Serena took in a sharp breath of cold air and flicked her arm upwards. "Not a chance!" The remaining blood flowing around her flew up at CS in a fairly liquid form, she aimed it squarely at his chest, and blasted at him with the force of a fire hose, hopefully at the very least it would move him off of stomping on her a bit, immediately followed by her rolling her body across the slippery ground, scrambling to her feet and taking another deep breath.
Serena gritted her teeth and sprinted in a circle around Sam. "Enough playing defense." She muttered to herself in defiance of Sam. She gathered the blood back to herself, spread it into a thick sheet in front of her and formed small little thorns out of it, slightly smaller than darts and started firing them at Sam as she ran in a large circle in the room, trying to get Sam between her and the clone.

Sam didn’t exactly know what the consistently was of blood but if it was anything like water he just got hit with a fire hose. Maybe there was more mass behind the attack as she threw blood at him enough to knock him off his feet and send him flying back on the ice. He adjusted and dug his hand into the ice below him and managed to regain balance.
Standing now Sam watched as Serena stalked around him firing little projectiles of blood. Sam made sure his ice armor was up before the first one made contact with him. Sam smirked behind his armor and then took the blood that was being fired at them and caused them to freeze. Sam then responded with a barrage of his own as he ran forward into a slide tackle at the circling hemo-mancer.
”That was your offense?” Sam chided as he slid. The ice clone was back on his feet and dove at Serena while there were a few spikes of blood protruding from the shell of ice that was the clone.
Serena felt a shudder run through her body. She was getting a little cold, that was a bad sign. She'd need to stop and take a break to take some fluids and such into her body soon enough. Bleeding had an effect on you, and she had lost somewhere near a pint, or rather she'd intentionally used somewhere in the vicinity of a pint of blood. She still had some fight left in here though, and she'd definitely be exercising that. Combat tended to make adrenaline be a thing, which compounded the effects of blood loss sadly.
Serena quickly took off at a sprint to the side, keeping her body tucked in itself, minimising her mass and the chance of being hit by the icicles coming her way. She managed to avoid getting all but grazed. As she ran and tried to keep away from the clones and Sam's attacks she held out her arm, gathering the blood back to her in a swift motion, she held it close to her, poising for an attack, building some kinetic energy behind it as she formed it into something akin to a massive fist.
She squeaked involuntarily as her feet were knocked out from under her, scraping a knee gently on the floor as Sam slid past. Her eyes flashed at him and she through the gathered mass of blood as a large blow towards his body, with more kinetic force than either of them could have managed with a real punch on their best day. She hoped that given his mobility was limited from the previous attack this would connect, and even through the ice Armour this was going to hurt, and probably bruise.

The attacks worked however he wasn’t able to prevent the blood-mancer from creating a fist of blood. Yup, it sounded gross and as it smacked into Sam’s ice armor it cracked where it was hit and he was sent flying back a few feet and ended up stopping after a full roll. He coughed hard due to the wind being knocked out of him but he waved his hand for the ice clone to go crazy swinging and kicking as much as possible hoping a few could connect as Sam tried to fill his lungs with air.
Clearly she had improved. Ice reformed around his ribcage and Sam exhaled all the air he had despite the pain. Maybe there was a cracked rib somewhere. Maybe he needed to get serious? Maybe it was time to bring out the big guns… Sam looked at the clock and smirked she had a few minutes left on the clock ten to be exact and it seemed she was still able to control her powers. Sam didn’t know when they started but if it was longer than her old time it worked well. A few ideas came to mind in regards to lengthen her control time as he filled his lungs as much as he could.
”Look over there!” Sam pointed as he slowly got up and started charging Serena again throwing a beam of ice at her midsection in hopes to slow her down while he charged her.
Serena had just about hit her limit, not necessarily related to her power in anyway. It was just everything, her body was being taxed harder than it was used to, in anyway. She had been fighting with Sam for maybe going on 15 or 20 minutes now and it was having a profound effect on her, her mind was still quick, but her limbs were slowing, she reflexively brought up the blood in a shield, deflecting the ice off to the side, bringing it up in front of her charging teacher.
Her exhaustion caught up with her, the blood formed into a medieval shaped shield in front of her dropped and she fell to her knees, wheezing in exhaustion. She ran, she could even marathon for longer than most people. But the exhaustion of taking damage, losing blood, hitting back and using her mutation for an extended period of time left her well and truly drained, a cold sweat had broken out across her forehead, and her hair had fallen down into her face.
If Sam couldn't slow his momentum he was most certainly going to crash into Serena, she probably didn't have the energy or faculties to manage a dodge right now, she was spent.

She dropped to her knees and Sam turned and jumped doing something he had rarely done. Bring both feet up he planted both against the blood shield and he pushed off of the shield as hard as he could. He flew backwards and caught himself first with a hand then his feet. Sam stood up and looked to the clock then snapped his fingers. The ice clone shattered just as it charged Serena again. It erupted into snow and landed on Serena.
”Still have some training to do but…” Sam gave her a thumbs up. ”Thoroughly impressed.” he said trying to give her a little ego boost after the fight. It was positive reinforcement she needed now, not more taunting. Even if he wanted to.
”Think I won that round.” Sam picked up the flask and took a swig after the tiring work. Taking a deep breath Sam looked down to his frozen wound and scrunched his nose. ”Doc isn’t going to be happy with you.” Sam pointed to his stab wound. ”He is tired of healing me.” Sam said taking another swig as if it helped more than just a distraction and a pain remover. ”You alright?” he finally asked.
Serena gave off a pleasant shudder as the snow hit her, feeling some of the warmth in her muscles easing off a bit at the cool sensation on her skin. She sighed and looked up at him, finally getting around to catching her breath. It had been a good work out. And if Sam truly thought that it was anything less, he needed to get his head checked, because for anybody less than an X-man it was stellar.
She stuck her tongue out playfully at him. "Sorry, I've been a little busy being a GOOD STUDENT." she responded in a playful tone.
Her smile faded into a neutral expression when he took another drink, it was fairly obvious that she wasn't happy about the state he was in. "Tricky to work out a way to get through your defense without going through you." She admitted wryly. "And if you didn't want injuries to happen you shouldn't have brought powers into it so readily, you are well aware of how dangerous mine can be." The blonde retorted cooly.
Serena smiled finally "I've suffered far worse, I think I could do with something to eat and some fluids though. Blood loss and all." She replied in a softer tone.

”It’s fine to be a good student, but keep in mind you were once my student and this like anything else needs to be studied.” Sam responded with his own level of sass. He smirked to Serena and then collapsed to the ground landing on his rear. He needed a healer but he also needed a rest and a drink. He pulled his arms around his knees and he sat staring at Serena.
Sam ignored the look she gave him with the first sip by taking another. ”I’m here to make you better at this, control of your body and mutation right? How will you get better if you don’t push yourself to your limit?” Sam asked his mouth turning into a sly grin followed by an eyebrow raise. ”My defenses were there to make you think how to get through it. You did it, though next time try to restrain a bit more. Eventually you should be able to feel how much force is needed to get through something without killing anyone.” Sam teased.
Offering her the flask Sam raised his eyebrow again, ”Not water but it works for me.”
Serena smiled at Sam wearily. "True, but I'm no slacker. And there are more important things in the world than fighting, especially for people like the leaders of the X-men." She added thoughtfully. Serena hadn't discussed her thoughts on them fully with Sam, and that was a conversation for another day.
Serena also shook her head at the offer of the alcohol. "I'm underage here. It'd be setting a bad example for the students. You do enough of that for the both of us." She winked. The kids at the mansion were not idiots, they caught onto things with the staff members, and rumors had a tendency to spread like wildfire.
Serena bit her lip where Sam couldn't see her, she wanted to say more on his drinking, and his general state, but she wasn't sure where to apply pressure in the conversation, she didn't want to scare him off, she wanted to help him. This wasn't going entirely as planned. "Come on, lets get said food, then we'll see the Doc if anything is broken or badly damaged. I'll probably just clean my cuts myself." She wouldn't hassle the Doc if she didn't have to, the blonde was used to dealing with wounds for obvious reasons.
