The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Heyo!
It’s the site newbie here coming to you with an idea for a new site wide plot. I’ve already discussed this with a few people in the cbox and with some (to remain unnamed) high-ranking Ragnarok baddies who all suggested I take it to the suggestions page, and thus…here we stand today. This may or may not work out, and may or may not interest anyone, but either way please respond to let me know what you think along with any and all suggestions you have so that we can get this plot rolling (or shot down as quickly as possible in a blaze of failure; whatever the prevailing opinion is). With that, I give you…the Utopia Plot.
The plot is tentatively named as such because it apparently holds a decent amount of similarities to the canon Utopia Plot for those of you who, unlike me, are familiar with all of the canon comic plots. That being said, that is a happy coincidence and not the entirety of this plot…I hope.
The META Bots spread beyond New York City, beginning to appear in all major cities in the US, followed by the rest of the world. This does not cause much of a stir, and everything seems to be going well until the increasingly dysfunctional META Bots start to target all mutants, not just those committing a crime. This issue becomes a serious point of conflict between the pro and anti-mutant rights groups across the world. Ambrose Jaager, being the ingenious opportunist he is, uses the rising tensions and temporarily poor mutant living conditions caused by the dispute, along with the resources at his disposal with JW to push for the creation of a new, all-mutant nation.
This new nation quickly becomes a world superpower, as its economy – and military – are backed entirely by mutant-power. Ambrose, being in a place of massive power at this point, positions a Ragnarok puppet-mutant to play politician (possibly an NPC, unless someone would like to volunteer) at the head of this new nation. The controversy stirred worldwide by the creation of this new, seemingly all-powerful mutant nation is astronomical between the pro and anti-mutant lobbyists. Naturally, Ragnarok, working behind the scenes through this mutant Utopia do anything and everything they can to fan the flames of these tensions to the point of the beginnings of what is shaping up to be a third world war between nations that have aligned as predominantly anti-mutant, and those that have become allies with this new mutant nation and have declared themselves pro-mutant. All of this, of course, works out wonderfully for Ragnarok, as the creed of Ragnarok is to cause a chaos that would raze the world, leaving only the strongest and most worthy behind to build the better one.
The conflict would never escalate to this level, as diplomacy, the help of the X-men, and the failure of all mutants in the world to comply with the trend of moving to the mutant Utopia ultimately allow for the tensions to diffuse into normalcy. With tensions eased, many mutants feel it safe to return to their home countries, and with most of its population gone, the all-mutant Utopia withers.
Personally, I feel that this plot would be a great experience for every member and character, as it provides many opportunities for people to explore internal and external conflicts, both on a large and small scale. Would your character jump at the opportunity to move to this all-mutant nation? Or would they be one of the stragglers to move in near the end after months of second-guessing, or would they even move at all and stay back to be one of the few mutants left in a pro, or anti-mutant nation? Will you be sent of a covert mission to worsen tensions and catalyze the war? Or will you do your best to show that there is a peaceful way out of this? To me, the possibilities and directions this could take your character in could be endless.
Any suggestions? Let me know what you think. I’d love to have all the errors and holes fixed, and any ideas to further build the idea up. Do you think it won’t work out, or you don’t think it’d be good for the site? Please let me know why!

Love the idea! I think it should work really well on the site. She's a little young to be a politician, but Astrid is here for all of your scapegoating needs <3 <3 <3
(Also, I have a suggestion for an NPC, but I'll wait until we've ruled out a volunteer first.)
Adder has suggested that we combine the Utopia and Anti-murder rally and first aid education plot ideas with the result being this (if I'm not mistaken, if I am, please correct me Adder). There is an instance of mass-murder classified as a hate crime against mutants. This leads to peaceful protests and movements in support of mutants. However, violence begins to erupt at these events aggravated by anti-mutant protestors. These events snowball until there are protests and sit ins on both sides, pro and anti-mutant, which even turns into the occasional riot. The two camps further alienate and cases of violence targeting mutants increase in frequency. It is the fear generated in the mutant community along with the failing of the META Bots as they begin arresting all mutants that allows for Ambrose Jaager to capitalize on the situation and start a committee set on founding the mutant Utopia. From this point, the Utopia plot would continue as previously described.
Again, thank you, and please reply with your thoughts!
I like the idea. I don't think I have any politician grade characters at the moment. I think this has potential to be great fun!
I think this could lead to a real civil war type situation with mutants with differing opinions fighting amongst themselves. Lots of character growth and personal plot options.
Elliott could always be trained to be a politician. He's already green. That's in these days, right? Being green?
As a staunch Ragnarok supporter whose loyalty is absolutely above question I love the idea of getting our own nation. I think this could also be a plot that would divide the X-men and the police, and lead to them actually doing something about the META bots. It would also raise opportunity for more spying, which I am in favour of, not that I am a spy, you understand >.>
Don't have anyone to volunteer for the political role, but if it's someone who is destined for a downfall or death, perhaps an NPC is the better option? Plus NPC leadership would be protection against accidental plot death due to player absence. Just a thought.
That's a good point Glitch. In my mind we would have to play it out to get a feel for what makes sense at the moment. But I think it would be fun to keep them around and just have them fixed, staying as a permanent plot feature for people to play with, and to keep mutant/human tensions a little strained afterwards
Yes. So yes. Count me in with Jiri and Panu. Maybe even Rupert or Maxine if we need some brief zealot and/or newscaster pieces interspersed.
Fun things Ragnarok could do to help fan the flames: launch strategic hits that make it seem like anti-mutants are attacking mutants, and vice versa; aid in funding the newly expanded production line; offer a “security expert” to help recode it (because, goodness, look how much trouble they've been having with hackers!); etc.
Might I suggest, location wise, that the new nation be in located in Antarctica? Waaaay back when we did the first future plot, there was an only-mutant colony located there, under a big ol' mutant-made dome with plant-mancers and heat-mancers making it nice and self-sustaining, and a portal mutant NPC (Doorkeeper, I think the name was?) opening up convenient travel passages from all over the world straight inside… for mutants only, of course. Many NPC mutants would probably remember that, from their own future dreams long ago, so it would be a natural suggestion and a nod to site history.
That sounds great! And yes, that sounds wonderful of Ragnarök. I have a timeline for the plot that I made that has more details about specifics. Would you, Her Royal Highness The Historian, First of Her Name, like for me to post that now?
(Also, would Panu be willing to make some META Bots act up and arrest mutants not committing crimes to further incentivize mutants to move to Utopia?)
Agreed with Tarissa: let there be All The Hate Crimes. <3
Go go timeline! Let's see what cha got!
(For folks who've never been in on the site wide plot plannin' process around here, a quick run down on how it works:
1) We have a proposal thread like this. If the idea is popular, go to step 2.
2) Combine player ideas into something workable, and pick a time to start it (summer is a great time, so this one could start ASAP.)
3) Plot launch. Plots are generally co-run between the player(s) who came up with the idea and the Mods, so that we can keep announcements and such up to date as the plot progresses, and coordinate/nudge events along as needed.
Thus ends this how-plots-are-run tutorial. Carry on with the popularizing and planning!)
