The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

I like the idea of using the Haywire virus. Realistically, an epidemic is something that could change the dynamics of the world very quickly, while normal political things like mutants suddenly going from the underdogs to ruling humans would take much more time.
If we go with the virus idea, we could say that something went wrong with the experimentation and the virus got set loose (2 or 3 years in the future). The virus would have a very high communicability and a high mortality rate for humans. Mutants could get it too, but would effect them differently. The virus would take longer to incubate (so mutants could pass it on to humans without even knowing they have it) and it would cause mutants to loose control of their powers, but it would not be fatal. The amount that it effects mutants would be much reduced because of all the experimentation that was done on it. For some mutants, they effect might be so small that they don't even realize that they got it.
The area that the epidemic would affect is North and South America. Humans would panic and begin to flee the Western continents. Humans would be allowed to take refuge in other countries provided that they lived under guaranty for a certain period of time and took a blood test to prove that they didn't carry any passive X-genes. Mutants and carriers of X-genes would not be allowed to leave the Americas, because they could be carrying the disease without knowing it and the time for incubation of the disease in mutants is unknown, long, or variable.
This would establish a world climate where it is mostly mutants that live in the Americas (with exceptions for humans in really remote locations where the disease didn't take effect). Mutants living in the rest of the world would probably not be treated very well, so most of them will probably move to the Americas where the virus takes on an annoying, but not too harmful role, similar to getting a cold or the flu.
The future plot would take place a few years after the outbreak of the virus, after the humans have fled and things have started to settle down again (5-7 years after the outbreak for a total of 7-10 years in the future). The rest of the world still refuses to allow any form of transportation to leave the American continents and they won't trade with the mutants for fear of contamination. This causes tensions between the mutants and the humans, but they are currently at peace.
And I still think 7 is the best number, but would be okay with as high as 10.
I very much like the virus idea, and Kat's version is the best so far (in my opinion). I think it should definately be the haywire virus, so mutants have their powers enhanced, so that for example, Ted is tronger, faster, better senses, but it requires much less pain to make him transform, and it's harder for him to fight instincts. n short, both cons and pros of powers shoot up dramatically (or possibly variable, depending on the mutant). What do you think? Or have I just reiterated what has already been said?
I very much like the idea of this plot, since we can do dramatic changes in your character if you feel like it. But i agree that their must be something wrong with the future, that gives us something maybe to try to fix which could lead to that not happening, giving us the chance in the now time to fix what will happen in the future time, hope you guys understand what I just wrote if this is already suggested my fault ^^
Okay, forgive me for jumping subjects a bit here. Since quite a few are in favor of some 'evil' needing to be defeated, any brainstorms (or volunteers ) for what or who that 'evil' could be/do/want?
I'm sure we could do the classic 'Take Over the World' thing, but maybe something a bit more in depth or diabolical would be more fun. Like someone checking to see how effective the virus is, before mutating it again to plant a mind-control version (not original, I know, but I don't think I have the 'Evil Genius' mind. )
Also, just a side thought: what would humans have that mutants would need from them, enough for them to strike a truce?
I have an idea for what the evil could be: an X-man! It could be that one of us turned evil, so as well as everyone else trying to stop him/her, that particular character could have a look at what they might become if their not careful. Along the same lines, the 'evil' could be Prof X turned evil. Then he may be able transmit the virus with his mind via cerebro (ok I'm just being silly now.... ahem) ok not that, but maybe have evil prof x. Then we could have a few people RP as original x-men/x-men villains that try to take him down. Just an idea.
Ted..like the idea but it would be more personal if it was one of us,seeing how after the time skip.were barely ever gonna play one of them. But if you need an evil Xman,I was planning on turning Deja anyway. But your idea still rocks!
I also vote no canon. The only canon apperances have been by me as Prof X twice to help out people who needed some serious psychic help. The all original nature of the site is one of it's strongest points I think.

Ok then, no canon characters. Fair enough, just thought it would be interesting. The haywire virus thing though, that sounds cool It could be that we need human DNA to make the x-gene recessive, so that we become immune to the virus, but have our powers reduced. What do you think?

Well, Sara mentioned something about becoming human earlier. Maybe we could have a couple of volunteers to do that, become sick, and survive the Haywire virus, then help with 'finding' a cure. I'm still indecisive (creativity block), but if it would help, maybe I could volunteer Iris for that as well, since she's already been 'infected' in a sense with Haywire.
Also, I'm just thinking. Technically Haywire isn't a virus, its an effect from a mutant. So in order to make it a virus, you'd have to splice (is that the right word?) it in with a cold or flu strain, or something of the like. So my next questions are, Who's going to be responsible for that? and Is the virus's release going to be an accident or on purpose by someone? If on purpose, why? (Sorry if someone answered this already, I probably skimmed over it. Just ignore me if so. )
I also agree with no canons. Its much easier to stick with our own characters, since no one knows them better than we do.

Well, considering it was taken from a mutant, like in X3, they had to already do something with the blood etc. It could be just an unforeseen side effect of that. Then it mutates/changes into a virus type thing, probably not an actual virus though, that attacks the xgene in a certain way.
to tell you the truth, since i wasn't here for the haywire and stuff, I really don't have an opinion on the virus. So..u guys can work that out. But rememebr,we dont want to worry about one thing alone.

In regards to the worrying over more than one thing, I think there should be the virus (or whatever, just some sort of haywire outbreak) so we have to focus with surviving that, whilst trying to get the cure from the humans, and maybe the humans are after something that we've got? i'm not sure what, I just think it's an interesting idea.
