The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

MRO plots are player-created the Mods facilitate and organize the big ones, but we get the ideas from you. Do you have a plot in mind, and want to know whether it needs Mod approval? Check out our plot guidelines.
Notes on main plot vs. side plot debate: I think if we are going to do this as a plot it needs to be a main plot. There is so much character development that we can do and everyone wants to show off their powers in the future. I'm really interested in what my character's relationships will be like in the future with all the other characters on the site, and there is no way I could interact with everyone that I want to if we were only going for one day. As a side plot there just wouldn't be time to do all of that and I'd also much rather go for longer than one day.
Doing it as a longer main plot would also help us all stretch our writing abilities so much. Another point towards main plot.
I'd really like this to be a main plot and I don't think we can do it justice if we limit it to just one future day. Maybe we can be in the future for quite awhile, but when we wake up again it is just the next morning after we left. That sort of thing happens all the time, where time seems warped while you are asleep.
If it was a side plot I feel like a lot of people would be really distracted by trying to do both at once, so that is another reason to go all out main plot.
Notes on the plot itself: I like the idea of a NPC who can see possible futures and foresees something bad (NOT mutants being enslaved though, that would be too similar to the registration plot thread.) The NPC mutant would also have the power to combine his power with other mutants somehow, and that is how he is able to use Deja to help him show us all what the future could hold if we continue on our current path. So he isn't a bad mutant and doesn't need defeating, but perhaps we all need to learn some sort of lesson before we can all come back.
Speaking of our current path: currently the mutant population is very divided. One idea would be a battle between different factions of mutants (although I'm not sure that we really have enough people for there to be a full scale mutant civil war). Moral of the story: learn to get along. Idea two: Another part of our current path that could cause problems in the future is how much killing of humans goes on (but I'm not sure what sort of apocalyptic event this would cause). Moral of the story: don't kill so many humans.
I'm not sure if there is any factor that we could change in our current time that would decide whether or not there was some sort of worldwide apocalypse. Maybe it could be some sort of World War III, (although I don't know if I'd like to write about a war, it's just an idea). In the war the humans and the mutants could be forced to work together. Moral of the story: get along with humans. This same moral could also be used with some other plot idea besides a war.
OR If the NPC character wants us to learn some sort of lesson, the lessons could also be more personal. Each character could have their own decision to make and their own lesson to learn. And when they learn that lesson they get to wake up again.
With this type of plot, we don't ever have to realize that the dream world isn't real until the very end, because learning our lesson wouldn't require our characters knowing that they got sucked into the future.
When everyone wakes up again, I think they should remember this plot line the same way the would remember a dream: in patchy pieces and broken fragments that are soon forgotten, except for the moral or message that the NPC mutant was trying to send.
Logistics: Maybe we could post in all the regular areas but put "(FP)" in front of all the titles- for "Future Plot". Example: (FP) Katrina's Room. That way it wouldn't get all mixed up with the regular time line.
If some people want to play this as a side plot maybe those people could choose to be in two regular threads and one (FP) thread. The people who want to devote more time to the future plot could do the opposite. Or, if they decide they like where the future plot is headed, they could decide later to devote more of their threads to it.
To keep things straight we could all also make Future character profiles and just post them on our regular profile pages. They'd have a lot of the same information as the regular profiles, except updated.
My personal preferences: My vote is 6 to 9 years, because I'd really like Katrina to be in college at the time. 7 seems like kind of a magical number though. It's the number that always gets used in fairy tales and such. I think seven years would still give people enough time to develop their powers to wherever they want them to be.
This is an example of what a future profile could look like. This would be posted on your regular profile page, but you would NOT modify your original profile. You would just post it in a new reply below your original profile. Example
EXAMPLE FUTURE PROFILE (New things should be in italics- or a different color) Character's real name: Katrina Dumonde Codename/Alias: Kat

*nods* I think Kat makes a lot of good points, I like the (FP) idea at the begining of threads and such, and her 'sample' future profile. *thumbs up* Good job there.
Though I'm still of the opinion of 15 years, or at least over 10.
I do think there should be something 'wrong' with the future that we're meant to see and that the person who 'sent' us there would want us to change. Maybe the human population has dwindled a lot in those years, as the number of mutants increases, it 'jump starts' latent mutants (This is actually something that happens according to Marvel, every mutant has a 'wave' that other mutants pick up on, it can't be tracked and isn't known about, but it is what drives mutants to come together in groups and crowded areas. Also when a lot of mutants are together the strength of the wave litterally jump starts latent xgenes to awaken.). If the number of human's decreases....maybe they hold the cure for a natural virus that attacks mutants at the genetic level.
That could effect every mutant, good or evil, none want to die. It would be sad and crappy and depressing but perhaps the person sees the mutant race dying if human's are killed because of silly 'supremacy' thinking.
Or, a natural disaster of epic size. Think giant death meteor. After it hits, humans being more frail than mutants in general, get the worst of it. Mutants take the opportunity to overthrow humans, and thus begin their own extinction because their Pride as Mutants stops them from thinking of the big picture.
I do like the total reversal idea--Mutants in charge, yo. That's something I doubt we'll get to explore in the present time plot lines, so it could be veeeeeery interesting to take a peek at it, in the future.
Plus, can you even imagine Rupert?
*pictures him on a porch somewhere, in a rocking chair, with a shoot gun*

Alright Since I am gonna be the person that has to narrate this plot we are gonna have to work out details.
I still think it should be at the most eleven years. Also it could be a main plot it's just this seems it would be more fun as a side plot, Im serious I have an X men site for refrence if you guys want it where we created a seperate area called the future and we did some posts and then left them there continuing on with our lives.
I agree with kaz ((this is getting wierd)) that there should be something wrong with the Future, the whole world can not be perfect I do not want to see a repeat of the House of M. There has to be a little evil in the plot, it just doesnt have to do much.
Also the Factions of mutants are working together anyways on the current plot to save one another. So them still being all chummy with one another seems a bit off.
Also most of the Future plots in the comic Universe where almost always treated as a sepreate universe a Seperate Entity.
I really want to do this plot now, as it allows us to do somethings we never could otherwise. For an overall thing I think it does need something driving each side, but not nessecarily the same thing. In ten or so years, with the sudden influx of mutant power Hunter will be in a much more powerful position than he is now. He won't have the complete dominance that he is seeking, but he will be able to pull more strings than he can now.
The idea of a mutant majority appeals to me, especially if teamed up with the virus. The virus could be targetting active X-genes and come from a lab where some experiment went wrong (I'm happy to have the lab and unlease teh virus by accidnet). To cure it you need help of the Human nation as a pure human genome contains the key to a cure. Something like by this point all the remaining humans have banded together as one nation somewhere or other and the mutants control everywhere else. The human nation stays mutant free by genetic screening to ensure that there are no mutant children.
Thus we all have something to work for, but we don't necessarily want to work together, as I'm sure Syn would quite happily sit back and watch the X-men die while she finds a cure. Alos if it's in a human nation even Hunter wouldn't have sufficient influence to just pull out what he needs and he would have to work at it. That gives us all something to work towards and no great drive to work together. Just an idea, but I reckon that enough great ideas have come up that we'll get a good one no matter what.
I definately like the anti-mutant virus, I was thinking that maybe the humans have all gathered up on a large island somewhere, like britain or japan or greenland, so that they are completly seperate. There could be fighting between them and the mutants, and it's up to us to make a truce/force them to give us the cure. I think we should avoid the 'forced to work with rivals' idea, because we are already doing that. BUT we could have that a few of us have changed sides in the future... man this opens a lot of writing/character development oppurtunities lol
but most important, I think this should be a main thread, but have people doing 'pre/post' threads so that new people can get involved with the site, and so that we can carry on our character's normal development.
Well, if I read everything right (jury's still out there, lol) then I vote for:
- Virus that attacks mutants only, that humans hold the cure to unknowingly - 10 years (mainly because I like even numbers) - Main plot, with its own board (if we can get Lady J to approve it) - Separate Future Profile with powers - Memories of the 'past', but future and memories not set in stone - Butterfly effect (no 'bad guy' per se, but someone showing mutants what will happen if human are extinguished - Deja not dying, lol - Mutants still divided, but for different purposes now (not sure what purposes, but not equality with humans anymore, maybe more like 'political parties' this time)
Okay, so that's what sounds good to me, though I'm still in the dark as to something original to do with my characters. Either way:
Just a thought: Could the virus be the Haywire virus? Potentially, in the future the Order released it on a wide-scale, but something went very wrong with the way it worked.
ie, it mutated after awhile--so killed a lot of humans at first, which caused them to panic and become a very tight-nit community; then the virus started mutating, and now it just affects mutants.
Alternately, the humans found a way to cure themselves and/or force the mutation of the virus so it attacked mutants.
Just an idea to wrap up that loose end from the Haywire plot, and do it on a global scale.
I was tryin' to think of what would change the world dramatically in tenish years, and that's what I came up with.
-undecided on the virus -agrees on ten years -Please approve Lady J -Seperate profile -memories of past but no memory of the future -Deja not dying (i gotta protect my girl lol) - Mutants united
-undecided on virus -agrees on ten years -preety please, with sugar on top approve lady j -separate profile -memories of future and past(like were in that body) -me not dying(gotta keep all y'all civil) -fall out boy!,lol -mutants united
I'm sure Syn would quite happily sit back and watch the X-men die while she finds a cure.
That much is certain. Don't forget that I still have King Pharmaceuticals. I could just as easily create/unleash a virus. In fact such a topic was discussed between my dear brother and I awhile back during the Haywire plot. Though I admit it was originally planned to be used against humans, but I suppose a mutant strain could be made.
