The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She wasn't sure if she had met Sam or not, but he was who she was supposed to meet. She made sure to ask around for him, of course, until she was directed to him. When she found his office, she gave a soft knock in hopes he was there. Xavia then waited, and tucked a stray strand of red hair behind her ear to get it out of her face.
While she waited, she took a glance around her, trying to remember her stay in the mansion, brief as it had been. How long ago had it been? Ugh, she couldn't seem to bring that part of her past back to her even after all this time since Romania. Or maybe she just didn't want to remember all the details of her life in that terrible time.
Either way, she was on a mission. She wanted to join the X-Men. It had been something she had thought about for quite some time before venturing to put herself out there to do so. She could not deny her gift anymore and wanted to embrace it, and she wanted to do some good with it. But all she knew were little parlor tricks for the most part, unimpressive things that wouldn't help too much to win a fight unless she used vines or something. She needed to expand upon her gift. How could she do that on her own?

It was hot. Even with his mutation, which normally kept his body temperature comfortable and cool he was still sweating and had a few scorch marks on his skin. No burns other than his right forearm but his Led Zeppelin shirt had a bunch of burn marks and holes in it. Even with his powers he couldn’t save hos Zeppelin shirt. See Sam had just gotten out of a power training session with one of the mansions newest fire manipulators and while he seemed to have the throwing fire thing down pretty well he still had difficulty keeping control and not bursting into flames.
Luckily for the mansion though his room had been fire proofed and heat resistant something the mansion was now capable of thanks to Kate. It took a while but they finally figured out with enough flame retardant drywall and a steel wall behind that they could keep the place from burning down. It also helped to have a cooling system made specifically for battling fires. Sam loved it when the little tech nerds had science projects. They seemed to be fixing the mansion better than some engineers ever could.
Sam walked into his office almost kicking the door down. It slammed against the wall and he went to his desk without looking at the woman who was there. He could feel her but he was still a little irritated and out of it. Sam went into his desk without saying a word and pulled out a bottle of whiskey and started chugging. After a second he slammed the bottle and then shook his head reaching into the same drawer and pulling out another shirt.
Sam stopped and looked to the woman who was there and then raised an eyebrow. ”Hey. Can I help you?” his tone was a little more irritated than he intended but he figured with the burn holes in his shirt she’d forgive him. Sam then took off his shirt and slammed it into the garbage can before putting on the other one still ignoring the burn on his forearm. He didn’t wait for an answer before he took another long swig of the whiskey to numb some of the pain.
She blinked and followed the angry ice mutant (she had not actually been in the office, but the hallway, but for the sake of not having you redo your whole post...) into his office, watching him slam around. She noticed the burns and, when he finally spoke to her, she moved over to him. She overturned her hand and concentrated, though spoke as she stared at her palm, "I was told to come see you 'bout joining X-men," she said as the beginning spike of an aloe plant peaked through her skin and broke through.
"But we worry about that soon, tend to burns, yes?" Someone who was blind would probably not miss the fact of the scorches. And she who at least had the capability to bring a little bit of relief, was going to do so to the best of her abilities. It took a few moments for the plant to come out more, and sweat beaded on her forehead a little as she willed it to sprout faster. A plant, the size of six or seven inches around at the top and about as long, with twelve or so spikes, was then nestled in the palm of her hand. Her hand had turned the same green and had that leafy quality to every digit, as well. She picked the aloe from her hand, and then squeezed some of the gel out.
"Here," she said quietly and moved closer, still to him. That rosy scent of hers would curl gently against his nostrils as she, if he didn't stop her, would ply the gel to the burns to sooth them. "I come here years ago, someone save me from kidnapping. I was science experiment because I do t'is power." She snorted a little as she traced the piece gently over another burn, "I have t'is power for long time, t'ough did not know till I was teenager. Anyway, because t'e people here save me, I give back every chance I get. But I was not ready to join X-men for long time. I am ready now if you have me." The whole time she spoke, she was picking pieces of the spikes and squeezing gel onto whatever burns she could find (again, unless he stopped her).
It was then that she paused and tilted her head at him. His face struck a chord with her. She blinked a few times and she said, "Good to see you again, by t'e way, Sam." She was remembering the conversation she had, how she had donated money for the green house, and it was through him. Ahhh, yes.

OOC: Sorry about that, I had no idea why I read that she walked in
Sam looked to her hand and stared when she offered it. She was producing something in her hand it was green and small but it took Sam a few moments to figure out what she was doing. Looking up to the girl with a bottle still in his hand he was thrown off slightly by her accent. It sounded very familiar and in an instant he was reminded of Alexandra who he hadn’t really seen in years but was often haunted by in his dreams or rather nightmares. Even if it wasn’t the same accent as her he remembered the accent when he was with her in Romania.
Sam took a swig of his whiskey again to clear his head. ”Burns.” Sam said agreeing as he looked to her still slightly surprised. He tried to place a face. It was clear she seemed comfortable with him enough offer what now looked like and Aloe leaf in a green plant looking hand. He thought of the people in the mansion he knew with a power similar to this. There weren’t many. In fact he couldn’t recall meeting her before. When she got closer he could smell something floral like some kind of perfume.
Sam leaned back and took a slight step back when she took hold of her arm. He didn’t move his arm however and listened to her as she applied the plant. When she asked to join the X-Men Sam smirked. It also seemed that they had met before. The greenhouse was a dead giveaway. Not many people were interested in donating to the green house even if it was beautiful. Not that he would ever admit it.
”Multumesc?” Sam asked not sure if that was the way she would know ‘thank you’ but it was one of the many words he still retained from his time in Romania. He didn’t wait for a response to the word just in case it didn’t register with her.
”I’m sorry, um… Bad with names but I remembered you took an interest in the green house.” Sam said bluntly with a smile. Sam took a step back satisfied with the application of the aloe for now. He had been burned worse before and he could always see Doc later. ”Why don’t you have a seat.” Sam said with a gesture towards the chairs across from his desk as he sat back in his.
”X-Men huh?” Sam asked nodding his head threw gritted teeth as he took another sip of the drink then offered it up to her. Placing the bottle a on his desk a little closer to her if she wanted it he continued, ”There were a few people you could have seen. Guess I do have been here longer time on the team though.” Sam scratched his head placing his elbows on his desk thinking about that statement for a second. Sam smirked at the odd feeling. ”Pretty long process though.” Sam shrugged, ”Why do you want to join the X-Men?” he asked her already starting the process to see if she was really interested in the team.
"Szívesen," she replied in Hungarian, rather than Romanian. She understood him just fine, having that language as well as a few others under her belt. "Xavia," she said when he spoke of not remembering her name. "Yes, I come here long time ago to donate," her smile was genuine as she backed away, disposed of the ruined plant matter, and moved to sit down. The whiskey was refused politely in that time, too.
"I wish to join because they save my life, an' I wasn't ready back t'en to join... I am now. I wish to learn how to use powers better an' fight for good." Xavia crossed one leg over the other, the white cotton of her dress shifting some with the movement. "I get tired of being kidnapped an' experiment on, or torture. I live away from here for years to reboot brain. I have baby while gone and realize she is most important t'ing in world to me an' I need to be strong for her. I cannot do t'at if I do not hone my gift, no? Lot of reason to join."
She took a deep breath. He would be able to notice that the green, leafy quality to her hand was slow to return to skin, and she was still sweating a little bit.

”Lot of reasons not to join too.” Sam said shrugging. ”You got a kid right? She here or back home?” Sam asked curiously. Not a lot of people who had kids stayed on the team the whole near death experiences were pretty numerous so once someone on the kid had a kid they usually left the team. Ghost for example. He didn’t blame anyone for leaving the team, he’d probably do the same if he had a kid. Well a real kid.
”I get that you want to help I’m just trying to figure out the motivation is all. Protecting those who can’t protect themselves is a noble cause sure but.” Sam took one last swig of his whiskey before putting the top back on and then setting it back into his desk making a note for either Drew or Mirror to pick up more when they were on errands for him because one of them must have done a lot of work on the bottle. ”I guess I’m asking is why the X-Men and not another group?” Sam asked.
It wasn’t that he was promoting another group far from it, just it seemed in the last few years the questionnaires seemed to go unfilled and questions that should be asked don’t. He was tired of dealing with teammates who shoot first and ask questions later. He was supposed to be the only one to do that now. It made things easier that way.
”Relax.” Sam said feeling the heat radiating from her. ”I just ask questions so I know you’d be a good fit. Safer that way, for everyone.”
"Doing t'is for her. I was kidnapped more t'an one time an' never knew how to defend self. How can I defend her if I cannot defend self? I owe X-Men my life, too. Boy wit' animals save me from one kidnap, I stay here for few weeks. She is wit' my mama an' papa, and t'ey will make sure she is okay if somet'ing happen to me. Which bring me back to kidnapping... I am not out of danger, ever. I cannot get comfortable an' preten' everyt'ing is going to be fine. I feel X-men is best fit because t'ey fight for t'e right t'ings." She had a lot of conviction in her voice as she spoke. "So it is win-win. I have people 'round me who can help better if I wit' t'em, an I can help back."
As far as the sweating went, it was from the whole use of her power, not any outward nervousness. In fact, she seemed fine other than that. Xavia took a deep breath and sighed, "I get tired sometime when I use power like t'is. Take lot of energy to make plant in hand. Less energy to make plant grow t'at already in pot. Even less to make seed sprout in ground. I also not use power much since my daughter was born."
She set her eyes to roam the office for a moment, then returned them to his face. Not once did she let them wander over his chest or arms since she applied the aloe to his burns. She kept herself polite, she didn't stare, she didn't seem nervous either. It was as if he wasn't half clothed and things were just normal for her. Or maybe not? Okay, so she wasn't blind, and she was human. Duh, of course she could appreciate his form, but she was making sure NOT to do it for the sake of keeping it professional. It had been a long time since she had even noticed a male in that way.

Sam held all his questions and comments till she was done explaining her self and the drain her powers took on her. While Sam never thought the mutation made the X-Man it did come in hand to have a decent control over them. Meaning Sam or someone else would have to train her. Frequently.
Ice coated his upper torso where the aloe was applied. He two had the ability to lessen the pain though seeing as his mutation also was to be immune to the cold it didn’t help much other than in his head. ”You mentioned you were kidnapped.” several times but he too had experienced this more than once so he was a little curious. He was also curious how she escaped but he didn’t ask. One time a boy with animals rescued her. Sam wasn’t sure exactly who that was but he was pretty sure he could find out if he looked into the files.
”You might know what we fight for and I know what we fight for but enlighten me. Pretend I’m just a regular guy asking about it. I have know idea what they do.” Sam wanted to hear something similar to what he said whenever he described what they do. They fight for equality by showing that mutants shouldn’t be feared. That being able to coexist without violence is possible. Something that Sam had a difficult time living out recently.
"Four times." She said, giving a humorless laugh. "T'ree since I grow up. Learn a lot." Xavia left it at that, however, because some of it was hazy, and other parts painful. "X-men fight for respect among everyone, justice, an' stand for everyt'ing I do... T'ey are strong and protect t'e weak, I would like to be strong so I can protect weak too. Above all, t'ey don't ask for t'ing in return."
She canted her head and watched him through lashes that were then, slightly lowered. The sweating had ceased, though it left her face flushed in a charming manner. One thing was clear, she had a good ability, just not the means yet to control it like it needed to be, and didn't have the knowledge honed for it's use.
Her palms were swiped along the hem of her dress, as if to adjust the fabric over her knees. Not really a nervous gesture, just a natural one.

Okay so she didn’t really go into the kidnappings, which meant they would be tabled for another conversation once Sam got to know her a little better. He didn’t like not knowing who had to deal with what. It sometimes left for an unpredictable teammate, which in turn could lead to trouble. Some would call Sam unpredictable.
Sam smirked cleared his throat when she said the X-Men don’t ask for anything in return. ”Actually that last bit isn’t true. We do ask for something.” Sam stood up and then walked over to the front of the desk and leaned on it keeping his eye focused on Xavia. ”We want equality. We fight to inspire others to do the same. We fight for a difference. We have the ability to help and protect so we do. We try to prove that coexistence between humans and mutants is not only possible but it already exists. We try to show that not all of us are bad that not all of us should be feared.” Sam then gestured to her then himself. ”That we shouldn’t be experimented on.” He used it as an example but that was the point he was trying to get across.
”You want on the team done. But you will have to train and pass a tryout before you become a member. Then you will be on probation till I” Sam put a thumb in his chest. ”Or one of the other full fledged team members say other wise.” Sam paused a second then added, ”You will also need to take some self defense training by yours truly. Also I want you to practice your gifts more. We don’t have to many healers in the field. Your gifts.” Sam held up his arm to show the burn and where the aloe she produced was applied.
”We can use them. We will have use for them. Until you are a full fledged off probation team member you listen to what I say and any other team leader has to say. You duck when we tell you to and you run when we tell you to. You wait when we tell you.” Sam guessed she was over 17 meaning she could become a full fledged member. It just came down to training.
She nodded, knowing all of that. She had meant more the asking for help in return for giving help, but that was another story. Her eyes narrowed a little at the whole... experimentation thing. That was a good indication that some of her ordeals had been about the experimentation. He would be able to see her lips tighten and her visibly stiffening at the mere word.
"Yes, I understand. And yes, I am old enough." Hell, 31 was plenty old enough, right? Not that she looked it. She lifted her chin a little, "I tell you about kidnapping when I am ready. T'at only t'ing I ask. Still hard for to talk about. Don't remember all." She sighed.
"You should know also t'at I am now teacher here. So... I be here a lot." A nod was given. She let her gaze calm a bit as it settled on his face once again. "Anyt'ing else, sir?" She would then wait for him to reply to her.

”Three things.” Sam said holding out his fingers as he counted them off. ”You don’t call me sir. Sam is fine or if you want in the field Cold Steel or CS. I’m not a sir. A gentleman maybe but no sir.” Sam smirked and nodded his head before continuing. ”We all have secrets, you don’t have to share anything you don’t want to. People might ask but you just tell them it’s your business unless you want to talk about it. That goes double for the kidnapping and experimentation. You aren’t the only one that went through something like that so when you are ready there will be someone to talk to.” the second finger went down as he pointed to himself.
”Third. I lose my shirt often. Torn, burned or ripped. It happens hell sometimes my pants go with it and I’m not the only one. Gawain and Maya seem to have a similar issue. Don’t let it be a distraction.” Sam smirked and then got up and offered his hand to Xavia. ”Good, I’ll be seeing more of you then.” he then walked over to behind his desk and then sat down and pulled the whiskey out.
”Oh yeah.” Sam said as he opened the bottle and set it back on the desk, ”You’ll begin self defense in with me in six hours. I’ll also have someone alternate with me in training you to hone your abilities. Wear something you can move in and don’t be late.”
"Okay... Sam..." She said in regard to the first two things. Her brow raised as she listened to the next thing... Really? Did he go there? Apparently he did. Her face immediately became a poker face for a moment, knowing that this was about to get fun. Xavia slowly stood, then let her eyes "boldly" trace over his bare chest and then back up to his face. A slow and almost seductive smile curled the one side of her lips upward, and she lowered her voice to a purr, unable to help herself... "I am not one who needs to worry, dear. It will be ot'er way round." And then she smirked. She wasn't even being serious, he might miss the humor in her gaze though.
The plant mutant then extended her hand in a friendly manner, "I be here." Regardless of whether he shook her hand or not, she would head out of the office, though pause at the door and give him a serious look, "One t'ing for you, Sam... I do not mix business wit' pleasure." And then she gave a smirk and was off.
