The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Character
Personality: Kenzi is generally a nice person, as long as the person she is interacting with is a mutant. She is among those mutants that believe that mutants are better than humans, so she tends to view human lives as expendable and would like to see mutants rule over them. She also likes to torment humans for fun when she can but does not do so when on the job.
She is generally pretty upbeat and fun to be around but she also holds a dark side. She will not hesitate to use her powers on anyone who stands in the way of what she wants. If she wants it, she will do almost anything to have it, including killing people, but only when absolutely necessary. She prefers to use distractions or knocking people out and walking away. Killing is too messy and leaves a body trail.
Kenzi takes a while to truly trust a person, but once she does, she is a true and loyal friend who would go above and beyond to help or protect her friends. Very few people really get deep into the inner workings of Kenzi and what makes her tick, only someone that she loves like family would ever get to know her dark past.
Kenzi is also a bit of a smart aleck. She will make witty comments, crack jokes and poke fun at people and their comments or actions. She also naturally uses pet names when speaking to people, especially men. She knows she’s attractive and she uses that in her arsenal of available weapons.
Hobbies/ Interests: Kenzi’s favorite hobby is picking on the human populace, but she also enjoys going out clubbing, watching movies, playing video games, committing crimes, and causing mayhem. Kenzi is also fond of dancing ballet, but only does so when others are not around since it takes from her dark and tough exterior.
Job or part time job and description: Kenzi works in a tattoo parlor as the receptionist.
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: There is very little that Kenzi fears. Her powers have saved her life and proved to be useful in many situations. She fears that people only want to be friends with her so that they can use her and her gift to their advantage. That fear causes Kenzi to lack forming trust in people.
Special talents: Kenzi is good at picking locks and cracking safes. She has quite a few gizmos and gadgets at her disposal that allows her to infiltrate almost any building. She is also fairly agile thanks to years of ballet training.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Kenzi is generally on the bad side. She’s not mean to those she likes, but she’s not a good person. She will do what she feels is right. She takes what she wants, does what she wants, and hurts who she wants. She is however loyal to her friends. -5.5 on the evil scale.
Mutations
Mutation description: Tattoo Projection – Kenzi has the ability to touch a tattoo and replicate it into a life-like construct with her mind.
- The constructs are made of her psychic energy and work according to her knowledge of the subject. So if she is not familiar with a weapon, it will be weaker then it’s real counterpart, or not work at all. So if she made a scythe and was not familiar with one, it would break easier. For something more intricate, like a gun, if she doesn’t know exactly how the components fit together and work, she cannot make it fire. Animals and humanoids will act based on her knowledge of that animal or humanoid.
- She can only project tattoos of objects, animals, and humanoids that exist in the world. Creatures that are mythical, humanoids that are mythical or from lore, or objects that are futuristic, cannot be projected into a construct. Elements and tribal style tattoos cannot be projected either.
- She cannot project any tattoo that is larger than an average human. The larger the constructed projection, the more her energy drains. Humanoid and larger animal constructs last about 45 minutes to an hour. Smaller animals last about an hour and a half to 2 hours. Very small creatures, insects, and man-made objects will never last more than 3 hours.
- She can only project tattoos that are realistic looking and proportionate. The projections will match the colors of the tattoo she uses. Colorless tattoos will be projected in black and white. The projection will match the tattoo, so if the pirate tattoo she uses is missing legs, so will her projection.
- Her projections are fairly brittle. For an animal or humanoid, a simple stab wound or fracture will destroy her projection. For an object, a dent or crack will destroy her projection. Her projections are as durable as her knowledge of the tattoo subject. The less she knows, the more brittle they are.
- She can only summon 6 projections a day and she cannot summon the same projection twice in 24 hours. She must also stay within 20 feet of her projection or it will vanish and she can only use one projection at a time.
Strengths: Kenzi’s mutation has almost endless possibilities. If it can exist in the world today and she has the knowledge to make it work, she can summon the projection. Her summons can be used as distractions, to fight for her, or as weapons. As long as she has knowledge about her projection, it can be strong and helpful. Her mutation allows her to be resourceful and useful in many situations.
Weaknesses and Limitations: Kenzi has a limited amount of summons a day, so she needs to pick her summons wisely or she could waste them all and end up powerless. Her projections leech energy from her body so she needs to eat regularly to keep her strength up. The bigger the projection, the faster her energy drains. She cannot summon the same animation twice in 24 hours, so if she uses her gun, she has to make her shot count because she only has one, she cannot summon another gun for 24 hours. She can only summon things that could exist in the world today and they have to be realistic looking tattoos. If she uses her own tattoos and is then around people that don’t have any, or any that she can actually use, she will be powerless. She can only have one projection at a time. She needs to be within 20 feet of her projection or it will vanish. If her projections get damaged or their time limit is up they will vanish as well. If she is knocked out her animations will vanish.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: Kenzi has the same physical abilities as a human would have. She is slightly more flexible and agile from the years of ballet she took growing up.
Fighting Style: Kenzi’s fighting style is to improvise with whatever she has available. She will generally rely on her powers to weaken or distract her foes and just run away unless she needs to kill them, then she will either kill them with her powers or use whatever she can get her hands on while the enemy is weak or distracted. She prefers not to kill people unless absolutely necessary. It’s just too messy.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: The pros are if she has viable weapons and the energy and summons available, she has a decent upper hand, the cons are if she is weakened, out of summons or no viable tattoos to make projections, and without any sort of weapon, she’s at the mercy of her foe, unless she can manage to out run them.
History Of Your Character
Kenzi was born in Lexington, Kentucky on January 5th, 1990. She was the only child of Mary-Jo and Bernie Castleman. Her father had named her since her mother had been asleep when the doctor came in with the birth certificate. Being the redneck hillbilly that he was, Bernie took his daughter’s eye color and his favorite song, ‘Black Velvet’, and mashed them together to make up her middle names. She always hated him for that.
She lived a fairly normal childhood in her small home in the city. When she was five years old, her parents enrolled her into ballet classes because she was fascinated with the Nutcracker Ballet that played on the TV every Christmas. She quickly caught on and excelled at ballet. Her room was filled with ballet posters and trophies from competitions. She was your typical little pink ballet princess.
As Kenzi grew up she started attending school while continuing her ballet classes. Her parents would enter her into every ballet competition possible and expected her to win. This was extremely stressful for a little girl who just wanted to dance for the fun of it. This was also the point when the little pink princess started to turn into the dark queen that she is today.
Kenzi started to lose a lot of her ballet competitions because of all the pressure she was under to do well in school and in ballet. Seeing Kenzi losing competition after competition, made Bernie extremely angry to the point that he would beat Kenzi and lock her in her room for hours on end. She would be covered in bruises and cuts all over her body which she had to hide from people at school and her ballet teachers.
She started wearing gothic style clothing and wearing heavy makeup. She avoided social interactions and became rather withdrawn. She even got into fights in high school with the popular girls. Her only solace was ballet; it was the only place she could express herself and feel safe, so she spent a lot of her time at the ballet studio, avoiding going home.
One night when Kenzi was around sixteen years old, she snuck out of her room in an attempt to run away. Bernie heard her rattling the locks on her door as she tried to pick them and came storming out into the kitchen and waited for her. As she tried to sneak by, Bernie grabbed Kenzi by the arm forcefully and started dragging her back to her room. She clawed and screamed, fighting for her life. Bernie slapped her and threw her into the wall before grabbing her arm again. She screamed again and she tried to pry her arm loose from Bernie’s grip, touching the snake tattoo that he had on his forearm. Her eyes turned solid white as she screamed at him to die. A black fog started to form in her hands and dropped down to the floor, the cloud started forming into a real snake. Bernie and Kenzi stared at the snake she just created as it hissed and slithered around on the floor. Kenzi commanded the snake to attack and it suddenly lunged at Bernie, sinking it’s fangs into Bernie’s neck before wrapping it’s body around his neck and squeezing. He started to hack and cough, tossing Kenzi to the floor as he tried to pry the snake off of his neck. Keeling over onto the floor, he clutched the snake around his neck before reaching out to Kenzi, his eyes pleading for her help. Kenzi stood up next to him, looking down with her white, lifeless eyes, and continued telling him to die, the snake squeezed tighter. It wasn’t long before he was lying on the floor lifeless, the snake squeezing so tightly it crushed his windpipe and suffocated him.
Mary-Jo came running in to find her husband dead. She freaked at Kenzi once she saw the snake and Kenzi’s lifeless white eyes. She ran at Kenzi and grabbed her by the throat, trying to choke her while screaming at her, calling her a freak of nature. The snake released Bernie’s dead body and wrapped itself around Mary-Jo’s legs. Looking down she started screaming and grabbed the snake and pulled it off of her legs before slamming it against the wall. The snake hissed and vanished into a puff of black fog. Kenzi took that time of distraction to run to the kitchen and grab a knife from the knife block that was on the counter and ran back into the hallway. Kenzi glared at her mother with those white eyes and used the knife to stab her mother to death.
Feeling weak and tired, Kenzi showered, packed up her most prized possessions, and left her home after she burnt the place to the ground. The police never came after her, they had no evidence that she had done anything so the fire was labeled as an accident and she was able to go on her way. She got a job working in a tattoo shop and saved up her money while renting a cheap room above the shop. Kenzi had become good friends with the owner and eventually told him about her power. He was shocked but he liked Kenzi, so he didn’t send her out. Instead he used her ability to draw customers into the store, getting them to get more realistic and more expensive tattoos with the promise that she would project them. She learned about her weaknesses, what she could and could not summon, her limitations, and how her knowledge affected the summoned projection.
Kenzi spent the next few years studying different items that could be useful tattoos for her to have. She spent hours in a weapons shop up the street, playing with the daggers and guns, getting the feel of them. She took pictures of the dagger and gun she liked the most and had her friend at the tattoo shop tattoo them onto her. She got the dagger on the back of her left forearm and the gun in a garter belt on her left thigh. Trying to give herself the ability to fly, she got a pair of black angel wings tattooed on her back, but she never was able to project them. She also became fond of a black whip that hung on a wall in the weapons shop. After learning all she could about it, she snapped a picture and had it tattooed on her right hip/buttock area.
Now at the age of twenty-three, Kenzi has managed to have a nice little nest egg. Her parents hadn’t left her a thing so she had to do it on her own. She left the tattoo shop she had been staying at and hopped on a bus to New York. With a bit of help she was directed to the Sanctuary for mutants where she has been given a room and managed to get a job working in a tattoo parlor as the receptionist, the perfect playground for her powers.

Sample RP: Kenzi stood in her new room at the Sanctuary and sighed. This was going to be a different place that was for sure. She hoped that moving away from Lexington was the right idea; she hoped that she wouldn’t regret it in the end. Just then a man’s voice interrupted her thoughts.
"Hey lady, where do you want this suitcase? It’s heavy!” A brawny man stood in the doorway holding the suitcase that held all of her worldly possessions.
“Oh just put it over there on the floor by the dresser, Sugar." The pale gothic girl replied, her long black hair in pigtails today.
The man nodded and placed the suitcase on the floor by the dresser with a thud before turning back to speak to the tiny woman. “That’ll be fifty bucks lady.” He said while holding out his hand expectantly.
Kenzi looked at the man for a moment and noticed the tattoo of a pit-bull on his shoulder. She giggled and walked slowly over to him. She pressed her tiny form against him and looked up at him for a moment with her icy blue eyes. “Fifty bucks seems kinda steep don’t cha think?” She said as she glanced over to the perfectly inked dog tattoo. She overted her eyes as she ran her fingers over it, her eyes turning solid white under her lids.
The man shuddered under her touch and smiled. “Have something else in mind little lady?”
She nodded and stepped back, a black fog flowing from her hands to form a pit-bull that matched the man’s tattoo. She shot her eyes up at him, the white, lifeless eyes that were triggered by her mutation. The man paled slightly and she petted the dog who was now growling. “I think you are going to run out of here screaming and forget all about the fare.” She said with a smirk. “Or I can sick Sparky here on you.”
The dog started barking and the man screamed as he ran down the hallway. Kenzi laughed and flopped onto her bed. The dog looked at her and awaited her next command. “Good boy, now get lost.” The dog suddenly turned into a puff of black fog and melted away. Kenzi smiled and sighed contently. She had a feeling she was going to get along just fine here.
