The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He hit it at an angle that proved to provide the least possibly injury, hit it with his back, and kept moving. The force of the blow had been intense. Had he not absorbed most of it with his purple shield, it might have proven fatal. The shield, of course, was gone. That had been an eye-opener. He was sure he'd have headaches about that, later. But now really wasn't the time for headaches. You see, he'd just been hit by the impact of a very large fist, which had sent him sailing across a room in an office complex, into a glass window, which had shattered, and was currently falling as tiny shards of glass around him.
To your average passerby who looked up, it might have seemed like someone were jumping. It wouldn't be a bird. It wouldn't be a plane. Someone, with their back facing the ground, was falling, surrounded by glass, wearing a blue suit that if given further investigation, would have been determined a police uniform. The average passerby was unlikely to sleuth that detail from ground floor, several floors below the fall. They might have thought "oh." or "Oh no." or "That really sucks for whoever is falling", but they certainly weren't going to determine 'Police uniform.' And they really wouldn't have had any idea what they were seeing, when they saw it in the sky.
Can one really call the space around a skyscraper 'sky'? One would suppose so. 'Dead air' would seem a more fair description, as there are no clouds, no distractions, other than space and wind. Chill, direction. Wind. Air. Fluttering by one's ears. And, in this case, glass. But those thoughts were unimportant. He'd already torn his attentions away from such silly things as those, yanked it away from 'headaches', and definitely away from fear or pain. Yanked, yoinked, yinked. He had a psychic creation to create on his back.
Full shard armor takes time. He'd been practicing it for a while. It had various forms and appearances, narrowed down to whim, and whatever mood he was in at the time (which could also be described as whim). It took concentration, and it took time. It was good he was not going for the full suit of armor, here. He just needed to cover his back.
It looked like 100 emeralds, miniscule in scope, appearing upon the center of his back. 100 turned to 1000, which multiplied even further, from center, up to shoulders, around the base of his neck, and crawling down to his lower back and ass. The back of his legs soon followed. Emeralds, tiny. Rounded. It happened as he fell, and then... he just stopped.
Tetsuya Shinbo opened his eyes as he hovered in mid-air, in what may have been deemed 'sky' by some of the citizens of New York. He was in a police uniform, he was on duty, and now, most importantly, his. Head. Hurt. He'd finally gained the time to realize that. His chest also hurt to high heavens, but he'd take that in stride and group it with his head in a little triangle folder in the back of his mind labeled 'Pain.'
By the open-air window in the office complex he'd just been in, a hulking gorilla stood complacently. His red tie fluttered against his chest in the wind. Behind him, the Asian's partner, Schafer, lay on his back, unconscious, all manly stubble and angular jawline, with broken goggles on his head.
The plant mutant was minding her own business, meandering along the pavement and weaving through the masses without a word. The sound of a crash overhead went ignored… That is until she felt the sting. It was like the crowd gave a collective gasp, some probably raising their arms to shield or skittering out of the way. Not Xavia though. Broken glass was like glitter upon the sidewalk and street, sharp confetti being strewn about beneath the one who was falling toward the earth. She looked down at her forearm to see a knick or two, and then looked up with a puckered brow only to see someone falling… No, floating.
She was damn lucky that she wasn’t directly beneath him, she would have been more severely injured than a mere knick indeed. She frowned as she cupped her hand over her eyes, not recognizing the armor at all, nor the person clad in it. He was pretty far up anyway, so making out his features wasn’t really going to happen. Even further up, she thought she could see another figure looming in the window that the floating man flew out of, but she couldn’t be sure.
The woman ignored the murmur of the crowd and took action, ducking to the side of the building to look for a fire escape to scale and hopefully get a closer look. None… What the deuce? No fire escape? She looked around in bewilderment, finding it more odd to see no ladder than she found seeing the man in mid air!
She ground her teeth and rounded back to where the glass had fallen, the heels of her motorcycle boots crunching loudly upon the debris. Annnd into the building she went, no more planty footing it around.

One by one, he took mental note of the important things. He was breathing. He was several hundred feet in the air. He hurt all over. And, the ape man was still present. As the gorilla turned and stalked back into the room, Shin turned his mind to coalescing more armor. He used the pain to aid in his concentration. He let that be a positive factor.
Slowly, more green armor smoothed out over his form.
He wasn't sure what the gorilla was up to while he hardened his battle armor into something similar to a suit you'd see on a Japanese action show, but whatever it was, Kamen Rider Shin Ichigo could handle it.
Back in the room, the gorilla scooped up the lady he'd been kidnapping, swept out the room, and toward the stair well. Less people would see him on the stairwell. His princess could struggle and scream all she liked.
Xavia darted through the front door of the building, and gave a cursory glance until she saw where the stairs were. Forget elevators, they made her uneasy. It was about halfway up the first flight that she heard the sounds coming from above, it seemed that someone was in trouble. Her pace quickened and she took the stairs two at a time while concentrating a little on photosynthesis. Her skin roughened and then hardened into a bark like armor, but it would take the time she spent scaling the many stairs getting to her destination.
A good, several minutes passed before she was facing the beast and the beauty, and she looked at the pair with a glint in her caramel gaze. What could she do? Her main focus had been to help the man who was floating outside, but she seemed to have a more pressing matter at hand. Besides, the two people were in the way of her getting to that floor where she could help him.
“Stop!” Her own command even surprised her. She hardly ever got into this kind of situation, she was always the one running away. But did she really have a choice? No. She concentrated harder, spreading her feet apart and ducking her head a little, sweat seeping in the form of sap while she was in this half-plant form. Branches and tendrils of vines began to curl away from her, she was setting her trap.

What impressed the ape man most about this sudden obstacle was that this did not seem to be anyone from within the building. Having worked here in management, he knew pretty much everyone. That meant this person was likely from outside the building. Why would she come in, then? Well... maybe she saw something of the little show he put on with the pesky police? That meant she'd just come up several, several flights of stairs. She had to be tired. Oh well. Pity. He turned, and left her to her own devices, calmly retreating upwards into the building, to the next level, and through the door. He'd take an elevator. Yes. That seemed wise.
The woman over his shoulder struggled. Meanwhile, Shin was still concentrating... no. Wait. He was done.
The ape hadn't been with his partner. People in the office had pointed down. Not to the elevator, but the stairs. Stairs? Really? They'd been insistent. Especially when he told them he wasn't some freak vigilante from an anime series, and really was one of the cops from earlier, just in a cool costume. "He went down the stairs, you idiot. Please do your job," one person had kindly stated. Shin clomp clompingly stompingly obliged.

The call came when Quin was on her way to the station. She'd gotten the scanner for her car about the same time she'd gotten the car. Public transport just hadn't been cutting it, and Quin was tired of giving Ashton gas-money. (He tended to argue.) In rare moments of self-reflection, she even admitted she liked to be the one behind the wheel from time to time.
The call was only a few blocks from where she currently was, so Quin snagged her hand radio and reported that she would make her way to the scene. The next call went to Ashton, but he didn't answer his cell. That was fine, she could go it on her own. As she drove, Quin concentrated and the vest in the seat next to her rose and wrapped itself around her body. The straps could be tightened later. For now, she just wanted to be ready.

He'd smashed the door to the stair well behind him, turned the handle so it would never work again. That'd keep the minor annoyance from appearing in his way again. Stepping away from the door, the ape man looked around for the elevator. Again, wise move. He was liking this decision more and more. The woman kept on struggling, but her blows were like brittle chimes in a wind storm. They were as nothing. Tinkle tinkle.
A few floors up, Shin was wondering where the hell the stairs were. He'd looked around, looked for signs, hadn't found any. And he was getting really tired of the glares people gave him when he looked at them, as if to ask. Yeah, he'd finished his emerald costume, so what? Now, he was solidifying it to look more like something out of Kamen Rider, complete with a flowing red scarf. The only thing he'd left off was the helmet. He'd make that, later. He didn't feel like tinkering with eye view dynamics that very moment. Everything he'd done would help with absorbing impacts. His headache was starting to go away, too. That was good.
To hell with it. He'd use the elevator. He slammed the button, noticed the sign for the stairs, and glared at it. Then his eyes rose to the light displaying what floor the elevator was currently on. They noted 9. He was on 12. Hm... his eyes shifted back towards the stairs.
****
Ding! The elevator doors sprang open. Ground floor. Gorilla man grinned, as he looked towards the exit doors straight ahead... the grin swiftly faded as they hit the Asian man in green armor, between him and his goal.
"You got down here fast..." The gorilla noted cautiously.
"Yeah, well... someone threw me out a window." Shin replied. "And ultimately, I thought 'hey. That's a pretty good idea.'"
The gorilla man's eyes shifted scathingly away from him as the sound of doors opening caught his attention. He sighed.

The glass had crunched under Quin's feet as she jogged towards the building. There were already two mutant cops on the scene, and people were steadily filing out of the front doors. Since that's where the people were exiting...that's where the redhead figured she needed to be.
At some point, she'd managed to pull her hair into a ponytail and her gun was in her hands, safety off and ready to fire. It probably wasn't as impressive as what the other two cops were doing, but it was the best she could do and it was pretty damn good.
Through the doors Quin went, senses on high alert to take in all the information she could, as fast as humanly possible. They locked on the lobby, the layout, the places she could use for cover, the guy in the armor....and then the monkey dude with the chick slung over his shoulder.
"Holy shit...." she muttered, then got with the program. Quin planted her feet, raised the weapon and started to shout.
"Police! Put that woman down and lay face down on the ground!"

As if he'd simply give up and go like that. The visibly rolled his eyes. And using a gun, too? He reached forward, and grabbed the human shield. This was such a minor nuisance. Did she actually think he didn't have a counter?
Shin's eyes bulged a little as the ape man squeezed his waist... not enough to kill. But enough.
"No, actually. I insist. Put your weapon down." His oily voice commanded.
The woman kept pounding his shoulder. She'd never really let up.

And then the armored wonder became a human shield.
Awesome. Quin rolled her head from side to side a bit and sized up her shot. She was good. In fact, she was really good. If the X-Nerd hadn't gotten himself picked up, she might have even been able to end this before there was any more drama.
But nope. That's not how things worked.
"Fine." she said, arms going out to the sides, powers working to warp all the plastic parts inside it so it couldn't be shot. She'd need a new side arm, but it was way better than the alternative.
Quin moved slowly and smoothly, gun dropping to the ground and skidding out of reach. Now she didn't have a gun, but...

The ape did not notice the warping on the plastic. He was good. But he was not that good. Then again, he wasn't really the 'gun' type. If he were to use a gun... where would all the barrel producers find work? ... Yes. He could make light of his appearance, and tiny Italian plumbers from video games.
"Get out of my way," He answered smoothly.
He wasn't planning to turn his back on the woman. He wasn't planning to drop his guard on the Asian in his hands, either. The Asian in the lobster shell. Ah, to need a nut cracker and not have it. He gave the man another debilitating squeeze as he swept towards the woman with red hair. His next step, as he planned it, would be around.
