The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Ah, but the point of the exercise is to see and witness how mutants of all walks of life live and how they are treated. As I mentioned, there is a decision I am thinking on making and the information and experiences would be most useful in helping me to make the decision one way or another," the Czech man said, being a little bit evasive in what he was saying. He did not exactly have a desire to advertise yet that he was considering going through all the steps that would be necessary to run for the Office of Mayor of New York City. Of course, Mariusz harbored no illusions about winning in such a race. But he assumed the novelty of an open mutant running for the office would generate media buzz and draw the issue of mutant rights and racism against them to the forefront of the political discussion, perhaps even nationally.
While he waited for Tses and Ty to answer him again he went ahead and finished off what was left of the sausage he had purchased for himself before taking a sip of his water. "It looks like the game will be resuming soon, and they did not sell out for this game against the Jets. I would imagine we could find three seats where we could all sit together," he said, gesturing towards the stairs that led down to the seats in the stands.
Tses shrugged slowly, and sipped her water. Her and Ty certainly fell into an other category when it came to walks of life. With her limited knowledge of things beyond street life, the last thing she wanted was someone picking her brain about her opinions on literature or something silly like that. Anything that made her admit she couldn't really read was a blow to her ego.
At the mention of sitting together though, she glanced at Ty for his reaction. While they had been there sort of spur of the moment, the last thing she wanted was to make him feel like Mari was intruding on them. The well mannered bird-mutant seemed to be dragging them along for the ride, and she wasn't sure how she felt about it just yet. "Well, what type of stuff are we supposed to tell you exactly?" Tses asked. She pushed her hair from her face and waited for some sort of gesture from Ty about what to do. Follow the bird man, drag Ty back to finding their seats, miss the game? It was way too complicated for her brain right now.

"Heh, living as a street kid is hardly a walk of life. Nine times out of ten you end up running," Ty answered. "I guess we could sit together, at least til we can think of something you wanna know," he said lightly, taking Tses by the hand and following bird-mutant.
"Though I gotta ask...what is this decision?" Ty asked, out of curiosity. For some reason, he didn't have a very good feeling about this, but only an answer would confirm or deny his suspicions. But only time would tell.
"I would like to hear anything you are willing to share, Tses," he said, turning his attention for a moment solely on her. "I am not seeking to learn all of your secrets or anything like that. Still, anything that you are willing to discuss or show me would be very much appreciated," he continued, leading them down a row of stairs until they were able to find a spot reasonably close to the ice where they could sit together and continue to converse.
The feathered mutant had been rather hoping to avoid a discussion on what he was thinking about doing since he still hadn't fully decided whether or not he would do it. Still, since he was asking questions of them it seemed only fair that he, likewise, be forthcoming with information as well as it would be rude not to. "The decision," Mariusz said, slowly and deliberately, "is regarding whether or not I should run for Mayor of New York City this fall. I would need to get my citizenship by then and accomplish any number of other things, and I doubt seriously that I would win. But, if it draws more attention to the issue of mutant rights then it will be a success."
As they moved, Tses felt Ty's hand slip into hers, and gave it a small squeeze. Normally, she would protest to such a public display of affection, but her emotions were so unsteady lately she felt like having his hand was at least giving her some support to get through the tough spots. Her hand shook on and off, as thoughts flickered through her mind, and when they made it over to their seats Tses fiddled with her bottled water. "I just don't think I've ever seen people treat me different because I was a mutant. Most of them just treat me different because I'm me. Oh, you get the occasional person treating you like a 'freak', but it feels more like an extremist reaction than the norm..." Tses shrugged.
"I've seen a difference in the mutant community though. Lots of people talk about mutants as a group, like it's a pack and they are out to protect 'their own'." She said, trying to think of something else he'd want to know. As they took their seats, Tses listened to the bird-mutants response to Ty's question, and listened to the answer. Mayor.... seemed, important, or sounded like it would be, but Tses wasn't familiar with political systems enough to recognize what the position meant. To her, there was only the basic hierarchy of things: street kids, citizens, and then the authority. And the authority were just the jerk cops who tended to get in her way. Tses shot a small glance at Ty, trying to sort out what that meant without admitting her lack of knowledge.

The fact that the bird-man was focusing his attention more on Tses made him feel even more jealous than before. He'd always had sort of a protective streak, and that coupled with his Georgia-blood made him even more jealous now, to the point where he felt the little hairs on the back of his neck stand up. In fact, Ty noticed that for the most part, his questions and comments seemed to be getting lost in the wind.
His blood was starting to boil a little, though he tried his best to choke down this jealousy. Reminding himself that Tses chose him after all, and given her personality, there was no way anyone else could muscle in. Besides, he was enough trouble for her, heh.
Then, Ty found himself tensing a little more as they sat down. Okay so maybe that explained Ty's initial bad impression. Politician...Great.
"Mayor, huh?" Ty asked, looking at him. "That could cause quite the controversy. Though I see the significance it would have for a mutant to try for such a position..." He murmured, trying to look on the positive side of things. Sadly, from his knowledge, he felt all politicians were full of it. Airheads who were willing to spin whatever line of BS they had to for a seat of power. But maybe this one was different...
Then again with all the attention he was putting on his girl...one couldn't be too careful.
"Yes," Mariusz said, turning his attention to Ty. "I think it would be a very good thing for a mutant to run for mayor, even if they were to lose. It would force mutant rights to the forefront of political discussions, especially if that mutant were to win by some miracle." he said, nodding his head. "But, I want to be able to make an informed decision about running and, to help in that process, I have been asking everyone I know to tell me what it is like for mutants here. I want to know, for example, if things like what I saw on ViewTube are common occurrences or not and how mutants from all walks of life live... things like that."
Tses felt a small frown form on her mouth at the mention of the video, and she took a sip of her drink chewing her lip slightly. The first time she'd seen that video, she'd been sitting in a restaurant with Ty, shortly after a confrontation in a grocery store with a few irritated men. The end result had been an accidental shooting, and some of her first real moments when she realized she cared about Ty. It was hard to have so many good and unpleasant memories mixed together around the event, but that was kind of the way her and Ty's relationship worked. Nothing was ever just 'good' or ever really just 'bad'. It was a roller coaster around both emotions.
"I can't say I've had the.... best encounters with law enforcement, honestly... Police make mistakes, people try to defend themselves. Shit happens." She said, then looked away slightly. Last time she had a run in with the cops they landed her in the hospital, and she spent almost a month recovering from it. She was definitely not excited to ever cross paths with them again, but she didn't know if that was, again, just her unfortunate experience with them because of her rather criminal activity, or because cops were just jerks like that.

"Yeah, me neither, really," Ty replied, shrugging. All the while he was biting back his feelings for politicians. "Life just goes about as I've known it. There's the occasional human who's out to get us, but hey, you get used to it. Some cops are just gung-ho." He gave another shrug as he stuffed his hands in his pockets.
"Crap happens. We just learn to deal. But I think that goes for everyone, no matter who or what you are."
Mariusz considered the answers given by Ty and Tses for a few moments before responding. From what he was getting from them it didn't sound as if the situation for mutants here in the U.S. and New York City was really all that terrible. He had been getting a similar sort of feeling from other people he had been talking to.
"It does not sound to me as if the situation is nearly as bad as what the internet video would make it appear. Perhaps a more appropriate question would be to ask whether or not you think the mutant community would respond favorably to one of their own running for the Office of Mayor," Mariusz asked, striking a bit more at the heart of whether or not he wanted to run for mayor. If the community didn't seem to be in favor of it then he would probably abandon the thoughts of running.
Tses sighed, and tried to think about what he was asking. She pushed her hair from her face, glanced at the game, looked back at Mari and then finally shrugged. "Honestly, I don't care who the mayor is. Doesn't effect me, I don't really pay much attention to it. But I bet you can ask some of the people at the Mansion where you're staying. They're more involved and could probably tell you." She was being fairly polite, all things considered. Normally she'd just probably say something snarky and let it go.
"Hey look, a fight!" She said, jumping to her feet with the rest of the fans as two of the players broke into a fist fight. Honestly, it wasn't the most impressive fight she'd ever seen. One guy had a terrible right punch and should work on it. But the other guy succeeded in drawing blood. "Hit him again!" She yelled along with the crowd.

Ty shrugged. "Maybe it's not as bad, but who's in charge isn't going to change anything, I don't think," Ty said bluntly. "I mean, people are going to do what they want, regardless, be they human or mutant or otherwise. Technically, regardless of rules or laws, you can do whatever you want. Just know that some actions have a price to go with it." He shrugged again, stuffing his hands in his pockets as the fight broke out and Tses drew her attention to that.
Ty glued his eyes on it as well, but he was torn between 'Oh dude, a fight!' And 'Oh yay a distraction!' Hard as he tried to be nice...Ty just didn't like politicians. Even if this one did have feathers.
Mariusz, like Ty and Tses, turned his attention to the ice as he thought about what the other two mutants had said. It seemed that neither of them felt strongly one way, or the other, about politics when it came to what he was thinking about doing. He was only a little surprised by this since he had come to notice during his time in the U.S. that many Americans seemed to be politically apathetic. Although, perhaps they were both so used to politicians doing nothing for them that they had simply come to accept that even a mutant politician would be of no use in helping things.
As he was thinking over all of this he watched the fight develop on the ice between his countryman, Radek Martinek, and one of the players on the opposing team. First they dropped the sticks, then the gloves, and then the big Czech defenseman leveled the opposing player with a heavy right cross that dropped the other player to the ice. The refs moved in, separated the two men, and sent them both off to the penalty box for ten minute penalties.
"That is how we do things in my country," Mariusz said, indicating the victorious Islanders player. "We meet our problems head on and then we overcome them, with brute force when necessary."
Tses didn't hear much more of the conversation if it continued once the fight started. Her world seemed to pause as everyone cheered for a good brawl, her somewhat aggressive personality fueled by the concept of battle. The first few punches seemed to be a little unsteady, then one of the hockey players was leveled with a solid punch. Tses could appreciate the force behind the punch, the solid thunk of fist to flesh, the graceful slide of figure meeting ice...
She wished the whole game could be like this. Boxing must be even better. "I meet my problems head on, too, but society seems to think that's problematic. I guess if you had that view when you're in office it could be fun though." She considered for a moment.
