The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Mariusz wandered around one of the concourses of Nassau Veteran's Memorial Coliseum, the home of the NHL's New York Islanders franchise. The Rangers may have been the better, and more popular, hockey team in the city but the Islanders had a Czech player on their roster and so they had won his allegiance. Obviously, the Czech man was going to follow the NHL now that he was in America and he was quite pleased to have found that there was a team in New York with a player from his homeland. That had made the choice between the Rangers and Islanders an easy one to make.
The feathered man wandered in the direction of the concessions areas of the arena with a white, orange, and blue Islanders jersey. The team's logo was large on the front of the jersey and, on the back, was the number four and the name "Martinek" for Radek Martinek the Czech Defenseman that played for the Islanders. He had modified it slightly to allow for his wings which emerged from just underneath the name bar and were furled at the moment giving the affect of neatly framing the number four on the jersey.
As he wandered he took in everything that was available, thankful for being both quite tall and having excellent vision. Spying a sausage stand a short ways away he was just making his way there through the concourse, which was crowded with people as the game was during it's first intermission before the start of the second period. He was almost in line when he spied someone familiar a short way down the concourse. She was a blonde woman and she was with someone that he assumed was the boyfriend she had previously mentioned.
Moving past the line Mariusz walked up behind the woman and the man and then reached out and tapped her on the shoulder. "Excuse me, but I do believe I know you Tses... what are the odds that we would, once again, run into each other purely by accident," he asked before turning his attention to her companion. "And you must be the boyfriend I heard about in our last meeting. I am Mariusz Kasparek," the feathered mutant said, offering a hand to the man to shake if he so desired.
Tses was not a sports fan. She never watched a game in her life, and didn't see the practical use for most athletic events. But, after the stress she faced earlier the week, she was desperate for any form of distraction. Ty had heard of a hockey game coming up, and thought it could be fun to go to, and Tses agreed only after the promise of violence. So far, it had been pretty uneventful. They got their tickets, and were looking for their seats. They were arguing playfully over where section A was, when she heard a voice from behind her. She felt her eyebrows arch with surprise. Turning, she saw the bird mutant Mari, and felt a half smile half smirk trace her face.
"Mari. Didn't peg you as being a hockey fan." She said, crossing her arms. She nodded slightly, and turned giving Ty a little shrug. "Yeah, this is Ty. Ty, this is, well, I call him Mari, you can try sayin' his name if you think you can. I ran into him in New York a few weeks back." She said. She didn't mention it had been New Years. That was one night she tried hard to forget. She watched Ty's face, looking for his reaction to the new arrival.

Ty chuckled, shaking his head as they tried to find their seats, though he was starting to somewhat question his judgement. Not that they'd ever been to a hockey game before in his life, but he did hear fights broke out quite a bit. And hey, maybe it'd be something nice to do with her. The redhead looked over at his girlfriend, grinning playfully. "Tses, I'm sure section A is--"
Ty quirked a brow at the....newcomer. Okay his politeness seemed sort of...really....creepy at first, but Ty shook the hand. "Nice to meet ya Mari-yoose?" he attempted, his natural-born southern GA tongue tripping over the name. "Mari." He stuffed his hands in his pockets, looking around awkwardly.
"Hockey, and other winter sports, are all quite popular in my homeland. Hockey is the most popular though," Mariusz said in answer to Tses as he shook hands with Ty. "I have never really been able to play, of course. My mutations being what they are I would be at a considerably higher risk for injury than most other people," he continued,t he dark feathers on his wings ruffling a bit. "I was most disappointed to find the league was on strike when I arrived, but now that the strike has ended and the season is on once more I knew I needed to come and see the best hockey in the world played."
"I suppose you are special, as am I," the Czech man asked, turning his attention back to Fisher and lowering the tone of his voice so they would be harder to overhear as they spoke. It was obvious that the winged and feathered man was a mutant and he knew that Tses was one as well, but since he was not aware whether or not Tses had shared the fact of her mutantness with Ty he chose not to mention to him that he knew she was a mutant too. Of course, there was little Mariusz could do to disguise the fact of what he was.
"So," he said, standing back up straight after making his remark to Ty, "What brings the two of you out to the Islanders game tonight," he asked, making polite conversation while eying the concessions stand behind them. "Would either of you care for something to eat," he asked, gesturing to the stand he had been approaching prior to noticing them. "I noticed they offer kielbasa and I admit a certain curiosity to see how food from my native region is handled here in America."
Tses settled back and watched the interaction between the two men. This was definitely a first for her and Ty. After his disappearance, and the events that followed, they had little time to discuss what happened while he was away. Well, beyond the whole carjacking thing, but that was more for kicks than anything else. The whole build a bear story? Yeah, she was pretty determined to keep that one in the closet as long as possible. It still killed her ego. While they stood, Tses felt her hands shaking ever so slightly, a nervous tick she hadn't been able to shake since her kidnapping. She was glad her arms were cross because it kept it mostly hidden, but in the back of her mind, worries started to flicker to the surface.
At the question, her attention was turned back long enough to stop her thoughts from drifting too far. "I am a little bit, don't know about Ty. We just got here though so we really haven't stopped to grab anything yet. She said, glancing to Ty.

"Special," Ty repeated softly, thinking over the past few weeks. Oh he was a piece of work, but the redhead know exactly what Mari meant. "Yep. Guess that makes us like a ragtag version of the three musketeers," he joked quietly, cracking a grin. His eye was almost fully healed by now, but his eyes still showed that his inner wounds hadn't completely gone away. His emotions had taken quite a beating, and it wasn't Tses's fault.
"Honestly we got bored. Thought it'd be something new and interesting to do to relax," he answered, looking at Tses. "Actually I'm not that hungry. Though I wouldn't be against a little snack to tie me over." Well, if this guy was okay with Tses, he had to be alright. Mostly because Ty knew how Tses could be around most people.
"I suppose that would make me the Aramis of our little group," Mariusz said with a shrug of his shoulders. He did not suspect that Tses or Ty were likely to be all that religious whereas, within the Musketeer novels written by Alexandre Dumas, Aramis was fairly religious even if he was a Jesuit. He led them a short ways back in the direction from which he had come until they were in line at the snack stand.
"How is it that you are just now arriving," he asked. "The game is already a third of the way over. The Islanders are down 2-nothing, though Martinek has made a few nice checks into the boards." He gestured to the name on the back of his jersey before continuing as the line moved slowly forward. "Nabakov's not having the best game, let an easy one in through the five hole."
"Also, I think that since you introduced me to something American... those hot dogs, it is only fair that I return the favor with something from my own native land," Mariusz continued, changing the topic to food. "Have you ever tried kielbasa?"
Tses blinked at Mari's question, and chuckled slightly. While she didn't really smile her mouth had a slight curl to it that was positive enough. "Well, like I said, it was kinda a spur of the moment decision, and then Ty lost one of his shoes... well, that and we couldn't find our way around this dumb place." Tses rolled her eyes, and stuck her tongue out at Ty. Then she glanced back as Mari kept talking.
"Sounds...interesting... Although I actually don't understand much about hockey. Kinda just hoping for a fist fight." Tses said honestly. She shook her head as the topic of food came up. "I haven't." She sniffed the scent of food as it drifted to her nose, and she put her hands in her pockets. She was dressing in jeans and a t-shirt, and her arm bands were a grey color today. She got some new fabric out for the cloth wrappings, and she liked the comfort of material.

Ty chuckled at the reference, though remembering Tses couldn't exactly have ever read the book, he let that part of the conversation drop out of respect for her. He blushed slightly at the reason for them being late, and gave a small, innocent shrug.
"Yeah, like we said it was just a random impulse, heh..." he murmured, looking around awkwardly. He was sort of starting to feel like the odd man out between them, like he missed something. He stuffed his hands farther into the pocket of his jeans, trying to ignore it as he shook his head awkwardly at Mari's question, though he didn't really think it was aimed at him.
He didn't like this. An unsettling feeling formed in the pit of his stomach, and it showed in his deep blue eyes. Ty was having his first bout with jealousy, and he had to wonder if this was how Tses felt the day she saw him walking with his long-lost sister...
The line moved again and the trio found themselves at the counter and ready to order. "I need three kielbasas with sauerkraut, please, and three bottles of water," the feathered man said to the attendant. The food and drinks were promptly presented onto the serving counter and Mariusz paid for everything with cash, picking up his sausage and drink. "Here, grab and go," he said, indicating that Ty and Tses should take the food that was for them.
While they were grabbing their food and drinks he moved over to where the condiments were to clear out of the way of other people that wanted to get something from the stand. "The traditional way of eating these is to add spicy mustard," Mariusz said, suiting action to words by applying a generous amount of the mustard to the sausage. "I am actually rather pleased I ran into you. I have a few questions I would like to ask, about life and mutants living here in America."
While they waited, Tses tried to act normal, but her mind was starting to race again. It drifted back to New Years Eve, and the snowy cold waiting for Ty to return. Then it moved to her time spent captive and locked in the trunk. It was like invisible walls were closing in ever so slowly, and she was eager to get out to watch the game. The line was too slow, the foot was taking too long.... she had to move, had to go somewhere, do something, distract herself. Without thinking about it she reached out and snatched Ty's hand with hers, and gave it an uncomfortably tight squeeze. Her face showed none of her fear, but her fingers trembled ever so slightly against his. However she knew he would understand what was going on. Ty was good at picking up on things with her by this point, and even when she didn't say what she felt, he still seemed to know.
As the line reached the front, she let go to reach for the food, and stared at the new cuisine. Tses was rarely picky when it came to food, so she didn't mind that Mari ordered for them. She gave a little shrug to Ty, took the hotdog like item and the water, and took a bite of it plain. It wasn't bad, although it tasted a little different. She was just glad to have something to do. She opted out of putting any toppings on it, and glanced back as Talon talked again.
"Well, not sure how many questions we can really answer..." Tses said. She genuinely disliked when people started asking questions because inevitably her lack of common book knowledge would start showing itself. Like the Three Musketeers. She had no idea what that was, and was glad they didn't linger on it long before.

Ty forced the feelings farther into the pit of his stomach, holding Tses's hand and stroking it gently with his thumb. He'd learned all too well how to read her--for the most part, at least--and tell when she was scared or upset. From her shaking fingers, the man knew she was suffering backlash from being locked in a trunk again.
When Tses let go, he grabbed his own food, loading his own with the mustard before taking a bite. Moments later he was holding nothing but his water, not being known for eating all that slow. "Yeah...I mean I'll do the best I can to answer whatever questions you may have, but unless it's street knowledge or something like that, I don't think we'll do much good." He gave a small shrug.
"I was actually rather hoping to be able to get as complete a picture of how mutants live and are treated here," Mariusz said, taking a bite of his own kielbasa. It wasn't quite the same thing as what he had been used to growing up, but it still wasn't bad. Other than the sauerkraut. The sauerkraut was barely worthy of being called food. "I have read books, of course, and experienced some things by seeing the city and living at the Mansion. But, I would like to have a more complete picture and, I hope you will forgive me here, but I should like to see and know how the other half lives. I am still on the fence about a decision I was thinking about making."
"This is not quite as good as the true kielbasa from back home but, aside from the rather deplorable sauerkraut, it is really not too bad," Mariusz said, changing the topic a bit to get back to food as he took another bite of the kielbasa. "I suppose you must have been hungry after all," he said to Ty, noticing that the man had already completely devoured his food.
Tses felt rather confused by Mari's statement. As she ate her own food, she tried to process what he was saying. She wasn't sure what a 'complete picture' would be, and how she and Ty saw how mutants were treated would definitely be different from other people, at least in her opinion. Some people had to go to work and school with humans and try to function that way, so they were more susceptible to long term interaction. Tses just stole from them regardless of whether they were human or not, and typically didn't run into the same person twice.
Then again, she had human neighbors and people that she got along well with who were humans, and at the same time there were humans she hated like the cops that put her in the hospital and the man who created her problems with claustrophobia. She could pick out negative and positive feelings to talk about if she wanted to. As she finished her food, she shrugged, letting Mari finish talking about the hot-dog like dish for a moment before responding. "Well, I don't know how great an example we would give you. I know I'm not the most outstanding citizen, and that sort of effects the outcome of how I'm perceived... People don't necessarily treat me different because I'm a mutant, more like they just treat me different because I'm a jerk." She smirked a slightly crooked caty smile, and took a swing of the water in her hand.
"You caught me on a good day. You should see my charming disposition on a bad one. Ty can vouch for it." She was curious to see if Ty would admit to her being volatile or not. While she'd done no real lasting damage, he had been on the receiving end of some flying silverware on at least one occasion.

Ty shrugged, grinning slightly. "I'm generally not one to waste my time eating," he explained. Mari continued speaking, and Ty tried to understand every word he was saying. To an extent, Ty had book-smarts, mixed in with six years worth of street-smarts.
Though he had to chuckle at Tses's answer. "Yeah, I'm sure not everyone is as tolerant of flying spatulas and oven mitts, heh," he joked lightly.
"Though I'm not exactly a model citizen either. Most people who don't like me or treat me like crap probably do it because they don't like me as an individual." He gave a slight shrug, trying to think of a way to be more helpful.
