The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

She chuckled as she poured herself a glass of milk "You sound like I did on my first morning here. All dressed up, looking for food, and no idea what is where" she smiled at Audrey, smoothing her locks back behind her ear. She was wearing a hairpin made of pure silver, in the shape of a rose. "But don't worry, you'll get to know the place quite soon. And the people around here are really friendly." She winked at Shana. She got herself a bowl of cereals too, and turned back to Audrey, picking up on the small talk "So, where did you come from? I mean, before the jewelry shop" she added with a smile.
She raised an eyebrow with curiosity "That sounds like something I could use... I'm just beginning to figure out the things I can do. Or could, in most cases... Want to tell me more about those classes?"
There was the sound of footsteps in the hallway, and an early-morning Jewel came into view. Apparently, the anxiety of the first few days wore off, and she was more than comfortable with walking around as she got out of bed - which right now meant messy hair and pj's. Oddly, she was already wearing her bracelets and necklace though. She stopped when she saw the girls, and blinked sleepily. "Oh. Good morning!" she smiled "Good to see you out here, Audrey. Feeling better?" she looked at the blue-haired girl, and for a second she was searching for the name in her memories "Shana, right?"
"That's... sad" she looked at him "Your powers are not even dangerous to others..." unless you want them to, she thought, but right now that was not the point. Here was another situation where she couldn't really decide what to say. "I'm sorry. It's good that you are at home here, though." she smiled at him. She was still holding his hand too, although she didn't quite realize that.
"Take it easy, Audrey..." she smiled at the girl; looked like she would soon fall asleep "Um, your name is Audrey, right? We didn't really get a chance to introduce ourselves" she smirked "Anyway, it's a pleasure to meet you. Now sleep. You need to rest."
She looked up at the other girls, and nodded when Fade admitted she was an X-man. She could see her question surprised her, and smiled a bit "People talk about things, you know. And my parents... made sure they knew as much about the school as humanly possible, before they sent me here..." she sighed "Looks like they made the right choice. I have a lot to learn..." she murmured to herself. "Anyway, there is not much we can do right now. Or, in my case, not anytime soon, but that's another story... I think I need to sleep too, I'm exhausted..." she yawned.
Now there was something to smile at - cool guy blushing. Jewel suddenly felt more at ease than through the whole conversation. She knew better than to make a comment on the blush, though - she just chuckled when he took her hand, and didn't pull away as she followed him to the living room. "So... why did you come here? To the school?" she sounded curious.
(ooc: Should we move the thread, or just keep going?...)
"I know. I'm grateful for being down there" she pointed at his hands "I'll try my best to deal with the rest" she smiled a bit. "Well, so far I've managed to find my room, the bathroom and... food. I've seem the offices when I arrived. Everything else is off the map. So, why don't you show me where people hang out?" she finished her milk, and washed the glass and the cereal bowl "Shin promised to tell me about the classes too, but we didn't get that far." she smirked as she dried her hands. She walked back to the table to pick up the silver rose; under her fingers part of it turned into a hairpin, and she adjusted it behind her hear "Ready?"
Jewel listened to Fade - she could tell the girl was not telling them everything, but right now, she was grateful for that. As for Davis: "I don't think he is in a hospital. When I got him out of the shop, he wasn't hurt. Just scared." she said "But the... girls kept saying they were going to go after him. And his family. They won't need much time to find out where he lives. If he is smart, he's with the police right now. That's what I would do." she added; then thought about it. Probably not. Still, if she would be a human... "I was thinking... I know he hates mutants, and after today, I can't really blame him either, but... I think I could talk to him." Jewel fiddled with her bracelets "He needs to know not all mutants are..." she didn't find the right word. Savage? Desperate? Cruel?... "Um, I mean, we saved his life. And I could help him... get his shop back together." On second thought, that didn't sound that well. "Just... thinking." Something occurred to her, and she looked up at the redhead "Are you a... how do they call them... an X-man?... um, woman?" she asked shyly.
"Nice to meet you, Fade. Nice to meet you, Shana." she smiled at them - it was good to get to know more people from the Mansion, even under these circumstances. She listened as the two girls talked, glancing at Audrey once in a while, just to check she really was doing fine. When they talked about their attackers, she was thoughtful for a while "The one with the aura... she was very young. A teenager, I mean. And still, she was... so determined. Ready to kill anyone... if we fought, we wouldn't have stood a chance." Jewel bit her lip "It was frightening... Is that what that Order does?" She looked up "They are going to go after Davis. The owner of the shop. And his family. He hates mutants, but..."
Jewel blinked, surprised, then blushed again. Figures. She was in a school filled with people with strange abilities and powers, who was she to think her problems were bad, compared to others. She was more than relieved that Streak took it so easily, though. Great, Lily, you're the drama queen. She smiled a shy smile at Streak. "Yeah, I guess that's all. I mean... with people like me, the press is all over the story. I just didn't want to drag my parents through the whole thing. It's not like I wanted to be a thief..." she didn't really know how to explain it. She grew up protected and yes, spoiled, and doing something like stealing sounded like a pretty big deal. Back home. It didn't sound as bad right here. "It's okay. I know most people had it worse." she shrugged, and smiled again. Time to change the subject. "So, how about that mansion tour, hm?..."
Jewel bit her lip. She remembered all the talk she had with her parents ("It wasn't your fault, darling"), and the whole process of being admitted to the Institute. She was still ashamed of the whole story, and talking about it felt... difficult. She glanced at Streak. He was nice. And willing to help; so far he's worked really hard to gain her trust, she could tell that much from their conversation. And she was stuck here anyway; the school will be her home for years to come maybe. They will find out, sooner or later. Maybe it would be better to get it over with now. She blushed again, and stared at her hands on the table. "I am under police surveillance, and I can't leave the campus unescorted. I was sent here instead of being sent to prison." she said with one breath "I... used to be a thief." There. She said it.
"That sounds like fun" she smiled "I still haven't seen most of the Mansion. And I tend to get lost." as he mentioned NYC, she blushed and looked away "Um... let's just stay on the mansion grounds, okay?... Going off campus is a bit of a problem for me..."
Jewel looked up when the girls came in; she expected that people will start coming in and asking questions soon enough. She had seen the girls before in the Mansion, but hadn't talked to them yet. When Audrey woke up, she turned her attention to her "It's okay, you are safe. I brought you to the Institute. They healed your wounds..." Apparently Audrey was still confused, and although she remembered the fight, Jewel felt like she owed the others a somewhat longer explanation. "We were in the City, and a jewelry shop got attacked by two... mutant girls. They wanted to kill the owner, because he hates mutants... one of them had metal claws... and the other had this strange aura she used as a weapon." apparently Jewel was still frightened by the idea "I just... happened to be there, in the shop, when they came in. And Audrey, she was there too, and we... um, tried to protect the owner. I helped him get away, while... Audrey fought them. But they were... very strong. And Audrey got hurt. And I... um, I talked our way out of it... I just... tried to stop the fight. The one with the steel arms, she offered to take Audrey with them, because they had healers... and they didn't want to kill us, because we are mutants too... but I brought Audrey here instead." She looked at the visitors, and remembered to introduce herself "I'm Lily, by the way... most people call me Jewel. I'm a new student here..."
Hey, the new girl (Jewel) just returned from a fight in New York City, and brought another new girl (Morphia) with her, all covered in blood and in a pretty bad shape. They are in the Infirmary.
Thread's open for everyone in the Mansion - we'll need someone (in charge) to show up and ask them what happened. And to figure aout what to do with Morphy (so she can stay, eventually ) So come any play!
Jewel sat by Audrey's bed in the Infirmary, waiting for the girl to wake up. DocProf has just left. He seemed like a very kind person; he healed most of the girl's injuries, and told Jewel her friend will be all right; she just needed rest. Jewel hasn't met him before, so she introduced herself, and he talked with her for a while, making sure she calmed down after all that happened earlier today. The fight in the jewelry store. Jewel was sure most of the people in the Mansion had already heard the news. The police was all over the story (as was the press), for one; and then there was the fact that Jewel and her parents arrived in the mansion with a strange girl covered in blood, and rushed her to the Infirmary. There was going to be a lot of talk. And a lot of questions. (Jewel's parents were already talking to the police, mainly telling them they couldn't talk to their daughter right away, because she needed medical attention. That wasn't quite true, but oh well.) Jewel looked at the sleeping girl. She only knew her name (DocProf told her that much). She wondered is she had made the right decisions. She sighed. Well, she'll find that out as soon as someone showed up to ask what the hell happened.
