The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Finally. Being introduced to people at parties was something Jewel used to deal with on a daily basis. "Good evening, everyone." she smiled at the others "I am happy to be here." She really did look happy. Jewel was the kind of girl who shines in a friendly company. She chuckled at Streak - he did his best with the introduction, and she was getting used to him doing things like that. Kasumi, the birthday girl, seemed really nice. Plus apparently she was Shin's girlfriend, and that meant she must be someone special. Jewel smiled at her too. "Happy birthday, Kasumi. Nice to meet you too. That costume looks wonderful, by the way... It might make me interested in anime after all" she chuckled. She listened carefully as Kasumi talked about her powers. She looked really interested.
"I guess not" she agreed with a frown "They wanted to take Audrey with them, though. They said that even though we fought them, we are still mutants, and they offered her medical help. They have a healer, they said." Jewel tried to remember the important things that were said; she was smart enough to know that even though it all seemed a mess to her, some detail might mean more to Streak. "The fact that we are mutants might have been the only reason they let us go alive. I mean, we didn't really stand a chance." she frowned again, she didn't like that part. She bit her lip. "Um... when the fight started, I pulled all I could from the cases - you know, anything my powers could grab. But it's not like I could have done any damage... so, uh, I just... talked our way out of the fight. Kinda."
"Ya know I try not to judge people on who they bring to the mansion." That earned him a smile. Jewel was much relieved he didn't take the whole thing too seriously. If she doesn't have to talk to the police, even better. She nodded at his question, and tried to remember. "Well, one girl - Audrey says the other one called her Meld, or something like that - she had her limbs made of metal. She had claws on her hand, and one of her eyes was... weird, too. She was the one that slashed Audrey in the fight." Jewel shuddered at the memory. "The other one was... very young. A teenager. And she had this... pink aura that she used to... form weapons. She could cut mostly anything with them." She was silent for a while, thinking about Aura. She still couldn't wrap her mind around someone so young being so cruel. "They were strong and... they were determined to kill Davis. And his family. They talked about how mutants are superior and humans should be all killed..." she looked up "Fade came to the Infirmary. She mentioned some group called the Order. She thinks they belong there..."
Jewel walked in and closed the door behind her "Good morning, Shawn" she smiled at him, but still, she looked nervous. She sat down, her hands resting in her lap, and thought for a while - where to begin?... "Um... you must have heard that I brought in a girl last night. Her name is Audrey, and she is a mutant..." she bit her lip "I should've come to you sooner... there are some things you should know. Um... Audrey and I were in a fight yesterday. In New York City..." her speech sped up as she was trying to organize her thoughts "We were in a jewelry shop and we got attacked by... two girls. Mutants. They were after the owner of the shop... he hates mutants, and they wanted to kill him for that. I just... happened to be there. Audrey, too. She fought them, and got hurt, and needed help, so I brought here here..." she took a breath to slow down. "I was out in the city with my parents. Now the police wants to talk to me as soon as possible about what happened... but I thought I'd come to you before I do that." she was silent again for a minute, thinking about what she missed "The owner... he escaped. I got him out of the shop when the fight started... that was pretty much all I could do. So I'm guessing he is with the police now too. The girls threatened to go after his family." She looked really nervous about this last part. The memory of the fight and how scared she was was still quite fresh in her. It was not the violence, or the things she heard... it was the fact she'd never felt so useless before. She looked at Shawn, waiting for him to say something. She really did hope she didn't cause some serious trouble for the Institute...
Jewel never watched any anime (or played any V-games, really), but when Streak figured out what Cosplay meant and told her about the party, she felt like she should. At least to find a good costume. So she spent a lot of time in front of the computer, browsing, until she found what she was looking for. She was excited at the thought of a party. She really liked parties. And in the couple of days she spent at her new school, she did realize how friendly people were around here. She was a tiny bit nervous too, she didn't really know anyone invited, except for Streak, who volunteered to be her escort for the evening (and this time, there were no objections from the parole officer). So she ordered the costume, and waited for the big evening with a mix of anxiety and anticipation. Putting on the costume was more difficult than she'd thought - it was quite complicated. She managed to do it on her own though, which was a relief, and she had high hopes of being able to remove it on her own too, after the party. She looked at herself in the mirror. The dress was actually pretty, she liked it. She didn't have time to watch the whole movie (or whatever it was taken from), but she liked what she saw. She couldn't do much with the silver and gold in her hair, but oh well, at least the main color and length was right. She didn't have the staff to go with the dress either, but she didn't miss it. She arrived to the party with Shawn, and looked at all the other guests with a shy smile. She recognized Shin, and nodded to him in greeting; she also spotted Thor, and that brought out her real smile. She glanced at Streak, waiting to see if he'd introduce her.
She bit her lip; even though they talked about it, the topic still made her uncomfortable. "I didn't really want to steal jewelry. I didn't even know I was doing it, actually. I thought I was just using my powers to help the man I was working with." she sighed "I guess that's why I got off easy." Strangely enough, she smiled when he mentioned the fighting skills "I bet they can..." she was pensive for a minute, then "Sounds like fun. I'd be happy to come."
Jewel dressed in a hurry; she just got back to her room from the kitchen, where she made sure the girl she brought in - Audrey - was feeling better (and eating breakfast). She brushed her hair, not bothering to make any extra effort; she adjusted the jewelry she was already wearing, glanced in her mirror, and left her room. The day had just begun, and she had tons of things to do. First of all, find Silver Streak. She walked down the hallway to the offices (she remembered them from her first day here with Shin), until she found his office. She took a deep breath; she was a bit nervous about the whole thing. And even after a (not too good) night's sleep, the fight was still too fresh in her memory. She knocked on the door, and opened it halfway. "May I come in?..."
"A party? That sounds like fun" she smiled. She did like parties, and yes, it definitely would be a good way of meeting new people. "Though I have no clue what Cosplay is either. Maybe it's like a fancy dress party?..." she wondered. She smiled when he offered to be her escort "I think that would be all right. I have to check, but I'd say going off campus with the guy who manages the mansions security is as safe as it can get..." she chuckled.
"Too bad, I thought I finally got a roommate." she chuckled; she wasn't seriously sad about that, just wanted Audrey to know she would be welcome. "Yes, sure, we can hang out together..." "Yeah, small world." she smiled. When Audrey told her Shana was from Israel, she looked surprised "Wow, you got quite far away from home... I can imagine that is difficult..." When Shana asked about her powers, she chuckled. "Nope, not a telekinetic. I can control precious metals and gemstones. That's why people call me Jewel." she held out her hand, and made her bracelets change their shape and pattern "But I'm still learning to use my powers." When Morphia told them she was a shapeshifter, she looked surprised. "Wow. That sounds... interesting." she didn't really know what to say, but she was really intrigued.
"Mansion greeters, now that sound familiar" she smiled. When he told her he runs the security, she looked surprised. "Wow. No kidding. I can imagine that can be a challenge..." She walked with him outside, and chuckled at his question. "Here is a hint about getting to know me: take all your ideas and stereotypes about a rich girl, and most of them will fit." she grinned "You know, like ballet, French, piano lessons, ballroom dancing, whatever. As for sports... um, there was a lot. I played tennis... I did some fencing... I like horse riding too. And all kinds of water sports." she sighed and made a sad face "Horrible, right?"
"One of your jobs? What else do you do?..." she asked him, still curious "Um... we could go outside. I like to take a walk in the morning, Fresh air and all... That reminds me, what kind of sports do you do around here? I mean, besides the training. I miss daily exercises." she smiled a bit
"Train?" she was still trying to wrap her mind around all the things she learned about the school "You mean the use-your-powers-safely kind of training, or the save-the-world kind of training?" she smirked as she followed him to the infirmary (and she had no idea that in a couple of days this knowledge will be very very useful for her...). She smiled when he joked "Really, I appreciate that you take the time and all. It's much better than wandering around alone. Plus, how many tour guides would give me this?" she touched the rose in her hair.
"Danger Room?" she tilted her head wit curiosity - she tends to do that a lot, it's a bird-like, delicate gesture, and usually appears when she is thoroughly interested in something "Now that sounds like something my former education didn't include..." When he asked about the chuckle, it was her turn to turn pink on the cheeks. "Um, I don't really know. I'm just... enjoying myself, I guess. You are not half bad for a tour guide" and she chuckled again. It was a cheerful, genuine sound.
Jewel looked a little disappointed "Oh. I thought you'd stay... I don't know why I tend to get the idea that most mutants want to live in places like that. It just feels like a safe place. And a prep school. A very nice one. And I've had my share of those..." she smirked as she mixed milk and cereal in her bowl. She stopped when Audrey told them where she came from. "... Louisiana? No way!" she smiled a genuine smile "Which part? I'm from New Orleans." she seemed really excited about meeting someone from close to home... She jumped too when the silverware clattered on the table. "Whoa... telekinesis?" she looked at Shana "Nice. Um, that reminds me..." she was silent for a few seconds, focusing her powers; a tiny tinkling noise could be heard, and a silver earring appeared from under the fridge "Somebody must have lost this. It has been hiding there since I arrived, I just always forget to fish it out. Looks familiar?" she smiled at Shana. This was her way of saying she didn't mind her using her powers, even if it made them jump. Not at all.
