The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"They'll fall apart if you eat them fresh out of the oven," Aurum smirked.
He pulled away from the tray, sat down. Plucked one from the tray, and onto his plate. Daintily, he used his fork to get a brownie bite (licking the spaghetti residue off of it, of course). He ate. He swallowed. He liked.
"Oh, these are very good." He shook his head in the classic pleased Italian face. "Molto bene." If ever a foreign phrase fit, that was it.

They’d fall apart if you tried to eat them right out of the oven.
”I don’t mind.” she said, licking her lips and marveling slightly at the fact that these brownies were making her feel like a kid.
Apparently Aurum didn’t mind either, because he grabbed a fork, dished out a brownie, and set to eating it. Riley watched for his reaction, grinned, then grabbed her plate and fork so she could mimic his brownie retrieval methods.
Finally, she was ready. Riley forked up a piece of brownie and ate it.
”Mmmmmmm” she said, leaning her head back and closing her eyes for a moment.
”This was the best idea ever.” she said with a grin.
So, that was that. They simply had to eat pretty much the entire pan in one sitting. Or at least, several brownies each. While jazz played majestically in the background. Was that a good date? Probably.
Aurum was glad she approved.
Finally, the radio program changed, shifting away from jazz, to the news. Hrm. Aurum glanced the clock's way.
"It's getting late." He observed. "Guess I should drive you home." Luckily, he had a spare helmet at home. Heck. He might even lend it to her for the next time. He could always get Ami another one. Maybe she'd lost her biking privileges for a while, too.
Alas, alas, parting was such sweet-- who was he, Shakespeare? Aurum rose from his chair and walked up to the front of his apartment. The coat rack. He snagged his coat. Then, sparing a glance towards Riley, he decided.
It was a cold night. Sure to get colder. He could survive in his court clothes. She would just freeze in hers.
"Hey." He got her attention. "Catch." And, he used it. The coat sailed across the room lightly towards the woman.

Aurum went to grab his jacket, and Riley glanced at the brownies again. She supposed it made sense for Aurum to keep them. All of the ingredients had come from his fridge and cabinets.
He returned, called out to her, and Riley caught the coat as it flew through the air towards her.
She hadn’t worn a coat, and Aurum had noticed, and given his up so she could wear it. Nine or ten smart-alec remarks sprung to mind about independence and self-reliability. Only…she hadn’t worn a coat, and it was probably chilly outside.
”Thanks.” she said, slipping her arms into the coat. The sleeves..the whole thing…was too big, but she was going to be warm on the way home.
Once they were both ready, out the door they went, down to the garage. The arrangement was same as last time, exact this time, he'd procured a second helmet. One for him, one Riley. Riley's was Disney Princess-themed.
"My little sister." He explained humorously as he handed her the helmet.
Then, he got on the bike, and patted the back. "Hop on."

Disney princesses? Really? For a moment, Riley considered telling Aurum that he could wear the damn princess helmet, and she’d take the one that he was putting on his head.
With a dramatic sigh, Riley pulled her hair back and fitted the helmet on to her head. At least the stupid thing fit.
”Don’t say a word.” she muttered. Not that he would…but Riley felt like it needed saying.
Aurum patted the back of the bike, and suddenly, Riley was grinning again.
Onto the bike she climbed, once again glad for the presence of her stockings. Appreciative arms wrapped around Aurum’s waist and Riley held on tight.

The ride was cold, but Riley was warm in Aurum’s jacket and pressed up against his back as they made their way through the city. She’d been ready to give directions before they’d taken off, but Aurum hadn’t seemed to need them. Needless to say, Riley kept the directions ready for when he got lost.
Only…he really hadn’t needed them.
For some reason, the fact that Aurum remembered where she lived made Riley squeeze just a little harder for a moment before he stopped the bike and she climbed off.
Could he walk her to her door?
Riley pulled off the helmet and shook out her hair, offering it to him with a shrug.
"Hold onto it for a bit." Aurum pushed the helmet back her way. "You'll need it for next time."
He didn't tell her how he was withholding motorcycle rides from his little sister through this gesture. He didn't share that she was a part of Amelia's punishment. Mainly because... there would be a next time. And she probably would need it. How was that for convenience? Also, there was the little matter of needing a belt or rope or something to fasten it, and him not having that, so...
Aurum locked up the bike, then climbed off. He cradled his helmet under his arm as he looked to her with a genuine smile. Then, they started moving towards the front door, without even needing a 'lead the way'.
