The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Gawain always had this way of making her smile like an idiot and she definitely didn't mind.
Kate looked around thinking of what she wanted to look at first. She didn't need a new jacket or gloves, hopefully. She couldn't pick out shoes till she had a dress, which meant, "To the dresses then." Kate grabbed Gawain by the hand once again and walked with him to the dresses.
"To the dresses" Gawain agreed, following her; he didn't really have a choice since she was practically dragging him by the hand. Her skin was warm, or hot, really, a temperature that would mean certain death for a normal human being... then again, she was a fire spirit. That made all the difference.
"So, fire or not, you don' wanna wear red on a first date. Scares the guy away, or gives him some ideas." he smirked "Lucky for you, you'd look good in most colors." he looked around "Pick some you like, princess." he said with a smirk, letting her hand go "I'll help you try them on."
So, fire or not, you don' wanna wear red on a first date. Scares the guy away, or gives him some ideas. Lucky for you, you'd look good in most colors.
"Thank you, but red? Why can't I wear red?" Kate understood that different colors were appropriate for different seasons but they have meanings as well. This was defiantly going to take some time.
>>Pick some you like, princess. I'll help you try them on.
"I hope you mean you are going to give me your opinion when you say that." Kate just smiled at him, she was enjoying this playful game.
Kate walked through the rows and pulled out a bunch of dresses handing each one to Gawain as she did. She wasn't really looking at prices or shapes, but she did take great care to make sure that none of them were red, as that was apparently a problem.
"It's... um, very flirty." he summarized. He was not sure what the general social tradition was, but if he went on a date and the gal showed up in red, he surely would have taken that as a sign. Of having a very good night. "You said you're not sure it's a date. So."
>>"I hope you mean you are going to give me your opinion when you say that."
"Nah, I actually mean I'll go into the changing booth with you and help you see how it fits." he grinned "Mirrorwalker, remember? Beats hurting your neck trying to see your own back."
>>It's... um, very flirty. You said you're not sure it's a date. So.
He has a point. I mean I don't want to come off as the idiot who thought it was a date but what if I want it to be. I mean I like Andrew, but at the same time I barely know him.
Kate got so lost in her thoughts that she almost didn't notice Gawain say anything, and part of her had wished she hadn't heard him.
>>Nah, I actually mean I'll go into the changing booth with you and help you see how it fits. Mirrorwalker, remember? Beats hurting your neck trying to see your own back.
He could be such a little brat sometimes. This was no time to be, "Cheeky." But she had to ask him the serious question, "What if I want it to be a date?"
"I'm just embracing my inner brat." he shrugged with the grins till plastered across his face. He pondered for a moment about her question before he shrugged again.
"Guy usually don' need much convincing. Especially from hot girls like you." pun intended, however bad it was "You could just, y'know. Give him a hint. Or ask him, that works too. Or, you could use the greatest of all weapons womankind has invented to drag men to hell. Cleavage."

"I feel silly asking and I can't to cleavage because of the temperature thing as far as I know. So how exactly do you leave a hint? What kind of hint?" Kate was flabbergasted by herself, she was being so odd. Just because she was slightly attracted to a boy and she enjoyed talking to him she was obsessing over this. As she kept saying to herself, she barely knew Andrew. Maybe she just saw something in him. Or maybe, "Even if this isn't a date it will still be my first interaction with a boy in such a one on one setting."

"Oh. That explains things." he nodded with a smile "Most important thing, don't worry about it. Just go and have fun, you're gonna be fine. In the right dress, I mean." he added with a wink, ushering her towards the dressing rooms "And I'm sorry, I'm not sure how to flirt with a guy, I've never done that. Girls have their tricks, I suppose."
Yeah, maybe he was not the best person to give dating advice. His dating history was... well, quite unusual. Not bad, but not ordinary either.
>>Oh. That explains things. Most important thing, don't worry about it. Just go and have fun, you're gonna be fine. In the right dress, I mean. And I'm sorry, I'm not sure how to flirt with a guy, I've never done that. Girls have their tricks, I suppose
"You are really not much of a help at all are you?" Kate was nudged in the direction of the fitting room, her potential purchases pushed into her hands.
She closed the door making sure it was secure before beginning the process of undressing and changing into her first dress. She shivered at the nip of the room. The building was heated but it was still large and therefore couldn't' get to a comfortable temperature for Kate to have such a small amount of clothing on.
She hurriedly put on the first dress and looked at herself in the mirror. There wasn't much to the dress and if it was warmer it would have been at the top of her list.
Without thinking much more about it she walked out of the dressing room for her male companions opinion.
Gawain waited patiently for Kate to dress; he was in the booth next to hers. When he heard her wak out, he walked into the mirror behind her back, and slipped into her reflection.
"Over here" he chuckled as he saw her looking around for him. "I told you I'd come in. Before you ask, I waited till you were dressed. Knight, and all." he turned around, still wearing Kate's reflection, showing her how the dress fit.
"It's a nice one" he said, finally stepping out of the reflection and looking at her; he could see her shiver. "So, how many minutes would it take for you to freeze in this one? Three?"
>>It's a nice one. So, how many minutes would it take for you to freeze in this one? Three?
"To bad. I like this one. Maybe I will get it for the summer." Kate turned to look at the back of the dress in the mirror before deciding to most certainly get it for the summer when she could wear it with a little sweater or jacket and be perfectly fine, "Now shoo so I can change again."
Once she was sure he was gone she tried on the next dress. This one was a little more practical as it at least covered her shoulders.
"Now remember I can always wear a sweater or something if it is war enough inside." Kate said indicating she was ready for him to come see the next one.
After he had popped in and given his opinion once again she changed into the next choice. She was not making a decision until she had tried them all on. They they would move on to her favorite thing. Shoes.
"You look like a piece of cotton candy." Gawain declared as he looked at the second dress "Very sweet, though. Bit summer-y for this time of the year, though."
He made sure to leave the mirror before she undressed; not like it would have been something she'd never seen before, being Maya and all that, but at least on Gawain days he was willing to give new friends some privacy. It was a big step for a mirrorwalker.
"Uh, definitely not" he said as he looked at the blue dress "That's just... um. Fits perfectly, I mean." he added quickly "Do people really wear stuff like that?... It just looks like you're straight from Hollywood."
"Okay?" His answer was a little confusing and Kate could tell he was dodging what he really felt about it, "It's sweet of you to spare my feelings Gawain, but I brought you here for your opinion not for you to be overly nice to me."
Kate admired the fourth dress in the mirror thinking it was the best she had tried on yet. She loved the 40s reminiscent style of it. She always loved vintage clothes when she could find them. Most of the time she had to settle for something that looked but wasn't actually vintage, like this dress. Hopefully he wouldn't' say it was to summery again.
She waited once again while he gave her his opinion and then did the same with dresses five and six.
"I feel like I could dress this one up with some darker colored shoes and jewelry. Take some risks fashion wise." Kate told Gawain as he judged her sixth look.
>>"It's sweet of you to spare my feelings Gawain, but I brought you here for your opinion not for you to be overly nice to me."
"Y'know I've been called many things in my life, but 'overly nice' is rarely one of them" Gawain chuckled in the other booth "All right, I swear to be brutally honest from now on, m'lady."
Dress number four.
"I like that one" he said with brutal honesty "It's not as flirty as the others, but definitely coy."
Dress number five.
"Nice cut, but, I dunno. Is that even a color?"
Dress number six.
>>"I feel like I could dress this one up with some darker colored shoes and jewelry. Take some risks fashion wise."
"Yeah, live for the danger, princess" he grinned, turning around wearing her reflection once again "You like this one, don't you. It's classy."
>>Yeah, live for the danger, princess. You like this one, don't you. It's classy.
"Oddly enough I do, but there are still to more. Off with you." She shooed him once more and put on the 7th dress. She knew he would comment on the fact that is was once again strapless but that seemed to be the style at the moment and there was nothing she could do about it.
After he had left she spent a moment staring at the last dress. She had grabbed it as an afterthought and wasn't even sure if she really liked it. It wasn't her usual thing, but like Gawain said, 'live for the danger.'
She slipped it on with ease and examined herself in the mirror before calling over her not so manly companion.
