The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The Ranger landed a pair of strikes to Meld's neck, but the subsequent strikes were held off by her tail. All the while his vision continued to close in on him. The Ranger, trying to find some way to escape this situation, was fighting off the instinctual reaction to panic. Neither his legs nor his right arm could do much and his left arm couldn't contend with the tail.
The Ranger tried to move his limbs in ways that would give him an advantage over the limb that is holding them, but it was to no avail. The darkness closed in on the Ranger and he lost consciousness. His muscles that had increased in size due to his power returned to normal, and his body went limp.

The moment the strikes hit Meld's neck she wasn't terribly concerned. She knew there were certain places on the neck that could cause serious damage, of course, but even with her opponent's combat skills, how likely was it that he actually knew how and where to cause that sort of damage? A moment after that, howevever, she realized her mistake as her vision began to go fuzzy.
Meld could feel the energy of her oponent fading as his struggles got weaker. Spots began to form in front of her eyes, spots that shifting eyes didn't appear to help at all. She felt her enemy lose consiosness below her as the black spots before her eyes intensified. Staggering to her feet, Meld struggled to remain upright and fight off the effects of the attack. She barely hung onto conciousness as she fled into the night, a trail of blood behind her, leaving her enemy prone upon the ground.
Sara had been enjoying her night walk with Roxy. A German Shepard that Sam had given her several months ago. It was quiet and no one on the street had given her too much of a hard time for being the obvious mutant that she was. No Cat and dog jokes, (At least none that were said in Sara's ear shot.) Something that was rare and pleasant.
Then the silence and pleasantries had to be interrupted by gun fire. It sent Roxy into a barking fit on the sidewalk at Sara's knee as Sara was self rubbing her temples and ears. It had taken Sara a moment to quiet her dog, then shots rang out again.
It was the noise that drew Sara and Roxy's attention. It was curiosity that drove them to check it out.
It took Sara and Roxy only a few moments to get over where the small war had been held. Sara having been sure that they had taken their time. Sara healed. Roxy didn't and what ever was going on durring this mini war, was best to of been finished by the time the two furry tailed friends got there.
With her back pressed against the brick wall, and Roxy kept behind her on the other side Sara peaked around the corner. Her amber eyes taking in the scene quickly. Her ears flicked back and forth listening to one heart beat. Two bodies visible. One was dead. And the strong smell of blood made her nostrils flare. "Tough fight." Sara commented. Normally people who didn't heal didn't seem to fight that hard. The blood in the air didn't just come from one person. "And tough luck."
With the coast appearing to be clear, Sara lead Roxy into the alley way. Roxy went over to the man on the ground, nosing his face and pawing at his shoulders. She had a very insistant cold wet nose and slimy tong.
Sara picked up the weapons. The knife on the ground was pocketed. She found a gun, then moved to kneel right next to the man searching for identification, and glanced at the most obvious wounds, and pocketed any other weapons she might find along the way.
Meld's choke had been an effective one, the Ranger did not quickly recover and regain consciousness. Rather, he was out enough that a strange mutant was able to poke around him without drawing him back to the waking world.
The mutant, after collecting most of the Ranger's gear and pawing and sniffing him, sifted around for identification. In the Ranger's wallet the Ranger carried an army Ranger I.D, another military I.D. that had a logo faded into the background, and a Texas driver's license. Not to mention a large amount of cash that would have been used by the Ranger to restock his private armory.
After the mutant had collected the weapons and searched for identification the Ranger began to come too. A splitting head-ache, vision that would be blurry had there been enough light to see with out his power which was slowly activating to let him see infrared light, and pain in all four limbs from claws having dug in and his neck from Melds hand choking him. The Ranger was not immediately aware of the mutant and groaned as he brought his right hand up to his forehead.
Sara's first concern was to illuminate any possible threat to herself and Roxy while being in this alley way. The weapons were tucked around the back of her belt, and skillfully hidden under her long coat. (Safety on) If he cooperated and was nice, this guy was likely to get those things back. As was he likely to get his large amount of money back. Well most of it. Sara thought as she tucked a couple of the larger bills in her back pocket. He wasn't going to miss just a few bills.
It was the army identifications that made Sara hesitate to do more. Standing there with the ID's in her hand. Studying them, and then the man on the ground. People in ID's always looked so different from themselves, when they didn't have their eyes open. Then there was the fact that, one, he had a Texas Driver's license, and two What was he doing this far away from home with an army ID. Sara's lips pressed together. She should just leave him. It would certainly be a lot safer.
Ok so it was decided. Leave. The man was just starting to groan and wake up to so now would be perfect timing. "Roxy." Sara said. calling the dog to her knee as she moved to exit out of the alley way... The only problem was that the familiar padding of Roxy's feet didn't follow her own. "Roxy." Sara turned around and padded her leg. The dog lifted her head and moved her mouth while making a sound that would have sounded like talking had it been put together with actual functional words. "Come on Roxy. Walk. You know. You love these things."
Roxy stared Sara right in the eye and with a thump laid down. Nearly on one of the guy's arms.
Stupid Dog.
"Ok ok. I get it." Sara grumbled throwing her hands up in the air. Sara walked back just as the sounds of sirens in the distance could be heard. It seems that someone had called the cops after all. "Are you happy now?" Sara asked Roxy.
Roxy's tail thumped against the ground.
With a quick assessment, Sara decided that the injurries on the man's legs had to be taken care of first. Mostly because the moment she moved him, it was his legs that were, one the lowest point of gravity, and two, would leave a trail. Sara pulled two bandannas from her pocket and began to quickly wrap those wounds first. Tying them tightly.
The Ranger's head was pounding and his power was allowing him to see in the darkness but it was fuzzy, on top of that he still was not used to the way purely infrared vision appeared when not created by tactical hardware. He could hear someone talking but was unable to make it out. He could tell someone had moved away but another body, he assumed it was a dog, stayed near him. Just in case the Ranger moved his right hand back down to the ground to feel around for his knife, which was not there.
While the Ranger felt around for his knife which he could have sworn he dropped beside him, the voice continued and the first body returned. Ultimately the Ranger deduced his knife had been taken by someone, perhaps Meld, perhaps this person, or perhaps someone in between. Whoever this person was they were now tying his leg, tight. The Ranger assumed they were bandaging his Meld caused leg wounds.
"Wha... Who, who are you? The Ranger asked as he leaned up on his left arm.
The man moved to lean up, and Sara instinctual went to press her padded palm gently against his right shoulder to encourage him to lean back down. Sara had no idea who was the attacker here in this situation. She didn't intend on herself and her dog becoming another victim.
"Wha... Who, who are you?"
"Sara. If you really need a name." Sara told him. For a moment Sara lifted her head showing her feline face as she met the man's eye. After a moment she dropped the eye contact and her longer strands of hair fell over her face out of habit.
"Can you move your legs enough to walk?" She asked as she finished tying off the second bandage and Roxy shifted so that she was no longer leaning her body against the guy and she eased her way to her feet once again.
As the Ranger moved to lean forward the person bandaging him pressed on his right shoulder. The Ranger, not being in the condition to fight back, caved and laid back down on the pavement.
"Sara. If you really need a name."
Sara turned her head to look meet the Ranger's eye. Her face looked... different. The Ranger, still unused to this different form of sight, could tell the face was not normal and maybe even feline. He incorrectly chalked that up to the headache and infrared sight though.
"Can you move your legs enough to walk?" Sara asked when finished bandaging his legs and stood.
"Yeah, I believe so."
The Ranger pushed himself up and sidestepped to place a hand against the wall. His limbs worked fine, just pain, but the real issue was his splitting headache.
"Thank you. The Ranger said as he scanned the floor looking for his KA-BAR, Sig, and s&w 500. None of which he could locate.
Sara allowed the man to get up only after she had taken a few steps, respectfully away, herself. If anything stupid was pulled, Sara was going to be in control of the situation. Or at least she was going to do her best to control it.
Roxy on the other hand staid within a few feet of the man. Staring up at him with her tail swaying behind her. Mean while the sounds of the sirens were drawing closer. Sara no longer had to twitch her ears in their direction to hear them best. It was true that Sara had worked with the authorities before with Sam, but they still didn't like her. So staying around wasn't going to be a good idea.
Sara glanced at the end of the alley way trying to gauge how soon it would be before the police arrived. maybe two minutes. The three of them had to move now.
It took Sara two long and swift strides to make it to the man's side. She grabbed for his right wrist with her right and moved to put his arm over her shoulders so she could help support his weight and steady him. Not letting go of his right wrist with her right, she moved her left around his waist. All the while doing her best not to aggravate his obvious injuries. (She might of aggravated the ones she didn't notice yet.)
"I can move us much faster than you can right now. Resist me and I'll leave you in my dust for the police to deal with." Sara wouldn't be caught dead at a murder scene. though she came close once.
Sara began leading their way to the opposite side of the alley that the cops were going to show up. "And I was the one who picked up your weapons."
Sara stole a glance down the alley, it seemed she could hear something in the distance. The Ranger could hear the faint sound of a siren off in the distance, so faint had Sara not paused as if listening he wouldn't have noticed it yet. A moment later Sara, in two strides, was at the Ranger's side and she moved to become a human crutch for him, or a mutant crutch in this case.
"I can move us much faster than you can right now. Resist me and I'll leave you in my dust for the police to deal with."
The Ranger nodded, leaving the scene before the police arrived and things become difficult was preferable. "Alright, vamanos then."
Sara led the way to the far end of the alley, moving away from the direction of the police. "And I was the one who picked up your weapons."
"Better you than some hoodlum...an' can I have 'em back when we are done with the runnin'?" Sara was making the effort to assist him, he felt she wouldn't take his weapons and use them.
Sara was a little surprised to how agreeable this man was about moving. She weighed the possibilities that she was doing the right thing in her mind. He was at the scene of a murder, however quick observations on the dead saw no bullet wounds... She'd ask him more personally later... If she didn't like his answer well then, she didn't have to let him go.
"Better you than some hoodlum...an' can I have 'em back when we are done with the runnin'?"
Sara smirked. "Maybe." She wouldn't say yes and risk the chance of not keeping her word. She wouldn't say no either. The man hadn't proven himself guilty yet. Oh yes. Running from the police was a good thing...
Sara continued leading the way. She ducked them to the right of the back alley and down the side of the buildings till they reached the sidewalk again. The sirens were blaring, but they were around the corner. The cops would take a few minutes to secure the scene and those few minutes were all Sara needed to make both of them disappear.
From the street, Sara trotted across it, between cars. Roxy at her side, obediently right there safe because of Sara's careful timing, and the dogs training. The building across the street was left open, and there was a basement hall way that lead straight to the back.
"Do you know a healer? or should I take you to the one I know?" Sara suddenly asked once they had taken short cuts and moved quickly gaining three blocks in the matter of a few short moments.
The reply was better than could be expected, many would see to it that a person who was found at the scene of a murder did not see their guns again. The Ranger assumed that once Sara knew the truth of the event and that he came to try and rescue the man she would be courteous enough to return his armaments.
The leading continued out of the alley, along the side of the building, and eventually out to the sidewalk. The police could be heard quite easily, they could be heard. Thankfully securing the scene would take time, and based on the Ranger and Sara's pace so far, too much time.
They then crossed the street, as cars continued to drive down the road. The Ranger was no stranger to dodging traffic to quickly cross the street, but he had never attempted to do it while assisting an injured person with dog in tow, and especially not when he was the inured person.
"Do you know a healer? or should I take you to the one I know?"
The Ranger knew a few healers across the states, even one in New York. Though, they weren't exactly like emergency room doctors who happen to be on call. And besides this could be a chance to find a new healer in this city.
"Let's go t' the one you know. I don't really know any in this city."
3 blocks quickly turned into 5, then 8, then 11. Sara could move amazingly fast with little show of tiring out, when she wanted to. She'd become silent after the decision had been made about where they were going. Evey now and then her ears twitched and she'd paused at the corner of a building listening to the noises of the city and what was possible threads were closest to them.
Sara knew of three mutants whom she could get a hold of and who had the ability to heal others. Slate, who also had the ability to make individuals loose their liberties and not even know it. Though she worked for him on occasion, that put him out of the picture. Sebastian the unicorn man. As far as Sara knew, he'd become a bit if a family man. This hour would be late for him. So that left the lucky Doc Prof at the x-men's mansion.
Sara waited till they reached another alley way before she moved to lean the man against the nearest wall. Their view was blocked by a large industrial trash can so they should be safe from being sited by petrol cares for the moment. Normally the idea of dealing with the police didn't bother Sara. She always had the option of running and usually she didn't have a reason for them to talk to her other than her obvious mutation. Even then she had the option of running. At the moment, if they were spotted, she prefered not to have to explain why she was toting around a guy who was bleeding.
Sara pulled her cell phone from her pocket and held it in front of her face. She didn't like the ear piece right right next to her face and frankly she could hear her phone just fine thanks to her sensitive hearing that her mutation provided. She had a short conversation with the Doc Prof who seemed like she'd been the one to wake him up with the phone. She'd told him that she had a person who would require a ride to the mansion. She then gave him the address of where they were right then.
Roxy mean while stood guard and perfectly still between them. Her attention moving between the ranger, and the side walk outside. She'd done her job. She was a good dog.
Sara continued to lead them farther from the scene of the crime, before long they had traveled almost a dozen blocks. And they did it with amazing speed considering the Ranger's injuries, this obviously was a testament to Sara. Eventually they reached an alley where the Ranger was leaned against a wall, view of them blocked from the street by a dumpster.
Before the Ranger could ask why they had stopped here, Sara drew a cell phone out and, holding it in front of her face as opposed to by her ear, placed a call to some 'Doc Prof' fellow. She told him that she needed a ride for her and the Ranger and then gave him the address. All the while the dog was in guard mode, a fine example of a well trained dog.
The Ranger realizing he had yet to introduce himself to this samaritan spoke up, "Where are my manners, I'm being saved from a bad situation an' I haven't even introduced myself yet." He extended his hand, "I'm Michael."
Sara hesitated for only a moment in taking the man's, errrr ahh, Micheal's hand. It was the hole thing about touch. Helping someone out and physically moving them was different from the ideas behind a hand shake or a hug. Trust. It was something that Sara would always have issues with. "Well I'd like to say it's nice to meet you, Micheal, but the circumstances could be a lot better."
Sara's amber eyes flicked up to glance into his. The look on her face was as neutral as possible and her eyes had only been narrowed for a split second. "When things cool down back there, I will run my own investigation about what happened. I found you not far from a dead body, however most people don't stab them selves in the legs after killing someone." That and there was a third familiar sent back there that Sara recognized but couldn't put her figure out who it would have belonged to.
