The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He couldn't help but smile at her when she squished her face after he laughed about hopscotch. Streak waited for her to finish her statements before she he said, "How do you know is sleeping gets boring? Yer asleep! Or is it yer dreams that get boring?" Streak asked her grinning. Streak actually thought that it was odd that there weren't more people awake during this time of the night. Since mutants all had different needs with their powers, not all of them needed to sleep. He was one that needed sleep, just not a lot of it to function. Although he always did like the night because of the quietness of it and the sereneness of the outside. The cool breeze on his skin when he was on the roof top. The moon shining on the pool and on casting shadows over almost everything. But probably the best part was the amount of quiet time that he could think.
"Well I suppose falling asleep sitting down is a lot better than falling asleep when yer standing up or when yer driving." He said laughing along with her. Streak didn't realize it before, probably because he hadn't heard her laugh yet, but it seemed that he could not stop laughing while she was laughing. Finally his laughing subsided enough for him to continue the conversation. "There's always time to sleep in the day. Even if ya don't sleep most of the morning away, ya can always sleep the afternoon away." Streak said to her. He wasn't giving her advice just continuing their small talk.
Sleep was boring! Well, to Fade at least. Unless she had some crazy and fun dream, sleep was just a waste of time...that she would gladly delight in when she had to wake up. "Think about it, when you fall asleep, you just close your eyes and next thing you know, you're awake! And it's been a few hours of nothing that you remember! I'd rather have amazingly cool dreams. If I don't dream, it's boring," she shrugged, remembering her dream from the night before.
Fade decided not to mention that she had no idea how to drive. At least she'd never have to worry about falling asleep at the wheel. However, she could relate to falling asleep while standing, not like she's ever done it before...but she could definitely imagine what it would be like. "I'd kill myself if I was Sleeping Beauty..."

Streak laughed at Fades comments once again. He'd never thought of it that way. But once she put it that way he could understand it. "Well suit yourself but I still enjoy sleep. It refreshes me so that I can do whatever I need to when I wake up." He came back at her nicely. He couldn't help but think about some of the dreams he'd had. They weren't really dreams so much as his brain had been sorting out the days events.
He laughed again. "I'm not sure how possible that would be. If yer asleep you wouldn't be able to kill yerself. Unless ya had someone do it for ya. But then I guess it would be murder wouldn't it?" He said to her. He never really minded sleep even if he couldn't remember the dreams when he woke up. "If you don't wake up early then what have you been doing during the day when yer awake?" Streak asked. It seemed like their converstaion was slowing down, which Streak shought would mean that he would soon be returning to his seat in the War Room, and thus once again try not to fall asleep during thei uneventful night. He started to think of what he could say that would keep them talking and prolong his return to hiis station.
"True. Then again, if I was Sleeping Beauty, I don't think I'd be able to tell anyone to kill me. Don't think I'd be bored during those years of slumber, but I'm pretty sure when the prince wakes me up, I'd be like 'Holy crap! What year is it?'" Silly concept. Why was she still talking about a Disney Princess? Best stop. Prince Charmings were for little kids, or was Prince Charming Snow Whites man? Who knew...
He asked what she did while she was awake...which sort of confused the redhead. "Um...well I'm awake right now? So this is what I do, talk to people here at the Mansion, try to get back in the swing of things. Or Danger Room routines. Those are usually very fun," she shrugged. "So is it all work and no play for you? I take it this is your recess?" Not like she really knew what a recess was in the first place...

Streak started chuckling at her answer. She seemed to have had a lot of time to think about this answer. "Ya if you were asleep for a long time I doubt that you'd want to go to sleep cause you'd be afraid of never waking up again." Streak said. What they both said made a lot of sense. If that happened to him he doubted that he would want to go to sleep for a long time. "I bet once ya woke up you'd be super hyper also. I mean after sleeping for that long you'd be have so much stuff you'd want to do and have to catch up on. Just imagine the amount of movies you'd have missed from sleeping so long." Streak said. He liked watching movies and since he was up so often he found lots of time to watch plenty of movies that he'd always wanted to see.
"That makes a lot of sense." He said. He imagined that if he'd been gone this long he'd talk to people and try to find out what is going on as well. "A lot of times it is. The whole mansion greeter, head of security thing takes up a lot of time for me. But I manage to find some time when I can have some fun. But yer exactly right. Talking to you is my recess right now." He thought about that and he listened for the bell to ring so that he could go back to class. Fortunately there wasn't one and he could sit here as long as he liked.
Literally, she laughed out loud when he mentioned the amount of movies they'd miss if they were asleep for so long. Fade was thinking about any battles she'd miss, any changes in Presidents, any advancements in foreign affairs. Would there be an America left when she'd wake up? Would mutants and humans co-exist? Would food cook faster? Like those premade meals that you stick in some sort of machine and poof! chicken penne pasta? Of course, he thought about movies that came out? Ahahahaha! Then again, that whole foreign affairs, co-existing, apocolypse stuff seemed a bit too far. How many movies would she miss?
"Good point," she added, thinking back on some of the recent movies. I mean, she wouldn't even know what Transformers was if she were still asleep. How horrid! "How do you know when recess is over? Should I hide the hall monitor's whistle?" Good thing she watched enough television that she knew how recess was handled, she barely had any experiences with recess.

He laughed with her when he realized how silly his idea was about missing movies. Of course there were more important things that he would also be missing if he slept for a long time. He then stopped laughing as she started talking. They were were more silly questions than serious questions, which he really didn't mind. "That's a good question. I think I determine when recess is over. So I think ya'd be stealin' my whistle." Streak replied. He hadn't actually participated in recess since he was in elementary school, and even then he never really paid any attention to how long it was or when he actually had to go back to doing school work.
A thought occurred to Streak. If she was always awake late at night and there weren't many people up then who'd she talk to. Unless she did that during the day, after she'd woken up. "Since there's nothing to do really, I see no need to go back into the War Room and bore myself while I do nothing." Streak said. He didn't want to go back and he just wanted to chill for a little while longer.
"Yes," Fade spoke in an authoratative voice, "I don't think the War Room requires your attention just yet." Surprisingly enough, she was able to keep a straight face. Squishing her face slightly, she jogged through her brain, searching for a new discussion topic. What could they talk about now? Crazy dreams? Nah, that might get too weird. What about politi-scratch that, no politics, please. Finally, she settled on an idea.
"So how'd you wind up here?" she asked. He was smart and thought on his toes, also a good security guard. So what brought him to the Mansion? Maybe he had a troubling past too, but not all mutants experience that. Although, it seemed that even the most brutally beaten mutants protect humans, just goes to show that human compassion triumphs over stereotypes.

Fade asked a good question. How should he answer that? There were so many different directions that he could go with this answer. None of them were lies but he just wasn't sure where he should start his explanation. Streak thought back to when he first arrived. He thought back and back. What did bring me here? he thought. "Well I came here mainly because my parents kicked me out of the house when they found out I was a mutant." He began. Streak thought some more of what else he could say. "After that I found a flyer lying around town that advertised this school. So like most of people here I decided to check it out. Fortunately I was already a little practiced with my powers before I arrived here; so I wasn't really here to learn how to control my powers. More like refining them." Streak said.
"I probably arrived during one of the worst times. It might have had something to do with not being here to long before the camp raids took us there." He wasn't sure why he was telling her this especially because it didn't affect when he showed up or what brought him there. "Anyways, getting back on topic, I guess what kept me here was the fact that everyone was friendly enough to keep me here." Streak said. He was more on topic this time but he felt that he'd told her everything that brought him here. There weren't to many reasons why he'd come here. Mainly he came just to see if he'd fit in at the mansion; and so far he'd done more than just fit in. He'd excelled. "What 'bout you? Why'd you come here?" Streak asked. He knew that many of the students saught refuge but that wasn't everyone that was here.
The moment had finally come, Streak had askedbher the exact question she had asked him: why did Fade live at the mansion. It was only fair that she answer, but her story was rather long and complex. Telling her new mansion friend really did not need to know about her family and her foster family. It was not that she did not trust him, it was just too early to look like someone who has serious issues in life. Also, Fade had never enjoyed a pity parade.
"Well, I did not really have a family, not a normal family, at least. When I was very young, I ran away and claimed the entire city of New York as my home. You know those people that live under bridges and in abbandoned buildings? Yeah, I was one of those homeless people. My mutation allowed me to become the best pick-pocketer in the big apple. But, the life of a street rat thief was not the life I wanted. Word got around the homeless community, I figured that a safe place to stay would make me appreciate my life more. Not to mention how I wanted to learn how to use my powers for a good cause instead of stealing." It was a good thing that The Sanctuary had not yet opened or the pro pick-pocketer would have ended up in the Order and would have spiraled down on the highway to immorality and an even larger criminal record. Phew.

Streak listened to Fade. Her story was an interesting one. It also sounded a lot like some of the stories that he'd heard from others around the mansion. Not that he was saying her story wasn't interesting or anything, it was just familiar. No matter how many times he'd heard it he couldn't help but feel a little sorry for that person. He never had a lot of the problems that others here faced and so he could only relate to them slightly. "Would I'm sorry to hear that be appropriate?" He asked not really expecting an answer. "Pick-pocketing huh? I can only guess that that means you've had a few run-ins with the law then." Streak said to her.
Fade didn't seem like the person that liked people to feel sorry for her so he tried not to dwell on it. "Well it sounds like a very good thing that you came to yer senses before ya got into to much trouble." He continued. He didn't really know how to react to her statement. It wasn't exactly a sad 'feel sorry for me' statement. It was just a fact and he wasn't sure what the appropriate response would be for it. Finally he said, "What do you practice in the Danger Room? Self-defense? Martial Arts? What?" He was hoping this would get both of their attention off what she'd said.
To her relief, he did not paint his reaction with rainbows and 'Get Well Soon' cards. Instead, Streak kept a straight posture and joined her in appreciating that was a life she once lived and how it was no longer her. Good. She most certainly did not want him to put his arms around her, rub her back and tell her his personalo philosophies about life. However, since he did not add any relating stories from his side nor did he dilly dally on the topic told Fade that he either did not have such a rough life or he didnt feel like talking about it either. No matter, it was a good thing she did not talk about her biological family. Then again, what was the point of weeping in the past and making everyone shed a tear for you if you could dance in the present and form a ball?
"Oh, I had a few cop run-ins but they could never really keep me detained for long," she shrugged before rethinking her answer. The Mansion was full of people protecting humanity and justice; having a criminal record was not worthy of being bragged about. "I actually don't know martial arts or anything special like that. I tend to train on agility. My claws allow me to climb walls, so I like to train doing all that Cirque Du Soleil crap. What about you?"

"Ya I'd have to agree. I'm sure I'm not exactly on the cops Most Favorite Mutant board right now. I've had a lot of run-ins with the cops also but they never caught me so I don't worry about it." Streak replied to her. He'd had plenty of run-ins with the cops and he didn't want any more any time soon. He'd probably get picked up by the cops just for walking around the street. Streak also didn't want to see if he was right or not. That's why he worked so much and spent so much time with the Xmen and all that jazz. Surprisingly enough, while he was thinking about it, he actually didn't train all that much. Mainly he relied on the skills that he had at the moment and he didn't even work on improving them. Now that he was thinking about that he probably should train more often.
"I would love to see that. I've heard Cirque Du Sole is a pretty cool show. Agility's always a good thing to train but ya probably should learn some martial arts. I know quite a bit of martial arts and self defense and things like that. It definitely came in handy when the mansion was attacked." Streak answered. If she wanted to learn he wouldn't mind teaching her or giving some pointers.
OOC: aha, sorry, totally spaced that i had originally asked how Streak wound up at the Mansion. Nice save
So there was, in fact, a fellow X-Man that was a wanted mutant. The thought comforted her in an odd measure as she did not exactly know if any of the other X-Men had police records or at least had the cops looking out for them. Fade used to have cops on her tail because she used to be one of those lost children with their sad eyes staring up at the common New Yorker from a milk carton. Now it was the amount of money and accessories that she had stolen that the cops had become so familiar with her trademark changing eye color, red hair, and raptor-like claws. Life was better when she was not on the run, she learned this from her recent year's absence. "Don't let them take you to the Slammer!" she joked. "Stay silver, Pony Boy," she fooled, changing the famous line from The Outsiders to fit her Silver friend.
Apparently he was also good at martial arts; another plus. "Yeah, well my claws can phase into walls and then cling there, so I can climb around. A room is my jungle gym, but on a battlefield, there is not much to work with," it was true. Fade could not fight well on open ground, she had no where to climb, no where to sneak attack from. Maybe she could use a lesson or two. "Alright then, oh teacher," she teased. "I am up for a session, whenever you have the time." Maybe Streak needed a good break from the security room. Even though he was getting one at the moment.

OOC: I think that reference is before my time.
Streak didn't understand the reference that she made. However he did think that it sounded funny so he chuckled. It's a good thing she's attractive otherwise that joke might not have worked to well. he thought The night was going pretty well and they were having nice and random conversations. If someone walked in at this point they'd probably be very lost though. Fade spoke again and Streak was happy with what she'd said. "That's the spirit." Streak said. "Ya can always use some self defense. Especially if ya hang around me enough." He smiled.
The last part was obviously a joke and he hoped she got it. If that joke bombed he would have to work a lot harder to make up for it. Although, considering the stupid jokes both of them had been throwing out he was feeling comfortable that this joke was one that wouldn't fall short of their usual rhetoric. He had to admit, there was something about seeing an attractive girl beating the snot out of someone else that was very hot. Of course he also liked teaching people how to defend themselves because it told you a lot about the person.
