The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lee was looking forward to tonight. Sure, she had to work, and so did Blaine, but after she got dressed for the night, she realized just how...interesting the night was going to be. Not that it was really planned, she’d just pulled the clothes from her closet and put them on. But standing in the bathroom applying her makeup and doing her hair, Lee realized how surprised Blaine would be seeing her.
The black pencil skirt and boots were nothing new. It was the corset that she was sure would be the surprise.
It really didn’t take long, or much effort, at that point to finish getting ready and to get to the bar, it was routine by this point. But one thing that was different from normal was that Lee grabbed a thin black shawl to bring with her.
An hour later, Lee was sitting in the office as usual doing her paperwork. But she had her shawl covering her shoulders as she waited for Blaine to come in as he normally did before his shift.
Blaine had had a rather quiet, ordinary day; he'd spent lunchtime at the gym, grabbed a bite, then went home. Skye came home from work, and they watched some of his old fights together before he had to leave. He loved talking with Skye about fighting, even though he was pretty sure she was only into it because her uncle was a fighter. But still....whatever reason, her eyes lit up whenever she talked about it, much like they did when she was five. Only these days, it was her hands that lit up, and they didn't do it figuratively, either. She was a handful sometimes, but she was a good kid.
Blaine had left her to head to work, and he walked in with a slight smile on his face, wearing his leather jacket, one of his usual "SECURITY" tee shirts, and a pair of black jeans with a pair of black boots. It was about the same getup every shift he worked, but by now he was pretty sure he'd be recognized in this bar no matter what. He'd made himself known among most of the regulars.
Walking in before the bar officially opened, he went to the back and hung his jacket on the coat rack. Then, he walked to the office, knocking on the door and stepping inside.
"Hey there babe," he said with a smile, then looked at the shawl with an odd look. That was...different. "Don't think I've seen you wear that," he observed with a smile. "I like it."
Hearing the knock on the office door, Lee looked up to see Blaine stepping in, and she smiled over at him. She couldn’t help it, it was pretty much automatic, and that was even before remembering about her surprise that she had for him.
Standing up and walking around to the front of the desk, smiling even wider as she heard Blaine speak. ”Hey to you too,” she said softly as she came up in front of Blaine. ”And thanks, hon, I’m glad you like it. I don’t wear it often, but it’s good for when it’s a little cool, because I can just tie it around my waist when I get warm.” Which was exactly what she was planning on doing later, but Blaine didn’t need to know that quite yet. He’d be made more than aware of that when the time came.
Stretching up on her toes, Lee gave Blaine a quick kiss. ”I’ve got a bit more to do back here,” she told him after a moment. ”See you out front soon?”
He had to admit, this was his favorite part of his pre-work routine. "It looks really good on you," he murmured with a smile as she leaned up to kiss him, and his arms tenderly wrapped around her in that brief moment.
"I'll be waiting, Babe," he murmured with a wink; growing quite fond of his new nickname for her. He just hoped she felt the same way about it. With another kiss on the cheek, he turned and walked out of the office, a slight unfelt skip in his step. He made his way back to the bar, walking out and finding his usual spot by the wall as he let his eyes wander the bar that was slowly starting to fill.
He had the feeling tonight was going to be a decent night.
Lee couldn't stop the happy smile that came to her face when Blaine commented on the shawl. Generally speaking, or was simply something that she wore against the cool night air when she didn't want to have to deal with a jacket. But he liked how it looked on her.
And he didn't even seem curious about what might be underneath.
Blaine arms weren't around her long, they never were at work, but they still felt nice for that brief moment. And of course he would be waiting, Lee thought with a smile up at Blaine.
Then Blaine was gone, and though all Lee wanted to do was follow him, she returned to the desk. She still had actual work to do.
About 20 minutes later, Lee made her way out to the front of the bar, the shawl still around her shoulders. Normally it would have come of a long time ago because it really wasn't chilly at all in the bar. But this wasn't a normal situation, this was to surprise Blaine. And so it had to stay on until the right time. Doing her normal walk around the bar, Lee looked over at Blaine in his spot against the wall with a smile.
As far as Blaine knew, this night was just going to be a very routine one; nothing to write home about. It had a rather peaceful vibe to it, as people started to pile in, everything was going very smoothly, very quietly. But that was okay, because Blaine was learning to appreciate these quiet moments. He guessed he had Lee to thank for that one.
He'd made his rounds around the bar, mingling with the regulars as he usually did. It was, all in all, a pretty chill kind of night.
Then Lee walked out and he greeted her with his usual smile, as he usually did. Yep. It was looking to be quite the usual night.
It didn’t take long before Blaine’s eyes made their way over to her, and Lee smiled back at him. It never really took long for him to spot her, not with how his eyes were almost constantly scanning the bar looking for any problems. He was rather good at his job, after all.
But his eyes were on her now, at least for the moment. Deciding that now was as good a time as any, and deciding to act before his eyes continued on around the bar, Lee let the shawl slide off her shoulders to fully reveal the corset she was wearing, her hands deftly tying the shawl around her waist so it was out of her way. A knowing smile on her face, Lee kept her eyes on Blaine waiting to see his reaction.
He let his eyes linger on Lee, as they always did, but in an instant, the mundane, routine atmosphere shifted as Lee removed the shawl. Blaine's eyes about bulged out of his head. It was quite the surprise. A few of the regulars started to whistle, but Blaine's glare stifled them. He'd well established himself as the top dog in this bar. And she was his.
However, he was now having a decidedly harder time scanning the bar and doing his job. She did this just to mess with him; he knew it...
Blaine's eyes bulged as the shawl left her shoulders, and Lee's smile widened. And, though she heard the whistles, Lee's eyes stayed on Blaine. She'd always known that she got men's attention, regardless of what she was wearing but more so when she dresses like this. But it never really affected her, she didn't care. There was only a single person in the entire building whose opinion matters to Lee about how she looked.
And though he appeared very shocked, it seemed that he approved.
The grin still on her face, Lee slowly made her way over to Blaine, all but ignoring the people around her, the stares she was receiving. ”How’s your night going so far?” Lee asked innocently as she came up in front of Blaine.
His eyes always found their way back to her, but tonight, it was even more extreme. She wore revealing clothing while working, and it never really bothered him, but this was just torture, and unlike anything she usually wore. Especially considering where their relationship was now...this was just wrong.
And then, to make it worse, she was suddenly right in front of him. "It was going good," he said with a shrug. "And now I can't wait to get off of work..." he grumbled, his eyes wandering from her gaze as he spoke. He was having a really hard time trying to concentrate on his job.
Lee frowned when Blaine started off saying that his night had been going well. What did he mean had been? What happened?
That was answered a moment later, and in fact nothing bad had happened. It was just her surprise. ”I wanted the night to be over before you even got here,” Lee admitted to Blaine, the smile still on her face.
And Lee definitely did not miss his wandering eye. She was sure it wasn't the only one, but it was the only one that Lee cared about. ”Good thing is a slow night, eh?”
"That's the thing," he said with a laugh, "I usually like my job," he said with a chuckle. "Then again, I don't usually cook up evil schemes to torment my significant other all night," he said, still teasing.
"Maybe, maybe not, we'll see." Slow night? The shift may have been slow, but his heart was beating out of his chest. He walked back over to his spot on the wall, attempting to find a vantage point while he scanned the bar, looking for any sign of trouble. However, every time, his eyes continued to roam back to Lee. Specifically....that corset. How he couldn't wait to--
Wait, there was work to do.
He wished he could--No. Work.
He took a deep breath as he continued to scan the bar, only for his eyes to end on her. Damn it! He couldn't focus like this. And that was saying something; his focus was usually impeccable, but tonight, it just wanted to focus on one thing.
Hearing Blaine call her surprise an ‘evil scheme’, Lee plastered an innocent expression on her face. ”What are you talking about?” she asked as she looked up at Blaine. ”I just pulled this out of my closet. There was no scheming involved.”
But then a very knowing smile grew on her face again as the innocent expression disappeared. ”But sometimes, a little temptation just makes things more fun later.” Giving a Blaine a wink to go with the smile, Lee continued on her walk around the bar as Blaine made his way back to ‘his’ spot against the wall.
And so Lee continued her normal walk around the bar. But every time Lee looked toward Blaine with a smile, as she normally did, Lee saw him looking back at her. Each and every time. It was the look in his eyes, even from across the bar, that made her breath catch in her throat. The look in his eyes as he looked at her that made her heart beat faster.
The next time that Lee’s eyes made their way over to Blaine, seeing him staring back at him, Lee’s bottom lip drew in between her teeth. And she couldn’t help but wonder if the bar was warmer than normal that night. Lee knew that the corset would evoke a good reaction, but this…
Lee didn’t think she had ever seen Blaine look at her like that before. It was...Ok, Lee was starting to second guess her decision to wear the corset, it was going to be a very long night. Much longer than she had anticipated.
It was a quiet night, though. Very quiet for the number of people who were in the bar that night. And she did have a number of security working that night, not just Blaine. Looking back over at her boyfriend, her stomach doing a little flip when she saw the look being directed back at her, Lee decided.
Walking back over to Blaine, her heart racing, Lee smiled up at him again. ”Ready for a break?”
He smirked, shaking his head, his long dark hair following suit. "You don't need long," he said with a wink. "But even if mostly ad-libbed, a scheme is a scheme," he replied lightly. But then the innocent look faded and he could hear his heart beating in his head as she spoke again. "More fun later often equals torture now," he countered before he'd made his way back to 'his' spot.
Every time their eyes met was just as much torture. Every single time. And he couldn't take his eyes off of her for long. And then...seeing her bite her lip made it all the worse. His head was spinning by the time she walked back over to him. There was something...different about that smile. Something he never saw in public. Break? Already? And what was she up to? Wait....
He cocked his head sideways, sure he knew what she was thinking, but...that couldn't be it, could it? Well, a man could hope. "Yeah, it sounds like a good time for a break," he breathed quietly.
Blaine just looked confused for a moment when she suggested a break. Thankfully, that confusion didn’t seem to last long. And though she could barely hear Blaine’s reply because he spoke so quietly, those few quiet words told her more than anything louder could have.
Grinning over her shoulder at Blaine, Lee was already turning to make her way into the back. Thankfully, the bar was not crowded enough to slow her movements. Though, having your 6’3” bouncer boyfriend walking behind you probably helped clear path.
From there, it only took a minute for Lee to lead them to the office. She waited just long enough for Blaine to walk in behind her before she closed and locked the door. By this point, Lee’s breathing was heavy in anticipation as she turned back to Blaine.
