The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Blaine was training at the gym, as he usually was three days out of the week, dressed in a red muscle-shirt, black gym shorts, and his trademark black gloves. Currently, he was in the ring, trading punches with his trainer.
"So, you're serious about this?" the bald man asked, taking a swing at Blaine, who sidestepped and answered with a punch of his own.
"Do we have to do this now, Joe? Yeah, I'm serious. One more fight, then I'm out." He took a punch to the midsection, but then answered with another jab followed by a kick before stepping in with another punch.
"Why, though?"
"Reason one," he threw a punch, "I feel like it's just time. I'm not getting any younger, and even though I can't feel, it's bound to be taking a toll on me And reason two, I've invited here this afternoon, so shut up." With that, Joe was left speechless, and Blaine used the advantage to throw a few more punches, but Joe recovered, blocking a few of them before pushing Blaine back with a kick of his own.
Smiling, Blaine continued trading blows with his trainer. "Don't feel too bad though, I'll still drop in and train like I always do."
After that, the next few moments were spent trading blows and sparring in silence. It was obvious the two men had known each other a long time, and with each other, neither of them pulled any punches.
Lee had mentioned to Blaine that it would probably be a good thing for her to get back into shape, though she hadn't specifically said that her main reason for thinking that was that she was back in New York. The city may be home, but in her experience, it was extremely dangerous. So when Blaine had invited her to come by his gym, Lee had agreed.
It was still a bit weird, though. Lee hadn't done this in years, not since before Kevin had been born. So Lee was more than a little nervous as she walked into the gym at the address Blaine had given her. Plus, there were the nerves from the fact that Lee knew Blaine had never seen her like this. Not dressed down like this in black track pants and grey racerback tank, her hair in a ponytail, and he'd never seen what she was capable of.
Despite the nerves, in Lee walked, her jacket still on and a bag slung over her shoulder.
And that's when she saw Blaine, in the ring sparring. Stopping, Lee just stood and watched. He really was damn good, Lee thought. Never mind his power, he really was a damn skilled fighter.
Blaine didn't notice when Lee first walked in; he just kept throwing punch after punch, focused completely on his target, even though it wasn't a real fight. After awhile, Joe finally put his hands up and backed away. He didn't say a word, but he was done for the day--and he may have still been chewing on what Blaine had told him before Lee showed up. Joe made a lot of money on Blaine, after all. Once done, Blaine took a towel and dried his face of the sweat before looking down and seeing Lee standing there.
Sure, she was dressed different than usual, but so was he. He never really paid much mind to that kind of thing, anyway. "You enjoy the show?" he called down to her, leaning on the ropes a little bit. He flashed her a smirk.
As the sparring came to an end, Lee continued to stand there, waiting. It didn't take long at that point for Blaine to notice her. ”It wasn't half bad,” Lee said with a shrug.
Slowly, Lee took a couple steps forward, still looking at Blaine. ”I told you I'm out of shape, I hope you don't expect me to do that right off the bat.”
His face half dropped. "Not half bad? That's all?" he slightly teased. "I was going for more than that, but you can't please everyone, I guess~" He gave a soft chuckle as he climbed out of the ring and stood by her side.
"Nah, I was thinking maybe you can start off on the bag. Unless you want to climb in there with me. But be forewarned I won't hit back," he added, hoping she'd remember that he didn't know how to pull his punches.
Lee shrugged again when Blaine questioned what she had said. ”I mean, sure you hit hard,” Lee said as she watched Blaine walk toward her. ”You don't even attempt to block, which I guess makes sense, but I've seen better.”
Then Blaine said that he had thought she could start on the bag, Lee was a little disappointed. But he continued saying that were they to get in the ring, he wouldn't hit back. ”Well, where's the fun in that?” Lee asked with a smirk, looking up at him. ”I guess that means the bag, because I'm not going to hit someone who's not going to hit back.”
He couldn't hide it; her words hurt. All the years he'd put into fighting, even after his dream had failed...it sort of crushed his spirit a little. His smile dropped; he didn't know if it was her words or just how he felt about her. But even still, it cut him pretty deep.
He did smile a little once he realized she felt the same way he did about the bag, but at this point, maybe hitting a bag was a good idea. He led her over to the bags, before taking one of his own, blowing off a little steam. He didn't want to show it, but he couldn't help it. Maybe she'd make it up to him later.
Lee could see it, she had gone too far with her slight teasing. She could see it as his smile dropped from his face. But before she could do anything, Blaine was leading the way over to the punching bags.
Following, Lee paused just long enough to set her bag on a chair, then her jacket, before making her way over to Blaine. Taking a spot at the bag next to Blaine, Lee started off slowly; not only were her muscles still cold, but she didn't have all that much energy. ”I'm sure I would have been more impressed of I had seen more,” Lee said after a minute, only glancing over briefly before turning her attention back to the bag in front of her.
He focused on the bag, as if hitting and kicking it would somehow heal his wounded ego. He kept moving around the bag as he hit it, almost as if it was a person--even if it couldn't hit back. But for some reason, it still stung. He knew she didn't mean anything by it, but his ego was fragile enough to make up for his nonexistent nerves.
"Maybe," he murmured in response, still focusing on the bag as he kept his pacing. "I guess we'll make sure you see the whole thing next time," he murmured a little. He'd obviously lost a little of his bite, but he was still just as focused as he had been, still moving and striking without remorse.
He didn't even look over at her, he just kept moving around his punching bag, hitting and kicking as he went. And when he answered, it was just a murmur despite his activity.
Shaking her head, Lee turned away from her own punching bag to look at Blaine. ”Don't start without me next time, then?” Lee asked, hoping that would help.
But as she watched Blaine, she had another idea. ”You know, I've never really learned kicks,” she said, hoping this would get his attention more than her last few comments had. ”Would you help teach me how to do it properly?”
The smile sort of came back, but at the same time...what if she still wasn't impressed? He kept going for awhile, until he heard her mention kicks, and he found himself relaxing a little more. "Yeah; kicks are a good utility," he said, moving so she could see.
"The one I mainly use is a basic straight kick." He took his stance, then demonstrated a couple of times. "I use these to set up for something else, like so." Then, he did it again, this time following up with a hard right hook.
After his demonstration, he moved so he was next to her, ready to help with her form, and show her more if need be. Granted, aside from his setup, he didn't really rely on kicks, but his ego had already been hurt enough for one day.
A bit of a smile. That was better than nothing, but still not as much as Lee had been hoping for. Bit at least he was open to the idea of helping her with kicks, and after demonstrating it a couple times, he moved over beside her.
This was much better, Lee couldn't help but think as as she did get first kick, done purposely on the slow side to make sure she had the technique right before speeding it up. Glancing at Blaine to see if he had any typos or suggestions before trying again,a bit harder and faster this time. ”His it look? An I doing it right?” Lee asked looking over at Blaine again. ”Because of I ever do this with more energy, it'd be great to not pull or tear something because I've been doing it wrong.”
He watched her technique as she kicked, mostly paying attention to her form. "I don't know much about hurting anything, but I do know form pretty well," he said, watching her a minute. "Here, just make sure you keep your form straight, and make it one fluid motion," he explained, gently using his hands to adjust her form a little.
"Then, once you get that down, you can use your momentum to follow through," he explained, feeling a little better now that he was able to help her. Though he did have to admit he kind of enjoyed this, and it was nice that they could go out and do things together instead of just staying at home. As fun as that was, it was nice to change things up every now and then.
Blaine stated that he didn't know about getting hurt, and Lee simply shook her head slightly. Of course he didn't, that wasn't the point, but Lee did feel pain. However, he did correct her form a bit, and Lee had to admit that once he did, her next kick felt much better.
But then Blaine continued speaking, and Lee turned a raised eyebrow at him before taking another kick. ”And just how much momentum do you think I have without extra energy?” Lee asked with a slightly teasing smile. Then the smile turned more coy and playful. ”Though, of you wanted to help me out with that a bit, I might actually be able to move this bag. “ As she finished speaking, Lee have another, much harder kick, which, despite the extra effort she put in, barely budged the bag.
"There; much better," he said as she continued. "Every little bit helps," he teased slightly, at least he was feeling better now. "Oh, I could probably help you with that," he murmured with a sly smile as he watched her.
He had to admit, this was rather nice; the two of them training together. It was different, and he had to admit he really did like it. "Let me know when you're ready to move on to something else." He gave a smile, his eyes sort of wandering a little. Usually he didn't do that sort of thing, but...the way things had been going lately, he was seeing her in a new light. And besides, he never saw her dressed this way before.
