The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Evelyn enjoyed her 'moment' for a few seconds, then stood before the echoes started picking up on things and lost their focus on training. She nodded at what Mirror was saying, and offered a hand to help the mirror-walker up.
"Well, we'll probably have to work on my balance if that's the case... I never was much of a gymnast or anything as a kid, and work is mostly just carrying stuff around." She admitted. She let out a puff of a sigh as she spoke though, shaking her head. "Feels like the list of things to work on keeps getting longer though."
She was somewhat disappointed with herself for growing up so...not necessarily lazy just, nonathletic. Intellectually, she could walk circles around people and she had done it on a number of occasions. But she always was book smart and not street smart. There was a lot to learn that didn't involve reading or wandering a museum. Sometimes she felt like she fell into this world Maya was in, and she was picking up on things, but it didn't make the process a whole lot faster. Maybe that's why the little victories made her a lot happier.
>>"Well, we'll probably have to work on my balance if that's the case... I never was much of a gymnast or anything as a kid, and work is mostly just carrying stuff around. Feels like the list of things to work on keeps getting longer though."
"Oh that's normal" Maya grinned, getting back to her feel "I've got a long ass list of things I gotta learn. And I'm pretty sure Sam's got one for me too."
She was off to a good start, and they both new it. The rest was just practice.
"You can use your powers to learn faster" she added "That's gonna be very useful for training. Besides that, you just need to build some... strength."
Do sports, kids, they are good for ya.
"So... um." Maya added very eloquently, looking at the mattress, the weapons, and back to Eve.
The encouragement helped her ego a lot, and Evelyn felt her doubt melt away a little bit. It didn't feel like weeks since she relied on a bodyguard to protect her now. It felt like years ago. She felt like she could do this now. But Maya was right, and there was still a lot to learn. Heck, how long had Mirror been doing this and she still had stuff to work on?
"I feel....relieved. I guess. I didn't think the echoes would help with anything like this. I sort of hoped, I guess. As amusing as the whole 'detective' type profession would be, it's fun to see what other options there are." She rambled, and then cut herself off before she got too out of hand.
Strength... Well that was one way to word it. She was lucky she could throw the Sai at all after how she grew up.
"Soooo, you're the teacher. This was kind of your training session. What else should we work on? I pretty much suck at all of it so you can't really choose wrong." She said with a helpful/nothelpful smile. "Or I can just keep falling for you." She atted with a mischievous smirk.

"Well, that's one lesson learned" Maya grinned. She was glad to see that her out-of-the-blue training session actually yielded some positive results.

"Oww" Maya frowned, sticking her tongue out at Eve "So is that what I gotta expect from a girlfriend with perfect memory?..."
God I need to stop talking.
Maya blinked, then her shoulders relaxed in defeat.
"Looks like this is just one of those days." she muttered
>>"So is that what I gotta expect from a girlfriend with perfect memory?..."
Evelyn smiled for a moment, then shook her head quickly before Maya took it too seriously. "I think you'll be safe. I may have a perfect memory but that also means I can never forget the nice things you do either.I may tease you a little but I only do it because I care." She added. Meanwhile, part of the sentence buzzed slightly in her ears. Girlfriend... MAya had never actually called her her girlfriend before, so that was a first. She tried not to blush at the term.
"We can always take a break from training if you want? Do something else...I don't know. Up to you." She fiddled with the end of her braid and shifted from one foot to the other, the training mat squishing slightly under her heels.
>>"I think you'll be safe. I may have a perfect memory but that also means I can never forget the nice things you do either.I may tease you a little but I only do it because I care."
Maya beamed. Eve gracefully skipped over the girlfriend part without comment, and she also reassured her about the forever memories. She just needed to make sure to do more nice things to remember.
>>"We can always take a break from training if you want? Do something else...I don't know. Up to you."
"All right" Maya leaned in and kissed Eve on the cheek "I'll work on a training plan for you and look into the whole sai thing, see if I can rustle up a program for that. In the meantime... how about ice cream?"
Evelyn could get used to the whole getting kissed thing. Even if it was just on the cheek it had a way of making her spirit lift just a little bit. She was starting to get why people could get cheesy and starry eyed when they dated people. The little spikes of happiness were definitely an upside to it.
>>"I'll work on a training plan..."
Evelyn nodded, glancing back at the weapons rack. All things considered, the training practice hadn't gone so bad. She didn't injure anyone with a weapon at least. Then again, she hadn't really messed with much more than the sai... She had no idea what would have happened if she messed with the wrong weapon. The level of training she needed was still very basic. She figured eventually she'd have to work through some of her skittishness with other weapons, but for now she was content with the sai.
The thoughts flickered and evaporated at the mention of ice cream though "Ice cream actually sounds pretty great about now." She admitted with a smile.
