The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It appeared that that bartender hadn't been calling the cops. Huh. Well how was Astrid supposed to know that? It wasn't like it was her fault or anything. And now he was throwing her crystal back and yelling.
Rude.
She followed Elliott along as he walked out of the bar. He was right; there were better things to do than stick around in that crappy bar. Heh. He had stepped on Glasses' stomach. A move he deserved.
October was actually pretty cool.
Not a lot had been gained from that night, but at least she had met him. "Yeah," she agreed following an audible chuckle, "we leave."
Stepping through the doors of the bar, she breathed in the semi-fresh New York night air. Cars moved slowly through the traffic, everyone with somewhere to be. It was a windy night for sure. She could feel it as her black hair and now-feathered wings whipped around violently.
"Where we go?" Valkyrie asked her new green skinned friend. She didn't really know of any other bars, but it seemed as though he had been to his fair share.

Astrid narrowed her eyes at the little girl and walked up to her so she could use her height to stare down at her. There weren't that many people she could do that with, but fortunately, the little girl was one of them.
She spread out her wings to look more imposing as well and then crossed her arms. It was the most intimidating stance she knew. So far, though, she had only been able to use it on children.
"They not take me," Astrid smirked at Abby. "But you stuck."

"Is fine," Astrid choked out and set down her wine glass on the bar. She looked at the red liquid and decided to never pick it up again. It wasn't worth faking it.
Her eyes traveled from the surroundings of the bar to the bartender. Or, at least where the bartender had been. Except, he had gone to call someone on the phone. From what she could make out, it sounded like something important.
Or was it... It was! He was calling the cops!
Astrid eyes darkened and her brow furrowed in anger. "Hey!" She called to him loudly, "not cops!"
She didn't bother to give him a minute to put down the phone as she picked a crystal from her wing and threw it at him. It grazed past his head and implanted itself into the wall with a loud thud.
"*Vous êtes une pomme de terre avec le visage d'un cochon d'inde!" She called to him in French.
"Want hurt him?" Astrid asked October with a hint of a grin on her face.

Astrid remained both limp and silent when the man attacked her. It was surprising, actually. She had pegged him for the nonviolent type, but it appeared that she was very wrong. He had even used her own crystal against her as a weapon. She took a huge gulp, her mouth slightly parted as it scraped against her skin.
Then, when he replaced it with his business card, she took it with a thin, pale, slightly shaky hand. Perhaps he was right; it was time to let go of her ego. After all, what he was offering did sound rather appealing.
<There's no need to make more,> she informed him in a rather excited tone. She further proved her point by taking another crystal from her wing. <For money, of course.>
She watched as he stood halfway through his gate and waited for her. For a split second, she considered just throwing another crystal and running, but she realized how helpful a connection with him could be. He obviously had money, he wasn't afraid to show force, and he looked pretty intimidating. Standing next to him would look pretty good for her.
<I expect good payment,> Astrid informed him as she grabbed the cash off of the table and stepped through the portal. There was no hesitation in her walk at all. In actuality, she was trying her hardest to look competent and fearless.

>>"Why should I listen to you?"
Astrid merely rolled her eyes (although it was difficult to see) at Abby's response. There was no way she was going to put all that work into a young, impressionable girl, and then let her run away back to her parents. No, that just wouldn't do. Plus, from what television had told her, parents didn't take well to their children dressing with heavy makeup and all black clothes.
"Stole clothes, remember?" Astrid pointed to the girl's new outfit. "You run, I tell." That would surely impact her bad attitude.

Astrid's black eyes surveyed the duty below them, trying to think of what to say in response. Christ, Jabberwocky was just so cool, and he seemed to know exactly what to say and do. Unlike Astrid, who struggled to think of what to do at every turn. She hoped that if she could get the chance to spend more time around him, she would maybe pick up some of his habits. That was the best case scenario, though. She still had to impress him first.
The young girl matched his pace, only flapping her wings when necessary. It felt nice, actually. There was wind in her wings and hair, but she wasn't going anywhere. Usually, the only way she flew was when she had to get somewhere fast.
Also, their angle gave her an excellent view of the city. She could easily see the intricate grid work of New York, and the clear coast line. If she squinted, she could even make out some cars movin below.
"Go there," she decided after a moment, pointing a long pale finger at a large black building. It was the same one she had broken into and met that woman in.
Astrid really wanted to keep up her persona of being confident, so she flew forward as soon as she said it. She didn't wait for Jabberwocky's approval, since she thought that would seem clingy. That was the last thing she wanted to seem to him. She was aiming for confident and secure.
"What you do?" She asked him while flying, referring to both his form of employment and his hobbies. "You say you on news?"

English was such a confusing language. Did the wolf boy mean that they were going to the park, or was he just telling her that? Why would he just tell her that, though? Nothing made any sense. Maybe they were just trying to throw her off? Yeah, that could have been it. After all, she was more than used to having people dislike her. Kids at the orphanages and foster homes used to try and avoid her all the time.
But she still couldn't be entirely sure. Where other people may have just asked for clarification, Astrid simply resorted to anger. Intense anger.
The winged girl stepped heavily behind them, trying to catch up. Her face was twisted in a blind rage as she shot off her bottom row of crystals. She wasn't really looking where they landed as she stepped forwards in front of the boys.
"Tell truth now." She demanded. That seemed like a good time for a dramatic foot stomp.
Yes, a very good time indeed. It did not at all resemble a two year old having a temper tantrum. At all.

Suddenly, October was completely different in Astrid's eyes.
Not only did he maliciously taser mountain man three times, but he also stole his wallet. That's right, not once. Not twice. Three times. Three whole times. A superfluous number for someone that looked like they had already received a concussion of some degree.
The winged girl waited eagerly for her drink at the bar, keeping her mind locked on October at the same time. She wondered if he had any connections with any organizations or something. Or maybe if he would just let her associate herself with him. That would look good on her already extensive resume of evil.
>>"You're a good fighter, too. Those crystal wings are neat!"
"Really?" The comment had perked her up even more. "I learning still," she told him honestly. It was a bit embarrassing for her to admit, but she wanted to get on his good side. If she were truly, wholly evil, she wouldn't need to practice at all. Obviously, she would just be able to pick it up like a natural. But alas, that was not the case.
Her wine arrived on the table, and she took a sip. She choked and nearly had to spit it out. It was horrible; it had absolutely none of the rich flavour of French wine. Instead, it tasted like watered down vinegar. It took everything she had to make herself swallow it instead of spitting it across the bar.

Very cool idea, Tempest!
Astrid is easily drawn to things associated with evil, so I could see her stumbling upon the Sanctuary at some point. She could, even, be coerced into joining, provided that you offer something better than Ambrose. However, with Astrid come violence, so it's up to you if you want that.
If you're looking for something calmer, Juliette's a bit of a goody-two-shoes, so she would probably help volunteer. It's even possible that she could add the Sanctuary to her list of places to teach first aid.

Jude had deflected the question very quickly. A little too quickly, Astrid thought. Her keen ears detected his uneasiness about the object that untrained ones would not. Astrid was very intuitive like that.
<Sure, that's totally believable,> she rolled her eyes and continued to inspect the thing. She shook it repeatedly, finding that other than a bit of a shaking noise, not much happened. So, she tried a different approach. There was a little button beneath the text screen that she pressed repeatedly until there was a little beeping sound.
Following the beep, Astrid waited for something to happen. Maybe a voice on a different end? Or a recording? Or best of all, maybe an explosion somewhere?
Instead, there was absolutely nothing. Just the stupid, pointless little beep.
Well, it was a bit of an overreaction from the boy, then. Astrid chucked the object into the street behind her, figuring she had a better chance with whatever was still in the wallet. <I think I'm going to keep this,> she sneered at Jude.
<But you can always try to come get it.> That last comment was in a sing-song voice. As much as he was annoying, she didn't want the French boy to leave just yet. It was nice to talk in her native language again. Plus, he reacted really well to her attempts to be intimidating.

>>"Not quite a knuckle sandwich. I give it 9/10."
"Thank?" Astrid said cautiously. That sort of sounded like a compliment.
The mountain man stirred while on the ground, trying to push himself up but then falling back down. Astrid scoffed at the mountain man and kicked him with the toe of her shoe. How was he still not down? It really didn't make any logical sense.
She stepped over him towards the bar and picked up her drinks. They looked similar, and they both left the same burn in her throat. so she figured it would be a good idea to mix the two. That way, she could drink both at the same time and not have to worry about holding two glasses.
It tasted... Not as good as she expected.
Not that she had initially enjoyed either of the drinks to begin with.
She turned to October, still keeping one eye on the mountain man as she did. "You are good fight," she complimented. "What evil you like do?" An odd question to say the least, but it was one that she was generally curious about. After all, he did seem to be the evil type. At least, she hoped he was.

Astrid scrambled to her feet just in time to avoid being crushed by the full weight of the mountain man. He came crashing down like a ton of bricks on the floor, making a cracking sound as his head connected with the hard tiles. The bottles in the room rattled in protest as the entire building shook.
Man, that must have hurt.
Apparently not too badly, though, as the mountain man was up in a matter of moments. A collective intake of breath had been achieved when he fell, and was released as he stood to his full - albeit wobbly - height.
"You." He stuck out a meaty finger in the direction of Astrid. Or maybe it was at glasses. Or maybe even October. It was difficult to tell since he was shaking so much. His vision must have been terrible if he couldn't even focus on one person. "You started this all, 'n you're gonna pay!" Mountain man lurched forward with his arms outstretched in anger.
Astrid stepped out of the way, giving herself a better angle to punch him at. It was a great angle, actually. Much better than the one she had tried with glasses. The punch connected with the side of his head, causing him to teeter sideways.
Er- at least he would have if someone else had not had the idea to hit him at the exact same moment.

Astrid's decision to ramp things up had definitely gotten the fight going. After shouting a few choice words, the mountain man came at her with a stool. A stool. As if that would do anything against her crystal wings. She merely moved one in front of her as if it was nothing, deflecting his blow easily. Mountain man was knocked back from the force of his own attack, sending him reeling into the bar.
Valkyrie turned her attention to October and his alien enthusiast. Apparently, the crystal in the foot hadn't really deterred him from his interest. Instead, he was still focusing on his own crazy ideas. He would likely think differently when he tried to walk later on.
The man was getting rather annoying, actually. He was just sitting on the floor, spouting his nonsense. Astrid decided to make another show of force as she stepped forwards and wound up a punch. At the last second, however, the man jerked to the side, causing the young girl to fall flat on her face on top of him. Glasses screamed in pain as her wing knocked against his foot. It wasn't even a little bit smooth of a move, but apparently it had done the trick.
Behind her, mountain man had intended to grab Valkyrie from behind. But when she fell over, he lost his balance and fell directly on top of her. By that point, they had created a doggy pile that no one could easily get out of.
Through a tangled curtain of hair and the arm of the mountain man, Astrid looked for October to help her out of the difficult situation. She was stuck directly under most of the body weight of her admirer, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to breathe.
All in all, they looked pretty ridiculous. They were all squirming incessantly, while muttering words unfit for young ears. It got so bad that the bartender, who had been keeping a hand quite close to his shotgun, let out a hearty chuckle.
