The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Good questions," Lenna stated. She lowered the gun to rest at her side. "Single-action guns refers to the trigger. In single-action triggers, the trigger performs a single action. They release the hammer to discharge the gun when they're pulled. Double-actions cock the hammer, then release it. With revolvers, the trigger also rotates the cylinder."
"Single-action semi-automatic pistols require that the hammer be cocked before the first round can be fired. This can be accomplished by insertion of the magazine, and operating the slide mechanism to chamber the first round. One the first round's fired, the recoil of the slide cocks the hammer for subsequent shots. Once it's ready to fire, shots can be fired one after another until the magazine is empty. An example of a single-action pistol that works this way is the M1911. I'd recommend something like that. Semi-autos are nice. Single-action revolvers require the hammer to be hand-cocked every time."
"The difference between Semi-automatics and revolvers is that, while revolvers use multiple chambers and barrels to accomplish the act of firing one cartridge to each pull of the trigger, the semi-auto accomplishes the same feat with one chamber, and one barrel. Reload is done semi-automatically, via the recoil. As far as advantages, I dunno." Lenna looked to Alexandra. "But semi-autos are way cooler. More modern. I'd go with the sleek panther modern over the old school, any day."
Yup, she'd definitely triggered something. He seemed to remember all-too-well the pair that had... wait, what was that again? Emptied the pool of water? Lenna glanced to the blond. Lori had sure been busy making trouble for Michael in his body. Poor thing.
She swung her attention back to monsieur snoot as he stumbled.
Was there going to be a problem?
Lenna smiled. Only if he didn't answer them truthfully. "Where did those two go? Did they book a room here, or...?"
He dabbed sweat off his brow with a handkerchief, and shook his head. "They left. We had to insist."
Damn. "Any clue where?"
"No," he regained his honor with an annoyed tone. "Now, if you'll excuse me." The man turned away from them, and started to leave.
Nope, no Wheaties. It seemed like she still couldn't remember much. A brunette with a gun, proximity. Meld had been threatened... and she'd been with two women.
There wasn't much else she could say. Lenna didn't suppose Meld knew what kind of make the gun was. That might have steered them in some direction... maybe to a dealer, maybe given them some clue. It might not have been a huge one, but it was better than what they had.
Lori noted the gun with a degrading comment towards gun-owners (and adapteds), and Lenna had to nod. Inwardly, she was smirking.
What Meld didn't know...
... And while it was true, most mutants could blow people away with their own powers, and had no use for sidearms, Lenna disagreed with Lori's point. Guns were useful, in cases when powers were ill-advised. It was a good public speaking device. Just showing it off caused people to suddenly listen to what you had to say. She disagreed with anti-gun vibes as a matter of principle. They'd been more useful to her than any mutant power might have been.
She kept those thoughts to herself, though, and gave no outward appearance of thinking those thoughts. Cover stories. Had to have 'em. And disagreements on personal principles didn't matter one bit.
Lori was the boss, and Lori had good guiding questions, and a direction.
At Lori's comment on Meld's room, Lenna chimed in "Do you need to sit down? I'd imagine all this is tiring." She offered a concerned look, to show the Order Amazons had the woman's best interests at heart.
Wednesday came swiftly. Lenna arrived at the front desk of Spiritual Balance, greeted the secretary, and went up to where she was to meet Mr. Antonescu, on-time. She wore a similar outfit as last time, though this time around, the colors were more peaches and mango to go with the black leggings.
She knocked on the door. "Mr. Antonescu?"
Hopefully, she'd learn something new today. She didn't want to waste her time.
>> "I guess we jus' ask around an' hope they went t' this one."
Guess so.
His after-thought made her lips curve. "Aww, really? Well, okay." It sounded to her like he'd had his heart set on it. "Guess we'll just ask the first guy we meet as nicely as we can~"
She slipped through the front door, and walked up to the main desk with a smile plastered to her face. The man behind the counter was dressed nicely in black, with a nose like a hawk's beak, and a problem with looked down it at customers.
"Excuse me," She began, looking around innocuously as she spoke. "I'm wondering if one of my friends was here yesterday. Could you please check to see if they spent any time here? I think they were planning on joining some sort of 'swim club', or something." A joint this swanky would likely require membership for one of those 'pools', she rationalized. Would Lori have gone through the hoops the swank place had set? The place was still standing, wasn't it?
The man eyed her. "Customer information really isn't available to people off the street."
"Pretty please?" Her eyes locked on him. "One of them sounded like he was from Texas. The other was really big, and red?"
The man behind the counter paused. "... Ahem."
"Sorry?" She tilted her head at him. It seemed like something she'd said had triggered a memory. Imagine that.
Mr. Antonescu was redirecting them, now, to scheduled appointments for practice. Wednesday at three for Andrea, and Wednesday at one, for Molly. It looked like she wouldn't get much more out of being here today. Hunter was giving her the polite dismissal. He was busy. She'd come back later. Lenna nodded.
"Alright. That's fine." She aimed a glance towards the door, and took a step. "I was leaving, wasn't I? Before I got distracted. Heh. Well, it was nice meeting you, Andrea." A nod to her. "And nice meeting you, Mr. Antonescu. I'll see you Wednesday. Thanks."
With that, Lenna walked out the door, leaving Andrea to talk with the immortal vampire. Today hadn't been conclusive. She'd have to come back Wednesday to learn more.
>>"I doubt that while running from the police they'd back track toward the crash. We're lookin' for probably a four or five star hotel."
Lenna put a hand to her chin, and looked away. Hrm... that was also likely. And knowing the type of personality Lori seemed to have, it only made sense it'd be a grand hotel, not one built in squalor.
Michael listed a variety of choices. The Palace, Four Seasons, Jumeirah Essex, Velafont... Lenna took note. According to him, Velafont was the closest.
>>"I'm defiantly interested, but in the meantime let's take care a the body-swap mess."
"Sure."
He was interested. That was good. Now that that was out of the way... "You were saying something about a hotel?" Lenna asked. "Where would that be?" It was a lead. "The nearest hotel from the crash site's the most likely... hmm..." It was too bad she didn't have a phone book or a map to look that up.
The girl, Lenna quickly realized, was not so good at dart-throwing. The dart went wide. Wide, and low... into the wall. "Er... nice throw?" Lenna offered.
The girl seemed distracted by her own hands, now. Was she all there? She asked Lenna is she felt heavy.
Ah... Lenna noted. So that was it. Her aura must've been affecting the woman in front of her somehow. She didn't immediately claim responsibility, however. Lenna didn't feel like getting looked down upon for her 'power'. The mutants wouldn't like having a 'mutant' around them that weakened their powers, now would they? And she wasn't going to give anyone the full 'Adapted' story. They hadn't earned the truth. Lenna had to play that close to the belt.
A blond behind her spoke, and Lenna glanced to the new player in the scene. She let her talk. Lots of questions, that one. Then, Deirdra introduced herself.
"Name's Lenna," Lenna replied. "Those men before didn't like losing. It's a shame when good players turn out to be such sore losers..."
She glanced to the other woman. "Are you okay? Maybe you should sit down..." She didn't want her falling, now, and she definitely didn't want accusations flying around... or throwing darts at her. "We could do some other activity." Lenna suggested. "I'm game."
For each type of gun, there were suggested grips. Some people preferred one over another. Lenna was much the same. She watched Alexandra demonstrate the grip she thought was correct. Andrea was close, but...
"Let me demonstrate the different kinds of grips. Some are better than others, depending on what kind of gun you use. The key thing in handgun grips is to find something that feels right. It needs to be comfortable. It also must allow access to key controls, let you pull the trigger, and prevents movement of the gun during recoil."
"First things, first." She held up her index finger on her right hand. "You want to engage the face of the trigger with either the first pad or the joint on your index finger. You want to be able to apply an even amount of pressure, pulling the trigger all the way so that the hammer or striker releases."
Lenna looked up towards the ceiling. "Computer. Give me a revolver." She held out her hand. A revolver appeared within. This one had a black grip and polished chrome. "You grip a revolver with the strong hand, web of the hand high on the backstrap just below the hump. The barrel should be in line with the axis of the forearm." She demonstrated. "You hold the trigger like I said, with the first pad, the or joint. For single-action shooting, the thumb should be placed high on the frame alongside the hammer. In this position it can also be used to cock the hammer."
"For double action, change the thumb placement. Lock it down," She pressed it against the side of the grip, "Like so, to provide maximum leverage for the index to control the long, heavy trigger pull."
"For a two-handed revolver grip, don't change anything up. Cup the supporting hand around the strong hand, keeping it in place with a good grip. That helps provide you with a steady platform for trigger control. The thumb of the supporting hand can either be placed on top of the strong one, or laid across the back of the wrist, just like this." Lenna said, showing Alexandra as she spoke. "From either position the supporting hand thumb can be used to cock the hammer for single-action fire."
"With the auto pistol grip," Lenna looked to the ceiling. "Computer, replace revolver with auto pistol. Thank you." She continued, with the new gun. "You take the gun up in the strong hand the same way, with the web of the hand placed high into the tang of the backstrap with the fingers wrapped firmly around the frontstrap. Engage the pistol the same way, first pad, or joint, to apply strong pressure. Use a high thumb position, like this."
Again, she showed the proper grip.
"With double-action pistols, a lower thumb hold can be used to help control the heavy, long trigger pull. And with the two-handed hold, the supporting hand is cupped over the strong hand, with fingers laid over those gripping the pistol to form a platform under the trigger guard. Place the thumb of the supporting hand over, or alongside, the thumb of the strong hand... and make certain," She looked Alexandra in the eye, "The supporting hand's thumb isn't placed across the back of the wrist of the strong hand... because, therein lies trouble. When you hold it that way, the thumb can get hit by the cycling of the slide during firing. And we do not want that. Got all that?"
The Ex-Ranger's interest was piqued. Lenna went on.
"His name, I can't tell you straight up. He... sorta has something on me to keep those details under wraps. But he's good, and he's powerful. He wants to bring about peace on a worldwide scale... and I know, lots of people say that." She held up a hand to stall any dismissals. "I believe him. That's got to count for something. The fact he's already done something to prove his powers of control helps."
He'd done more than just that. Not only was he controlling her... he had her ex-boss under his thumb. She imagined he probably had others. It seemed like he'd done that before.
"As for what you'd be doing, I'm not sure. But I'm certain we could put your talents to excellent use. I need to contact him soon. He gave me a job offer the last time we met. If you wanted, I could give him information on you... once we get this body-swap situation under control. Would you be interested? I know from interactions in the past that he hires all sorts. Each gets to put their own strengths in play. I'm sure you'd accomplish something. I can promise you that much."
Andrea didn't just describe, she demonstrated. It seemed that her aura didn't affect Andrea's touch-based abilities as severely as it affected her appearance. That was noteworthy. If she ever came upon a mutant with a strong mutation, she'd have to be certain not to rely on that aura of hers. She wouldn't give them any quarters, and she wouldn't go easy.
At least, until her aura grew strong enough to negate everything. When that day came... hrm. She probably wouldn't be a very good spy for the Order anymore. She hoped it was a long time in the future.
Lenna nodded at Andrea's demonstration. "Impressive." Rock-hard cloth. Scary.
As for her other power... it was apparently, sight-based. Lenna wondered if she would have weakened that one more than the other.
She swung her attention back to Mr. Antonescu. He wasn't dismissing her yet. She looked to Andrea for the answer. She might stick around longer, if they'd have her. This was interesting, and the longer she spent... hmm.
>>"Of course, would you like me to go get it for you?"
"Okay," Lenna replied, though it didn't seem like the hairdresser cared much about her answer. The woman went off to get her the water, quick as she could. "'Kay..." Lenna blinked.
Well then... she'd just have to wait. Hrm. And no coffee to drink. She made a face.
Sigh.
Why had there been a spider in her coffee, really? That still boggled her mind.
Hrm... maybe someone was acting up due to her aura? That'd be funny... and oddly karmic. It was a long stretch, though. Eh. She shrugged the thought off, plopping down on the chair again. Lenna crossed her legs, and snagged the magazine she'd been reading. She let it flop open, and distracted herself with National Geographic. She flicked past the stories on spiders. Those didn't appeal to her much anymore.
"I see." Lenna was silent a moment, then she went on. "What if I told you... I knew a guy who could put you to work doing something for the greater good?"
