The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Rico landed like any bird would at the entrance of the stone monastery that dated before Christ was born. He moved with each step of his hind legs in unison with the wing joints of his wyvern form. In the open space of the passages end a human mercenary stood. "So this is were you have been hiding the soldier of futune said.
Rico extended his wing arms with his chest to the ground and took in a deep breath. "Impossible........" He hissed, I ate you.
The human with a clean shaven head making him no different then any military soul on the planet chuckled.
"Yes you did, you ate my right arm, my right liver along with the right side of my rib cage along with my right leg but you know what."
"I have been upgraded, such is the miracle of science."
With that the human showed off his cybernetic arm and leg.
"You might think this whole attack was for some selfish research reason for a greedy company like I use to work for before. But the truth is my employer just wants the best of the best of those that fit the mutation strain of dragons. I think I got what my boss wants. But still..... If you want to prove me wrong I will set your matriarch free and you can take her place as the prey of the rich and famous on a island to be hunted and to have your skull be mounted on a wall."
"Are you the destroyer and eater of the world who chews at the roots of the life tree? Show me why I should let your leader free and take you in her stead."
At that the human known as Slate to Rico charged at him and threw several flat object that stuck to the surface of the walls and ceiling to explode. A battle would erupt on the top of the world were humanity with there science would face off with a mutant. Sadly it would be humanity that won as it always did.

The cold and snow hit the Himalayas hard. Even the humans who dared to venture here were struggling even despite the oxygen tanks on there backs feeding air to there face and the insulated clothing under there helmets and IBA's. One of the mercenary soldiers stood over the dead body of a reptile like creature and gave its head a good kick. "Damn mutant freaks", his radio call said with a bit of static behind the oxygen mask that fogged up with each exhalation of breath that left the mask in a thick cloud. "Did you see how many armor piercing rounds it took to kill the thing? Peaceful monks my ass, they should just lay down and accept death with no resistance."
"Hey, did you hear me?" The human asked in the sudden surge of wind and snow that he could not see one foot in front of him. Turning around the sudden gust of wind and blinding snow calmed and his eyes went wide at the sight of blood covering everything in a crystalized carpet of red at this altitude. Panting the human soldier turned on the mobile FLIR device built into his oxygen mask. Moving in the low ready position with his assault rifle the human spoke lowly and with each breath a pocket of visible air escaped his mask. "Think you are some hot stuff eh freak. I have hunted your kind all my life. You cant escape me dragon....... come on out you mother fuc".
It was the last thing the human said as a shadowy bat winged like creature came out the blizzard to eat the human alive.
Further in the stone walled monastery others were busy getting a giant reptile like creature under control. "Make sure the helmet is on secure to block her neural pathways!" A human commander barked. "I don't fancy all of us shooting ourselves in the head if she is allowed to be free, keep her sedated." The human mercenary stopped talking to listen to some radio traffic and let out a chuckle. "After all these years it was here you have been hiding Níðhǫggr."
Waving his hand the sedated body of the matriarch that was the leader of this mutant ashram was being dragged away. "Come and get me"..... The commander whispered.
'Hmmm...', the Matriarchs thoughts said as they coursed through Rico's mind. 'Living on a farm alone could indicated a feeling of isolation or peace.' After pausing the old serpent moved a bit and closed her eyes only for time itself to stop at her wish, the flakes of the snow moving in slow motion like they would in a movie.
Opening her eyes she added, 'The appearance of the men could indicate a fear of the past coming back. There glowing eyes being the hunger that you have, the hunger to devour all things that your body and cells desire. As for the death and devastation in the park, that I would think is a feeling of unresolved things, a thing you have to come to terms with. You told me New York is where it all began, perhaps it is time you went back and found closure.'
Rico did not like this idea and let his lower jaw hang open to give a very dark and evil laugh that would carry for miles in the winds of the mountain. "You would wish me to live among the humans? There existence is a plague, a parasite upon the world. I would devour them all, I would devour this world to rid it of those, things."
The old dragon shifted her head to look into Rico's eyes with her cloudy ones. 'You think so little of humans, yet you forget you were raised by them and are in fact a human. Not like us as you can take there form, but you are human.' Her psychic voice entered Rico's mind but he was not quite convinced.
"What about me looks human?" Rico growled and opened his jaws a few inches from the Matriarchs face revealing his sharp teeth and the strands of drool connecting them, not that she could see. "We are not like mutants or humans. If you looked into my mind you would know that. All those labs all the experiments, mutants were there as well as humans, they all hate us.'
I spent time at a school run and led by mutants for mutants. They could not help me and I could smell there fear. They could not help with the hunger for human flesh. They hated me. It was only a matter of time until they sold or gave me away to the very ones that experimented on me. So I ran away and you were the only one that could help me. We don't need the world, let it burn".
'Who do you hate Rico?' The old female lizards voice said as it entered his mind on top of the mountain. "Humans? Mutants? Or is it the world?' Rico's answer was quick and simple.
"I am what the world has made me. It wants me to be a monster, why should I not be a monster. I will give them what they want."
'I can feel that your mind is troubled.' The calm voice said in his mind. 'Perhaps you should take time in the hollow of solitude carved in the mountain cliffs to reflect with mala in hand and mantra on mind.'
Rico shifted out of the mass of other mutants like himself and instantly was hit with the cold Tibetan air. 'Or you can come keep me company. It is beautiful out here tonight.' Rico liked that idea more then going to spend a few hours in meditation in a hollow carved in the side of the mountain.
Following the tunnel out of the cave Rico spread his wings and let the air currents take him up to were the matriarch was. She was a old mutant from what he gathered and very well might be the oldest living thing on the planet. Perhaps even the first mutant with the particular mutation powers he and all the others in the ashram shared. Rico was not surprised he ended up here. In his travels he encountered a group of all psychics. That he would be at home among a group of mutants that are lizard or dragon like in one way or another was pretty normal.
We all stick to our own kind. He once heard before. World leaders stick to world leaders as company. Same went for movie stars and the rich. We all stuck to our own kind.
Rico landed on the mountain ledge and closed his wings to nestle alongside the old mutant in all her grey and white scaled glory. She flicked out her forked tongue to get a better sense of everything as her eyes were very much blind and white with cataract. Rico in turned did the same and stopped when she did. "I still wake up with hunger for......" Rico did not finish his words as the Matriarch did it for him.
'The flesh of man?' Rico took a deep breath in and exhaled a thick cloud of air into the cold high altitude air that no human could survive without a oxygen tank. "Yesssss". He replied with a long hiss. Rico would have asked why the old mutant always talked in his mind but he already got that answer years ago. When you reach her age talking with words instead of the mind was a waste of energy.
It was there on top of the world that he revealed his dream to the matriarch of his ashram, the matriarch of his clan.
Rico woke up from his nightmare as he always did among his family. Those who were part of the brood, part of the ashram.
His family were a mass of flesh, feathers, scales, and tails. At the moment he grunted and pushed a dangling reptilian creatures foot out his face in the gaggle of bodies in the cave with a wing joint. Not soon after a tail fell down out the mass to to cover his face. Tempted as he was to bite the tail he did not.
'Your sleep is troubled my child'. A voice said into his mind.
'Yes matriarch'. Rico thought knowing she would read it.
'I am haunted by nightmares'.
'Of my future, and worst, my past.'
Rico spoke this time, "I do not want to hurt our..... my, family. Our clan....."
"I stopped caring about revenge a long time ago. The government knows this. Something is not right." Rico said angrily. "Who are you people and why are you here!" Rico demanded.
"We are here for you". The two human figures said in unison like twins with eyes glowing white as bright as the sun.
"All time stands still on this mountain. All life we devour like vanished colonies of times past. We will devour you and your world.'
Everything started to distort and Rico shook his head as the air grew wavy and the air heavy as if he was in a desert. "I don't know what you things are but you have no idea what it is to devour life! I will devour you!" Rico continued moving to the figures and extended a hand only to watch it start to break apart slowly in particles of dust.
"You cannot devour us, we are a god that has existed since ancient times. We are the beginning".....
Rico continued to walk forward and spoke right before he took hold of one of the entities throats. "I am the end"
It was not a pretty sight to devour a person much less a god. But still it was done and Rico awoke in an instant on the opposite side of the planet in central park with every living thing in the park dead. Human, mutant, and plants alike. "I am Croatoan". Rico said in a dazed state and in his dragon form. Standing up and limping out of the crater in the middle of the park he did not notice the words carved in all the dead trees among all the dead bodies. "Croatoan....."
Sitting at a small table Rico motioned with a hand. "Take a seat anywhere you can find one, there should be a bucket or two over there. If not the ground should do if your not to proud." The supposed leader of the two suits looked over the structures interior and did not even bother to hide the wrinkled nose of distain. "So this is what you have been doing with yourself all these years, running a yak farm? You look about as hairy as the beasts you tend".
If Rico was offended about the jab at his long hair and beard he did not show any sign of it, if anything, he looked disinterested. "Yup, Yack are useful unlike people. They give me meat, furs, and labor. The milk is not half bad either. So enough with the song and dance. I take it you used a mutant to locate me. So tell me why you went to all the trouble finding me. Be quick about it, I'm getting bored and hungry."
The lead agent took a folder out a briefcase and put it on the table wordlessly. Rico picked it up and looked through the contents for a moment before tossing it back down towards the agents. "I must admit this is a interesting job you got for me. A crashed spy satellite out in the middle of the Gobi Desert. Sounds like something right out of a movie or book. But what I fail to understand is why this concerns me? Why should I give a damn and why should I not eat you both and smash that stupid helicopter sitting out there on my land.'
As if to send home the message Rico stood up abruptly and let out a inhuman growl as his eyes started to turn yellow and snake like. The other agent having been quiet thus far reached in his coat to grab the weapon out its holster but the lead agent put a hand on his shoulder to calm the man. "We know the location of that PMC lab you were looking for years ago and not the one that you trashed out in California in the Mohave.'
When the black hawk finally settled and the rotors slowed to a stop "G men" type figures came off the helicopter in suits and black shades. Rico never understand what it was with Americans.... or humans in general for that matter, that thought social status was determined by ones apparel. Rico never much liked suits, or ties, they always got stuck in between his teeth.
"Brave souls to come here into my mountains", Rico said with a tone of amusement. "Did management not tell you? Here there be dragons".
"That and I am a respected member of the NCP party here in Nepal. I might be seen as a traitor for even talking to you".
With that Rico turned around and turned to the small structure that was his home. "Well? Come on and tell me what you want and be on your way humans. But If you are here about me flying over to kill anyone in Pakistan or China, I don't eat people or mutants just because I'm told to anymore. Since I spent some time in a Ashram in Tibet and here in Nepal. I try not to eat people anymore...... you I might make an exception.'
Rico sat up in his bed and stretched, the wooden frame he slept on creaked and popped almost in tune with his bones. Standing up and allowing the fur skins to fall free from his body Rico walked out of his simple humble home as naked as the day he was born. Taking in a deep breath of the cold, clean mountain air Rico exhaled a cloud as if he was smoking.
It was another beautiful day in the Himalayas and Rico felt content and happy..... up until the point he actually felt cold. Dressing up in animal skins he took a walking stick and turned to walking the mountain lands that his yak farm covered.
Out of nowhere a military black hawk appeared, the downwash of its rotors scared off the yak and caused the grass lands to kick up fuss. Shaking his head Rico could not help but grumble, "Damn Americans".
At the moment he really wanted to turn into his dragon form and destroy the helicopter. Not to mention devouring the survivors. But he would give the arrivals a chance to explain themselves and give a reason why he should not kill and eat them all. If these were the kind of Americans he thought they were, they would not dare intrude on his solitude unless they had to. The American government knew better.
been awhile, but I'm back. Ugh, now I feel new all over again. I better get started on reading up on things. That and creating a new char, doubt my old ones around.
With how hard hurricane Irma hit the Caribbean where I live I will have to leave for a bit. I tried posting something recently. But I find it hard to write. I don't really feel any love for it at the moment. I don't feel much of anything. I feel numb. I might come back after a bit. I might not. I don't know at the moment. If I do not come back after a few months feel free to have my character be put up for others to use.
Rico had to blink several times to adjust his thoughts at the voice and clear the blurriness from his eyes, after a few shakes of his head, and a few shameless scratches with the main wing join in some nameless places like the typical shameless male he was, Rico's vision finally cleared and a figure came into focus.
"Why hello there, great dragon. I didn't know there were any other dragons out there either. Such a pleasure to see I was wrong."
Rico could not help but laugh at the other mutants words. "There are no dragons, they are nothing but myth and legend. But if you mean it is nice to see a fellow mutant......", at that he paused before adding. "Then Its a pleasure to meet you." Still resting his chin on the rock he studied her with curious eyes and spoke. "My name is RIco, though most choose to call me Níðhöggr because of my appetite. So tell me, is your name as pretty as you are?"
Yes he was shamelessly flirting. But flirting was just a fun game in Rico's eyes. A fun game that sometimes yielded rewards, other times not so much. But it was all just still, a fun game.
"Don't give up on the idea of mystery. There are many mysteries in the world, you just have to know how to look."
Rico agreed with her in a way, but there were a lot of mystery's in the world he just was not sure if he wanted to know. He once read somewhere that some mystery's should be left alone, that some mystery's should not be discovered. This was the one he believed, but still mystery and adventure called to him constantly. Rico had also read in a book as well that it was only natural for young males to want travel and adventure. That was how they spread there seed and ensured the species survival, but that thinking dwelled more on philosophy and the mystery's of the subconscious mind.
"I'm mostly a ground hunter. Currently, I have only one flight form and it mostly feeds on fish and plankton. As a deinonychus, I hunt by stealth and ambush. However, if you're looking for something a little more showy, I recently acquired a boar crock form. Over 6 feet long and weighing just over a ton, intimidation and shear strength are its strong suites."
Rico had to blink his eyes rapidly for a moment as he tried to process one of her words. "Deino what? Sorry but that word is a little to rich for my blood but I will take your word for it." He had no idea what a boar crock was either, but Rico had the imagination for it, already he was picturing the mental image of what the offspring of a wild razor back and a crocodile would look like, it was not a pretty image.
"I kind of envy you the ability to change forms with so many things. All I can do is change between my human form and this one. The process in between is not pretty to watch and very painful, but pain is something you get used to." At that Rico closed his eyes to try and remember the sensation. "Turning back to my human form always leaves me feeling weak and vulnerable, but...... In the end I feel human. Changing from my human form to this one brings pain, but with it the feeling of power surging through my veins and body..... less human. I prefer feeling human, my mind is my own for the most part, less feral, less hungry."
The mansion and therapy had helped Rico gain control of his form, but if there was one thing Rico feared, it was himself. He saw himself as his own worst enemy. "As for hunting, I don't really care how you wish to do it", he said lowly and with a hint of sadness as he was lost in old memories. "I'm good at killing stuff no matter how you do it."
Rico grumbled as he left the world of dreams, in part anyway, rolling onto his back without even opening his eyes the wyvern took a wing joint talon to scratch his chest then went down to scratch between his legs with no shame or even awareness there was another there. The female voice was still partly on his mind though and Rico grumbled. "Five more minutes mom". A curious young squirrel had hopped up close to the sleeping wyvern but had to flee rather quickly as Rico rolled over onto his side and nearly crushed the poor little thing.
It scampered up the dead rotting trunk of the tree Rico was sleeping under and cursed out the sleeping wyvern in its kinds own way with angry chattering. The world seemed to work in mysterious ways and in a strange act of karma, the rotting tree limb the squirrel was on broke off and fell down to smash in two right over Rico's head.
Snorting and raising his head the wyvern blurted out. "I'm up! I'm up!" Blinking his eyes rapidly until all the foggy white was gone from his vision a small figure came into view. It was a small creature no bigger then one of those large house cats old lady's always seemed to have on there laps. This creature was a sight more pretty though with the mixture of bright blue and purple. With the tail and wings he could safely say it was like a small version of him.
"Hello", Rico said to the little dragon and moved his neck to rest a chin on a large rock and watch intently, not with hungry eyes, but ones that were full of curiosity. "I always thought I was alone, it is wonderful to see others like myself."
"The faces are the things that change. They're the things that give a place like this light and life."
Rico was a bit taken back by that comment, he had never really thought about it until now, her words held wisdom in them that he was not accustomed to hearing. It was not really surprising when you came to think of it. The school was full of teens and wise words were not exactly there strong point, if anything, the students were given to just blurting out what came to mind and that led to more then a few fights breaking out.
"I've been to the Amazon jungles. I didn't find any lost civilization, but I did find very good hunting."
Rico was a bit disappointed to here this news and expressed it by sighing and lowering his head. "I just kind of hoped.....", Rico trailed off with his words before adding. "I guess I just kind of hoped that there was still mystery in this world. I read some interesting books from the Mansion library about the lost city of Z among other things. They painted out the Amazon to be such a mysterious, wild, and free place. I guess my enthusiasm was a bit childish in the end."
"If you would like to hunt with a partner I would be happy to oblige. It's rare I have another to hunt by my side, despite being a pack animal by nature. Talking, however, is difficult when shifted. I lack proper human vocal chords."
What disappointment Rico had shown at the news about the amazon disappeared as his eyes and head perked up. "Do not worry about speaking, humans only speak because of there dull senses. We are creatures of nature and nature has no rules that can be put on it. We will find a way to communicate by scent, or body language. So how do you wish to go about the hunt then rookery sister? I think we should go in fast and hard to cause a panic and pick off the old and sick that fall behind from the group."
