The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Humans are so frail sometimes, thought Hades as Noel fell. The thought flashed through Hades mind and was immediately replaced by concern. He turned to Noel as he landed intending to ask her if she was alright, but his question died on his lips as she seemed to attack him, her movements smooth, her feet sure, as if it was not her. He could not read the expression, correction, expressions that flashed across her face. The style that she was using was not the style of a martial artist, no it was something much darker. Hades was holding off her attacks, but not without difficulty. It had been a long day, an emotional one at that. Discovering his past, not having fully processed it. He was emotionally exhausted and physically tired and a little distracted as to which portion of his history Noel might have slipped into. Judging by the style it was definitely not the earlier period. No the style was far too dark for that. Oddly it was darker than what he learned at Raven Spire. No it was something he had learned after that?
She shifted stance and her shoulder twitched, they way one does but before launching an attack. Hades suddenly felt chilled. It all became crystal clear. When he had learned the style and that particular move. Obscure close quarter combat move, a knockout move but one where the opponent was trapped, no matter which way you dodged there were always counter moves, the only way to neutralize that move was to strike first and strike faster. Hades did so, time seemed to slow. Who would land first?
Hades saw black.

Jack was wavering in and out of concisousness. Something, manythings in his body were broken, he could tell that he was hurt badly. He wavered on the edge of concisness. He came to only to see the abomination standing before him. With one lung punctured Jack could not speak very loudly or very fast. When he spke it was punctuated by gasps. "You *Gasp* and your kind are an abomination. Why *gasp* don't all of you do yourselves *wheeze* and the world a favour and kill yourselves. *Cough*"
In a defiant gesture gathered his strength and spat, aiming at Alex's feet. It fell far short. Having expended so much energy, Jack lapsed mercifully into unconscious. As he drifted away he thought to himself that at least he did not have to stand that repulsive creature in his unconscious mind. He could escape from the blight of mutants on this earth, for now.
Hades walked towards Alex. In the same authoritative tone that he used during training he spoke to Alex. "Alex! Stand Down! That's enough!"
Hades placed an arm on Alex's wrist. "Enough." He said softly. After retrieving the knife and ensuring that Alex would not "fly off the handle" so to speak or attempt to attach the down men he gestured to both his students and headed outside.
Hades stopped at a quiet part of the grounds in a ring of tall trees.
"Jude, well done back there, you kept cool and calm and used your mind."
He turned on Alex. "You!You almost got yourself killed. In a tactical situation remember this mantra, first save yourself then your buddy then others. In situations like this you and your buddy" He indicated Jude "Have at least some training, you don't know if others have or not, so first save yourself then your buddy, so that together you have the most strategic resources at your disposal to do the most good."
He waited for the response of his two students. Dear lord when did he start taking young-lings under his wing. He was getting soft. Jude would probably respond with a question or two, he seemed to be the more level headed one. Alex was probably going to vent. explode in rage and then calm down. He was a good kid at heart but he had much growing and maturing to do. Either that or there was a depth that Hades so far had not seen.

The two teens, who may/ may not have been mutants pretty much did the worst thing one could do when facing an uncertain group of drunkards, they ran. Often times when facing a collection of inebriants, one still has a chance if you stand your ground. Hades spared them a second's thought, chided himself for getting soft then turned to face the remaining miscreants. Evidently this group of drunks liked some excitement as most of them turned to chase after the two youths. For their sakes he hoped that they were indeed mutants with a "useful" mutation, that or were good at running or both, otherwise it might be a rough night for them.
Everyone has days like this, days where you are just so fed up and aggravated, days where your mind decides to do something a little crazy. Hades was usually efficient, to the point, a killing machine, not a movement wasted, not one for flair but today, well today he was feeling a little crazy. Drawing up his British accent, he proceeded to deal with the remaining thugs. "As a good man once told me" *Punch* "Manners" *twin punch to two windpipes* "Maketh" *Slam the heads of the aforementioned thugs together* "A man" *Spin kicks the last thug. Still in character he shrugged his shoulders and spoke to the unconscious men. "My apologies for that, I have had an emotionally trying day". He dropped out of his character impersonation, rolled his shoulders and headed out into the night to retrieve his car.
The Mercedes purred smoothly as he backed out of the parking space, after a few turns he was just about to exit the narrow roaded neighborhood when he spotted the two youths fleeing the mob of drunkards which looked liked they had grown in size. Common sense told Hades not to get involved. He had places to be tomorrow, missions to do. His foot hovered over the accelerator, then. With a growl he whipped the car around. Was he going soft in his old age? Perhaps he had been in the killing business too long. He drove the car between the youths and the mob, spinning the back end so as to knock the mob away. Winding down the back window he turned his head and shouted "Get in!"
Turning his head was a mistake, for a rock smashed through the driver side window, shattering it. Hades barely had time to turn his head before a beefy arm thrust through the window and slammed hims twice against the door, before yanking him bodily out of the car, through the window, smashing the remains of the window out, drawing blood to deposit the stunned Hades outside the car, suspended in mid air with his throat being crushed by a particularly monstrous specimen.

She was good, and she learned fast. He could tell by the slight hesitancy here, a slight wobble there that perhaps more practice was needed, but other than that there were few indications that this was the first time that Noel had ever seen, much less performed those moves. Internally Hades nodded, his respect for her rose one notch higher.
It was an interesting experience, honoring memories and laying them to rest through martial arts. In some ways it was like archaeology by martial arts forms. The experience was all the more surreal as Hades was not laying them to rest on his own. Instead he was reenacting them, reliving them to some extent with a woman, Noel, who he had only recently met, by chance, at a bar. Not only that, but in a short amount of time she knew more about his past in ways that he did and knew so much about him that even people he had served with would, could never know. In his multi-millennial lifetime this was a rather unique situation and Hades was not completely sure how to respond.
He had trusted her and she had not betrayed his trust. In his profession and as a person, Hades valued honesty, trust and loyalty above all else. One could say that they were the coins of his realm, the currency that he most respected and recognized.
All this flashed through his mind as they came to the end of that period. Hades was feeling a little tired but could go on for a time yet. Wordlessly, for to use words might break the moment, the atmosphere that was doing so much to help him process the maelstrom of emotions and memories that surged, and roiled within him, Hades moved to the center 18 x 18 square of Lilly pad plum flower piles and formed the opening pose of Act I of The Way of The Shadow. As he struck the pose he remembered the training where the students would all move in sync, one chasing the other as they went through the movements of Act I "Shifting Shapes and Changing Shadows". It was the art of moving with illusions, seeming to move in one direction while moving in another, it was fluid, perfect for moving in shadows, it was fast and above all it was practiced on surfaces that would wobble when you landed on them. It trained balance.
Would she accept and fly with him together around the piles or would she retire to process. Would he prefer to be alone or continue on doing this, whatever this was.

A well dressed businessman rounded the corner. He had just been to a days worth of meetings. He wore a tailored suit and walked with the air of a british gentry. He wanted to get to his car and was reasonably certain that this alley way was a shortcut. He recalled coming this way from the only parking space he could find with a slight shudder, picking his way daintily through the rubbish. Hopping over puddles of dubious nature and assorted detrius. He had tried to go the well lit route but some idot on the planning board decided to start road construction and had closed the bloody sidewalk.
He walked forward and was disconcerted to find his way inconsiderately blocked. Blocked by hooligans no less, drunk hooligans, drunk hooligans who had just been partying and possibly imbibing narcotics by the stench of them. The businessman wrinkled his nose. If they soiled his suit...
"Ehem, Excuse me!" The accicent was British, upper class, clearly announciated. "Would you mind terribly letting me through, I need to get to my car." No response. Apparently the twits had found two unfortunate mutants to pick on. The businessman tried again, louder this time. "Excuse me!" He said tring to get past. This time he succeded in getting someones attention. A brute built like a builder rounded on him. "What U want." He slurred. "I want to get past. My car is at the other end of the alley." "Are you a mutie?" The inebriated lout asked. "Dont be stupid, hez one of those god-dammed wall street business people always running about as if they owned the dam place." said another. "Tell him to go away, we got muties here to play wif and one of them is a pretty girlie." a voice laughed cruely. "He might call the cops. I say we knock him flat, take his money and then deal with these muties." "I'll deal with him." "You get him Mac" "Gentleman, gentleman I must protest." The businessman began. He stopped as one particularly pungent member of the group started to advance on him in a decidedly menacing fashion. The conclusion of the encounter seemed a foregone conclusion. The businessman looked too frightened to defend himself. Perhaps one more predatory in nature might have been able to pick up a faint ... something that did not seem right. The faintest of smells of oiled steel (Hades would never go anywhere without at least one concealed backup weapon) and perhaps the faintest glimmer of something in his eye and stance.
The businessman sighed. "Oh well, I tried to be diplomatic. Thank you kind sir for giving me an excuse to break form." And with that, the businessman was no more. In his place was a different creature altogether. Before he had stood stiff and straight, now he moved with a predatory, almost fluid grace. He had not moved, only changed his posture, but that change spoke volumes if one knew how to read it.
It was good to drop his cover, partly because playing the proper businessman for almost a week was tiring, and being polite to rude people was just plain annoying. It was also a relief to be in a place where there were no cameras so he could drop the charade.
"Bloody rich white guys, thinking they owned the place, take this." Yelled the drunkard as he swung a right haymaker at Hades, his ham sized fist whistling through the air. Hades remained motionless till the last moment, the he flowed. Slapping away the punch with his left hand while stepping forward and reaching out his right hand to violently and efficiently pull the mans face towards his rapidly rising knee. *Crunch*. Hades then put one hand on each of the mans shoulders and propped him up only to launch a vicious Muay Thai knee lunge into the mans' solar plexus. He casually pushed the incapacitated man to one side, letting him fall to the ground. Then just stood there, a piercing look on his face, seeming very at home in the dimly lit street.

At his words Hades first slapped his right fist against his heart, then his right palm. He bowed his head for a moment, a warriors apology.
"My apologies Panu. It has been... a long time since I worked with one so.. unique."
He paused for a moment, gathering his thoughts. Panu wanted to be treated as a team member, very well, Hades would give him that chance. It would mean potentially trusting Panu with his life, but if even half of what he heard about Panu was accurate, then the risk was worth it to gain such a teammate. That offer would also come with ... responsibilities and consequences.
Without thinking Hades scanned the environment, noting that they were not within earshot of anyone and in a offered a modicum of privacy by a number of plants. He turned to Panu.
"The real objective is to remove obstacles and get advantages, or as some call it asset denial and acquisition."
He took a breath.
"In short there is a conglomeration, a group of companies that have been working against our employer. We suspect they have ties to illegal trade, gangs, mercenaries, weapons and drug smuggling and the like. There is precious little evidence however. They leave very little if any electronic trace, the account and contact details are contained either in a physical book or a standalone chip and reading device. The first step in removing this obstacle is to get that book, it is called the black book."
"I have two options, the first is to ghost in and out, leaving no trace that I was ever there and planting false evidence to arouse suspicion among the ranks, the other option is to sanitize said location and leave no evidence behind. I would prefer the first, but to do that I need a comms specialist, someone to be my digital and electronic eyes and ears, someone to monitor all communications, be the ghost in the machine, ensure that I am not seen and plant false digital evidence. There is limited information on the targets & layouts so I will be trusting you with my life to scout ahead and assist me in avoiding detection. It does not stop there however. Once we have the book, it will contain numbered accounts and contact details, I need someone to monitor phone calls to these contacts and accounts as I can guarantee you that within 24 hours of the black book being stolen, they will communicate to change the passwords and account numbers, methods of contacting allies, passwords and meeting locations. That is what we are ultimately after, the ability to make them turn on each other and make a giant conglomeration tear itself apart while siphoning off their funds and resources."
He paused for another breath, then continued, this was turning into a full on briefing.
"Once this first mission is successful, we have less than a day to hit two more targets to plant a trail of convincing evidence, with the added benefit that it will deprive Faust Pharmaceuticals of a business partner. So, Panu," Hades said turning to look directly at the young Finn. "The black book will remain at this location for another" He looked at his watch "Two hours and fifteen minutes. Are you in or out?" He said extending a hand to Panu.

Hades parked his bike close to the prison but hidden by a hill. He was dressed simply in a form fitting black suit. He brought his blades and throwing knives and a silenced pair of pistols.
With the main power and the electric fences down, getting into the prison was easy. Once inside he pulled on his balaclava. As a tribute to Aura and the Order he would be sure to leave their symbol prominently around. He was sure she would appreciate the gesture. Silent and unnoticed as shadow he slipped down to the basement where a pair of guards were standing watch as a technicians coaxed the backup generators online.
Two short swords were horizontally strapped to the small of Hades back. When the sword smith had forged them, he had christened them flash as that was the first and last thing their targets would see.
The guards were joking back and forth. "...So what are you doing for valentines da..." *Flash* Both guards fell silently to the floor. The Lights to the generator room suddenly went out. "Hey who turned out the ligh..." *Flash*. Hades punctured the fuel supply to both of the generators and left the last guard cowering in darkness. They man was a threat to no one, moaning in the corner. If the man attempted to light the emergency flare at his belt he would seal his own fate in a fiery blaze of glory. Hades made sure to flick the symbol of the order in the deceased blood on the wall. He also drew a smaller Rangnarok symbol in a corner of the hallway outside. It was his duty to do so after all. All in the name of sowing chaos.
That taken care of there was still one more source of backup power, the battery banks that still kept the mag-locked cell & security doors operational.
He poised above the control center, he was crouched on a structural I beam from which the lighting panels were hung. He had quietly prized back one of the insulation panels from the false ceiling and took in the scene. He looked down at the frenzy of activity as the staff tried to bring everything under control. Snippets of conversation drifted up to him from below.
In the basement, Tobais was quaking. This thing of shadows had come and killed two hardened guards before his very eyes. He was an electrical technician. He did no sign up for this. He was barely keeping the panic at bay. There was a liquid slowly oozing across the floor, what that blood. He could not take it any more. He seized the emergency flare that he kept on his belt and lit it. He gasped... the was enveloped in a flash of blinding light and heat.
Far above Hades felt the vibration, then the alarms started sounding.
>Awaiting further instructions he texted.

As the man's hand tightened on the trigger Hades had the presence of mind to phase. Even so he was a little late. A few pellets had just broken his skin and were happily on their way to his internal organs when he phased. In his phased state, his senses heightened. He saw the wall of feathers materialize in front of him just in time to take the brunt of the blast. While phased bullets could not hurt him but the shock wave still knock him back to some degree. He was conscious not to phase for very long, just enough to evade most of the damage but not long enough to be seen. If some observant soul was watching closely they might catch a flash of slightly luminescent green but nothing more.
Once again still recovering from the vertigo, Hades slightly misjudged his de-phasing time. He turned corporal just in time for the remainders of the pellets to break his skin on their way out of his body, leaving him with entry and exit woulds that were only skin deep. A quick palm slap on the floor and he was back in stance, the cloud of feathers dissipated in time to reveal a very very angry Hades.
The safeties came off. Hades... saw red. He was still conscious that he was in a school so no killing, but aside from that anything else, everything else was fair game..
Hades moved, it might be more accurate to say he flowed with almost inhuman grace. Dispatching each attacker with one or two strikes, not waiting for the first to fall before attacking, blocking and attacking simultaneously, Hades swept through them. Perhaps the most chilling part of the whole picture, aside from the sounds of course, was that through all of this, Hades expression never changed, it was a blank expressionless mask, with only his green eyes blazing with fury to express his emotion. This was his war mask. Shoulders, hips and joints were dislocated, elbows and knees cracked and snapped, shins and arms broken, concussions dealt, ribs fractured, broken then used to puncture internal organs... The list went on.
Jack was annoyed but not disappointed when he saw birds suddenly come to shield this man. They were in a mutant school after all, these things were to be expected. Holding the gun in one hand he calmly reached for a fragmentation grenade. Bullets this mutant could perhaps block, but explosives? Well there were an entirely different matter. He was halfway to pulling the in with his teeth when there was a blur of movement and suddenly Jack had trouble breathing. The next he knew someones shoulder was against his throat and and arm was around his neck. Suddenly the world turned upside down as his back his the floor... hard. He involuntary let go of both the gun and the grenade. Something was wrong with his back. He faded in and out of consciousness as he watched the rest of his team dispatched by the attacker. Did mutants now have special forces protecting them?
The last attacker fell to reveal Hades with his hands poised to strike, his breathing even, his stance solid. After a second he relaxed a fraction, stood straighter and went off to find his students.

Hades had gotten a last minute invite from Aura. Did he want to break into a prison for a tidy sum? Why ever not? He would welcome the normality of a job, and if his last encounter with Aura was any indication to go by there would be bloodshed. Truth be told he could use the opportunity to let off some steam. Training dummies can only do so much. What with 1000 years worth of memories suddenly downloaded into his brain, learning that he once had a wife and kids that had been murdered... That was a lot to deal with. But tonight there was the job. There was only the job.
Hades messaged Aura back to let him know he was in. The first part went like clockwork. Covert infiltration of a electrical contractor building to obtain plans for the power grid that fed the prison. Private contractors, if you picked the right ones had even less security than government admin buildings and were even less vigilant about missing records. In any case it was a quick in and out job to scan and copy the plans.
The night Aura picked was a good night. In that it was cloudy and there was a storm front moving towards the prison, more importantly, there was thunder... and lightening. Find the power conditioner to the feed for the prison and induce a natural looking breakdown. Next deploy a tripod with a spool of wire, attach one end to the feed and the other end to a rocket. Fire rocket into storm cloud and Voila! Power surge due to lightning strike. With no power conditioner, the massive surge in power hit the prison complex, blowing fuses and tripping breakers. The essential systems immediately switched to backup power but the damage was done. The cell locks still worked but other "non-critical" features were out for the count. Little things like the ultra high voltage, barbed wire topped fence, Auto tracking stun gun turrets and their more lethal bigger brothers, and the potentially annoying halogen high power search lights. Besides backup power could only last for so long, and if that were to ... "break down".... well that might be unfortunate.
His first task completed, Hades gathered up his equipment, hopped on his wrangler and headed towards the prison. He left behind him nothing to suggest that the power surge had be a result of anything more than unfortunate coincidence. Aura had been a little light of some of the details so he had packed a versatile tool kit.
#####Text to Aura "1 is complete(disable mains power), en route. Is 2 (disable backup power) a go or jump to 3 (Join the main raid)? "
Her grip on him loosened, Hades was struck by how physically close they were. It was... unsettling especially considering the memories that had just been unveiled. It appeared that Noel shared similar thoughts.
They seperated as they got to the center of the training room. The pose Noel struck reminded Hades of himself oh so many years ago, the time when he had finally beat his wife to be. Over the years that style had come to mean so many more things. It opened up memories far richer. After they married they would often practice together. One would pick a style and start with it. They would start slow, and gradually increase the speed, a choreographed sparring. Within each style of martial arts is a counter for every attack move, so for martial arts A, attack move 24 can be countered by defensive move 5, 10 or 13 for instance and on it goes. Noel had struck the first post in a style called the "Red Fist". Hades responded in kind with a warm smile lost in the memories, his eyes half closed. She made a move and replied, it started slow, it always started slow. They moved like perfectly choreographed dancers. Plucking needles from beneath the Sea was countered by Single Whip, countered by Cloud Hand, countered by Stalk Spreading Wings. Then the style changed, who changed it? Hades was not sure. Now it was Carving Mountains Splitting Rocks countered by Profusion of Shadows countered by Smile Hiding a Knife countered by.... and the dance went on. They moved across the room, seemingly in lock step. Then Hades stepped onto the Forrest of Plum Flower Piles and Struck the first pose of the Swallow Fist a smile on his face. This used to be their equivalent of playing, he was lost in the warm comforting memories, seemingly so far away from the dark ones that loomed on the distant horizon.
Note: Info on Plum Flower Piles Here, Here and Here. The piles will be the full variety, (knife head, Lilly pad, round top, flat top etc)

A few hours ago... There was the bustle of equipment being packed, of weapons being loaded, of gear being checked. "So its been confirmed then?" asked a voice, it was young-ish, late twenties, focused. "Confirmed, 25 million per head, but only if the head is intact." The second voice was older, more grizzled. "Christ, they must be really mad after what happened to their base." The older mand just nodded. He raised his voice over the din. "Alright, listen up, the mission is a go. The targets are Victor Mikhkail Glont of Glont International and Ambrose Jagger of Jagger Worldwide. The bounty on EACH of them is 25 Million dollars for their intact heads." Murmers ran through the crowd. They were tough men, ex-military, Russian special forces and tough as nails. Many were amazed at the price for two soft targets. The old man raised his voice once again and the murmers ceased. This made him smile, He had a good team.
"Jack, at T minus 5 kill power to the block and hack the lights, cause a traffic jam either side of the target location, you are on coms tonight." Jack nodded and cracked his knuckles, it was time to flex those fingers.
"Mark, you and your team of 30 will board the plane, jump in two sections, one 10 man team first, the breach team, then the support team. You will HALO in, you have good winds forecast tonight. Before you hit the roof drop an EMP. Breach team will then rappel down the sides. Intel suggests the 10th floor from the roof, make it happen." Mark nodded, this was his chance to advance in the ranks, he would not, could not afford to mess up.
"Al, you lead the ground team, 20 men, in swat uniform, place a coordon aroun the perimeter, don't let local police take control, no one goes in, no one comes out. Sweep up from there. Any questions? No? Alright. Go! Go! Go!"
Back in the headquarters of Jaager Worldwide.... >"How about this?....
"Rikers island? As in the prison island famous for mistreating prisoners?" Hades interest was piqued. He was interested in seeing what sort of "demonstration" Jagger was referring to. "I am guessing this is not a black tie event." He said with a slight smile.
Just then the lights gave a flicker and died. Something felt wrong, Hades immediately tensed up. From Jaggers body language this was not a planned event. His senses went on alert. A faint sound caught his attention. There were faint shadows moving outside the windows. They were numerous floors up. They were attaching objects to the windows. It did not take a genius to make the connections. "Ambrose, get down!" Hades yelled as he blurred from sitting to leaping up from his chair and physically launching himself towards Ambrose, intent on tackling him to the floor. Even as he closed on Ambrose, the world exploded in smoke and fire and flames, and the air filled with shards of flying glass.
