The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Hades was sitting in a coffe shop finishing his drink. He was actually there to pass a package onto a courier, a rather lethal package. On the seat next to him was a sealed box, within the box was a phial, a spray and a micro syringe. The liquid was a genetically modified plague lying dormant in a suspension fluid. It had a dormancy period of two days, after which it entered the infection phase. It was highly contagious and would transmit through skin flakes, sweat etc. Sneeze on a surface and if it was even mildly damp, touch it after four hours and you could get infected. During the infection phase it would do just that, make you sneeze. After 7 days it would go terminal and mortality followed soon afterwards. Hades had no intention of using it, well not yet at least. As Commander & Operative, it was his job to provide chaos when required. Creating chaos is easy, any operative could tell you that. It was creating controlled chaos that was the challenge. Chaos that would further your goals and not hinder them, that was an art form. From where Hades sat in the corner of the coffee shop by the window on the second floor he could see at least three ways to create different types of chaos.
Sitting across the room was an employee of the Federal Reserve, as the security badge on his belt announced. Judging by the amount of water he was drinking, he would soon visit the facilities. A simple bum on the way in or out and in 9 days people at the federal reserve would start to experience the effects. Right when they were gathering to discuss the option of raising or lowering the rates. The stock market would crash, chaos. To Hades left was an efficient looking business woman. A quick search showed that she was the lead researcher for a senator. That particular senator was flying to Washington and was giving a speech. It would be so easy to brush past the aid on his way out, and in a few days a deadly plague would hit the government, causing mass panic and of course chaos. The third option was more mundane, simply drop the phial on the floor in the coffee shop. It was half filled with people who probably when clubbing in the evening and the other half were jet setting business people. Infection rates on airplanes and in crowded nightclubs would soar and the chaos would not be limited to the USA, again chaos.
Hades shook himself from his musing. It was time. He paid for his drink and on his way out bumped into another figure in a business suite. Neither looked back, although Hades watched through a reflection in some nearby glass as the figure vanished from sight. Five minutes later he received confirmation that the package was not stored in a hidden location known to him and few others. It was one of many contingency plans that Hades put into place.
He was on the way to his car when he first heard screams then his attention was drawn to a blur in the sky that rapidly air-braked and dropped. During the instant where the object no mutant slowed down, something about the way the Mutant moved stirred something in Hades memory. Hades had a semi-photographic memory, a requirement of the job, and he rarely if ever forgot a face or person. An associated memory stirred. Kabal, Skilled fighter, Morphing, Kaz.
Hades had lost touch with many of the Kabal operatives during his five year absence and looked forward to a potential re connection with a former Kabal Member.
Turning from his car on the second story of a five story car park, Hades promptly walked up a nearby structural column to reach the roof. With his mutation, space, whether filled or empty could become his ladder, slide, walkway. When incorporeal/phased he could move in any direction regardless of what occupied it, of course he moved faster when he was moving inside something solid. From his rooftop vantage point Hades observed that Kaz was surrounded by a crowd, and was he helping someone? The crowd was looking increasingly agitated. If Kaz was on his own no crowd could hold him back, Hades had seen what Kaz was capable of, if not in person then from the recording and after action reports. But if he was extracting someone that was a different matter. Hades set off at a run, utilizing nearby rooftops to quickly arrive above the scene.
It had turned ugly, the crowd around Kaz thickening fast. Rocks were being thrown with increasing frequency. Then a person with a gun got on a high place and began inciting the crowd, ranting about the dangers of mutants, raving at how they were a danger to society to all people treasured and loved, firing his pistol in the air to punctuate each point. With this size of crowd, the emotional state they were in, there was a 50/50 chance that taking out the leader/ inciter would make the crowd disperse, or it would incite them to violence. If the inciter was not removed, they would definitely turn to violence, the choice was simple.
To any watching from the wall behind the inciter emerged a ghost rider-esque figure, as soon as the figure exited the wall flesh returned to the bones and the figure was shown to be a man in a well tailored suite. Nothing that stood out mind you, but if one had an eye for both detail and quality, they would note that it was an exceptionally well tailored suite. The figure paused for a second then walked past the inciter, twisting his neck and disarming him in one smooth motion. Hades was already lost in the crowd before the body hit the floor. During the stunned silence Hades made his way to Kaz. Noting that he now had a H&K .45 to add to his arsenal. The only question now was how would the crowd respond.

Being an operative as long as Hades has meant having a good information gathering network. Now that he was part of Ranarok and had access to additional resources in was unparalleled. Further more, what with the attack in Texas, even more resources had been poured into gathering information on possible mutant attacks in general, and Jagger Worldwide, aka Ragnarok, was no exception. As a result there were reams and reams of data literally pouring in. Hades had been recruited to Rangarok to "lead the army" but as of yet there was not much army to speak of he had poured his efforts and time into the intelligence side of things. What better way to keep informed so as to best deploy the forces currently at his disposal.
In a recent mission with Panu, Hades had acquired the account numbers and pass codes of three large international corporations (Atlas Investments, Stergon Incorporated and Piper Worldwide). These companies had a few things in common. Firstly they were all rivals in various ways to Jagger worldwide, secondly they had a strong partnership with Fuast pharmaceuticals, also a competitor with Jagger Worldwide. Thirdly they were all big corporations, they had branches in over ten countries and had large bottom lines to throw around, Fourthly they were human-centric, in other words they hated mutants, perhaps not openly, but no mutants were in their employ and very few if any mutant sympathizers. Finally, they liked playing the long game. They would bribe senators to get legislation that would subtly favor humans and reduce Mutant rights, then stir up trouble and blame it on mutants. They were very good at it. They were also not above hiring hit squads to do their dirty work. Become a big enough obstacle in their way and would more than happily pay to make you disappear.
The three were up to something, Hades knew it, he could feel it. When he and Panu had conducted missions on the local branches of the three, ostensibly to plant false evidence and incite infighting, there were key members of staff missing. In warehouses, judging by the dust on the floor and smell in the air, large quantities of goods had recently been moved, lethal goods.
Hades was given charge of a sizable research team, but he needed eyes on the ground. Experienced operatives, soldiers he had plenty of, Jagger worldwide had a very well trained security force, but they were like a hammer, Hades needed a scalpel, scalpels.
Using his secure phone he pinged all available contacts. Most of them came back as too far away to be of use. If his hunch was correct, whatever they were planning would happen withing a day, at most two. He needed help and he needed it now. one phone pinged back as in the area. Noel, of all the people...
Noel. What exactly had happened last time? Why did she leave? Was she mad at him? Regardless everyone who had their phones received a call to meet down town. Perhaps she would ignore the call, perhaps she would come. Hades honestly did not know how he would react if she walked through those doors.
While he waited Hades pulled out a small laptop and continued trying to make head or tails of the vast amount of information that was pouring in.

They were going to hold a memorial in Texas, at the site of the shelter, of course they were. There were going to hold a large gathering where a veritable who's who of dignitaries would be in attendance, not to mention leaders and respected veteran members of mutant communities from around the world and across the states. They could have hardly done more to paint a big bulls eye over the event. Yes security would be tight, Hades could almost roll his eyes. He had lost count over the years of the number of times that had been pronounced over and event only for it to go south. Hades was going to be there as he had a duty to perform. A promise to honor, and Hades took promises very seriously. His friend the immortal, well... ex-immortal, Racquel was a senior member at the shelter and was on duty when the blast occurred. Hades was there to attend the funeral of one of his longer lasting acquaintances, after all knowing someone for four hundred plus years counted as one of the longest.
Ever since the first attack, more resources had been diverted to monitoring chatter about anti-mutant attacks in general, and Ragnarok was no exception. Not only was there a possibility of his employer being there in person, but there were also requests for protection to some of the attendees, very profitable requests. More than he could guarantee on his own. So Hades called in help. He put out feelers through various networks, looking for skilled operatives, mutants or humans with previous combat experience. In mutants he wanted ones that would not freak out if their powers suddenly were nullified. There were too many well funded attacks that attached one or two adapted into the unit. It was apparently very profitable to be an adapted in this day and age. He had sent a brief message to Aura, among others, to that effect.
A block away, a farmland owner was paid handsomely to host a gun and weapons show on the very same day of the memorial. Among the exhibits were artillery pieces from different periods in history.
Summery: Security will be heavy for the memorial, as it is a tempting target. VIPs are hiring extra security for protection. It will pay extremely well (name a price).
Hades watched from afair. He was not really in the mood to be social. Being social meant concealing his... well his presence, which tended to scare the general population. When one has been a hunter for so long.... well.
From his perch on the top floor of a nearby building he had unobstructed line of sight over times square, a perfect sniper spot. Hades had scouted all the potential sniper spots before the even started. His employer was in attendance after all. Although he was not technically on protection detail for Ambrose, he was in the area and preferred to be through. After this was over he was flying out to Texas, he had a duty to perform. After all, a promise from one immortal to another was not something to be taken lightly.
The man's name was Racquel (pronounced rak-uwl with a rolling R to start) and he had been one of the senior staff at the mutant shelter and on duty when the bomb blast hit. He had been going through a philanthropic phase of late, all immortals went through phases in their long life span. Hades had met him round about 1527 in Rome during an interesting time in history. Yes Hades domain was mainly in Asia but with so much time on ones hands, one does travel now and then. Racquel was an immortal mutant with super speed. His domain was mainly Europe and once they became acquainted with each other they got along rather well. exchanging martial arts techniques as well as news. They were both members of the Immortal club.
Now the Immortal club is nothing formal, and in spite of its name does not count all immortals as members. It is instead a loose network of immortal mutants who stay in touch now and then. To be considered you have to be at least 500 years of age. 1000 grants you membership with 2000 years giving you senior membership. Hades was, by his count and the count of others (1000 years of memory loss not withstanding) around 3000 years old which made him a veteran member. There was the usual courtesy of knowing which places were who's "stomping ground" and it was considered polite to let that person know before making a mess in their territory etc. There was also the final farewell. When one immortal finally died, it was customary for him or her to request that another member of the club remember the deceased in some way. For Racquel it was for Hades to wield his signature saber one last time in the form that he taught Hades the first time they met. Hence the upcoming trip to Texas.
All this flashed through Hades mind as he listened to the proceedings. Memories, four hundred plus years of memories flashed before him. For immortals, the length of their lives was both a blessing and a curse, the blessing was obvious, the curse was to watch all whom you may have grown attached to age and die, over and over again. Except for another Immortal. For an Immortal to die is a big loss. Hades shook himself, his mind changing gears. He had duties to perform and if he read the winds of change right, there would be escalating violence between Mutants and Humans. They had started asymmetric warfare, it was time Mutants, at least ones he know or had authority over prepared for it. He had people to train, an army to wield and assets to activate.
The wind blew the curtains by the window. When they stilled, Hades was nowhere to be found.

Hades nodded at the departing Jude, he would speak with him later. Turning to Alex, Hades told the young mutant. "I want to step up the schedule. I will test you in two weeks, train hard. Once you have passed the test You can choose to learn other skills if you are interested."
At that moment a innocuous strap on his writ vibrated in a particular pattern. Outwardly Hades showed no sign he had noticed, but inside his mind had already started shifting, that pattern meant an important task or an urgent call.
Turned back to Alex, he said. "I have some things I need to take care of, so watch your back. When he gets back, tell Jude I will start sparring with him when I return. Until then you know how to reach me if the need arises."
And with that Hades departed.

Hades noted the way Peter blocked his attacks. He was a boxer, an experienced one, technique, southpaw. Before he concisely realized it he was automatically circling left, keeping his neck loose. Peter tried the same punch that had caught him off guard the first time. Fool me once thought Hades as he ducked and swayed right, using his left side to push the punch off while firing off rapid body punches with his right, all aimed at Peters left side, the side without armor. He only managed three before Peter started his barrage.
Peter had the advantage of height and reach, and he used it. Hades blocked once, twice but a third slipped under his guard. Hades swayed his head backward and managed to rob the punch of most of its force but it still hit like a freight train. As he took the punch, Hades noted that Peter was winding back for another punch. Hades waited until Peter was committed, then he dropped. Hades fell on his back as Peter's punch thundered through the space he had previously occupied. Hades landed on his back, drew his knees up to his chest and in a single explosive move launched two footed strike straight at Peter's abdomen and solar plexus.
Having cleared some space for himself, Hades jumped back on his feet, but something was up. His footing seemed less sure, he seemed to stumble, avoiding Peters punches more by luck and chance than skill. It was a ruse, He waited until Peter had just launched a Hay-maker, swayed out of the way and ended up suddenly in a rock solid horse stance, he whipped his torso sideways from the waist up and launched a dual handed punch, again at Peter;s unarmored side. Peter was not the only one who could catch people off guard.

Ahh the self loathing. Truly there was nothing much under the sun. Inwardly Hades sighed. Jude seemed to agree, judging by his eye roll.
"Jude, a minute."
He turned to Alex. "Alex, I am not the correct person to talk to you about your self worth, I will say this once only so listen carefully. There are people in this world who will hate what is different and express it in different ways, the ridicule of blonds in one country, making gingers the but of jokes in another. No matter where you go some will hate you for being a mutant plain and simple. Some will be content to hate at a distance or simply give you the cold shoulder, others may express it more... actively to you and those around you. Their hatred is independent of what you think of yourself, period. That you have no control over, what you can control is your response. That is for you to decide." This was no pep talk so Hades moved on, swiftly.
"And distraction? Alex, think clearly for a minute, you can create distractions and decoys out of biomass, with your mutation they are the proverbial dime a dozen, I did not spend this much time training you for you to just throw it all away. Alex, you may not know my whole story, there are none alive who do, but you know enough to realize that I have some experience in picking people. Alex, I picked you because you have potential. But if you are set on being a martyr then I will take my knife back."
Hades was a master at masking emotion, it was one of the things he was trained to do. Outwardly he did not show it was he was beginning to loose patience with Alex and his self pitying attitude. Hades had the patience of a hunter, but if the child was dead set on getting himself killed, there Hades had no time for him. If Alex handed the knife back, he would not see Hades again. He turned to Jude, the one who seemed to have his screwed on a little better than Alex.
"Jude I will make you the same offer" said Hades. Jude had probably figured that there was more to Mr Wong than met the eye, if he could not see that, then his loss. "From what I hear, attacks like this one may get more frequent and violent. I can share with you my knowledge and experience, I can equip you to better defend and if need, attack to ensure the safety of others."
He paused.
"If you are interested that is."
Hades tended to think strategically. With the increase in violence against mutants in the city and the META program causing the chaos that it was, hatred towards mutants would reach a tipping point, it was only a matter of time. This time it would be attacks in the open from the government, it would be gorilla warfare, attacks by groups of vigilantes. Hence the more people he could train and equip to deal with the situation the better. In Jude he could see the makings of an excellent infiltrator as well as all rounder, especially with his mutation. Alex had the potential to make an excellent scout as well as ranged attacker, that is if he got his act together.

Panu seemed to calm down. Hades paused as he digested what panu had said. He cocked his head to one side, just slightly, digesting the information, modifying plans on the fly, creating a working solution. He turned to Panu.
"Good, it is better to have someone who knows their limits and can be honest about them."
He rattled off an IP address starting with the words "dn". It indicated that the source was located on the Dark Web, a part of the internet that was ... non-indexed, meaning that it could not be searched. One either knew exactly where one was going or one would never get there.
"First folder." It was the name of a folder that detailed some of the research that Hades had done, as well as the basic structure of the plan that Hades intended to implement.
Hades intended to lay the blame on Faust Pharmaceuticals, thus removing Jagger Worldwide's main competitor, but that was not all, Hades also intended to expose and blame three other companies. Atlas Investments, Stergon Incorporated and Piper Conglomeration all had funded Faust to varying degrees, but more worrying was that they also engaged in shadow activities, especially against mutants. Hades research had uncovered a lot of evidence to suggest that these three had helped incite mutant incidents, funded (underhandedly) anti-mutant legislation and had Mutant kill squads that included adapted. A number of them even had rather lucrative adapted recruiting head hunters.Hades intended to tie these four, The Four to a colorful variety of criminal activities.
"After you finish, read the second folder."
The second folder contained a very basic sketch of the facility that Hades had been able to get from a janitor. The facility was shaped a little like a spiral, with reception, meeting rooms, and other services one usually finds on the outer arm. As one spiraled closer to the center, more important targets, laboratories, control rooms, armory, server rooms, and at the very center, the vault. The folder also contained ex-filtration plans that Hades had prepared.
Exfill one parking lot 23, Mercedes, Silver, Wireless key. Flash lights when walk past. Exfill two parking lot 50, Nissian Skyline, blue, same recognition signal. Exfill three Parking lot 74, Black & Red Golf GTI. Exfill four, Loading Docks, container 15, Areal Atom.
Hades waited while Panu digested this information. "If you are still up for it, I need you to hack into their network and tell me what you can get control of. Things like ventilation systems, security cameras, fire alarms, automated doors, Voice over IP (soft phones) would be helpful. Let me know when you are in and I will start. The folder should also have the frequency of my earpiece so you can see and talk to me."
He awaited confirmation from Panu. Almost as an afterthought he said "I can walk through walls and if you see me glowing slightly green, don't touch me, I'm told it is painful." He then stood back and waited for the techno-path.

Hades awoke with a start, the images the memories of last night flooding through his mind. He took a second, calmed himself and rand through them sequentially.
As he rose to his feet he observed the spot where Noel had landed. He could still smell her faint scent, everyone had one. From how faint it was she had obviously left a short while ago. Perhaps she needed..... space. Perhaps she would not return. He had opened part of himself up to her, for a short while he had been.... vulnerable. Hades closed that door. Not many people could get inside Hades mind and stand it. he would give her some space. Regardless, the safe house was hers and she would see it when she next checked her phone. She had earned that much.
As Hades drove away, he idly wondered if he would see her again. He put the thought out of his mind, he had work to do.

The thing with a name like Hades is that so many people use it as their moniker. Code names like Reaper, Hunter, Hades have been used in movies, books, games and are considered as "cool", hence, pick a "cool" name, put on a mask and viola, become almost untraceable. Hades had actually fought here a number of time before, always masked and always under different names. It was a good place to test technique as the fighting style was always down and dirty, if it was not practical it would not work and you would go down. Half of his fights he had registered under the "Human" category and nobody had ever noticed.
His name was called. The masked man smoothly stood up and made his way into the ring. After the customary greetings and showing of respect to the other fighter, the bell rung and they squared up. Hades intentionally took the first punch on the elbow. When dealing with other mutants it was always good to do a test, especially if you were not sure of their mutation or level or mutation. If a punch can crack, fracture or shatter a cocked elbow then there is no point in fighting. The same force would drive a fist straight through your rib cage or cave in your skull. In such a situation then an amicable fight is out of the question. The only way to survive would b e to either run away or kill/incapacitate your opponent.
Thankfully, the punch only pushed Hades back.He stayed in balance, in stance only he was moved back some distance. So he packed quite a punch, potentially a 1 hit to the head = K.O punch. "Peter" also seemed to have armor on various parts of his body. So he could punch, but how was his footwork. Hades promptly launched his own attacks. As there was no limitation on fighting style Hades decided to see what his opponent was like.
He launched a flurry of kicks, moving seamlessly from one fighting style to another. The sweeping kicks of Capoeira to the lunge kicks of Muay Thai, the attacks of Krav Maga, Wing Chun low kicks, Taekwondo spin kicks, Karate high kicks, Jiu Jitsu and Ninjutsu kicks etc. How Peter responded to these would tell Hades a lot.
