The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Oh no. He was sounding nervous. Guys got nervous when asking girls out.
>> “And, well, I'd love it if you came with me to-”
It was coming. Just say yes? Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Her fingers were crossed.
>> “See, I'm making this movie thing.”
Glitch blinked. “Oh.” This wasn't a date invite at all. Phew. She felt kind of silly now.
“An interview, huh? About mutants and METAs?” Her words were spoken quickly, trying to cover up her awkwardness. “I could totally do that. Well, it's not like I've done something like it before, but it sounds fun. So, is this a school project, Viewtube vid, or what?”
>>“Hey Glitch. You got any more classes for today or are you done?”
Glitch turned to see none other than Leo, the token non-mutant in their class. It was strange to see a norm hang around the mutant school so much, but it was always nice to see one who was chill around mutants. As for what she knew about him, it wasn't much. He was kind of odd, but he seemed friendly enough.
“I'm free. What's this about, Leo?”
She nearly dropped her textbook when the potential implications of Leo's question hit. Was he asking her on a date?! That was, like, what it usually was when a guy asked a girl he didn't know well if she was free, right?
No, no, it couldn't be. Guys weren't interested in dating robots. There had to be something else Leo had in mind. At least, she hoped. Nothing personal against Leo; it could have been any other guy. Glitch had literally no clue how she, a fricking robot, was supposed to handle a date!
And... she was just standing there awkwardly silent. Other than the alarmed look in her eyes, she was mercifully stone-faced.
Glitch pounced onto the META, knocking it down. They grappled for several seconds before it pushed her off with its strong mechanical arm. She got back up unharmed but unsure of what to do next. Trying to fight melee against a robot when you were one yourself wasn't too practical.
“Lethal force authorized.” It reached for a gun. A gun with real bullets.
“Oh eff!”
Of course, that word wasn't “eff” this time around.
Freaking out, she jumped back on top of it, bringing it to the ground once more. Anything to prevent it from reaching that weapon. She wasn't sure how she managed it, but she was on top of it and had its arms pinned to the pavement.
A sound of thunder once again echoed through the area. She risked a glance away to see Devon was finishing up with his two robots, and the sand cloud, already done with hers, was flying towards her. “Eh... I guess I could use your help,” she admitted to Rebecca, struggling to keep the squirming bot's arms in place.
Glitch nearly jumped when the second bolt went off. Evidently, the vote was two-to-one in favor of the lightning. Message taken. Leave the big bots to Devon or else play lightning rod. At least there wasn't going to be water.
Outnumbered like they were, running was the best option. Yeah, Glitch was going to run like the others had said and get out of their way. She turned and ran a few steps, and... holy hell, the smaller units were fast! One of them had circled around, cutting off her escape. Her feet were rooted to the ground, unsure of what to do. The META bot raised its gun, and Glitch threw her arms in front of her face. She cringed as it pinged off her forearm.
>> “Halt, mutants!”
Eyes wide, Glitch watched the machine approach, taser in hand. Oh no. It was going to zap her and-
Wait a minute. Would a taser even work on a robot? It wasn't like it would be painful or… oh dammit, she was tired of being useless. She needed to pick something and do it!
“I think I've got this one!” she told the cloud of sand that was Rebecca.
She charged, attempting to tackle the robot to the ground. It was probably stupid. She had no plan beyond that.

“Really? Wow...” That was pretty impressive for Rebecca's first run-in with METAs. Combat training, perhaps? Regardless, “Learn self-defense” was added to Glitch's to-do list, and it was high up there alongside “learn how to repair machines.”
If her own experiences with the METAs didn't make Glitch nervous, the rumors of their tendency to malfunction that circulated at the Mansion certainly did. They were scary in that respect. “It's like a conspiracy.” She just wanted to get out of the park, maybe put a good mile or two or hundred between herself and them. Whether they took refuge at this Sanctuary or elsewhere, Glitch didn't care.
“Halt mutants!” They weren't going to give her that chance, were they?
One, two, three, four robots. Not good. She glanced over to Rebecca and Devon. They were there. They were able to take down one. Maybe they could fight four? Stay close, stay calm. That's what she told herself.
Then came a bright flash and a loud boom.
“Holy eff!”
Thunder! Lightning! Clearly, Devon had more power than just wind. “Ice is okay-ish, but no water!” From the protection of the wind, she eyed the META bots, nervous. “And maybe no more lightning, either,” she added, seeing how the blast singed a couple of the units. Weather and herself? Overall, not a great combination. Crap. She hoped her presence wasn't limiting him too much. Her fists were at the ready as she assumed a fighting stance, preparing for the worst.

Miss X
She shook the woman's hand, her grip loose to avoid crushing it. Rebecca and Devon. She was going to do her best to remember those names. “I'm Glitch, and I think I'm all right, thanks.”
Her gaze slid over to the broken machine. Devon was right. “Yeah... that sounds like a good idea,” she replied, ready to get as far away from the META as possible. For all she knew, that thing could have sent a distress signal.
Looking around, Glitch couldn't see anything, but with the trees and hills as cover, there were plenty of places those awful robots could pop out of. That mere thought was enough to make Glitch more than a little uneasy. This was the first time she saw a META pull a flippin' gun, and it shot her. If she had still been a squishy, fleshy person instead of a robot... No, she didn't want to think about it.
Yet, having a couple of mutants around, ones that were able to take down the robot so quickly, took the edge off the fear. “Sounds like you guys fight these things all the time,” she commented. “Saw a buggy one months ago, but this was way worse.” Near them she was going to stay.
The sand lady destroying the machine from the inside, the man using his wind to dodge the round... those sights were amazing to watch. Being able to do those things required practice, no doubt. Glitch found herself envying the skill they had with their mutations.
The META bot was still resisting the sand lady's attack, but it wasn't going to last. Sparks crackled on its surface, and its attempts to free itself were getting weaker.
Thinking things were now safe, Glitch relaxed her arms and approached the two mutants. “So, um... I...” While she was trying to say something, the words weren't coming, and she found herself looking down at her feet. She'd thought that if she got into trouble like that, she was tough enough to punch and kick her way out of it. After all, she was a mutant. But no. When the gun was pointed at her, she was frozen, and these people had to bail her out. Many would have done the same in that situation, but it didn't make it any less embarrassing.
Things weren't truly over, of course. Unbeknownst to Glitch, three more units were gathering a short distance away, preparing to launch a counterattack.
In retrospect, a beanbag gun shouldn't have been too threatening to a metallic being like her, but when faced with the barrel of one, it was easy for Glitch to forget that. She squeezed her eyes shut, preparing to take a round to the face.
That never came. Instead, she heard a howling wind, followed by a loud clatter. She opened her eyes to see the bot lying flat on its back. She turned to see a man and... a figure that looked like a sand person? Of course. Mutants. Mutants to the rescue.
There was no time to question what was going on. Taking the man's advice, she scrambled towards the sand person, putting a good distance between the robot and herself. The META bot recovered quickly, righting itself and scanning the newcomers. Glitch's quivering fists were at the ready. “Careful. It's crazy!” And armed with a so-called non-lethal weapon. She herself likely had a nasty dent from that.
“Active mutation detected. Active mutation detected. Takedown authorized.” It again aimed its gun, this time at the man.
“Again, stop right there,” the META's synthetic voice repeated.
The park was large. Lots of trees, lots of snow, and lots of paths. And of all places Glitch could have been, she had to be in the one with this pathetic excuse for an officer. METAs probably weren't even supposed to be there on their own. Reluctantly, Glitch put her hands up. Just play it cool. Find out what's making it tick.
“Warning: The impersonation of a META unit is prohibited.”
In an instant, Glitch sported the biggest “WTF?” expression that her robot face could manage - a raised eyelid and a tilt of the head. Somewhere out there, a law against that actually existed. She would have laughed, but META bots did not joke. “Trust me, I'm not trying to look like you. I'm a mutant, so-”
“Remove your mask. Failure to comply will result in your arrest.”
“It's not a mask!” Glitch protested. No response. It just stood there like an idiot, watching her. Sometimes, she just wanted to rip the heads off those things. She took a few steps back, cursing under her breath. Could she... just walk away from it? Nice robot. Just stay. Stay right there and-
“Active mutation detected.” Crap. It was standing there because it was scanning her. Glitch's circuits raced as it pointed its wide-barreled gun at her. “Takedown authorized.”
Double crap. “W-wait. I can't turn it off. It-” There was a loud clash as a beanbag hit her. She lost her footing, falling backwards onto the sidewalk. Her hands slipped on the icy pavement as she tried to get back up. Her eyes went wide when she saw the machine coming closer, beanbag gun at the ready.
Not exactly a straight answer, but Panu seemed to be responding. Responding with an apology. Geez, she now felt kind of bad.
I'm not angry, she assured him. Mind reading is freaky. She would have explained further, but the inefficiency of translating every word to dots and dashes would make that response minutes long. Waiting for the movie to end would be easier.
Action Man was currently standing on the podium next to the presidential candidate, passionately praising and defending his desire to protect the country from “mutant menaces.” She rolled her eyes and snickered. Whelp. At least the real-life counterpart would never be elected. You're foreign, right? Seeing Action Man's eyes tear up, Glitch shook her head. This is a big embarrassment.
A little awkward, too. She hadn't seen any other visible mutants in the theater. They may have very well been the only ones there.
“No!” she shouted, though she was drowned out by the ridiculously big car explosion onscreen. Good thing too, because she forgot about the audience again. She slumped back into her chair, relieved that it had failed. As long as he couldn't find a way in, she could cross being mind-hacked off her list of worries.
Tentatively.
Okay, a kid like Panu being unable to break in didn't tell her much about what an older, more experienced, more powerful, and much more malicious person was capable of. As a mutant, Glitch hated to be paranoid of people like her, but the existence of individuals that could mess with her mind gave her the chills. At least this boy couldn't.
He already knew Morse code? It figured, a technopath could probably search the internet. He had lots and lots of ideas, some of which weren't even physically possible. Glitch picked one of the simpler options. She tapped her finger against the armrest, sending out a message.
Panu's excited voice was startlingly loud, more so than when he first spoke to her using that method. She needed to put a bell on him and his voice in her head. Somehow.
If Panu was asking if she could talk back, he must not have heard her thought. Maybe she didn't “think” the message right. How did telepaths do it? Concentrating? Placing fingers against temples? The ones from comic books did that a lot, right? She did both, thinking, Testing, testing, one-two, one-two. As much of an attempt as it was, the hope of him being unable to hear that was still very present.
She passed him yet another note. Tried sending a message. If you can't hear that, I'm not sure what else to try. The next sentence was scribbled down as an afterthought. Maybe I can teach you Morse code or something. Something that didn't involve peeking into her head.
Okay, Panu was evidently at some “Evil is Cool” phase. But who could blame him? Villains sometimes got the funny lines and awesome moments. Kind of like the one in this movie. Seriously, who didn't want to drag that certain presidential candidate through the mud like Mutant-Mutant?
The audience wasn't receiving the phone well, either. At this rate, they'd be kicked out and everyone would hate them. She would be banned from that theater forever. And there wasn't much a bright yellow robot girl could do to sneak back in.
She handed him another note. Permission to speak into my head granted. That form of communication was still questionable, but it wouldn't attract the usher's attention.
Already, he could control her movements and what she heard. Could he read her thoughts? Alter her personality? Rewrite her memories? The possibilities were disturbing. This she had to find out for herself. Can you hear me? she thought.
Glitch intended to have a long talk with him after this. A very long talk.
Glitch shook her head. “No, I can't. I know what my arms and legs and such are doing, and that's it.” If whatever Cafas had in mind relied on that, it would be no use. It stunk, but reality was reality. “Don't worry about it. I've been experimenting with gloves. Wrist warmers came kind of close.” If only they weren't so hard to slide on without snagging them inside of her knuckle joints.
She fumbled trying to screw on the last panel. Unlike the rest, it wasn't going into place. The puncture marks were fixed, but the force of the wolf man's jaws left the panel warped. “Err... Could you take another look at this? The bite really messed that one up. If it helps, I could take off the one on the other arm. It's the same, except, you know, reversed.”
