The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Inwardly Luke smiled... so they had finally come down to the questions. Not that he was greatly surprised, he had been expecting Tris to ask questions for quite some time now. It was obvious that she knew he was more than just your average blind man but he figured that maybe he would just throw her a small bone and see just how tenacious she could really be.
"My name is Luke Jacobs, just as I said earlier. I'm a partner in 'Jacobs & Jacobs Security'. My... great-grandfather I believe it was opened up the business in 1881. Originally it was company that hired out security for the wealthy and elite but as times changed my grandfather saw an opportunity to specialize in security systems. Now we're either the fifth or sixth largest security company in New York. I forget which. We still offer security personel to the rich and famous but for the most part we focus on alarm systems."
Luke knew that he really wasn't giving anything away as any of the information he had just passed on could be learned with a brief search on the internet.
"My mother left us and my father died when I was young so I grew up mainly in schools over in Europe since my Uncle really wanted nothing to do with me. After getting an education I came back here and became a small partner with the company as well as the Chief Financial Officer. Circumstances made it necessary for me to leave that position but I still dabble with the company when I have a chance."
Giving his most disarming smile towards the two ladies he quirked one eyebrow so that it just appeared over the top of his sunglasses, "Does that cover it or are there more sordid details that you're interested in?"

"BLT on white please........and for this lovely lady here- anything she wants." Tris spoke up before turning to look at Victoria.
"BLT... all-american choice. Pretty normal and average which is a good front to hide behind if you want to blend in." Luke thought to himself as he listened to Victoria placer her orders.
"Green tea please... do you have green tea? No milk or sugar and not too strong. And....I will have.... the Hummm....Humus for an entree. And....." Victoria paused again, apparently still undecided. "The Chicken Salad. Thank you."
"Humus and chicken salad?" Luke thought to himself, surprised by the two drastically different choices, "Obviously chicken salad is the safety net but Humus? Different choice that's for sure."
Taking his walking stick in hand Luke carefully pulled the pieces apart so that the normally long handicap stick was now in four separate pieces that could easily lay on the seat next to him. "I guess I look a little odd sitting here with sunglasses on but normally people don't like the look of my eyes." He joked doing his best to keep the mood light, "Maybe people will think I'm a drug dealer or something."

Luke chuckled softly to himself as he mentally withdrew from the covnersation, allowing the two women to chat about their food choices. Unable to read the menu the blind man was using his sense of smell to identify what he thought would be good.
"Onions, peppers, meat, fries, onion rings." He thought to himself identifying one thing after another. "And it sounds like the table behind us is doing salads of some type."
"Sorry about the wait folks." A young man said as he walked up, obviously their waiter, "You three know what you want or do you need a few minutes?"
"I think I'll go with a Sweet Tea to drink, Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich and instead of fries or onion rings I'd like a side salad with ranch dressing. I assume all that is on the menu." Luke spoke up first, a sly grin on his face he turned to face the general direction of the server.
"Of course sir." The man replied, starting slightly when he looked up and saw the blind man. Collecting himself quickly he turned to face the other two, "And for you two ladies?"
Leaning back into the cushions of his seat Luke listened to the two ladies order. Some people said that you could tell a lot about a person by the kind of food they ate and he was more than willing to put that to the test. For him, it was about an all american lunch. He had known from the beginning it would either be a burger or Philly Cheese Steak and with the scent of onions and peppers in the air there had been no real question between the two. Pairing it with a salad might have seemed odd but Luke wasn't big on to much grease and salads were healthy... until you drowned them under dressing.

Tris had remained silent for several moments, apparently allowing the conversation about Luke's abilities to die off. That was just fine with the blind man an he simply sat back, enjoying the sounds and smells of the restaurant. "If the food's as good as it smell's I'll have to make sure to come back here." He thought to himself, mentally making note of the restaurant's location, "And here comes Victoria." There weren't many people around with the same type of figure and stature as the young woman so it wasn't to hard for Luke to notice her with his senses as soon as she made her way back into main dining area.
"Thank you Luke." The young woman murmured as she took her seat, briefly touching his hand. Smiling slightly and noding to Victoria, he did his best not to show any other reaction. It was quite plain that the girl was very innocent and there was no way he would allow himself damage the trust that was slowing building.
"It's much too expensive!" Victoria's voice suddenly rang out after she had looked at the menu for several moments. The shock in her voice was evident and Luke was sure that if he had been focusing on her face, the expression would have been rather comical.
"It'll be fine Victoria." Luke spoke up, trying to keep his voice kind and soothing, "I'm sure Tris know about the prices before she brought us here and if necessary I'll be glad to split the check with her. Don't worry about it. Just enjoy yourself for a little while."
The mental checklist of information about the two women was growing. First off they had not been friends before today. Victoria was very innocent and shy and also apparently sheltered. Luke was sure that the little place was all THAT expensive but for the young woman it had been shocking. "If money is that tight I wonder if she is staying somewhere safe?" The blind man thought to himself, "I'll have to ask about that later."

The afternoon after his exciting night out Luke Jacobs made his way to the hospital where Wraith had dropped off Fausto. Luke would have gone earlier but he had been forced to admit almost total exhaustion after the combat and rescue so after several hours of much needed rest he was finally coming to visit the young man.
"Good afternoon ma'am." The blind man spoke politely as he made his way up to the reception desk, "I was wondering if you could tell me what room Fausto is in... a young man that came in last night with a stab wound as I understand it. I'm a friend of his and was just woundering how he's doing."
"Just one moment." The young girl replied as she began to type on her computer, "I'm sure he'll be glad to have visitors."
Standing quiet for several moments Luke allowed his senses the envelop the room he was standing in... here and there people sat as they waited for appointments with doctors or waited to be admitted but overall it was a quiet time of day.
"Sir?" The young woman's voice suddenly broke through, "I'm afraid that he's gone... left without even checking out. We have no idea where the young man went. What did you say his name was again?"
For a moment Luke stood dumbfounded but then he spoke up, "Fausto... I'm afraid I can't remember his last name. You're sure he's gone?"
"Yes sir. I just spoke with the duty nurse. He slipped out of his room and ran to the elevator. By the time security got to the door he was already in a cab driving away."
"Thank you ma'am... I guess I just wasn't supposed to see him again."
Without another word Luke walked out into the bright sunshine of the New York day. Fausto had gotten his revenge and perhapse it was for the best. A boy as troubled as that would probably never be able to take advice from someone like Luke. "Take care Fausto." The blind man murmured before turning and merging with the swarms of people that covered the New York sidewalks.

The boy wasn't waking up... HE WASN'T WAKING UP! Obviously Wraith's choices were narrowing down smaller and smaller and it was time to take action.
"Ok... wounds are covered to slow blood loss." He murmured to himself as he mind raced over what had to be done, "I'm not a doctor so I need to get him to a hospital or ambulance. Sorry if this hurts Fausto."
Kneeling down Wraith slipped his arms under the young man and lifted up, standing back to his feet. The man knew that he was strong but without some sort of enhanced or super strength he was going to tire very quickly trying to get Fausto to medical help. Walking outside he looked around, feeling desperation rising up in his heart. "Transportation... come on... one of these idiots had to have a vehicle!" Breaking into a jog Wraith moved around the building, already beginning to feel the strain in his arms from carrying the extra weight.
"Note to self... work out more." He thought wryly, "This might happen more often in the future."
"There he... he... goes!" A man's voice yelled out between coughs. Apparently that one had breathed in concrete dust and smoke from the explosions a few minutes earlier. "Get him!"
A few scattered shots rang out but the shadowy figured continued moving swiftly through the darkness, disappearing and then reappearing in the moonlight.
"These guys need target practice but not with me and the boy." Wraith thought before his gaze finally fell on a little Mazda Miata that was parked away from the destruction of the building. "A Miata?!" He thought in amazement as he sped up his pace towards the vehicle, "Any port in a storm though." Wraith muttered as he approached the vehicle. Lashing out with one powerful leg he broke the driver window and then, while holding Fauston in his left arm, reached in, unlocked, and opened the door with his right.
"He's taking my car!" A voice rang out in panic as more gunshots broke the silence of the night, "No! Don't hurt the car!"
Setting Fausto down in the passenger seat Wraith swiftly slid behind the wheel reaching under the dash to feel the wires. Hot wiring a car was extremely difficult without your vision to see the color of the wires but after a few incorrect touches he had the engine purring. Thanks to his sonar sense it was possible for Wraith to drive although he had never done much of it.
"Sorry if it gets a little bumpy." Wraith muttered to his unconscious as he put the vehicle and drive and mashed down on the accelerator. With a squeel of complaint the little vehicle sprang forward, racing towards the fence and closed gate. "Grenade... didn't he have another grenade? The driver continued to talk to himself as he reached over with one hand and begin to fish through Fausto's pockets. Finding one of the pineapple shapped bombs he slammed on the brakes, bringing the vehicle to a stop before tossing the now armed explosive towards the gates. Once again an explosion tore through the night air opening a pathway that had been previously closed.
***
The drive to the hospital was as quick as Wraith could safely pull off... thankfully traffic was a little lighter this late at night so only about ten minutes after leaving the docks he was pulling up to the emergency room entrance. Lifting Fausto into his arms Wraith ran inside, laying the boy uncerimoniously on the desk in front of a startled night shift nurse. "The boy has a stab wound in the chest... the Bloody Eye gang got to him before I could help. Take care of him." Without another word Wraith turned and rushed out of the hospital. He knew if he stuck around the police would ask pesky questions and so it was best to just get out of there as quickly as he could. Once again the night swallowed up the mysterious hero leaving no evidence that he had even existed.

Wraith slipped through the shadows, stretched out his sonar sense to encompase the entirely of the warehouse as he did his best to locate Fausto again. He knew that his fight right outside had delayed him several minutes but hopefully the young man hadn't gotten to far ahead.
Listening carefully he could hear groans coming from the injured or dieing that were trapped by rubble and debris from the grenades but he couldn't hear Fausto speaking or moving.
"Where are you?!" Wraith thought to himself as he slipped around another corner. Pausing suddenly Wraith focused on the two still forms that were on the floor... one was quite obviously Fausto and the other was obviously his last victim. The neck was chewed away and the head rolled freely several feet away.
"Fausto?" Wraith's voice was cold and quiet but still sounded somewhat concerned. Moving forward he knelt by the boy, his hand reaching out to touch the liquid that was beginning to coagulate on the boys chest. "Blood... you fool!" The man muttered angrily before reaching into the knapsack he still had on his back. Slipping out the undershirt he normall wore Wraith tore it into several strips that would serve as bandages. Thankfully the knife hadn't been long enough to go all the way through the boy but the damage was still severe. Wadding up several large pieces of the shirt Wraith pressed them firmly against the wound before tying into place with one longer piece of torn shirt.
"Wake up boy!" Wraith spoke a little louder, trying to snap the young man out of his unconsciousness. He knew that taking the young man to the hospital was a risky choice but if he couldn't get Fausto awake there would be no other option.

"Well he's in." Wraith thought to himself as he swiftly moved after the younger man, "So far I'm impressed... he may actually survive this whole thing."
Many people know about tunnel vision and how you can become so focused on one task that you mis what's going on around you... though Wraith senses allowed him to "see" 360 degrees around him when he became focused on certain tasks he could get the same tunnel vision that those would sight would get. As he approached the entrance through the warehouse wall that Fausto had blown open, Wraith suddenly realized there was someone behind him. Even as he began to turn he knew that he would be to late and he was right. Les than a quarter of the way through his turn a powerful blow landed on the back of his head sending him crashing to the ground. Stars and specks of light filled his mind as he lay on the ground, completely still. Thanks to the kevlar lining in his hood the blow had been cushioned some so Wraith wasn't unconscious but he figured playing possum would be the best choice right now.
"Freak!" A male voice spit out as the person towered over Wraith's fallen body, "You and your buddy aren't going to survive this! We're the Bloody Eye's and we make a living killing your kind!"
Wraith's sonar sense was beginning to clear as he watched as the man lifted his arm, pointing some type of pistol towards his unprotected body. He heard the click as the man pulled back the hammer and moved a round into the chamber. "Time to move!" He thought to himself, suddenly pushing off the ground with powerful arms. Kicking out with his legs the moment his upper body was off the ground Wraith forced his body into a twist and then a shoulder roll back to his feet even as his enemies gun fired sending the bullet into the ground where he had just been laying.
"You talk to much." Wraith growled as he snatched out his staff, extended it, and knocked the weapon out of his opponent's hand, "If you had just shot you might have actually gotten me!"
The man turned, lifting his hands to defend himself but it was a futile gesture. Swinging the staff again Wraith swept the mans feet out from under him and then closed in swinging his leg in powerful roundhouse kick that landed directly on the side of the man's head. Leaving the unconscious man behind Wraith turned and entered the warehouse, clinging to the shadows as he tried to locate Fausto in the mass of destruction the young man had caused.

It was obvious that Victoria was surprised by the gift and that was just fine by Luke. He knew it wasn't expected but at the same time he had felt it necessary to hopefully the young woman a little more at ease.
"I couldn't... " Victoria began softly before finally deciding that she really did need it. "Thank you Luke. I will be back in a moment."
As the woman dissapeared into the restaurant Luke turned his attention back towards Tris who he could tell was facing him... probably watching him carefully while trying to figure out he had done it.
"You are not a conjurer or anything of that sort are you?" Tris spoke up as she held the door for him to walk into the restaurant.
"No." Luke spoke with a slight chuckle as he moved past her into the restaurant, "You don't have to worry about me pulling coins out of your ears or anything."
Hopefully that would be enough to cover himself until the three sat down to a meal. Luke knew he would have to reveal his powers eventually but he wanted to do it in private if he had to do it at all.

Fausto's corrosive saliva was deffinately something interesting but at the same time Wraith knew that corrosive saliva wouldn't take care of everything. "And now he's inside... just great." The man muttered to himself as he continued to slip closer and closer to the building.
"Yo, Jeffy!" A male voice sudenly rang out as one of the guards wandered near the open door, "Did you leave this door open?"
Silence reigned for several moments due to the fact that 'Jeffy' lay on the ground several feet away with his throat ripped away.
"Stupid kid." Wraith thought to himself as he collapsed his staff and placed it back in its holder, "He deffinately need some training." It was the work of just a few moments to grab a rather heavy duty looking drain pipe and climb up to the roof of the warehouse.
"Jeffy?!" The voice was obviously getting a little nervous but the man was also coming closer to at least one of the intruders.
"Time to quiet that one." The thoughts continued to flow freely though his mind as Wraith moved to the edge of the warehouse and looked down. It was a long drop but with another person to pad your fall, it was possible.
"Uuugh!" The guard grunted in pain before unconsciousness claimed him as the shadowy figure's feet landed squarely on his shoulders.
"Shane? You all right?"
Wraith charge forward, withdrawing his baton reflexively as he approached the next guard. Suddenly appearing out of the darkness he knew that he had to be a shock to the guard but before the other man could reaction Wraith spun, tripping the man and sending him crashing to the ground immediately followed by a powerful baton strike to the head which sent the man into oblivion.
Hearing sounds he once again slipped into the shadows just as Fausto walked back outside holding a grenade in his hand. "Looks like the kid found some firepower... this might get interesting." The man thought to himself as he watched Fausto throw the grenade towards one of the other warehouses. "Very interesting."

Wraith continued his silent patrol, moving along the tops of the warehouses behind Faust. Pausing he watched as the younger man appeared to be... spitting? "How in the world is spitting going to help?" He silently wondered to himself but then it became clear. Without a sound the metal of the fencing seemed to melt away leaving a small hole for Fausto to slip through.
"Perfect.... just perfect." Wraith muttered to himself as he quickly descended to ground level and made his way over to the fence. Already Fausto has made his way into the compound and while most people would have lost sight of him, Wraith could still sense the young man due to his sonar ability.
"Well... hole's to small for a grown man. Time to make my own way." He murmured softly as he grabbed his staff from its place on his back and with a quick flick of his wrist extended it fully. Pausing for a moment the man cleared his mind and focused on the task at hand then ran towards the fence. Three feet from the fence Wraith planted the tip of his staff like a polevaulter and launched himself up and over, landing lightly in a crouched position with the staff still gripped in his left hand. A ghost of a smile appeared on his face hidden by the shadows of his hood and then once again he was moving. Slipping into the shadows and staying approximately fifteen feet behind the young man he suddenly realized that there was a body lying on the ground just slightly behind the young man.
"And that quickly a boy becomes a killer." Wraith thought to himself as he remained crouched in the shadows, only moving forward when the boy was moving. "But how long can he keep this up?"

Wraith had been trailing Fausto ever since he had left the downtown cafe and headed off towards the harbor. He still couldn't believe that he had put himself in this kind of position. "Big hero protecting the innocent boy." The man muttered to himself and lept to the next building, hiding in the shadows near the top as he continued to monitor the boys movements with his sonar sense, "This has got to be one of the stupidest things I've ever done. No... check that... stupidest was actually telling him where the gang was in the first place."
Thankfully Fausto had taken his time travelling, allowing darkness to fall over the city. Traveling during the day time was never good for Wraith that's why he had a decent reputation as a regular person. Luke Jacobs could get around during the day but Wraith was all about the darkenss, shadows, and night.
Finally Fausto stopped, apparently taking a look at the layout of the compound he was about to attack. "Just walk away." Wraith thought to himself rather grimly as he concentrated as pushing out the edge of his sonar sense to take in a more broad view of the warehouse and surrounding area, "You'll a better man for walking away than you'll ever be for staying."
If you count was correct there were 7 guards outside patrolling the ground... oh... nope there were 8. One guard was just inside the shadowed doorway, leaning up against the wall and it seemed like he was completely asleep. Wraith tried to get some idea of how many people were inside but because of the concrete and metal building materials that had been used to make this warehouse there was no way for him to know for sure. "Just great." Wraith murmured to himself as he turned his attention back to the young man, "I'm about to follow this young fool into a hornet's nest and I don't have any idea how many hornets I'm about to face!"

Luke shook his slowly as his senses monitored the young man walking away for his destination.
"He has no clue what he's getting himself into." The blind man muttered to himself as he stood up and placed money on the table to pay for the water and small sandwich he had eaten earlier, "How in the world did I end up as a babysitter?"
Slipping off through the crowd he dissapeared into the alley he had spotted earlier quickly changing clothes behind a dumpster. Stuffing his casual clothes in the knapsack he had carried, the blind man stood up, slowly slipping the burgundy visor over his eyes and pulling up the deep gray hood that completed his transformation. Where a blind man had once stood for all the world to see there was now a shadowy figure clothes in charcoal gray boots, medium gray pants, medium gray tunic, charcoal gray gloves, medium gray hood, and burgundy visor.
"Where once a man stood the Wraith has appeared." He murmured in a cold voice, musing about the transformation to himself. Throwing the knapsack over his shoulder Wraith made sure that the baton and collapsible staff were both securely fastened in their holders at the small of his back and then took off for the fire escape. In a matter of moments he was on top of the building following Fausto's progress with his unique sonar ability.

Luke nodded slowly, inwardly deciding that he would need to keep an eye on Fausto and follow him in order to hopefully keep the young man from killing himself or someone else.
"Watch your back Fausto." He spoke quietly already scanning the area for where he could change clothes and begin trailing the young man, "I hope you have a guardian angel."
"Alleyway around the corner... I can get over there, grab my clothes out of the knapsack and then trail the young man. He's a different size from most people in the area so I should be able to keep track of him wherever he goes." He thought to himself, "Maybe he can survive this confrotation."

"Outright murder, even justified, is still murder. Killing in self-defense is one thing but to go with the sole purpose of killing puts you in the same position as the ones that have previous hurt you." Luke's voice was quiet and serious but not mean or judgemental, "From what I hear the 'Bloody Eyes' are in an abandoned warehouse down by the docks. Number 329 if my sources are right."
Pausing for several moments Luke stared off into the sky, deep in thought. "Why do you hate them so much?" He asked bluntly, "Why are they different than any other gang?"
