The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

After grabbing his glass of tea and taking another sip, Luke turned his attention to the food that had now been set out. The Philly Steak & Cheese Sandwich smelled so tantelizing but for the moment the blind man restricted himself to beginning with the at least somewhat healthy side salad. Poking his fork into the crisp iceburg and romaine lettuce Luke made sure to also spear a tomato before placing the bite into his mouth and chewing thoughtfully. There was something special about the cripsness and freshness of a salad that just made Luke feel better and healthier even though he knew a lot of it was just in his mind.
"So what does this training involve?"
"Oh its kinda awesome. See, having a power is like- but way cooler than, being an athlete, all you need to do is practice and practice and practice some more and develop that mental control that will that you see what you have is cool, not a curse. There's many different ways you can practice obviously, like mediation/ yoga/pilates stuff, and simulations things that make you feel you've been sucked into a video game, oh and you can do like obstacle courses straight out of a reality tv show...... Its challenging, but fun. "
For the moment Luke just continued with his eating, choosing not to comment on the subject. All of his training had been private and self-motivated meaning that he was no expert on the kind fo training she was talking about. He wasn't even sure that he could really instruct someone else on how to train but he was quite happy to just eat and listen while the two ladies talked.

Luke took the offered map and paperwork without comments, making a show of running his fingers over the map as though he could feel the difference in texture. Sadly, as he expected, the map was printed on a laser jet printer like most documents in the current day and age, keeping him from being able to discern any difference in texture. "To bad... I'll just have to take it to a print shop and have them copy it into a texture form that I can feel." Luke thought to himself as he folded the paper and tucked it in the rear pocket of his jeans.
"Well if funds are ever running low please give me a call." The blind man spoke up as he fished a business card out of his side pocket and then held it out to Neena, "'Jacobs & Jacobs Security' may not be as big as some companies but we pull in enough profits that I'm sure we can work out some arrangement. My Uncle Oliver may not be the happiest decision but I can over rule him, thankfully."
Extending the range of his sonar just a touch Luke took in the size of the entryway as he tried to guess just how big the mansion really was. Obviously from the size of the grounds and the size of this room it was extremely large and able to house plenty of mutant teenagers and youngsters.
"Does a girl named Vega live here?" Luke suddenly spoke up as he remembered the girl he had met several days before at a bookstore, "Or... she said she's known as Ghost."

Well over a week had passed since Luke began his intensive training but he still didn't have the control that he wanted. Things were getting better and his head didn't hurt as much or as quickly when he turned off the sonar but he still couldn't maintain directional control. Inside a battle was waging as half of his will insisted that weaknening three arcs while keeping one strong was enough control but the other half insisted that he could achieve even more if he just dedicated himself.
For now Luke had decided it was best to perservere and once again he was sitting cross legged on the floor working on the breathing excercises that had become the mainstay of his practices. There was no question that if anyone could see through his windows and watch him every day they would wonder what was wrong with the blind man in the New Gotham Towers but at the moment that didn't matter. He had started the work because he had met one mutant that was affected by his power but now he had met several others in chance meetings across the city. There was no way that he was going to accept his power hurting other just because he couldn't control it.
After some time had passed with his only focusing on breathing in and out, Luke once again rose to his feet and stood in the basic 'forward stance'. "Ok... I've tried to hold the sonar in place but let's try rotating it in the opposite direction this time." He murmured softly to himself as he closed down his sonar so that the strong beam was straight forward while weaker beams went out from his body to the right, left, and rear extending only aproximately a foot away. Maintaining the stance for several more moments the blind man continued to breathe in and out before suddenly he sprang into action.
Leaping forward Luke's right and left armed flashd out in practiced jabs to the chin of his target before his right knee came up to plant the power of his leg in the target's groin. Bringing his leg back down Luke set it firmly in position and then pushed of with his left, spinning around and slamming the side of his foot into the cheek of his target before leaping backwards and somersaulting to stable landing.
For a second Luke froze as he replayed the action in his brain trying to acknowledge what had just happened. "YES!" He suddenly yelled as he pumped the air in triumph. It had taken a moment for his mind to accept it but his idea of rotating the sonar opposite had worked! While it was true he needed more practice to handle the speed of the rotation, his mind had finally grasped the idea enough to execute it while in training.
"Now... if I can just do that in real combat I'll be completely set. Maybe I'll see about contacting that girl... Ghost. She might be willing to spar with me and give me practice." Luke murmured quietly to himself as he felt his confidence once again returning, "Maybe I'm ready to hit the streets again."

"Professor Xavier founded this school as an extension of his first. We basically offer classes up through high school graduation, connections for college if needed, and a refuge for ousted mutants. Most of our residents are teenagers, actually, but there are ages as young as six and old as late sixties. That's our resident healer, the DocProf." Neena spoke in a soft voice. If it was up to Luke he would guess she was maintaining a soft voice in order to keep from disturing anyone sleeping in the mansion. Reflexively Luke turned down his sonar so that he was only reading about five or six feet around him... that should be enough to keep from disturbing anyone sleeping in other rooms but still far enough out to keep him from actually running into anything.
"I spent most of my school years in Europe attending different private schools that would help me with my business studies. Uncle Oliver didn't really want to have a whole lot to do with me since he was more interested in running the family business." Luke replied softly but still loud enough for Neena to hear, "I was blessed that my mutation wasn't extremely obvious and I could still blend in... not knowing about a place like this I have no idea what I would have done if the situation had been different."
For several moments Luke fell silent before speaking up again. "What do you do for funding, if you don't mind my asking? I know a lot of parents, not all but quite a few, have problems with their children having the X-Gene. Do enough parents pay tuition to support the school or do you have outside donors?"
The thought of a whole school devoted to mutants was still extremely new to Luke and as he listened to Neena talk he tried to wrap his mind around this whole development. He had deffinately beeen blessed as a kid but there were lots of people that had mutations that kept them from blending in with most humans. It was absolutely necessary someplace like this operated in order to provide them support and an education so that they would have a chance in the future.

"Do you think he's why my head's starting to hurt or am I justcrazy? I feel like someone turned a radio up to loud."
“It could be. Since he walked in, I’ve been hearing this buzz, like the electricity through a light, but more intense.”
Luke winced slightly as he listened to the conversation. Here were another two people, apparently mutants, that were adversely affected by his gift. "And I thought I had it so easy." The blind man murmured to himself before taking a sip of water and deciding he had to try and alleviate the situation at least a little. Closing his eyes reflexively, his brow knit together in concentration as he reached out and grabbed hold of the on/off switch in his mind. With tiredness already trying to invide his mind Luke's first attempt was unsuccessful but the second time he managed to shut down the sonar so that the power was being bottled up inside.
"Time for another headache." Luke murmured rather wearily as he dug in his pocket and pulled out a couple of tylenol's, which he swallowed with another gulp of water, "I don't think a lazy meal is in the cards today."
Digging back into his plate of food Luke ate two more pieces of sushi very quickly, barely tasting them as he simply focused on finishing and getting away. He didn't want to purposely hurt bystanders and once again here was more evidence that his power had consquences he had never previously considered. "Life was so much much simple only a few days ago." He thought to himself as he reached over and took another sip of water, doing his best to ignore the throbbing that was slowly building in the background of his mind, "So much more simple."

The air conditioner was turned off and all of the windows in the apartment were thrown open allowing the autumn breeze to blow in and fill the room with fresh air and a cooling temperature that helped to reinvigorate Luke for this next training session. Once again the gray sweat pants were in attendance but this time they were paired with a baggy deep blue t-shirt that had seen better days. The sleeves were torn off and there were several small holes but it was comfortable and that was what mattered at the moment. Strangely, Luke's hands had white type wrapping around the knuckles and palms much like fighters would wear when training.
"Breathe in... breathe out... breathe in... breathe out..." Luke thought to himself over and over as he worked towards that place of focus once more. Anyone trained in any form of combat, ranging from martial arts to sniper firing, learned that focus was the most important control to have. If you could focus on a situation and ignore what was being said by your opponent... or ignore the environment you've been placed in to take your shot... if you could truly focus enough to blanket out all distractions then you could be a much more devastating weapon than someone that is skilled but lacks focus.
Slowly rising to his feet the blind man moved his feet to the cat paw stance and held it for several moments. He had taken the time to place three stand-up punching bags in the room seeing as there was no place for them to hang from the ceiling. They were the type of punching bags that would rock back from a blow and then straighten themselves. "Ok... I'm fighting alongside a mutant that is hurt by my sonar but I need to see the enemy." Luke murmured to himself as he laid out the situation in his mind, "She's behind me, but the enemy is in front... I have to fight but I have to protect her at the same time."
Grabbing the control dial in his mind Luke spun it and cranked up the power that was coming from his body straight ahead. The sides still had a touch of sonar coming form them but the rear had been block off completely sheltering the fictional mutant that he was trying to protect. Leaping forward Luke's hands lashed out in a practiced pattern... right jab, left jab, right uppercut...
Flowing with the moves Luke suddenly spun, his leg lashing out to slam the left side of his foot into the head of his target. As the floot made contact Luke suddenly stepped away, swearing forcefully. He had been afraid that would happen and it had... when he spun in combat the sonar spun with him meaning he had just hit the girl he was protecting with a powerful beam of sound. Mentally Luke had to separate his body from the sonar allowing his body to spin while the sonar stayed fixed in one direction.
Stepping back into position once again Luke retook the cat paw stance and prepared himself to try again. Focus was what mattered in this situation but as time passed it got harder and harder to focus as the pain began to build in his temples once again. Suddenly charging forward again Luke's hand slashed out in a powerful right cross that slammed into the head of one of his target before turning slightly and lashing out with a powerful left snap kick. As his foot came back down one again Luke used it to push off the ground and lept in the air, spinning and slamming the top of his right foot into the chest of the second target. As he landed lightly on his feet the blind man let out a cry of frustration before moving towards the last target and punching it over, and over, and over.
"Again! I hurt her again because I couldn't control it!" The blind man enunciated with each blow as he focused on the control he was still unable to maintain for any length of time. Finally stepping away from the target Luke allowed his hands to drop to his sides, as he breathed in and out. He had never experienced this kind of self-doubt before but until the other day at the bookstore he had never met anyone that his gift could hurt. "What if there are more people out there like her?" Luke wondered to himself as he suddenly lashed out with his right hand, punching the center target one last time before his hand dropped to his side again, "How can I fight and defend people like that if I can't even control my gift completely?!" It was a question Luke knew would haunt his thoughts until he finally gained the control he was working so hard to get.

As Luke sat sipping at his water he did his best to keep the sonar down to a minimum but still strong enough where it wouldn't further the extent of his headache. The pain was already beginning to lessen but even then it was strong enough that he wasn't in the best of moods.
"I guess I have chosen my side. It's staying true to myself within that side that's going to be a problem. I was a lone wolf myself so to speak. Before I came to New York I was by myself the whole time, but I'm a social person by nature and it really took it's toll on me. Maybe that was a pre-cursor to my mutation and needing a school or something." One of the woman in the next booth spoke, apparently continuing a conversation she and her friend had already been having.
“Typical fish. I try not to think of myself as that much of a loner. I have Ayesac, and lone wolfs don’t have people, friends, that ask them to go out for sushi, However, two years ago, I might of agreed with you. Maybe what I have is just a cat thing. The second woman replied.
"We've got a brave one! Or maybe he just doesn't see us."
“Actually no, he doesn’t see us. He had a long white cane when he walked in, and the host lead him to that table. Kind of low, by them, if you ask me.”
Luke sighed quietly to himself and continued quietly sipping his water as his brain tried to process the information he had just heard. At least one of the women, if not both, was a mutant and more than likely that was where the waiter's nervousness was coming. Quite possibly the mutation as something visible due to the fact the wait staff so so nervous and one of the women thought it was rather low for them to bring a blind man back to sit in the same area.
"That's just the way things work in the big city." He thought to himself as his left hand moved up and began to massage his temples to dull some of the throbbing that still remain.
"Here is your food sir!" The waiter said as he suddenly appeared into Luke's field of 'vision'. "Will there be anything else?"
"No... no I think I'll be just fine thank you." He replied with as pleasant a smile as he could muster as he dropped his left hand back down into his lap, "I'll just call out if I need anything. You're name is..."
"Chen sir... just call for Chen and I'll come running." Immediately the waiter turned and headed off... whether it was to help another customer or simply to hide in the kitchen Luke didn't know and he didn't care. All that mattered right now was getting some nourishment and praying that the darn headache would go away. Grabbing the chopsticks that were on the table Luke deftly grabbed a piece of sushi and placed it in his open mouth without preamble. The flavor of the raw tuna melded with the vinegared rice and slightly salty seaweed to make a dish that was different yet still quite tasty. Chewing slowly the blind man savored the flavors of the dish before swallowing and leaning back against the cushions of the booth. He had been planning on a quick meal but the conversation behind him had piked his curiosity and after all... a slow leisurely meal was much better for the digestion.

Luke listened carefully as Tris spoke but something caught his ear, so to speak.
Plop... plop... plop...
Turning his attention away from the more outgoing woman the blind man focused on Victoria and in just a moment he knew what was causing the sound. The occasional drip of tears falling to the table. IT was a faint sound but with his enhanced hearing it was loud enough to notice.
"Awwww hunny....." Tris spoke up as she apparently noticed the same situation that Luke had just been drawn to.
Reaching over carefully Luke attempted to touch and gently grip one of Victoria's hands as he offered a kind smile. "It will get better Victoria... you'll learn control over your power and you'll learn to have a life without your parents. As I said you'll always remember them but you can still find a life for yourself now." Really, he was at a loss on how to handle the crying young woman... this was just not something he was experienced with.

The strain of working to control his sonar was finally getting to Luke in a major way. He had pushed it to far to soon and the constant throbbing in his head reminded him of that fact. Sighing inwardly the blind man moved easily along the crowded sidewalk as he tried to decide where to eat dinner. Really all that mattered was that the food be quick, easy, and somewhat nutricious. "And hopefully the place is kind of quiet." He thought to himself as he fished a tylenol out of his pocket and then swallowed it dry. Oh yeah... he had deffinately pushed it to far today.
Suddenly pausing in the doorway of one shop Luke sniffed slightly and turned his head towards the entrance. A deffinate fishy smell and from what little chatter he could pick up from inside it sounded like this must be a sushi shop. "I was hoping for quick and easy... this'll work." He murmured to himself as he walked inside.
"Welcome sir! Would you prefer a booth or table this afternoon?" The host spoke up from where he stood near the entrance. Pausing Luke still the movements of his cane and turned his head so he was facing the man's general direciton.
"A booth please... a prefer a little privacy."
"Of course... of course!" The host assured as he rushed forward to touch the blind man's arm and guide him into the restaurant. "We have several booths open towards the back of the restaurant... only one is taken while all the rest are left empty. That will be perfect for you!"
Several minutes later Luke found himself comfortable seated in a booth with a glass of water and a brail menu right in front of him. Slowly running his fingers over the brail letters the blind man focused on what he wanted to eat, although his enhanced hearing was picking up some of the conversation coming from the two young women that were seated in the booth right behind him.
"Have you decided what you want sir?" The waiter asked as he suddenly walked up to Luke's table. "He sounds nervous... why in the world would a blind man make him nervous?" He wondered, automatically lowering the power of his sonar so that hopefully its adverse effects would not touch the other diners in the restaurant.
"I'll have a double order of Tekkamaki Makizushi." Luke said in a quiet voice as he folded his menu back and handed it over to the waiter, "And just water to drink will be fine."
"Of course sir... I'll be back with it in just a few minutes." The waiter said before hurrying off to dissapear into the kitchen.
"Strange... even with my sonar turned down he acts nervous." Luke thought as he lowered the strength down to only approximately four feet out in all direciton, "I wonder what's bothering him... and the rest of the people here for that matter."

Outside of the apartment darkness was beginning to lift from the city. On the horizon the first rays of sunlight were beginning to appear. Slowly the air began to warm from the coolness of night and the sun continued to move higher into the sky. At about 9 o'lock the sun was high enough that it streamed through the blinds beginning to warm Luke's skin. It took several moments for the warmth to break through his tired mind but finally the blind man groggily stood to his feet and set about trying to clear his head. A cold shower followed by two pieces of toast and a glass of orange juice did the trick and at approximately 9:30 Luke was once again sitting in his living room. He had chosen to go for comfort for this training session and as such was wearing a pair of sweat pants with socks on his feet or shirt on his chest.
Sitting cross legged on the floor he began the breathing exercising he had been using to gain focus of the past several days. Any good martial arts training taught you that breathing was perhapse the most important skill to have... when you could breath correct you took in more oxygen allowing your muscles to reaction faster and with more strength than someone that tried to keep their stomach pulled in in order to look more attractive. Breathing in deeply Luke saturated his lungs with air before holding it for perhapse one or two seconds and then breathing out. For the next ten to fifteen minutes all Luke did was breathe focusing inward as he prepared himself for the next practice session. While it was still difficult to turn off his gift he was gaining control so that he could keep the sonar bottled up inside for almost half an hour before his headache became unbearable. Back in his bookstore meeting Kaz had mentioned directional control and that was the next thing to try. Could he use work with the Sonar only being used to cover one arc?
Finally Luke had reached a peace that he felt was strong enough for his first attempt. Mentally he conjured a dial in his mind that would control where the sonar went. Moving it so that it would block off the sonar from being emitted to the rear or from either side, he focused on trying to only 'see' in front of him. The first several tries were somewhat successfull, but not completely. The first time though Luke weakened the strength of all arcs except the forward arc, he could still sense a few feet out from him. There was no great surprise in being unable to achieve success in the first few moments so Luke allowed his sonar to build up to full strength once more before he once again tried to shut it off. This time the rear arc was completely silent but right, left, and forward were all still at full strength.
For the next hour he worked back and forth trying to selectively search or certain directions and areas. The pain didn't build as fast in his head as it had when he was completely shutting his ablity off but he could still feel the dull throb in his temples slowly growing. Attempting time after time Luke never seemed to be able to get it completely... he could weaken selective arcs with ease and bring them in close to his body but it to shut off only one area of power was turning out to be more difficult than he could have imagined.
By 12 o'clock the pain was becoming almost unbearable and Luke dropped all stoppages as he admitted defeat for the moment. He had managed to turn off one arc at a time but had never been able to turn off three allowing for only one to continue working. "I'll figure it out." Luke murmured softly to himself as he stood and once again headed of to get himself a pain pill and some water, "It'll take time but I'll do it!"

Luke dozed fitfully as the pain killers kicked in and when he woke he wasn't sure exactly how much time had passed. Sitting up slowly the blind man focused on the feelings in his head for several moments. There was still the slightest ache deep within but it wasn't something that he couldn't handle for a while. Taking the precaution ahead of time he made his way towards the kitchen and grabbed another glass of water along with two more pain pills before walking back out to the living room. After placing the water and pills on the coffee table, Luke touched a clock that was also sitting on the coffee table causing an electronic voice to call out the time.
"It is currently 9:15 p.m."
Turning away Luke resumed his former position on the floor as he did his best to mentally prepare for the exercise he was about to perform. "At least I can go to bed after this session."
To most people the room would have seemed silent but to Luke, different small sounds stood out. The slight whirring of the electric clock on the table, the sound of the fan oscilating gently in the corner, and the sound of the air condition kicking off as the outside temperature lowered enough to basically maintain the inner temperature. All around Luke could 'see' his room. The couch, recliner, stereo system, desk... off in the bedroom was the bed, nightstands, dresser... in the kitchen there were two chairs pulls up to a small table in what most people would call a breakfast nook.
Memorizing the layout as best he could Luke concentrated, suddenly silencing the sonar he had used for so many years. He had not lived with the kind of blindness most people experience for many years and so every time he did this it was dissorienting. Slowly rising to his feet, eyes closed tightly in concentrating he began to move through the apartment... stalking like a hunter after its prey. Suddenly leaping in the air Luke lashed out with his leg in a spinning roundhouse kick befre landing lightly on his feet. Flipping backwards Luke landed on his hands and then pressed off in a perfectly executed handspring... but the landing never happened. As Luke curved back towards the floor he suddenly found that, without his sonar, he had misjudged the size of the room. With a loud bang he felt his back crash into the wall before falling to the floor in a heap. Refelxively his sonar kicked back in from the impace, revealing a slight indentation in the wall though by some miracle it hadn't cracked or busted a hole in it.
Moving somewhat stiffly Luke stood back up and regained his focus enough to once again turn off the sonar. The throbbing was beginning to build in the back of his mind but at the moment it was still a manageable level. Taking several steps forward the blind man began to punch and kick in a pattern of moves he had often used for training. With his back so close to the wall he knew there was nothing directly in front of him but attacking this far away from obstacles was not really teaching him anything... was it? As he moved forward with the flow of punches and kick he suddenly stopped dead still before craning his neck ever so slightly and listening carefully. When he had made the last punch there had been a sound he didn't recognize but he hadn't felt anything. Reaching out a tenative hand Luke stretched foward to suddenly find himself in contact with the wall opposite where he had crashed so unceremoniously.
Dropping his arm, Luke released the flood of sonar once more as the throbbing continued to build towards a crescendo. Walking over to the table he picked up his glass of water and swalloed the two pills as he tried to understand what had happened. There had been no sonar to tell him the wall was nearby but he had still heard something that told him something was different. "What was it and how did it work?" Luke wondered aloud before turning to walk to his bedroom. He was tired and unable to really think straight from the pain that continued to move in his temples. "Tomorrow... tomorrow I'll try again."

The New Gotham Apartments were one of New York's premier apartment building although the ratings had begun to drop as people began to find other building that would apparently offer better services or a better price. However for Luke Jacobs, none of that really mattered. He spent a small amount of time at his appartment and kept it mainly for the effect it had on social gatherings when he was forced to participate as a representative for 'Jacobs & Jacobs Security'.
Sitting cross legged in the middle of his living room floor, Luke was doing his best to clear his mind and prepare for the test he was about to give himself. Sonar and enhanced hearing had always seemed like such an easy gift but in one chance meeting he had learned that control was important even with a supposedly safe gift. Breathing in and out, slowly and deeply he was trying to reach a clarity and control he had never achieved before. With wide open eyes, the sightless orbs stared off into space, not affecting the man's concentration in the least.
Mentally reaching out for the switch Luke turned off his sonar sense... immediately the feeling of pressure began to build at his temples pushing on towards what he knew would probably develop into a migraine. Stubbornly gritting his teeth Luke did his best to split the focus between breathing correctly as well as holding in the sonar. Without the sonar to fill part of his mind his hearing and other senses suddenly seemed much stronger and finely tuned. The smell of must in the air that meant there was probably a touch of mold in the air vents... the sound of sirens and horns from the street far below... the minty taste that remained from brushing his teeth earlier... the feeling of of a light breeze as an oscilating fan in the corner gently stirred the air in the room.
As Luke held out longer and longer, his eyes began to slowly close, knitting together in concentration as he gritted his teeth slightly. The pressure was building to a breaking point and he knew there was no way he could hold the valve shut for very much longer. The pounded began to be rythmic as it slammed against his mental barrier with each heartbeat. Finally unable to hold it any longer Luke released his power once again with a slight groan of pain.
Filled with a vision of the room once again he slowly stood to his feet and walked towards the kitchen almost tripping from the weariness that had suddenly invaded his head. That combined with the throbbing was going to make this a bad day... a really bad day. Stopping at the sink Luke filled a glass with water and then took two pain killers to dull the beating in his head.
Slowly walking back into the living room Luke flopped down on his black leather couch and leaned back againt the cushions simply allowing his body to try and calm down. This was deffinately going to take work and practice but he'd get... eventually.

As the young woman made a motion for him to follow, Luke began to take a step forward only to stop as the woman apparently saw his cane and glasses.
"My apologies. I didn't notice your eyes before. Are you completely blind, or just in the eyes?" She said in a rather appologetic sounded voice.
Chuckling softly Luke shook his head and removed the sunglasses, sliding them into the breast pocket of his shirt with practiced east. "Visually... I'm completely blind. Can't see a color, shape, or anything else." He replied with an easiness that he rarely felt. This was a mutant friendly place so why should he try to hide what he had been given? "But I've been blessed with enhanced hearing and a sonar that keeps me from running into anything. It's difficult to make out actual facial characterics unless I'm up close but I can still identify people from a distance by their movements and actions. Since I can't see the face I've become rather adept at noticing people's habits."
Moving forward without the slightest stumble Luke pushed his collapsed cane into the back pocket of his jeans and then shrugged off his sport coat and held it folded over his left arm as he moved to stand near Neena, though not so close that she would think he was attempting anything. "I'd enjoy talking with you about your organization and its purpose if you have the time. It's become so normal for me to hide my ability that it's nice to just act free for at least a few minutes."
"At least I haven't been thrown out on my ear... that's a positive." Luke thought to himself as he waited for Neena to respond, "Maybe there's a chance I can do some good here... at the very least provide some extra funding or something but we'll have to see what she says about the place."

"Well Luke, welcome to Xavier's Institute for Gifted Youngsters." Neena finally spoke to him as she turned her focus away from the young man. She had put emphesis on the word gifted and it didn't take a genius to figure out that she was more than a touch annoyed with Calley.
Stepping away from the car and turning to face the woman Luke smiled slightly, "Thank you very much... Neena I believe Calley said."
"Thanks again. Hope you like the place." Calley muttered just loud enough for Luke to hear before he walked off towards the mansion.
"Take care Calley." Luke called after hime before turning his attention back to the young woman once more.
"I probably need to appologize to you for being involved in that... I'm sorry if I heard anything that I shouldn't have." The blind man said rather apologetically as stood easily with his cane broken down and gripped in his left hand, "He seems like a good guy... a little messed up on his idea of right and wrong but a decent guy. But, you're probably wondering why I'm here when I'm well out of school... I've had a couple of people mention about a mansion where other mutants were trained and when Calley said he actually knew where it was I was curious enough to hitch a ride. I hope that's not a problem."
Inwardly Luke had braced himself just in case things didn't work out. It was quite possible that he would be told visiting hours were over or that this was a private accademy that he couldn't enter without either being a student or a student's guardian. Really he had no idea how this place worked so inwardly he was ready for the worst. As Wraith he could easily slip in past the walls but there was no way he would even attempt something like that. As he had told Calley before... breaking and entering was deffinately a crime and trespassing fit in that same category.

"I'm not sure if it will help or not, but I own a weapons research and development company. If you need a small scale or personal sonar to help figure things out, I can get one for you." Kaz touched the card lightly to Luke's hand so he'd know where it was.
"Thank you very much for the offer." Luke replied after taking out his wallet and handing Vega his credit card. Slipping the busines card into one of the slots on his billfold the blind men then extracted two of his own business card, laying them on the counter so that both Vega and Kaz could see them. "And I'm with Jacobs & Jacobs Security so if there's anything I can do for either of you don't hesitate to call."
Turning back to the counter, Luke reached out carefully, finding the bags, receipt, and credit card as 'Ghost' handed them to him. As he slipped the wallet back into his pocket the young woman spoke once again.
"Hope to see you again Mister Jacobs! Sorry about all the erm... confusion."
"Please... it's just Luke." The blind man replied with the best smile he could muster. His concentration was wavering and he knew there was no way he could hold out much longer. "Both of you have a... a nice day."
Without another word the man turned and moved towards the door, finally allowing the sonar to release in what he hoped would be only a forward stream. From what his senses suddenly gave him it felt like most of the power and strength was streaming forward but he could tell at least a little had escaped behind going in the direction of Ghost. Moving more confidently Luke quickly slipped out into the street and dissapeared among the people that were moving up and down the street. The intial rush and pulse of power had died off and Luke found that he had once again regained control. Keeping the power down to only about twelve feet out, Luke resumed his normal pattern of monitoring everything around him even while his mind tried to digest what had just happened.
"I wonder what mansion she was talking about..." He pondered to himself as he continued down the street, "I guess if I ever want to meet her again I'll have to come back by the bookstore."
(OOC: And Luke has left the building. Thanks for the RP even if my part was kind of quick. :-D )
