The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

ThatOneGuy: I'm surprised nobody has brought this up yet, while all of you guys are making googly eyes at the next cutest X-Man, there's a freaking mutant hit list out there! A hit list, with like names and pictures and links to full break downs and ways of killing those mutants. The list was scary enough but there's also a whole site attached to it run by these "Bird Hunters" f******. I would have dug deeper but I was terrified by just the number list. Also I didn't want to get put on some gov list. And yeah, you're faves are on there too guys; Cafas Johnson, Ambrose Jaager, Rebecca Grey, Panu Harmaajärvi! Panu, Ambrose's adopted kid is on there, he's freakin 9! Hate to be a downer guys but this can't be legal!
VforVictory: I mean, technically it is but it doesn't make it any less messed up. I did a little more digging (Hi NSA!), and found the crazy goes deeper. Like from the sound of it they have an "R&D", as in research and development, as in they want to find ways around powers to "eliminate the threat". And their whole manifesto is about "leveling the playing field for human-kind". I get the paranoia, powers can be scary, but at the same time their promoting violence against mutant children, kids with no control. It feels like all sorts of wrongs.
Budding_Blossom: Well, I mean, they do have a lot of killers on that list. Duskmoor, Maurell, Jörmungandr! That last one was a freaking terrorist, so maybe they have a point. Power corrupts clearly and it ends badly for the rest of us!
GrandDaddy_Kupa: O my lord, you best shut up kiddo! Adding a few killers to the list doesn't make this mud pie taste like chocolate. Sure Duskmoor and Jörmungandr are serial killers by all accounts. But Maurell was found not guilty because he acted in selfdefense, clear as day with all the video evidence, and the rest of those folks have hardly done anything wrong. Hell they got a cop on there! Cervantes has been serving NYC for years and is deserved of respect gotdamnit! The man saved my life once, Christmas Tree Attack of 2010, can you imagine, gettin takin out by a gotdamn tree! I'd be a laughin' stock of Heaven! So mutants can be bad, mutants can be good, don't go lumping them all together!!!!

"No lad, can't have you collapsing somewhere being on my conscience. That and those thugs might make another appearance. I'll get you to your friend. What's the address? I can get a cab to pick us up right on the street."
Alex resisted the urge to roll his eyes; the guy was only trying to help and well, he had a point. If he ran into those guys again, there was no way he'd get away a second time. And the first time only happened because Artair had appeared. He should be thankful for any help he could get. "Yeah, fair enough."he sighed.
He hesitated a moment longer before giving the man the address. The address to the mutant school, making it very obvious, that yes there was a healer at the mansion and yes he went there at least often enough to know the guy. He wasn't about to mention that he was also a student there and his dad was an X-man. No way, no how.
Address divulged, Alex cracked open the door and checked that they were well and truely alone. "Looks like we're clear, but uh, why don't you lead the way back to the street? Just in case."he asked, nervously. He couldn't see from the door if the guys were hiding around a corner or something. He just wanted to be sure the most capable guy was in the front.

Alex frowned at Jorge's reaction to his question but didn't complain further. He had to trust that Jorge knew what he was doing. It didn't quell the unease he felt in his gut, but at least the bartender was nice enough to get him some coffee from the kitchen per Jorge's request. He didn't drink alcohol, his already broken mind didn't take it well and the taste left quite a bit to be desired. At least in his short experience with the drink. He wasn't going to try again.
A few more people filtered in. Stephanie, then Zed. The first at least acknowledged him but the second made her way directly to Khalil, the fire devil whom he hadn't really gotten to know. Honestly, he hadn't really talked to anybody here. They all did separate missions and lived separate lives under Jorge's command, so he could only assume they were just as loyal as he was. Well, maybe not Alice. He didn't trust her, or at least didn't trust her judgement, given she brought in what could be a possible leak to the whole operation.
With everybody here, and Alice's friends out the door, Jorge started the meeting, bidding them to sit at the table and report their work. Alex didn't need much more prompting, the food at the table was enough. Hot cup of coffee in hand, he made his way over to the table, sitting near the head of the table where he assumed Jorge would sit.
He let the others go first, serving himself some food while he waited for an opportunity to report his own status. It was interesting, hearing them talk so casually about what was certainly murder and arson. Poseidon had a lot of enemies and obstacles and it was their job to clear the path. With both Alice and Khalil done with their reports, Alex spoke up.
"The man who refused to sign your paperwork a few weeks ago has changed his mind, it didn't take much persuasion after we threatened his children. We left the folder on your desk, though you've probably already seen it by now. The other man you tasked us with was more...stubborn and we took the option to eliminate him. There was a small hiccup with that one sir, and we apologize, but we couldn't remove the entire body...two of the fingers were lost. The dogs must have tossed them somewhere when they were torturing him."he reported, looking a little nervous to have messed up, even in the slightest.
@theranger, @tracetanner: Sounds like a plan! Ranger will pick up news of a masked mutant killing common thugs and the like and calls in a favor from Trace to catch him? I wouldn't think they'd know it's Alex right away but they may have a good idea that it's him, given the powers are a pretty good indicator once they see it in action.

For being in the summer months, the world was unusually cold and dreary tonight. Thick rain poured down in sheets, filling every crevice it could, and for anyone out tonight properly covered they were likely soaked to the bone by now. In short, it was an unpleasant time to be out tonight. Yet, there were several being finding themselves stuck in the rain.
Drifters and homeless were standard in this part of town. But they weren't the ones who concerned Gluttony. No, the ones he was after were a group of thugs edging in on Ragnarok territory. Poseidon had done his level best to get the small group to cooperate and leave. But, as with many of his target, they were rather stubborn about staying where they were. Apparently they liked these abandoned buildings, apparently they were fine with living in near squalor.
Gluttony had his standard mask on, his hood up, and his thick jacket over the hoodie, so the rain didn't bother him. Besides, he wanted to do this job properly. So he assessed the outside of the building first, standing across the street in plan view. He knew that sometimes just the sight of a strange man in a blank mask was enough to get people to rethink their opinions. He was sure the rain added to the drama of it. He then used some insects to get a better look inside, it was a little difficult getting them in given the rain but there were always ways pests could get in.
Once he had an idea of who was where in the boarded up house he approached the front door. From what he could see, the thugs didn't have full control of the building. There were quite a few squatters they allowed to live there too. Strange, but he didn't think further on it. He had a job to do.
Gluttony kicked the door down, the rotted wood breaking free of it's rusted hinges with relative ease. The first three goons were caught off guard and were quickly gutted from the inside out before they could even reach for their side arms.

(Ooc: Sure!)
"I'd like that. I don't have a name. Just numbers."
Alex smiled and nodded, shifting a little to settle in his spot a more. "Let's see. Names, names, names..." he pondered out loud, looking from the boy to across the room. Now that he had to come up with one he couldn't really think of one that he didn't associate with the people who held them captive here. And he really only knew their names because of the id badges they wore.
But he could think of a few names further back. From when he was a child, the few friends he had stuck out in his mind. He couldn't really their faces but he could remember names at least.
"We're gonna say a bunch of names and you tell us if they're good names for you. Jacob? Ashley? Gregg? Hunter? Taylor? Adam? Chase?"he tried, pausing to between names to gauge the boy's reaction and hoped on stuck out as one he liked. It was better than the numbers they were given, it at least gave them some sort of identity they couldn't take away.

"Names Artair by the way, nice to meet you. What do I call you then, lad? I know it probably hurts but focus on the light, won't take long."
"Nice to meet ya under these ridiculous circumstances, I'm Alex." He couldn't help but chuckle at the exchange of pleasantries, eyes following the blinding light the best he could. He couldn't tell that it had been reduced, it still made his eyes sting. But good news was, his eyes dilated like they were supposed to. Well, the non-blacked one did anyway, the other one was starting to swell, making it hard to see from. "Any places on your body feeling numb or have a stabbing pain?"
He carefully shook his head, "Nope, just my face. I'm gonna guess that's not unusual given what just happened." It wasn't the first time he had taken a beating like this. It was just the first time in a long time. Last time was...last year, maybe? With the Australian cops? It was hard to keep track of it all any more. At the moment the memories just kind of blended together into one painful mess.
"Good news is I don't need to ring 911, you won't go down any time soon. But you will need to go to the hospital, sooner rather than later."
He gave a hum of agreement, "Yeah, but I know somebody better than the hospital. Plus, they don't charge. Just hope he doesn't decide to tell dad." He leaned his ear against the door again, double checking that the thugs had truly gone away before slowly standing up. "You don't have to go with me by the way. I can handle it from here."he said, perhaps too casually. But honestly, he didn't expect any more help from this relative stranger. He just needed to get to the nearest bus that would take him back to the school. No big deal.

"No one would ever, I’ll keep you safe, my boy."
Alex committed those words to memory, the look on Jorge's face, the sensation of his hand on his shoulder. He didn't want to forget a single bit of it. He knew, that despite the man's hard exterior and violent ways, he cared and would always keep his promises. Alex knew he could count on Jorge to be there for him, no matter what.
He nodded, smiling with a grateful expression and then the moment passed. They were going to arrive soon enough and he mentally prepared himself for what was going to happen next. Happy thoughts of Jorge's warm protection were carefully stored away, replaced with ideas and strategies on how to best commit his work. Jorge, no Poseidon, was counting on him to do his best tonight.
He slipped his mask down as they arrived at the building, a hollowed out husk of what it used to be. The sign above the loading door way was faded and graffiti'd over but one could vaguely make out what it once said. Something about fish? Or furniture? Whatever the case, the light beneath the loading door was telling. At least they were dumb enough to reveal that they were here. Though he was bracing himself for an ambush. He didn't trust these guys to be honest about their position. He scanned over the buildings nearby, looking for signs of people staking out or looking to get the drop on them.
Poseidon was powerful sure but a good, silent sniper shot would be all that it would take. It was his greatest fear, failing to anticipate some unknown variable.
"Are you ready? Hopefully these…Killer Whales and Planes…will listen to reason. But if not…you know what to do, yes?"
Alex nodded, setting his puzzle aside in favor of adjusting his gloves. "How would you like it done sir?"he asked curiously. There were two usual ways; with good old physical violence or with his powers. Breaking necks and knocking out teeth certainly had more of a artistic aspect to it, but he also knew Poseidon enjoyed a good show. There was little else that could compare to the sight of multiple enemies being eviscerated from the inside out by all manner of creatures.

Alex could hear them, distantly, but he couldn't speak, he couldn't get a word out. It was like his mouth wasn't his own, like his body wasn't his own. All that was coming out was just, pathetic garbled sounds, like suffocation, like drowning. He couldn't see, he couldn't speak, he couldn't move under his own power but he could hear them. That was something at least, Sam and Juliette were there to help. He only wished he could understand why this was happening, and now of all times.
This suffering seemed to go on forever, but in reality it was only a minuet and thirty seconds. That was all the time it took for him to be ripped from the seat of power in his own brain and for someone else to take his place.
When those green eyes finally came back into focus, when the body slowed then stopped it's seizing, he was not himself. The young man groaned, blinking up at the two people hovering over him before panic filled his face. "No!" He skittered back, scrambling till his back hit the wall. He looked down at his hands, shaking his head. "Oh no, no, nononononono! This isn't right, what happened, how, oh no!" With the panicked outburst came rapid breathing, a terrified whimper escaping his throat as wide eyes looked back at the other two in the room.
There was a uncomfortable pause...before the stranger in Alex's body made a break for the door.
Killer Whales and Planes, Killer Whales and Planes, who in the world would name their gang Killer Whales or Planes. Killer Whales made at least some sense to him, if one because it had the word killer in the title but Planes of all things? Why not Jets or Tanks or Knives or Swords or anything else. Alex didn't get it, probably wouldn't get it until he was in the midst of ending them and their reign of terror. Poseidon had filled him in on what was going on, how these gangs were hurting mutant businesses and even a few Ragnarok members. It angered him that they would continue even when they were told to stop.
So of course he was eager to help, as always. Even if they were innocent, he would have done as Poseidon asked. The man was important to him, saved his life, gave him shelter and food, and was always kind to him. In return, he'd do whatever he could to make Poseidon happy.
At the moment, they were sitting in the car, on their way to the location to meet these two gangs. Alex was dressed in dark clothing, with boots and gloves to match. The mask he usually wore on these missions was perched on his head, ready to slide down over his face once they reached their destination. In the mean time, the young man was fiddling with a metal puzzle, it's soft clanking filling the car.
"Alex, how are you doing, my boy? Looking a little thin. Are you getting enough rest? Enough to eat? You know if you want a room that less...hidden away, I can make accommodations."
He perked up at the sound of his own name, the brain teaser momentarily forgotten in favor of smiling at the man, "We're doing okay sir; maybe a little tired and a little hungry but no more than usual. And the room's fine sir. We like it, it's...safe. S.U.P.E.R won't find us there and if they did, you're usually there too, or other Ragnarok members. No one would dare attack us in there." He had an odd way of speaking, he knew, never using I but we. He couldn't help it though, in his time with S.U.P.E.R something had gone wrong with his sense of self, something had splintered inside him.
He had been teased by other members of course and speaking to anyone casually was something painful for him. But he did his best to act as normal as he could. It didn't always work, try as he might. He could only hope that Poseidon didn't mind it, that it wasn't something the man disliked him for.

"No problem lad, don't need thanks for doing what anyone else should have."
He gave a light laugh at that, leaning heavily against the door, "Mm, well, should but don't more often then not." Man his head hurt. Now that the adrenaline was dropping all the nerves that were keeping him awake kind of slipped away. He needed to get home and get to the doc pronto. There was no way he was going to let himself end up in the hospital. He wasn't going to be a burden on Sam, no matter how much the man said it wasn't an issue.
He winced at the sudden light filling the confined space, the brightness pulling him from his thoughts.
"You alright lad? You took some bad hits there and I like to make sure you're no going to drop on me, if that's OK with you?"
He blinked a few times, forcing his eyes to adjust. The guy looked alright, even with the stark contrast the phone's flashlight gave his face. Alex on the other hand probably looked like he fought a brick wall with his face. Nose was broken for sure, black eye, bruising around his head and shoulders where they had grabbed and pinned him.
"I'm okay, but sure if you want. Definitely not the worst I've felt though."he shrugged, sitting up a little more so Artair could do whatever he was thinking on doing. "That was a pretty cool power by the way, what's your name?"he asked after a moment of silence. Might as well get to know the guy if he was going to be examining him.

Alright, sounds like we've got two threads!
Darkshift's Shard with a recruitment thread; helping him dispatch some unwanted thugs in Poseidon's territory. Would you like to start or should I?
Noel's Nolan, Trace Tanner, and The Ranger can all go mutant hunting! Perhaps Femme!Ranger is the first on the scene or the first contact, our inciting incident as it were, and that's when S.U.P.E.R gets called in? Or would you guys like to do separate threads?
